I was looking for lunch in the area and instead of going with a nearby favorite of mine, I decided to give Crispy and Grill a try. I stopped in and placed a to go order of their six piece legs and thighs with breaded corn for the side. When I saw breaded corn was an option, the first thing my mind went to was breaded corn nuggets. Never once did I think "hey, maybe they mean literal pieces of corn on the cob that are breaded." Boy, that surprised me. The breading kind of fell off the corn as you started eating it, so it was mostly just corn on the cob that was a little mushy compared to corn that isn't fried. I wouldn't get this again. I feel like I got a good amount of chicken based on the price. There were three legs and three thighs in the container and they weren't necessarily small pieces. Unfortunately, neither the breading or the chicken itself were seasoned, so each piece was just plain chicken in plain breading. Not bad, but also something I wouldn't get again. read more

Some of the best seasoning for fried chicken and fish are off the chain! The serve potato wedges which are hot and amazing also! They have one of my favorite coleslaw that I will eat and just go buy on a wim is so good! The food is decent they are now open for breakfast and it's possible since the gas station they are attached to is open 24 hours they may be also! Staff is always friendly and helpful! I placed an order online on their not so user friendly website, ordered a 4 pc tender email and they added sauce on them without request. I had a super bowl party and the food was incomplete and cold. Manager named Moe answered my call and said I can bring food back and show where it clearly says 4 pc tender meal on my receipt NO SAUCE. I said I will bring it in when I can and hung up he chose to call me back and said I was disrespectful and then hung up on me. I tried to call back and he blocked my calls. They are unprofessional and do not care about their customers. I have ordered from them a lot before now will no longer purchase from them. They clearly don't know anything about running a professional business. read more

I'm from Chicago, and this place is about as close to Chicago-style chicken wings with the mild sauce & lemon pepper that you're going to find in Milwaukee. The only thing missing is the slice of white bread. They make everything fresh to order, so if you're in a rush, then call ahead of time or place an order online. My go-to is the 3 pc whole wing dinner with fries & a piece of catfish on the side. My kids split the appetizer plate with mozzarella sticks, poppers, & fried mushrooms, and everything was tasty, crisp, & fresh. The prices are super reasonable as well. The guy at the counter was great, and super helpful. The restaurant itself is nothing fancy, but what do you expect from a gas station chicken shack? It's clean, and they have bathrooms. The gas at the station was super cheap compared to Chicago prices, so we made sure to fill up before hitting the road. This is a spot I'm happy to stop at when I'm in the Milwaukee area. read more

What happened??? I get cheese steak extra meat extra cheese it usually is phenomenal absolutely bomb. I don't see usual cook. Now it's just a cheese steak like everywhere else in Wisconsin rubbery cheese greasy vegetables half cooked they are using different cheese no where near as creamy it's layed onto meat not mixed in. I was eating at least 3 a week on breaks. What happened change it back.the service is always top notch. The guy always trying to get me to skip tip makes me think he doesn't get it. The shop is utilitarian nothing special kind of small but clean. But for real change my cheese steak back or I gotta find somewhere else to go. Needed an easy comfort meal to take home and vegge out with on the couch, this seemed like the perfect time to check out crispy and grill. The first thing you should know is this spot is connected to a gas station. The second thing I realized that despite how divey the place seemed, their customer service was great with a very nice cashier. They accept tap and Apple Pay if you care about those things. It smells like straight up fryer grease in here. Also their dessert case looked surprisingly decadent and I will be back for some cheesecake. read more

I came home later than expected and was too tired to start dinner so I ended up googling Deliveries near me. The first place that popped up was Crisp and Grill. I never ate from here before nor have I even heard of this place. I ended up looking at the menu and everything is average price so I figured I would give it a try. Well let me tell you. Aside from the average affordable price. The delivery was estimated to be 45-70 minutes which to me was fine since of course I wanted them to cook my chicken fully. Anyway, the delivery was 15 minutes early!! Yay on that! I was expecting the food to be a bit soggy since it's fried and being delivered but it wasn't! All the good was scorching hot and super crispy! The potato wedges (4 pieces - which i thought was a bit small in quantity) were actually huge! I have been a customer for years and enjoy their food BUT when you order through Door Dash and order over $100 in food and they forget to give the Door Dasher items and you have to go pick up the items yourself or get the last of the Cod fish and it looks like it's been sitting there for hours and they say that it was made fresh but don't have any more??? They don't apologize or maybe offer you a discount on next order or something, instead give you attitude cause you gave them a thumbs down. If you order from them, check your food. They switched their barbecue sauce to something unpalatable and I have never been more disappointed. Still hot and fresh, just a waste of 40 bucks with this sauce flip as these have now entered garbage land. My favorite wings are now my least favorite wings unfortunately. I'm usually a regular at a well respected West Allis chicken joint. But living in greenfield just off 51st and Cold Spring, last night I asked myself, besides my usual what is the best fried chicken in town. To my surprise, my place wasn't #1, it was #2. Shocker. So I ordered a couple breast's, sons potato wedges, cold slaw, fried okra and a piece of chocolate cake. It was a hair under $28 fir pickup. Chicken and wedges had the same breading, really good and really crispy! Chicken itself was juicy and went great with the breading. Wedges were extra good with the crispy breading. The slaw was a creamy slaw and I Fuji's have had a couple of the little cups. The chocolate cake was very moist and very chocolate-y! My favorite was the fried okra! I have been looking at this place since they opened hoping for some customer photos of the food to build up but it has not. Me and my buddy at work talk about it to see who is going to be the first one to stop by and it was me. Fried chicken sounded good and I knew that this is a chicken place, no I'm not going to do wings here because there is other places for that. The place is in a gas station which doesn't necessarily rule it out because I have good food from them in the past. The place is clean and fresh looking with red and white walls, a huge mirror with a flat screen. It is eat in with some tables and chairs but on the small side. The menu has fast food standard fast food items so I was weary of the chicken but it's got 5 stars so far. The paper menu has coupon for a 4 pice dark with one side and a drink for $6.99 so I ordered that but I asked if the chicken is cooked to order, jack pot the wedges and chicken is cooked to order so plan on waiting 17 minuets. There is some good looking deserts in a cooler along with cookies by the way. You have a choice of seasonings to sprinkle on the the chicken but I opted for naked and various sauces were offered but I took one hot sauce. Wow I'm impressed with the chicken and wedges, the wedges were thick, hot with a soft center and a thin crispy/crunchy batter on the outside. The chicken was hot, moist with the same thin crispy/crunchy batter. This is how fried chicken should be served, hot/cooked to order fresh and not under some heat lamps waiting for me to walk in. My final thoughts is that if you want hot cooked to order fried chicken and not warm sitting around chicken than this is the place to go. read more

The potato wedges looks like they was injected with steroids but they was delicious. Overall this place was great and you should give it a try. We'd been looking for a friend chicken place for quite awhile, especially one that delivered. After trying several places around town and being disappointed, we finally tried here. It did not disappoint. We've been ordering from here for 6 months (about once a month) and every time has been excellent. The wait time given has been 45-90minutes, but it always comes around the 45min mark. Food is always hot when it gets to us. We usually order two of their big specials (25 piece dark meat (+fries & 2 liter) and the 20 tenders). They always send some delicious hot sauce, bbq, and ranch. We've also tried many of their appetizers and sides and all have been good (especially the cheese curds). Packaging is great and nothing gets soggy. The food reheats well also. Delivery people have always been especially kind. We will continue going here and I'd recommend to anyone. read more

Decided on chicken sandwiches and an order of cheese curds. The man who answered the phone was very thorough and polite when I called in my order. Told me 15-20 minutes and my food was ready right on time. The same guy was just as nice in person as he was on the phone. The chicken sandwiches were very large and worth the money. The chicken itself was very crispy as it says in the name of their operation. Unfortunately the vegetables were soggy and mushy, the onions were chopped in chunks. I suggest ordering the sandwich plain so that it stays crispy and isn't impacted by the not so fresh veggies. The curds could have used more crisp, they were soggy and didn't come with any dipping sauce. I will try again and see if I can increase their score, only because the guy I dealt with so nice and friendly. read more

I think this place is newer and my daughter and I are always up for trying new places...especially chicken places. This place is attached to a gas station. The restaurant part is very clean and has seating for about 20 in total. We had no problem finding a table. We ordered our food and the gentleman behind the counter was very nice and friendly. You order and pay at the counter and they will bring the food to you. Here's a quick review since I know you're hungry: The good: -Friendly staff/owner -Clean Restaurant area -Napkins at the table (in case you're sloppy like we are-perfect) -Fair/good prices The bad: -The restroom is shared with the gas station and it's marked "Mens" with "Womens" on a piece of paper taped to the door. It was dirty and disgusting and there were no paper to dry your hands -The food was just ok. The chicken breading had a weird kind of taste to it that I cannot recognize or figure out....I still can't place it. I'm certain its NOT a type of spice -The fried okra was cut too large for some pieces and smaller for others so some pieces weren't cooked enough and others were just right. I wouldn't order it again. - The wedges were ok. It had the same breading as the chicken with that weird taste...that's how I know it was the breading and not the chicken. The okra breading was fine and it was a different breading. -I'm not a fan of drinking out of soda cans at restaurants. I love fountain drinks. All in all.....we won't be back. read more

I came in with my young 19 year old daughter. asked to look at menu. so we proceeded to do so and we see that the things on the menu aren't what we want. we ask to substitUte the wedges for the fries, but the cashier wouldn't allow that. we asked if we could just not have the wedges and have the price deducted but he wouldn't allow that either we suggested that we give two sides for a regular fry's . he said we have that or don't order. rued cashier no customer service.
