I found some excellent Bar B Q in Wisconsin....Milwaukee to be exact. I had dinner at Double B's recently and it was a very satisfying visit. It's open Tuesday-Saturday for lunch and dinner. Parking is on the street and is free for 2 hours which is plenty of time to dine here. It's nice inside and has a full bar. I ordered the Smokehouse Half Chicken platter for $18. It came with cole slaw, cornbread and one of their side dishes. I chose the Smokehouse Beans and it took about 10 minutes for the meal to arrive. While I waited I checked out the 4 sauces that were on the table and liked the KC mild the best. When the food arrived I noticed the large 1/2 chicken and the sides. The chicken was juicy and delicious with a smokey flavor. Paired with the KC mild sauce, it was yummy (4). Yes, their chicken is very good but it was the side dishes that really impressed me. The beans were rich in flavor and savory. Perfect (5). The cole slaw was creamy and smooth tasting making an excellent palate cleanser (5). The cornbread was soft and warm with that original cornmeal aroma (5). And finally, I ate the 2 pickle slices added on the plate. Fresh tasting with a firm texture and perfect flavor (5). The table service by Maxie was friendly and efficient. I wish I could have had one more meal here to test other menu items before giving this score. My experience has found that many bar b q restaurants prepare very good meats but it's their side dishes that make some of them stand out. The chicken was very good and I would order it again but the side dishes really impressed me. Even the pickles! For those reasons, I give Double B's a 5 score. This is as good as it gets. read more

We went to a Yelp event prior and my husband was unable to attend so we finally made it to visit the restaurant for a meal. There were 5 of us. We started with our drinks: Wisconsin Old Fashioned, water, Shirley Temple, Root Beer and water. Then we ordered our meals: Brisket Burnt Ends with cornbread, coleslaw and baked beans, 1/2 lb Angus Cheeseburger with bacon and cornbread, 1/2 lb Agus Burger with fries, Sliced Brisket with cornbread, coleslaw and mac n cheese and last, Pull Chicken Sandwich only mayo and ketchup and fries. Not one person had anything bad to say and we all ate well. The portion size was perfect and the presentation was good as well. The flavor was so savory and the sauces on the table we perfect to allow us to try one or all. Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Our food was served hot. Oh, and we can't forget about the second Wisconsin Old Fashioned. Plus the to-go orders. 4 double orders of cornbread and 2 orders of Smoked Bacon Balls. There is a full bar and plenty of seating. WOW! My wife had been trying to get me here for quite some time and we final went on Saturday (02/28/2026). Hands down the BEST cornbread I've had! But don't get that mistaken I ordered and enjoyed the Brisket Burnt Ends with mac and cheese. When it was served I got the baked beans instead. Even as they also brought out the mac and cheese after I am not complaining because those were one of the best beans I've had a well. There was nothing on my plate that I didn't enjoy. The pickles were good as well. I also tried my wife's sliced brisket and that was delicious as well. She enjoyed it so much she only shared a bite lol. Our server was attentive and fast. Been here a long time ago, and more recently attended an event where the food was catered by Double B's. It was amazingly good, so we decided to come back to the restaurant. Food: The food was just as good as what we had at the catered event. To start, we ordered a couple of the specialty cocktails. I had the Fireside Old Fashioned with cranberry juice and cinnamon, and my partner ordered the hot Maple Cider. Both were perfect for a very cold night. For food, I ordered the Burnt Ends appetizer. It's served on Texas toast and came with a generous portion of meat. There was just a little bit of sauce on it, which made it easy to really explore the four different sauces they offer. I especially enjoyed the Carolina sauce, which is mustard based rather than ketchup based. The KC mild, which is more traditional, was my second favorite. Honestly, all four were good. My partner ordered the Brisket Sandwich. It came out hot, tender, flavorful, and was a very good portion. What was super yummy, was the side of mashed potatoes. There were smooth, rich, creamy, with a few chunks. After all that food, we still wanted to try a piece of the Peanut Butter Pie. Rich peanut butter mouse, with a chocolate ganache. Great way to end the meal. Service: I don't know if this was just an off night, but the service was very disappointing. The restaurant was less than half full. We were seated right away, but then waited nearly ten minutes before our server came by to acknowledge us. From what we could tell, she did not seem overly busy with other tables. Once we finally got water, we became concerned about how long the meal might take, so we ordered both drinks and food at the same time. The food came out fairly quickly, but our drinks did not. She apologized and brought them out shortly afterward. The meal itself was excellent, and we wanted to order dessert, but again had to wait for the server. After dessert, we had to wait yet again. You can see into the kitchen area, and at one point she appeared to be busy organizing condiment bottles. We also noticed other tables starting to look impatient with the service. Atmosphere: It's not a very large space, but it has a nice, casual feel. There is a foyer at the entrance, so you don't get hit with cold air when people come in and out. Seating options include tables for different size groups, as well as upholstered couches that can be configured in various ways. There is also a bar that is separated from the main dining area, though you can eat there as well. I love the food and the atmosphere, and I would come back again. I would just hope for a much better service experience next time. read more

I have enjoyed Double B's over the years; at work events, at a wedding, and for pick up. I finally ate at the restaurant for the first time! It's a cute little place and I enjoyed my dining experience. Our server was friendly and efficient. The food was delicious, as always. I'm not a big bbq person but when I do crave it, this is exactly what I want. I'm such a sucker for all of the sides. Best mashed potatoes I've ever had. Double B's is located about 10 minutes from downtown Milwaukee. Limited street parking is available. Upon entering, we were warmly greeted and offered table seating, but decided to saddle up at the bar. The bartender wasted no time in introducing herself and taking orders. After perusing the menu, I decided on the brisket sandwich w/sweet potato fries and a sweet tea. Not too long after, it was delivered to me with a smile. Brisket was tender and flavorful, not fatty. Sweet potato fries were crispy to perfection. Sweet tea was a refreshing, but a tad bit sweet. As an added treat, the bartender offered a complimentary cornbread muffin, which was absolutely delicious. Overall, this was a quite satisfying visit. Second time here and it's officially a must-stop when we're in town from California. Gorgeous decor, super friendly staff, and food that absolutely delivers. Burnt ends on Texas toast = . Homemade lemonade? Best I've ever had (I had three!). Brisket, smoked turkey, kielbasa, and ribs were all tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Happy I found the place whilst in Milwaukee. The place was pretty packed, with a 40 or so minute wait. The interior was nice, and also perhaps a bit dark. There was a bar and then lots of regular tables. I ordered to go and it took 15-20 minutes to fulfill the order. What led me to choose this place is that they have burnt ends. (If you've never had burnt ends and you have a chance to, that's what you're ordering.) In addition to the burnt ends I got the kielbasa, in hopes that the little one would eat some, and some corn. The meals came with corn bread and coleslaw. I think I also got a side of macaroni and cheese because you never know what a toddler is going to decide to eat or not.... The burnt ends were delicious, though we didnt' eat them all because some were a little fatty. The kielbasa was delicious!! It's not the same as a hot link you might get at another BBQ place, though. But I love kielbasa and would order this again. Luckily, the babe did choose to eat a few bites of it. If they have a mixed plate, that might be what I'd choose so I could have both. The cornbread turned out to be the biggest winner in my kiddo's estimation. I have had better cornbread but I would have eaten it if she hadn't been so fond of it. The macaroni and cheese was ok, and again it's something I'd eat if I had ordered it as a side with my meal but I'm not sure I'd choose it again. Finally got a chance to go here after burning through our city tins. We went on a Tuesday evening so if wasn't too busy at all. I love the way this joint is decorated and lit. The staff were extremely polite all around. We ordered a two meat platter and a wedge salad. The sliced brisket was very good and to me is a baseline test for any BBQ restaurant. We were looking for a lunch spot in West Allis and decided to stop at this place. I had been before and enjoyed it, but it was my husband's first time and he was excited to give it a try. We arrived just after the typical lunch rush and were seated right away, which was great. However, the service felt slower than expected. It took a while for our waitress to come by to take our drink and food orders, and there was a noticeable delay in getting our bill at the end as well. What made it more frustrating was that the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, several tables were open, and it didn't seem like they were understaffed. The delay didn't seem to come from being overwhelmed, which made it a bit more noticeable. That said, the food was good! We ordered the sliced brisket, wings, and of course, some cornbread. Everything was delicious. The brisket was tender and flavorful, the wings had a great texture, and the cornbread was a definite highlight, moist, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor. As for sauces, the Texas BBQ was our favorite, with the spicy one coming in a close second. Overall, while the service could have been a little better, the food was good and we'd come back again. The food from Double B's BBQ is exceptional! We tried everything and, although we overindulged, every dish was spectacular! The chef's dedication is evident in each flavor. The brisket was perfectly tender with three sauces, each providing its own unique taste. The Redneck Sunday was tots, pulled pork, cheese, onions, and sauce topped with sour cream--that was fantastic! I couldn't get enough of the Mac and Pigs, but the cornbread truly stole the show. The smoked chicken wings needed no extra toppings. I wish I had a bigger stomach. This is just what you want in a BBQ. I plan to cater my next fun event, and I know my guests will all be thrilled and probably will eat too much. We enjoyed the food outside of the West Allis location so I cannot review the business's home. However, the care put into the preparation of the food is sure to be reflected in the restaurant. No wonder they keep getting "The Best of" awards. They deserve every one. read more

Burnt brisket ends were tasty and the fried onions on top gave them a nice little crunch. Corn bread was awesome, loved the tiny dollop of butter on top as well. I would give them 6 stars if I could - the food was phenomenal, but their great customer service stood out. I recently ordered catering for a small corporate event and mistakenly put the wrong date and didn't realize until it was delivered a day earlier than planned. Despite it being entirely my fault, Double B's took the food back with them and redelivered on the intended date at no additional charge. Double B's catered our wedding and it was INCREDIBLE. We did a tasting with them before booking and they gave us so much food, as well as boxes to take left overs home! They sat us in a big corner booth with lots of spaced, tucked away in the restaurant. On the day of the wedding, they were amazing and everyone absolutely loved the food! People came up to us all night saying how good it was, and even after the wedding, we got so many comments and messages about how great it was! We came here for lunch and the inside is so cute! Lots of plants, natural light, and slow jazzy music. The service is slow, but the food is GREAT! We got the burnt end sandwich with a side of fries. (Not my favorite fry, so maybe I'll try the mac & cheese next time.) The burnt ends were so tender and smoky and it came out super fast. I really like their Carolina BBQ sauce and Texas BBQ. We had reservations, but also we were happy at the bar. We took a Lyft. Again, it was Friday. But at some point we all realized they had sorta forgotten all about us. We were gracious and they moved their fastest to figure it out. And then, we had the best damned time with our server! She took such great care of us and had such a great rapport with the table. My husband and I have been coming here for several years. Not only is it the very best BBQ in the metro Milwaukee area, but the staff are absolutely fantastic! They are consistently friendly and gracious. Recently, I brought a family member in with a wide range of food allergies and they actually have their own menu breakdown so folks with allergies can easily make decisions without having to keep asking staff questions. They also went so far out of their way to accommodate my sister-in-law's air born allergies without making us feel different or high maintenance. We heard great things about Double B's BBQ. It was standing room only and about a 20 minute wait. So we waited. Ordered 2 sliced Brisket and fries platters, pulled ham platter, 2 Brisket sandwiches. They brought out a variety of 4 BBQ sauces including Texas bold, XXX picante, Carolina and KC mild. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a nice casual feel. Prices for meals were about what I would have expected when ordering. The brisket had good flavor and they gave a reasonable amount. All the food was delicious. If there were two things that would have enhanced our visit it would have been a larger size Coleslaw (the container was very small) and wish they had a spicer hot BBQ sauce. I will be upfront and say I'm used to good, southern BBQ and am hard to please with this cuisine. That being said, our family has tried Double B's a few times. The first, we weren't entirely pleased with the ribs or brisket bc they weren't as "fall apart" as we like. We did want to give it another shot, though, and I am glad we did! The meat is all seasoned very well, which can be hard to find in the area. We have tried the spare ribs, baby back ribs, pulled ham, pulled pork, burnt ends, and chicken. They are very flavorful and pretty juicy, and the sauces are good, solid choices. The only meat we didn't care for was the baby back ribs which just aren't our favorite style. The sides we have tried have been good as well, and the pie is great! We have had good service here. The restaurant has a "nice casual" feel with lots of greenery and nice decor, which I appreciated. I think it was a perfect storm that night which led to the poor service. Our appetizer was comped due to the long wait times, so I appreciate the observance of our experience from the wait staff. The space itself is gorgeous, the staff was friendly and immediately was clearing any skates, topping off drinks, etc. I split a meat platter with my SO and we got the pulled pork and burnt ends. Pulled pork was definitely both of our favorite. Burnt ends were decent but someone else had baby back ribs which I tried and wow, definitely getting those next time. I was craving some barbecue and since I grew up for a little bit in Texas I'm very picky about certain things...like brisket. I was told this place was really good but was very hesitant when I walked in because it was quite different from the barbecue spots that I'm used to. I'm used to the type of places where you walk in and it's basically just a grill and a shack and people are cooking and once the food is gone it's gone for the day. However, this place was very different when you walk in. It looks very, very nice on the inside and they have a full bar with a selection of beers on their menu as well. Once I looked at the menu though I realized this was the real deal for barbecue. I ended up getting a platter with the smoked pulled pork that comes with a cornbread muffin, a side (I ended up getting baked beans), coleslaw and pickles. They have four different barbecue sauces at the table: the first one was Kansas City which is pretty mild, Texas which has a little bit of a kick to it, hot- which I didn't even try because I don't like spicy food, and Carolina which if you're familiar with North Carolina they use a vinegar base instead of an actual sauce for their barbecue. For a side we ended up getting the burnt ends which are the burnt ends of the brisket and it comes with a piece of Texas toast under the burnt ends. The sauce on the burnt ends is the mild Kansas City sauce. The flavor on the bird ends is really good and the brisket was perfect leaving Texas for so long you get really picky about whether a place can make brisket or not very well and this place definitely cuts the cake for that one. The smoked pork was really good and because I couldn't choose between the sauces I ended up using the Kansas City mild and the Carolina Sauce. Let me just say that both sauces were perfect on the smoked pulled pork but Carolina was pretty tangy but it had a different type of flavor than what I normally accustomed. It went really well with the pork and it made me remember when I would get pulled pork when I lived in North Carolina. The Kansas City sauce was also really good. It's definitely mild but has a sweet taste which is just what I like when I have any type of barbecue sauce on my meat. The service was really great. Our server was very friendly and actually helped us try to figure out what we might like on the menu because we were being very indecisive. He also was great at having a sense of humor with us and how it was hard for me to eat barbecue with one arm down due to my surgery. This isn't the barbecue spot you would come to if you're just expecting to grab a platter and walk out the door in your jeans and flip-flops type of thing. This is a place where you'd bring out of town guests if you want them to try barbecue but have a little bit more of an upscale experience. For the price and the quality of the food it was definitely unbeatable around here and I'll definitely be back soon! read more
