Review is just based on the soft serve and sundaes! They also have some food options - burgers, fries, hot dogs, and more. The soft serve was absolutely perfect and this please has a cool feel to it with fair prices! They have a rotating flavor of the day and I ordered the basic chocolate and vanilla swirl. Friend ordered a brownie Oreo sundae. They have a couple picnic tables, plenty of parking, and indoor seating with stools and a bar. Lee's Dairy Treat offers many of the soft serve classics (cones, blitzes, bars, sundaes and shakes in flavors too numerous to count) but they aren't like your local DQ. The old timey ice cream stand is alive and well at Lee's. Order outside through a sliding glass window or at the counter inside, just get there early to avoid the long lines that are expected on any given beautiful Wisconsin evening. I was in the area around dinner time and knew Lee's Dairy Treat is a place I hadn't been to yet. I stopped and ordered a plain cheeseburger and, since it was the season, a medium pumpkin shake. I feel like I got good value for my money with the pumpkin shake. It tasted exactly like it should and it was a good size. They have other ice cream options I'd like to try as well, but I'd be up for getting a shake from them again. The cheeseburger, on the other hand, I would never get again. The burger patty was gas station quality and instead of a slice of cheese, it had a lumpy looking cheese sauce on it. Certainly not worth what I paid for it quality wise. read more

Stopped to try the soft serve with flavor burst tonight. Flavors can added to vanilla soft serve. I believe there were 8 flavor options and I tried the peanut butter. It came out a little melty looking that the ad photos but was still tasty. A perfect treat for a late evening treat. Only sort of weird thing is they take your order and bring out items as they're made but don't collect payment until they hand you the last thing. Works just fine if everyone is there waiting with you but can be a little trickier if you're holding multiple cones etc and you didn't think to pull out cash/card ahead of time. read more

This place reminds me of the old Tasty-Freeze ice cream spots. It's all soft serve with daily vanilla and chocolate and one variety flavor. The mint is excellent and reminiscent of the old Crème de menthe ice cream served at many Wisconsin supper clubs. They have the dip top cones and sprinkle coated ones as well. Food wise, there are hot dogs, sloppy Joe, hamburgers and the usual stuff you'd expect from a spot like this. I must say It's all pretty good, though. They have some picnic tables set up out front which are fun. I'm really happy to see this place going season after season. I used to like to talk football with the owner Lee. He's gone from here now, but his daughter is keeping this experience alive and well. Hopefully for many generations to come. read more

First time ever going to Lee's tonight. We went around 6:30 on a Tuesday night. There was only 3 people seated inside when we arrived. We were greeted immediately by a blonde woman and a teenager behind the counter. They explained the menu to us and showed us where to find everything if we had any questions. ORIGINALLY I was going to get custard, but my boyfriend ended up ordering food so of course I ordered food too. He got a burger and fries and I got a hot dog. They were basic but delicious. The custard itself was outstanding. Great price, great portions. We'll be back. Now let me get to the service. This is why we'll be back. My boyfriend pointed out the pictures behind us. We noticed the pictures had the same woman behind the counter but at a younger age. We couldn't believe it. You wouldn't guess from the absolutely pleasant attitude she had. I didn't get her name but she was so kind. She was training the teenager behind the counter(clearly very new) and she was so patient and sweet. The world needs more incredible people like her. When we left, it was getting a lot busier. There was a line outside and the inside filled up quite quickly. We can see why people love this place. read more

Totally hole in the wall dive restaurant. It's truly a drive up and park your car then order at a window type place. There is very limited seating inside == about 5 or so. 3 picnic table and several benches for outdoor seating. Only drawback is that people do bring their pets and will scare off several of the other patrons. Food is is okay at best. But otherwise the ice cream is great. read more

Our go to ice cream spot. The selection is vast - sundaes, shakes, cones, "blizzards", etc. something for everyone! The prices are maybe a little steep, and you should know, it is only soft serve, not custard or regular hard packed ice cream. But we still love it! They switch up their twist flavors daily which is fun, too. The ordering / pick up process feels a bit clumsy as it's all done out the same window, but this is my only grievance! read more

Lee's Dairy Treat has that feeling of a classic ice cream stand! Reminded me of ice cream cones during the summer as a kid. They do classic soft serve, malts, and sundaes, but they also do hot food! Burgers, dogs, pretzels, and others. We got a chocolate dipped chocolate ice cream cone and some raspberry variations. They were all good! I have driven past here so many times and I never stopped before so today I did a U turn and stopped. It was already after 1pm and I still had some running around to do so it was about lunch time and I thought that these cold treat places usually have the low quality chili dogs which I kind of could go for and I'm right there. I wanted a little something but not a full lunch, fast and do just a hit and run so I could keep going. Everyone around me was doing cold treats but that would have to wait for another visit. While my order was being made I could hear the microwave noises so I knew my super average chili dog was getting made. The chili dog looked pathetic and just what I imagined getting so they didn't let me down. The dog was one of the cheap ones and not the 100% all beef with the snappy casing i.e. no Vienna here. The chili was mild and didn't taste like it came from a can which was very tight and all meat. The bun was your fresh standard white version and did the trick. Overall was it the best chili dog, not at all but it was exactly what I expected from a dairy treat place and just what I wanted in the spur of the moment. read more

I have been visiting this place since about 5 or 6 years of age. My father took our family here in the summer back in the 80's and 90's and I loved it. Sometimes I even rode my bike here just for a cone or shake. That's back in the days when they had that hobby shop across the street, when I made model air planes. Talk about history... I no longer live in Wisconsin, but when I come here I always stop by Lee's for a cone, usually a dipped one. This place is a excellent mom and pop shop, they know how to treat their customers and always deliver a excellent product. It is nice to see small local businesses and I am glad they are still in Brookfield. read more

Very cute little ice cream shop. Walk up and order, also has a few seats at a bar inside. Ton of topping options available. I ordered a strawberry shortcake sundae and it comes with shortcake bites (the size of cookie dough pieces you'd get on ice cream). Also strawberry topping. I have been coming to Lee's Dairy Treat since I was born. One of my earliest memories is sleepily eating a soft-serve icecream cone with crunchy stuff on the outside, following a long evening watching 4th of July fireworks in New Berlin. As a kid, I was always fascinated by the ice cream cone shaped garbage cans, and my imagination would soar at the thought of the sundaes depicted in the hand-drawn menu signs hung in the windows. The experience of dining at Lee's Dairy Treat hasn't changed at all in the last 25-30 years - the neon sign is still a blue-glowing beacon drawing you towards delicious, simple ice cream tastiness perfect for warm summer nights. You stand in line for your turn up at the window to order, and once you order you wait right there while the girls put your food together and pass it back through. (as an adult, I couldn't help but notice that this was a little inefficient, but oh wells! It kept people waiting in the line a bit longer than probably needed.) This place is pretty basic - we got the Royale Sundae (soft serve, bananas, your choice of topping - we got marshmallow fluff) and a Turtle Sundae (hot caramel, pecans, and hot chocolate shell) I missed the "chocolate shell" on the menu and assumed I'd be getting hot fudge, so I was a bit disappointed in the turtle, but that was my own fault, not theirs. We also ordered soft pretzels with cheese and onion rings. These are straight out of the freezer, but were tasty and inexpensive enough that I'm turning a blind eye to that. The pretzel with processed cheese-sauce was actually exceptionally yummy, IMO. Service was okay but not excellent - they have very young teenagers working and they were busy, so my expectations weren't really high and it was fine. Once you have your food, you grab a spot at a picnic table along the edge of the parking lot and hang out staring at the firefly show in the grassy area just beyond. I've lived in New Berlin for most of my life and have driven past Lee's a lot but never have gone there to get ice cream. But today was the day I was going to break the cycle and go get ice cream here. It's a small little place & there isn't a lot of seating inside. This is more of a place you buy your ice cream & eat it while sitting on the grass/picnic table or in your car. They have a small food menu - they have things like hot dogs & hamburgers as well as French fries. The best thing they serve is soft serve ice cream. I got a banana split and it was delicious. It definitely hit the spot. My husband got the swirl ice cream dipped in butterscotch - yummy! I definitely will be back - I don't know what took me so long to come here!! read more

The families fries were bland and soggy, onion rings were hard as rocks- water was added to the malt that I ordered, it was just basically blended ice cream (with no flavor) floating on top of water in a glass. Ordered the roast beef and sloppy joe for the wife and I and the sandwiches were mostly bun with a very thin layer of beef and sloppy joe. Call me delicious because in a nutshell - that's Lee's Dairy Treat! I stopped in on a Sunday Funday hungry for some ice cream and set to taking pictures. That amused the heck out of the owner, who is the second generation owner of this dessert nirvana offering sundaes, shakes, cones and many other frozen treats. I like that. One of the employees came out and told me she was a loyal customer turned worker and that did my heart good. It's nice to support local businesses that are active in the community. Now, let's talk about the ice cream. They had two kinds of soft-serve loaded up - chocolate/vanilla and mint/vanilla. Tons of toppings - I made mine hot fudge. It was delicious and a medium set me back $3.50. A great deal for a fantastic ice cream sundae. And a great thing to do on a hot summer day! read more

Love this place. I live off Greenfield, and I drive by it every day. My only wish is that I had a chance or a good excuse to stop here more often! The ice cream is not necessarily unique, but boy do they ever have a million and a half flavors for shakes, sundaes, etc. Wow! I never know what to get. Their prices are reasonable and their ice cream treats hit the spot. On top of it all, super friendly and welcoming place! I love it. Garbage garbage garbage! This place just reopened for the season so I'm guessing everything we got served was expired! I got a hot fudge sundae, the soft serve tasted freezer burnt and the fudge had no taste at all. My wife got the raspberry shortcake sundae, looked good until she tasted it. The raspberries were stale and watered down and the shortcake tasted like old bread. She took it back to the window and the lady argued with her saying she can't return it and there is nothing she could do. Not even a replacement ! She also had the hot pretzel and that was bad too. I suppose I was let down as I thought this place would be better than Dairy Queen which is where my mistake lies. Realizing that it's called Lee's Dairy Treat after all, it is basically just a knock off of Dairy Queen. I was hoping for better quality ice cream/ingredients from a local non-franchise store but was disappointed. Portions were also nothing special for the banana split sundae and all the fruits were canned instead of fresh. I could have just went to Dairy Queen instead. I love Lee's, but mostly for nostalgic reasons. My brother and I used to bike there and enjoy frozen treats as kids. My husband and I take out son there now for yummies during the hot weather. The soft serve is great and the menu offers a vast array of sundaes, shakes, and even old fashioned dipped cones. The prices are low, especially when compared to the FroYo bars around town. They offer food also, but I'd stick to the ice cream. The food is nothing to write home about. Just a quaint place to make memories.......like my daughter and I made some 30 years ago, I recall many chats and hot dogs between my little Jennifer, me and LEE himself. How good! Super old school ice cream stand that I have been going to since I was a little kid (over 35 years). Like what others said, there's really nothing special about the soft serve (ice milk?), but it's the whole aura of the little ice cream stand that makes this place so special. I do, however, love the chocolate dipped and the twinkle cones a lot! The selection of treats is HUGE, and prices are very reasonable. The kids who run the counter are really nice as well. The stand is very family oriented, so it's a wonderful place to take the kids for a cold one (the other kind of cold one) on a hot summer night! read more
