Good was very very good. The portions were giant, enough for 2 meals. I got the Philly cheese steak with chicken and fries and it was about $11. It was really good. I didn't get fried chicken but it looked really good too. Even though there is a drive through it is not fast food. It's fresh and made to order so you might wait a few minutes on your order. OMG this place was everything and some. I'm in town for business and I really wanted some good fried chicken. Well I came across this place and decided I'd give it a try. The area is sketchy but I never once felt uncomfortable. My food was HOT HOT HOT and FRESH. After a 20 minute ride back to my hotel it was stilll hot! The chicken was so good. It was juicy and crispy fried to perfection! I'm not a fan of the fries. Also you only get two hot sauces :/ My 10 piece lasted me two days and I ate every piece. Honestly when me and my boyfriend stopped through for Summerfest late night after leaving and didn't want to waste money on food there that i didn't really want and I'm a huge fish and chips girl, THE CATFISH WAS GREAT! My much better half was happy when we passed this chicken and fish place on Capitol.... We were on our way to Church's ( still love them ). We turned around and turned into the scarce parking lot. There are no more than ten spaces available on the otherwise corner lot. The drive-thru is a single lane that also serves as the restaurant's exit. There is a second exit on 26th Street, which would be the "side" entrance and exit. Problematic I'm sure when business picks up on nights and weekend evenings. We went inside and found an employee cleaning the space below the counter where they kept the individual soda cans available for sale with "combo" meals. We decided to order when my "much better half" was satisfied she could eat from the kitchen where cleanliness passed with flying colors. She ordered the three piece fried jack salmon, I ordered the three piece catfish filet... about $21 for both meals. They were boxed in a styrofoam container, both meals had a rubber band securing the container and placed in a plastic bag. It was 15 to 20 minutes drive to home..... Here we go! We arrived home and got ready for dinner. We sat down for the "moment of truth". Most of these places' main entrées are reasonably warm but the fries are like warm or cooling.... Not Hook's.....fries were HOT... Catfish was POW!!! Excellent!!! Hot. The fish was still hot to the touch, you bit into the filet and had to stop because the steam from it almost burned you! Eventually, we got to eat. It was excellent. The food is right on. This is what all people ask for, you get it here at Hook's. Well done! The store would get five stars if it weren't for the mediocre location which could put place patron's security in doubt. There is no seating inside except to wait for your food. People generally are very respectful and nice. The place is well lighted. The solid reputation for the quality of food served is true and exact. Food is excellent. Their quality has to be the only reason this place is open. Please check them out. They are great. The place may not be great looking, But they are CLEAN.... the SERVICE is EXCELLENT.... and the food is DELICIOUS!!! I am a very picky person, I was pleasantly surprised! ......you will be also. Terrible customer service. I waited at their order window for 30 mins thinking after the line died down they would take my order. Only to drive up and be yelled at and disrespected by the cashier telling me they were closed. I was in line long before close. This was my first visit and what a terrible impression. read more

Been living in the neighborhood for years, never wanted to go to hooks but I finally tried it and it was very good, but everytime I go back it was something wrong, for some reason they think everyone like lemon pepper, I DON'T and I told them that, but yet it was on my food, another time I order a lemonade, and they forgot to give it to me, ok I understood, because I drove off without it as well, No big deal, but I was there the other day, all hell broke loose, I guess the other customers was mad because their food took to long, and when I finally got up to the counter I was over charged by $5 he said he put it back on my card, but I'm still waiting, I called my bank and nothing was there, I got my food and the chicken looked like it was fried over, lt was like they cooked it earlier and then refried so it can be hot when I got it, yes I know when I see old wings and not to say, when they put the bread under the hot food it make the bread hard, the bread should go on top of the food so when you get it home , it don't be hard and finally they need to do something about the drive through, I told them how they should do it but they didn't seem to care, but my suggestion was better then how they are doing it now, I think if you are going to order at the window, then do so and tell them to drive back around for pick up, So the people who order ahead can pull up to the window get their food and go, but the way they have it, you can order at the window and Sit there until their food is ready, not fair for the people who called ahead, why should we have to wait 20 min per car SMH, Not a nice neighborhood, I don't want to get out of my car over there, so I hope they do better with the drive through, and the inside there's always room for improvement, the inside lobby was pack with people, and I was afraid to be in there because of the Coronavirus, only 2 people had on a mask as I was waiting, and it was about 13 ppl there in that small area, will I go back NO not after that recooked chicken, and the waiting in the drive through line I'm done. read more
