Sometimes a plan doesn't work out and the backup ends up better than the original plan. We went to get burgers for lunch down the block from 27th but that place wasn't open on Sundays. As we walked back to our car someone walked out of 27th Steak & Potato so my husband asked if it was good. And they said it was delicious. So in we went. And EVERYTHING sounded/looked good. We decided to get and share several things and had plenty of food left to take home. The loaded baked potato was delicious. The wings were huge and good flavor. Mac n cheese was pretty standard, good but nothing too different. But omg the gyro fries. I love gyros and obviously get gyro meat as a side to salads etc. But I never would have thought to put it on fries. We got a choice of cheese options and did cheese sauce and it was sooo good. This is something I will crave again for sure!! We also use some of extra cheese on the potato, not that it needed anything more but why let it go to waste, ya know. The restaurant is super clean. The service was really friendly. And while it did take a few minutes to get the food, because it was definitely all made fresh and came out hot. She did mention to everyone that in the future they could call ahead to have it ready by the time they got there. We need to go back to try many other things that sounds yummy, including the dessert case.

Lola is the best! So kind and welcoming - she has the friendliest energy i've ever experienced at a restaurant. Came from Chicago to Milwaukee on a work trip and decided to try this place and it's worth it! It is not a fancy restaurant so don't expect that, it's more of a hidden gem mom and pop style restaurant. The ribeye steak was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned - not too much and not too little. The loaded potato wasn't what I expected to look like but honestly I prefer the way this one was prepared better because it was amazing. The cajun boneless wings were also very good - my bf is not a fan of cajun at all but he cleaned the plate with these! The mozzarella sticks were throughly melted and had lemon pepper seasoning on top which was a great addition to the taste. Lastly, the frozen lemonade was amazing! They had plenty of frozen lemonade options - i chose the strawberry lemonade, and many dessert options. Overall, service was excellent and the food was as well. Definitely will come again when I am back in town.

Staff is nice just didn't make sense my food was undercooked and i wanted a refund and got charged for opening 2 other wings to see if they were bleeding.

They really deliver on service…read moreand flavor, consistently, and they seem research where to get the best and most unique cuts of beef and how best to prepare it. They have steaks you won't find anywhere else in town, or they'll be the first to have it available in the entire state! Sides, apps, and desserts are always great, too! Most recently, we shared the Wagyu Brisket and Gnocchi appetizer (again, no one else has this on their menu), and it was amazing! Our 8oz filet and 20oz bone-in ribeye were perfectly cooked to temperature, and the Truffle Frites and Brussels sprouts were great options for our steaks. The Dark Chocolate Mousse Bar and added vanilla ice cream from local premium ice cream makerr, Scratch, made for the perfect end to our dinner. My girlfriend loved her Pick Me Up (Espresso Martini), and I enjoyed my Chef's A-5 Manhattan, made with Sazerac "washed in Japanese A-5 beef fat," and again - what other place is doing this?!?! Our server, Will, was excellent, as was the rest of the server/busser team! Love this place!

This was a work dinner, otherwise I absolutely would have sent my meal back. The steaks were overwhelmingly salty--so much so that it completely overshadowed the quality of the meat. Even more frustrating, every steak at our table came out rare, regardless of how it was ordered. The asparagus was overcooked, the ramp chowder was just okay, and the dessert honestly tasted like something picked up from Sam's Club rather than made in-house. The drinks were very good, and the service was attentive and professional, which is the reason I gave this place 3 stars. For the reputation and price point, I expected much better. There are MUCH better options in Milwaukee, go elsewhere.

We definitely looked lost because one of the staff came to our rescue and told us to press the lobby button because that's the third floor where the restaurant lives. Stella is a large restaurant with a nice bar area, well stocked with good bourbon. We had a personable server named CJ, who was on top of everything and made our experience that much better. We started with cocktails, hubs had an old-fashioned and I had a paper plane. Stella's bread service was warm rolls with a chili garlic oil. Spicy! Everything we ordered we split between the two of us. We started with the Caesar salad which had the best anchovy dressing. Next was the grilled octopus with a creamy yogurt sauce. We could cut the octopus with a fork because it was that tender. For our main entree, we shared the bone-in ribeye. They offered different toppings, but we were glad we had it naked because it was perfect - tender, medium rare and flavorful. We chose the roasted carrots as a side and they were charred goodness. Happy to say there were no negatives to our dining experience - at all. It was fabulous!

Pigs in a blanket This wasn't much special. Don't wanna offend anyone, but it tasted just like I make at home, with mini sausage and crescent roll can from the market. Tater tot poutine Nothing special with this one either. The tater tots were just like the ones I get from Aldi. Edison butter burger But things got better with the entree. The burger was very nice. Loved the double burger, perfectly seasoned and cooked to medium. All the toppings complemented it very well, and the fries were also awesome. Flat iron steak sandwich I loved the seasoning and how light pink yummy it was. I asked for the buns to be taken out, and a little extra greens instead, and ended up eating it kinda like a salad, but it was delicious. Flourless chocolate cake We ended up taking the desserts home because we were too full. The chocolate cake was right on the spot for me - not too heavy as some of these flourless cakes can become (more like mousse, which I'm not too keen on). Lemon ricotta cheesecake Light yet packing a punch. This was so good. Overall, a very very nice experience. I have overlooked The Edison thus far - I think i've been to all the other places around the block for this place for some reason. I'm glad we tried it this time. Will definitely be back!

Flourless chocolate cake was ok, but I had just had a better one at the Edison a day ago. Creme Broulee was right on though. Loved every bite. Overall, a classy restaurant that requires being well dressed (though I'm not sure that the dress code is enforced much) and professional service. Most of those spots only open for dinner, so I was thrilled to find that Bavette La Boucherie now serves lunch. My friend, a local, told me the restaurant originally began as a butcher shop. While that's no longer the case, the space still pays tribute to its roots -- shelves lined with kitchen knick-knacks, butcher-block counters, and a display of local provisions that hint at its past. Chef-owner Karen Bell leads the way here, and you can feel her touch throughout -- from the creative menu to the casual-elegant vibe. The décor blends exposed brick and warm wood with soft light and a friendly hum from the open kitchen. Our server, Matthew R., had only been with Bavette a couple of weeks, but his background in restaurant management showed. He was knowledgeable, attentive, and offered great suggestions. Before our sandwiches arrived, we shared a cup of pork and tomatillo pozole topped with cabbage slaw and a dollop of sour cream. It was piping hot, bright, and deeply flavorful -- the kind of starter that makes you stop talking for a minute just to enjoy the next spoonful. Having read rave reviews of the Korean steak au jus, I nearly ordered it, but Matthew suggested the roast-beef with cheddar since I'm not a big lunch eater. Excellent call. The sandwich was divine -- tender, flavorful beef layered with melted cheddar on a crisp, perfectly toasted roll. The beef-fat fries had great depth of flavor, though I'd love them even more if they were twice-cooked for that extra crunch. Being more of a gin or vodka drinker, I couldn't resist the Gin Old Fashioned on the cocktail list. It was delicious -- smooth, aromatic, and balanced enough that I happily ordered a second. Great food, warm service, and a welcoming atmosphere. Bavette La Boucherie is a gem I can't wait to revisit.
