The Archie and fries. Photo does not do justice to the behemoth that this burger is.

I simply google searched for the best smash burgers in Milwaukee and this is the place that came up first. Having never been I figured I would give it a try. I am so glad that I stopped to enjoy this epic lunch. I went in about 1 o'clock and was immediately seated at the bar where I was also served immediately. Once I ordered my food, it was out in minutes. The music playing was classic rock which I loved, and the overall vibe was pretty chill. I ended up going with an Archie burger, which is a double patty smashed burger and ordered a Coke and a side of fries. All of that came out to 18.99 which I think these days is a bargain, considering the burger had to be cut in half because it was so ridiculously gigantic. You more than get your moneys worth when you order a burger here. The fries were lightly salted and seasoned, but just right to be especially tasty. Overall, my experience was absolutely terrific and this is far more approachable and affordable in my opinion than something like five guys or any other supposed Smashburger place in town. Do yourself a favor and hid Archie's for the most legit Smashburger you'll find.

After hearing such great things about this place, and my friends excited for me to try it, I couldn't wait to try the Linda burger after all I had to! It did not disappoint. It was bursting with flavor, substance, and a delicious fresh potato bowl! It was difficult to pick up so I used a spoon. The burger did not hold up well but the taste made up for it! The staff were amazingly friendly and engaging like old friends at Cheers bar. The only thing that wasn't quite right was the flavor of the panko onion rings lacked flavor after all of the yumminess in the burger. It's very sizable but not didn't hit the spot so I left most of it. Love how Scratch Ice Cream is connected for that after dinner sweet tooth but I was too full.

I recommend. The atmosphere is between a classic diner and corner bar, it's very nice. The service was fast but still friendly. The burgers are very good with yummy crispy-like edges, as it's a smash burger. You find your seat and then order at the bar.

I love me a good smash burger and Archie's may be one of the best in Milwaukee. Remodeled to have the look and feel of a '50s diner, simply order at the bar and take the number back to your seat. They have a great beer selection (bottles/cans/tap) as well as some cocktails for those to wish to imbibe with their food. I went with the single cheeseburger and it was perfectly prepared-crispy edges, great sear on a wonderful bun. If going back, I would probably opt for the double cheeseburger and the sauce to help round out the bun:beef ratio. Really cute place with an ice cream shop attached for those to wish to grab something sweet after their burger. Archie's definitely lives up tp the hype.

Another solid meal at Archie's - we had onion rings, fries, and the #2 burger. The potato buns are the perfect vehicle for the crispy-edged burgers - pillowy soft! The thick onion rings are super tasty. Our food came out quickly, and everyone was really friendly. Seating was at a premium but we were able to find seats before our food was ready. Always a bonus to have Scratch Ice Cream next door for dessert!

Recently visited Archie's Flat Top for my husband's birthday and had a great experience. The smashburgers were huge, perfectly seasoned and incredibly satisfying - exactly what you want from a burger joint! The service was also very kind and welcoming, it was also family friendly which makes it even better. And to top it off, we enjoyed Scratch ice cream after, the strawberry flavor was a classic. Definitely a place we will recommend and happily return to!

We had a fun, casual dinner at Archies Flat Top Grill in West Allis! The restaurant is clean, staff is friendly, and the diner vibe is cute and relaxed. My burger was a little more smashed than I expected, but still delicious--I especially loved the onions! The fat, crispy onion rings were amazing too. Adults enjoyed PBRs, and the kids loved malts made with Scratch ice cream (available at local grocers). Bonus fun: there's pinball! Highly recommend for a laid-back family night out. Enjoy

The single with the seeded bun, tomato, lettuce. Looked like a mess.

I had the single it was good, fries are extra. My guy had the single with the sauce and seeded bun. It looked awful upon arrival. Hamburger was hanging off the bun. Onion rings were run of the mill they had an off flavor like bad oil.

First time here and we were not disappointed. Came on a Thursday, right as they opened at 11:30. The place has an nostalgic feel to it. Everything from the neon signs, the checkerboard tile floor, vinyl seats and formica tops, makes you feel like you stepped back 70 years (before my time). Big windows on the front for lots of natural light. The restaurant is also connected to "Scratch" Ice Cream, and they share the dining rooms (separate review for that). For seating you have two dining room areas with table for 2-4 people. There is also a counter for eating too. Got greeted right away, and help with the menu. (Thanks Betsy). There are plenty of great sounding items on the menu, ranging from burgers, to sausage and chicken breast sandwiches. They even have a black bean burger if you're vegetarian. I settled on the Archie Burger, two smashburger patties with the the fixings, and a potato bun. OMG! I could not believe how good the burgers were. They smashed it so much that there were an incredible amount of caramelized lacy edges that were extremely flavorful. The onions, cheese and chipotle sauce were a perfect accompaniment. I wanted to eat the entire thing, but with the order of onion rings and the promise of ice cream for dessert, I had to take some leftovers home. That was a very difficult decision. By the time we finished the meal, the rest of the place had filled up. By the looks (and pleasant sighs) you could tell that everyone else was enjoying their meals. Definitely jumped to the top of my "must have" burgers. (t

Got take out from this place because I had read about it being a great spot for burgers and wasn't really that impressed. I thought the fries were great, can't really mess that up. The fried onion rings were...interesting. It was like the dough was really thick or something cause yeah it was crunchy on outside but the inside was chewy like the dough didn't quite cook all the way through and was gummy around the onion itself. Didn't even finish them. Burgers were underwhelming too. It's a smashburger sure, but when eating it you wished it was at least juicy cause it was just so plain. Mind you mine how other toppings but yeah, definitely was expecting way more.

Bestttt smashburgers around mke fr. Loved the retro vibes inside. Our food literally came out in 5 mins too???? My patty was literally exploding out of my burger and tbh some of it had to be sacrificed bc it was falling apart but that made it so worth the money. Fries were definitely enough for 2 to share!!! and then after dinner, you can get ice cream at scratch next door - they're literally connected! Would highly recommend getting burgers here

This past Sunday me and two of my friends decided to give Archie's a try. We heard nothing but good things about them and I like good burger even though I don't need much on it to enjoy it. I checked out their menu before hand and it's small, but sometimes you don't need to have a lot on a menu to serve great food. My friend with just fries because I just learned she's not really a burger person. Now you may think how is she your friend and not know this? Me and her bf been friends about 5 months or so I am learning as I go lol. She just went with an order of fries and I went with the #2 minus the onion with a Coors Banquet and her bf went with all the toppings. A lot of $3 beers and if you sell Banquet at this price, you're okay by me. While waiting for our food I noticed that they had Malort so I asked the employee for 2 shots. Yes, I am one of those weirdos who likes the must hated booze known to man kind but got my friend Ty on the Malort train and he likes it as well. It's the aftertaste to us anyways that reminds us of grapefruits and we both enjoy the fruit. We were introduced to fernet that we never heard of it tried, but I would say it's not too bad. Food finally arrives and just the shear smell of the fresh burger has me ready to dig in. I finished my burger, but it was messy and I was full! Nice crispy edges, cheese melted just right on it and the side of pickles nice and crisp. Fries were hot and crispy as a good fry should be. Overall for the price and experience, it was well worth every cent and will be back again. Only this time I would go with one patty, but knowing me I would go with 2 patties again.

We started with the really big pretzel and birria nachos. Both appetizers were HUGE! Everyone loved the pretzel. The nachos were fantastic--loved the pickled onions. They were a unique and tasty addition. After the large appetizers, we realized we didn't have room for full entrees. Everyone ordered some wings. I really wanted to try the hot sauce but was scared to commit. Our server was super friendly and brought me some out to test with bread. Loved the flavor, but it was indeed too hot for me. I went with the garlic parm sauce (so good). My son got a side of the Mac and cheese which I thought was delicious. Cavatappi noodles, breadcrumbs, oh my! ODB's menu might feature some "typical bar food" but it is realllllllly good bar food. The menu has a great variety of choices but isn't too big and overwhelming like a lot of places.
