I've been wanting to stop by for a very long time - and finally did so recently. Thanks to the attendant at the front counter who patiently answered by questions. I frequently like to ask what are some of the most popular items people buy when I go to a new place and aren't familiar with the offerings. There were a number of things on the menu - a variety of hot dogs, boba teas, and tornado potatoes. When I was there, several customers were enjoying a large bowl of shaved ice with toppings - that seemed to be popular. There are a few seats to hang around while snacking/eating. There is a large public parking lot just behind the shop up the hill, a conveniently located spot. I picked up a 3-pack of Mochiring doughuts, with the following flavors: mango; churro; brown sugar. The doughnuts were placed in a rectangular box which made it easy to carry home. Because it was hot, I ordered a fruit boba tea- mango with green tea and with mango-flavored popping boba. It was my first time to have the popping boba. The green tea plus the mango, which was recommend by the cashier/front counter attendant was really good. After trying the popping boba, it was fine, but I personally prefer the regular boba (I think it is a personal preference). I'd definitely get the green tea and mango combo again. The doughnuts were light and airy, and I like the fact they are small, sliightly smaller than bite-sized rounds. I'll come back another time to try the famous hot dogs - and I'd come again for the doughnuts, too. I recommend stopping by if you want to try something new. read more

Date of visit: February 4, 2025 Many of the mochi donuts that Mochi Ring offers are quite good, but the customer service faux pas I experienced while ordering was so appalling that three stars is the most I can muster for this bakery. The place was deserted when I arrived shortly after they opened at 11 a.m., which was not surprising. The lack of friendly welcome, however, was a little bit. I was here to get two dozen donuts for a Lunar New Year gathering, mochi donuts being the closest sweet treat I could find. I waved off the Bronx cheer I received to the staff being more subdued. I said I needed two dozen donuts and in the middle of the conversation, another staff member started trying to talk to the cashier while I was in the middle of ordering. The cashier did not seem to know what to do, continue talking to the paying customer ordering $80 in donuts, or divert their attention to the women--assuming the owner or manager--trying to ask her questions. I ended up losing the battle for the cashier's attention and once the woman was satisfied with the information she received, I was able to return to ordering. Culture starts at the top and what happened here is such basic customer service that seems to have been lost at some point over the last 10 or 15 years, and it's not all that difficult. Address the customer and their needs, then talk about whatever you need to discuss, especially since the conversation had nothing to do with me or my order. Despite all this, the ube mochi was fantastic! I'd be hesitant to stop here again, but if you are hellbent on coming here, definitely get the ube! Strawberry and matcha were decent as well, but ube is where it's at. read more

I've only tried the strawberry milk tea boba, Thai tea boba, and Oreo mochi ring and they were all really great. It's nice that you can customize the sweetness in your drink. I was SO excited when I saw this place open up in Tosa Village! Mochi style donuts have been such a hit in CA. I finally tried it and have to say I am pretty disappointed. I got 3 mochi rings - Ube, Matcha and Passion fruit. The flavors/toppings were a perfect amount of sweet. However, the mochi ring itself tasted more like batter in fried oil than mochi. They also sell korean hot dogs and bing-su (shaved ice) which we tried as well. I got a No.8 cheetos half-mozz/half-hot dog, and I can't say much more than it was fine. So happy to have this place in the area! Mochidonuts, Korean corn dogs and bubble tea - possibly the only areas milwaukee has lagged behind in ethnic food choices. We came after work so the mochi donuts may have been a little lacking. I tried the taro and the churro. Loved the taro....to me the icing made the donut. The churro just had sugar and wasn't as tasty For the dog I got the MOZZARELLA only covered with the potato. I think the hot dog would've added some more substance. Would love to go back for the bubble tea offerings, and how the Crowaffles. Note there is minimal seating (although we did find a seat). read more

Really got nothing to complain about. For the donuts, the texture is chewy and nice and the mouthfeel is not greasy at all. They add flavors to the toppings vs. some fancier shops incorporate the flavors into the dough. The matcha one which I was really looking forward to tasted more on the sweet side and actually like chocolate - sth that you could adjust your expectations if you are looking for strong matcha flavor. The raspberry one is really good! The oolong milk tea with lychee jelly really surprised us. We got 0% sugar and the drink tasted exactly what we always like for our milk tea: rich tea flavor that mixed well with the milk, smooth and refreshing. The lychee jelly was also very refreshing and not overly sweet. We will be back to try other items in the menu! We have heard there is usually 30-45 min wait for the rice dogs... Looking forward to croffles that have become a trendy thing from Asian and YouTube vloggers in recent years. read more

Milwaukee is diversifying and I am here for it!! Usually I have to fly back home to California in order to get my mochi donut fix, but I'm glad I don't have to do that anymore with this new addition to the Tosa food scene. Mochi donuts are a creation that lends inspiration from Hawaiian / Asian cuisine, which tends to utilize mochiko (sweet glutinous rice) flour instead of the average wheat flour. As a result, the donuts are chewier, less dense, and bouncier. MOCHI DONUTS: 4/5 Texture-wise, the donuts at Mochi Ring are pretty similar to mochi donuts I've had at other mochi donut shops. Flavor-wise, Mochi Ring is a bit lacking. There was a decent variety of flavors when I visited. Some of the flavors were just odd though, like funnel cake and maple & bacon, which clearly were meant to cater to a certain demographic (aka those that are used to more traditional donut shops). I would have liked to see more Asian-inspired flavors, like passionfruit, ube, black sesame, etc. I know the menu is rotating, so perhaps I just went on an odd day. I settled on the matcha mochi donut. Texture was great, but the matcha glaze was disappointing and not fragrant enough. I could tell the matcha used was low grade, because it was difficult to taste any tea or floral flavors. The entire donut tasted slightly chocolate-y, in fact, which was odd. KOREAN HOT DOGS: 2/5 Instead of using a thin layer of batter to coat the hot dog, I think the batter was applied too thick and unevenly because the inside of the breading was squishy, dough-y, and undercooked!! Definitely was a very unpleasant surprise when I bit into the hot dog. Everything else about the hot dog was fine. I know Mochi Ring just opened, so I will attribute some of the shortcomings to growing pains. Still really excited to have a mochi donut shop in the area and I'm confident they'll continue to improve! read more

The donut itself was perfectly crispy and light; literally melted in my mouth. The frosting could use some work. I ordered the ube flavor and sadly, I tasted no ube. The frosting was also like an airy cake or cookie frosting and far too messy. Would be great for this to have a shell-like consistency and be more flavorful. With over a dozen of flavors listed on the website, I had assumed I would see more than just five options. Hopefully the daily options will indeed increase as they get more settled in. read more

TLDR: not worth the price, bad quality food i got the matcha milk tea with brown sugar boba, a cajun tornado, and a strawberry and matcha donut. the tapioca pearls were very mushy and the matcha was not matcha-ing at all. it was just tasting like sweetened milk to me. no earthy flavor of matcha like you can usually taste. the matcha donut was not good, it tased savory like a hotdog. and the cajun potato tornado was soooo dry. i peeled apart the batter from the potato and the potato was basically non-existent. just straight dry batter. like fried once and twice and maybe a third time. was not a fan of anything except for the strawberry donut. i returned the tornado and they didn't offer anything other than my money back. i was thinking maybe a new fresh one but the boss was just playing telephone with her employee by having her come back and forth with questions until i got my money back. i ended up throwing away the matcha donut. and then i took it as a sign from the universe when my drink fell off of the roof of my car while i was getting my kid in. would not recommend especially when it costs $20 and only one thing was averagely good. the place itself is cute and looked fairly clean. not a huge selection of donuts but i also came near the end of the day which is what i attribute that to. the pic looks pretty but looks are deceiving i guess read more

The store is near downtown Tosa so on a sunny day, walking in this area is a treat. The inside and outside of the store is clean, table and chairs available outside. The donuts are everything you'd expect them to be: chewy, soft, sweet, tasty. The lychee tea with boba was refreshing. We also had the Cheetos hotdog and potato tornado. EVERYTHING was fire. Mochi Ring has been on my radar for a few months now and I finally got a chance to try the Korean Rice Dog after seeing so many videos on the internet. I got the half cheese half hot dog korean rice dog. It wasnt quite what I was expecting as the first half was cheese and then the second half was hot dog instead of being a combination. The cheese part was amazing but the hot dog part was slightly disappointing. I tried it with their sriracha mayo and honey mustard and they were fine however I think there are better sauces out there that would compliment it better. I will be back however next time I will just stick with the cheese dog and try it with different sauces. I also want to try the mochi donuts as they were beautiful to look at! read more

I have been wanting to try a Korean Corndog for the last year! Was happy when this spot opened. Very Clean space and aesthetically pleasing (for my content creators). I ordered a hot Cheeto corndog/mozzarella stick and a spiral potato (I think that's what it's called). The corndog tasted a little like movie theater cheese but still tasty. The potato spiral was delicious but a little too crunchy for my liking. Nonetheless, I finished both. This seems to be a family business and they would benefit from hiring a couple other employees. I came during the week during my lunch break and had to wait about 10 minutes to order because all the employees were in the back trying to cook. Once I ordered it took about 15-20 minutes for food to be ready. All menu items are not shown online (like the potatoes). Overall great experience and will be back! read more

Tried this place on DoorDash and loved it so much I had to stop in and visit. It's a sort of lowkey location but once I opened the door there was a nice little line of customers going. The lady that took my order was kind and quick. Everyone inside the restaurant was happy and excited to get their drink orders. Love their sparkling lemonades, my fiancé likes the slushes. Stopped by this place to check it out at about noon on a Friday just to see what they would be offering on a Saturday. I was going to take out some ring donuts for a party that night. The number of varieties of donuts was somewhat limited on Friday, and it was not a lot better Saturday, offering maybe 8 different types. I'm a donut lover, and after tasting a few of these I found them to be a cross between a yeast and cake donut. Chewy like a yeast donut, more dense though, like a cake donut. They were tasty and party guests enjoyed them. They were a bit expensive. Also ordered a Thai milk tea without bubbles. Was given a choice of sweetness when ordering. The tea was very good although it took a long time for the order to be filled, even though the place was relatively empty. Restaurant was clean, staff was young and a bit reserved (shy), perhaps recent hires. If you're looking for something different you might give this place a try. But a warning, the donut menu is pretty large, but the offerings on my two visits were limited. read more

Mochi Ring donuts just opened in Wauwatosa, and it has been a happening place! They serve six different flavor mochi donut each day, out of a total of about twenty different flavors. Each donut is $3.50 and there is a discount when you buy more. Mochi donuts are a rice based dough. Not as sweet as a typical donut. They are almost in a class of pastry. I've enjoyed the Oreo, PBJ, Matcha, and Churro. (lol... all in one week. In action they serve multiple different Asian drinks, specialty good are the milk teas, where you pick the type of boba and level of sweetness and ice. Plus they have Korean Rice Hot Dogs, either hot dog, mozzarella cheese, or 50/50, and four different ways to top them. I haven't tried them yet. Open 11am to 8pm. read more

What a fun and exciting addition to the Wauwatosa area! Boba,Korean hotdogs, mochi donuts, and Bing-Su (shaved ice dessert). It was a bit busy when my family and I arrived, so their weren't many options available for donuts available. The staff member, taking our order, apologized for the inconvenience and gave us vouchers for free donuts on our next visit. We were able to try the pineapple, s'mores , strawberry, and churro donuts. The churro and pineapple were our favorites. We were also able to try a mozzarella filled rice corn dog, which was underwhelming in flavor but worth a try. The customer service was awesome (my daughter was able to take a few balloons home from the balloon wreath outside), and the decor is nice and trendy. I've been wanting to try a mochiring for a while so when I saw this new spot in the Tosa village I was definitely ready to check them out. With it's slightly tucked away entrance you might just miss it if you don't know what you're looking for. But inside is a cozy welcoming space with many unique offerings. They have a large variety of teas and toppings for them but I'm not a tea girl so I went with the sparkling lemonade. (Pro tip: shake it up BEFORE you pop in your straw. With some assistance I got it mixed well but definitely would have been easier to just shake.) The MochiRings were all delicious. Really light and great flavors. And since we were there we had to try a Korean rice dog. We went for the half cheese half dog, potato option and it was really good. I definitely recommend trying them. Because they are popular already there may be a bit of a wait for anything other than the MochiRings but they had tons of seating for you to wait comfortably. Got a Korean dog with cheese and was just given fried cheese with no hotdog. Couldn't go return it because I live over 30 mins away. Visited 7/29 around 4:30/5 pm. I tried the Oreo donut and I did enjoy it. Everything else I could have passed on. The Korean hotdog was not spicy as it indicated, it actually had no flavor. I took one bite and tossed the rest, my friend also had the same experience. The slush mango drink was also not sweet at all on a 100% sweetness level I chose. I waited 30 mins for the food item and it was definitely a waste. Lastly there was an ethnic young lady; facial mole, black hair with two braids working the register. She was pulling the ends of her hair and plucking at it. I didn't appreciate that cause she was doing it right in-front of a tray of donuts. She also closed the boxes of donuts for customers with the same hands she was playing around in her hair with. Not sanitary at all. Everyone was nice though for the most part. read more
