Our Server was excellent. She was attentive and friendly. However, our food wasn't very good. The wedge salad was terrible. The bbq wasn't very good. This place may be good to others. It's just wasn't the place for me. I won't visit again. The set up was nice and neat. It was beautiful inside. My husband ordered an Old Fashion and it watered down. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for several years. Not only is it the very best BBQ in the metro Milwaukee area, but the staff are absolutely fantastic! They are consistently friendly and gracious. Recently, I brought a family member in with a wide range of food allergies and they actually have their own menu breakdown so folks with allergies can easily make decisions without having to keep asking staff questions. They also went so far out of their way to accommodate my sister-in-law's air born allergies without making us feel different or high maintenance. We've never had less than the best from these amazing folks! read more

Every entree and appetizer we try at Double Bs is perfectly prepared and presented. The menu offers a good variety and an appetizer could make a meal for less hungry diners. Love the inclusion of a soup or salad if someone might not be a big fan of BBQ. Great experience with before dinner drinks at the bar, and very accommodating service when seated at a table. We like to try one favorite and one new entree whenever we eat at Double Bs. Sharing is necessary for a complete dining experience for us. read more

Amazing!! Service is great food is even better! 5 stars isn't enough! Had the Double B burger with brisket. One of the best burgers I have ever had! read more

Best brisket I've ever had! Food was great and so was the service. Definitely going back when we can.

I was craving some barbecue and since I grew up for a little bit in Texas I'm very picky about certain things...like brisket. I was told this place was really good but was very hesitant when I walked in because it was quite different from the barbecue spots that I'm used to. I'm used to the type of places where you walk in and it's basically just a grill and a shack and people are cooking and once the food is gone it's gone for the day. However, this place was very different when you walk in. It looks very, very nice on the inside and they have a full bar with a selection of beers on their menu as well. Once I looked at the menu though I realized this was the real deal for barbecue. I ended up getting a platter with the smoked pulled pork that comes with a cornbread muffin, a side (I ended up getting baked beans), coleslaw and pickles. They have four different barbecue sauces at the table: the first one was Kansas City which is pretty mild, Texas which has a little bit of a kick to it, hot- which I didn't even try because I don't like spicy food, and Carolina which if you're familiar with North Carolina they use a vinegar base instead of an actual sauce for their barbecue. For a side we ended up getting the burnt ends which are the burnt ends of the brisket and it comes with a piece of Texas toast under the burnt ends. The sauce on the burnt ends is the mild Kansas City sauce. The flavor on the bird ends is really good and the brisket was perfect leaving Texas for so long you get really picky about whether a place can make brisket or not very well and this place definitely cuts the cake for that one. The smoked pork was really good and because I couldn't choose between the sauces I ended up using the Kansas City mild and the Carolina Sauce. Let me just say that both sauces were perfect on the smoked pulled pork but Carolina was pretty tangy but it had a different type of flavor than what I normally accustomed. It went really well with the pork and it made me remember when I would get pulled pork when I lived in North Carolina. The Kansas City sauce was also really good. It's definitely mild but has a sweet taste which is just what I like when I have any type of barbecue sauce on my meat. The service was really great. Our server was very friendly and actually helped us try to figure out what we might like on the menu because we were being very indecisive. He also was great at having a sense of humor with us and how it was hard for me to eat barbecue with one arm down due to my surgery. This isn't the barbecue spot you would come to if you're just expecting to grab a platter and walk out the door in your jeans and flip-flops type of thing. This is a place where you'd bring out of town guests if you want them to try barbecue but have a little bit more of an upscale experience. For the price and the quality of the food it was definitely unbeatable around here and I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Best ribs I've ever had! And we found out that they're rated #1 in Wisconsin and #47 in the country Their Smoked Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf was awesome, as well! They put 2 slices of Brisket on top of it. The service was so welcoming and on top of her game. Ambience is perfect. Looking out the windows, this Hawaiian Islander felt like I was in small town USA. Love it here! Leaving here satisfied and content! Aloha from Hawaii visitors read more

I will be upfront and say I'm used to good, southern BBQ and am hard to please with this cuisine. That being said, our family has tried Double B's a few times. The first, we weren't entirely pleased with the ribs or brisket bc they weren't as "fall apart" as we like. We did want to give it another shot, though, and I am glad we did! The meat is all seasoned very well, which can be hard to find in the area. We have tried the spare ribs, baby back ribs, pulled ham, pulled pork, burnt ends, and chicken. They are very flavorful and pretty juicy, and the sauces are good, solid choices. The only meat we didn't care for was the baby back ribs which just aren't our favorite style. The sides we have tried have been good as well, and the pie is great! We have had good service here. The restaurant has a "nice casual" feel with lots of greenery and nice decor, which I appreciated. We'll be back! read more

Walked in and sat at bar. Cute little vibe and rustic, but hipster enough to play well. Great cocktail mentally and bartender. I ordered the slicked brisket fatty and kielbasa sausage. Brisket was divine. A top 5 brisket I've had. Kielbasa was good. Mac n cheese very good. Enjoyed the cornbread muffin thoroughly. Would go back and will go back. read more

Had the opportunity to try this restaurant. We had reservations for a group of 8s on a busy Saturday night. The place was crowded but the receptionist gave up her seat to allow my 87 yo mother to sit while we waited for the table to be ready. We were seated promptly and the service was great. there was a variety of food at the table that was enjoyed. I personally had pork BBQ. It was delicious. We do not live in the area but would return when we come through again. read more

We loved everything about this lil gem in West Allis from the decor, delicious food and attention from the server. It was crowded at 5:30pm on a Thursday which I loved and we got seated at a cozy table, told about the specials, and had time for craft cocktails before dinner. From the presentation to the taste it was delicious!!!! read more

If we could rate this more than 5 stars we would have!! Everything was amazing. Our server Nikki was a sweetheart & all of the flavors in our food were absolutely delicious. This is one of my favorite restaurants! The food is always amazing! Went here for lunch on a Wednesday to meet my sisters and brother-in-law. Never been here on a Wednesday before, so did not know about the Smoked Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf! Wow! If you want to try it, make sure you come hungry because it is a lot of food! Mashed potatoes on top of thick bread with two slices of meatloaf wrapped in the smoked bacon. With two slices of brisket cross crossed on top with mild bbq on top! It was amazing! Highly recommend! The staff are always amazing and friendly! Dining room is very modern, comfortable and roomy! Easily one of the top BBQ places in the Milwaukee area! Looking for a lunch spot in West Allis and decided to stop at this place. I had eaten their BBQ before with Yelp and enjoyed it. Great BBQ and great customer service. Went there after attending the auto show at the fair park and wasn't disappointed one bit.

I can add Wisconsin to another state I have ate BBQ in and this was sure some good que! I was in town for the Braves and Brewers game and our waitress told us they were catering for the Atlanta Braves that day! I ordered the meat and meat platter. I chose brisket and had the back back ribs recommended to me. The ribs were superb! They were tender, tasty, and easy to chew! The brisket was really good too. It was in-between being fatty and moist. My friend let me sample the kielbasa. I'm from Alabama so I'm still learning the various types of sausage. I enjoyed it and it went extremely well with the Carolina mustard. Speaking of sauces, there are 4: Carolina Mustard, KC mild (sweet), Texas Bold (mild but tangy), and Picante. The Picante had a bite to it but as I enjoy sauces with a medium heat, this was in-between mild and medium. The mac and cheese was the best side I had. It had 7 cheeses and the corkscrew noodles. The cornbread was sweet and rich. It seems like Double B insists on including slaw with every plate. I like slaw but I did not like their slaw. It was too dry for me and had a hint of celery that I hate. Surprise, surprise! They had fresh brew sweet tea! And in the no-man's fresh-brewed sweet tea land known as the Midwest, it sure was good! The decor is a little odd for a BBQ joint. There are plants everywhere! The best part of Double B's were the ribs, cornbread, Mac and cheese, sauces, and sweet tea. If I'm back in Milwaukee, I'm looking for a return to Double B's read more

Walk into the smokey smell of BBQ! Cute decor throughout this neat restaurant. Jenn, our server was great! She was attentive and explained the menu and options well, as this was our first visit. The smoked bacon balls were delicious meatballs wrapped in bacon. They came with Thai chili sauce and blue cheese to dip. The baby back ribs were flavorful, even without adding sauce (the true test). The brisket was good. it could have been a bit more tender and juicy. We loved the coleslaw, just the right amount of sweet. The raisin bread pudding dessert is also a must try! On a side note, the restrooms here were the cleanest restrooms I have ever seen in a public establishment. My mom enjoyed her birthday dinner here and we will be back! Until next time.... read more

We've been before and really liked it. But this time we went because it was featured in our Old Fashioned passport. Usually we just stop for drinks from the passport places but we couldn't not have dinner here too. It's too good. We went at primetime on a Friday and did have a decent wait (30+) but we did also see a lot of to go orders going out so that is an option if you're not looking for drinks. But the drinks were fabulous. And every bite of food was delicious. And the service was spot on ever being very busy. We got dessert to go so I didn't get a photo but the PB pie is delicious too! We even took home 2 bottles of the KC sauce. Sooo good read more

Double B's was an interesting BBQ spot. I will get straight to the point. I got a burnt ends sandwich from here and was pretty excited but personally I felt like there was way too much smoke flavor on the brisket. Not sure what wood they are using or how they smoked the brisket but the smoke flavor was very very over powering and it took away from the sandwich. I could not finish it. Fries were fine and the corn muffins were ok but I was really looking forward to the brisket sandwich. Staff were friendly and the restaurant looked cool but I got to go so didn't see the whole place. I think for now I am semi disappointed in this restaurant, but really want to try more of their food to see if it is the same across the board. I can't recommend or not recommend this place and will have to go back to try more. read more

Sorry, no pictures. We had just made a 3 hour drive, from La Crosse and we were hungry. We asked the clerk at the hotel where is a good place to eat. The friendly clerk proceeded to give us a paper map of local eateries. My shift partner, asked him "where do you eat?" The nice man suggested Double B's BBQ. So, we walked down the street. Upon entry, nicely greeted by the staff. Sat and ordered drinks. I ordered the sliced brisket, with Mac and Cheese. My co-workers ordered burnt ends with the potatoes. We all enjoyed our meals, felt the price was fair and left happy. read more

Positive: lovely, clean environment. Super friendly wait staff. No blaring music. Comfortable seats. Prompt service. Can't do any better in the professionalism and ambience. Negative: the BBQ is so increadibly boring, uninspiring, it's a bit sad that most people won't ever know truly epic BBQ. A bit on the dry side -- except for the roasted chicken! that was deliciously moist! -- too heavy with rub. Corn bread is dense and chewy. The mac&cheese just meh. The Carolina sauce is delish, but the others are annoyingly thick and flavor is just okay. Having lived in Texas for years, I admit my bar for BBQ might be unrealistically high here in Wisconsin - but I can't untaste perfection. So every BBQ joint I go to will have that in mind as the gold standard. read more

I would give them 6 stars if I could - the food was phenomenal, but their great customer service stood out. I recently ordered catering for a small corporate event and mistakenly put the wrong date and didn't realize until it was delivered a day earlier than planned. Despite it being entirely my fault, Double B's took the food back with them and redelivered on the intended date at no additional charge. This was outstanding service that I never would have asked or expected of any restaurant, and I'm so grateful! read more

I read an article saying that they had won some award and decided to try them out. The place was smaller than I expected, but they fit a lot of people in comfortably. It also had much more upscale decorating than your average BBQ place. Went for dinner with family and started off with an excellent Smoked Manhattan and starters of smoked bacon balls (meatballs wrapped in bacon) and burnt ends; both were delicious. I ordered the 2 meat platter of brisket and 1/2 rack of St. Louis style ribs with a small corn bread muffin and side of maple squash with nuts. The ribs were lean and delicious, and the brisket was lean and tender. Also loved the muffin and squash. My dinner partners had smoked half chicken (very juicy) full rack of ribs and a bean burger. Everyone was very pleased and we needed a couple of boxes for the left overs, so there was plenty of food. The server was very pleasant and friendly and the service was timely. Unfortunately I didn't get pictures of the main courses as we were too eager to dive in, but they looked as good as they tasted. read more

Our server was super personable and laid back. Very knowledgeable too. I had a cider margarita that tasted like fall in a glass. Wish I would've taken a picture but I got the pulled pork and that comes with coleslaw and the most moist and delicious cornbread muffin I've EVER had. Sorry Southerners, but that includes the time I spent in the South. Side note, that's butter on top of the muffin...NOT whipped cream lol I would come back in a heart beat! read more

Wow! Spectacular give me 14 of them right now! It is a rarity for good bbq in Milwaukee and tried this for a birthday. The space has such a cool, cozy and fun vibe. Waitstaff are great and accommodating. This place gets busy to may want to come early to get a seat. They have a great selection of handcrafted, cocktails, beer and wine. My favorite was the smoked Manhattan! I need to come back just to get this again. They have a vast barbecue menu, including appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, and plates. They have pretty typical barbecue sides, such as fries, mashed potatoes, vegetables, coleslaw, and mac & cheese. The ribs and brisket really yummy! I need to come back for these ribs. I really enjoy the sweet potato fries and would pass on the mashed potatoes next time. The most unique part was there six different barbecue sauces that are set at each table. You can tell these are unique and homemade. Definitely a must try place!! read more

Double B's BBQ was a pleasant surprise. We probably never would have known about this little gem if we had not had a gift certificate. from the moment we walked in the staff was incredibly friendly. Loved the bohemian vibe. The place is really well done. They even have a selfie wall as soon as you walk in! The waitstaff was also very attentive. And left us wanting for nothing. We went to Double B's last Saturday night after getting two recommendations from local West Allis residents. I ordered the full rack of spareribs, and my adult daughter ordered the full rack of baby back ribs. Both seemed to be very overcooked, I would say burnt, with the crust hard to a fork and knife which made them really hard to chew. There didn't seem to be any seasoning on the surface of either ribs. Adding the sauce didn't make any difference to the taste but I didn't expect it to. I have had good ribs in multiple places both in the Milwaukee area and well as in other states and these were not good by any means. Both of us were extremely disappointed with the quality of our food. We will not be back. read more

We're from out of town and picked this place based off of Google reviews. It did not disappoint. We checked in at 6:20pm on a Saturday night and were told it would be a 30-minute wait for 3 people. We were seated after about 20-25 minutes. The food came out relatively quickly (~10 minutes). The food was all very good and had great flavor. My husband got the brisket sandwich with pepper jack and thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the half rack of baby back ribs and, while they weren't falling off of the bone, they had a great smokey flavor. My daughter got the chicken tenders and loved them. The highlight, though, was the cornbread. It was SO GOOD! We ended up ordering some cornbread to-go it was that good. We loved the ambience--really enjoyed the blues music they played. Also, the decor was our speed. If we're ever in the area again, we plan to make sure we come back here. read more
