Cinnamon roll
Kristen L.

I came by here early on the weekend to pick up a cinnamon roll to go. When I got in, they were already packaging up the cinnamon rolls in to go boxes and bags, so I think a lot of people must just come for that. The roll is huge--the picture doesn't do it justice. Definitely big enough to share! The roll was pretty good. They do charge .25 for the takeout box, and another .25 for a takeout bag. I didn't ask for a bag, and would've skipped getting one had I known there would be a fee. So bring your own bag, or just make it clear that you don't need one.

Tucked inside a cozy converted house in Crown Hill, Wild Mountain Café feels like brunch at your grandmothers house. With limited seating and a warm, lived-in vibe, this spot turns comfort food into a full-on experience. The iced latte went down smoothly and too fast. It was their daily special for five dollars with iced coffee, amaretto & Irish cream. Then came the parade of plates: eggs Benedict in two style, classic with bacon, avocado and tomato, and a smoky salmon lox. Both were blanketed in silky hollandaise and paired with crispy potato cakes that could hold their own in a snack showdown. Scrambled eggs with spinach and mushrooms brought a healthy balance, gluten and dairy free, while the fruit bowls added a splash of color and freshness. The burrito was smothered in enchilada sauce, flanked by refried beans, salsa, and sour cream. It was bold, messy, and completely worth it. The cinnamon rolls. Massive, gooey, and crowned with cream cheese frosting, displayed right when you walk in. If you go early you can get some good deals on drinks and go hungry, and don't skip the cinnamon roll. Also I saw a near by table order the breakfast casserole and the Mac and cheese. it was huge and creamy. I wanted to order the Mac and cheese but didn't want to roll out of there with all those carbs but I was a little jealous. The service was amazing too!

Northwest Lox Benedict -- asked for my béarnaise sauce on the side.

Eggs Benedict with Lox remains my favorite but there's hardly an egg dish there that I have not found delicious and worth eating. Service is attentive and coffee refilled in timely manner and the warmed cinnamon bun might be to die for. Cost home interior with tables and chairs that feel like a comfortable dining room. But be prepared for the wait on weekends.

Coming from the Eastside looking for great breakfast haunts across the bridge. Picked Wild Mountain from some recommendations from a Seattle foodie group. I'd give the ambiance an A, and the food a solid B/B+. Cute venue in an older style home, with some obvious pride in their offerings. I don't think there is anything unique about their menu, but a great variety of standards, and what they do, they do very well. Their cinnamon rolls are phenomenal! Hot, with a well balanced icing and a good fresh yeast and spice. 10/10. The eggs Benedict, I would say, was very consistent. Perfectly poached eggs and scratch-made Hollandaise. But thin Canadian bacon, on a Bays muffin, and the Hollandaise had no lemon (personal preference). Fruit cup was great, but the potato cake was not at all creamy and was loaded with garlic. I would go again if I was in the area, but wouldn't cross the bridge for it. Like I say - a very solid breakfast joint. Service was exceptional, and very attentive.

Really lovely servers! They also are responsive to messages and responded right away to let me know that dogs are allowed in the patio. We sat there at their little table, and it was partially shaded and fully covered. They have a cute little dog bowl as well. The food was good and they have a decent sized breakfast menu. Plenty of vegetarian options and a handful of vegan and GF options.

Heavy, stick to your bones brunch fare in a Homey, family oriented interior. Gluten-Free eggs benedict ($17.25) - I got these because they were served on the garlic potato cakes - omg, these are like crack. If they don't come with your entree, get one on the side. Eggs perfectly poached with a rich, buttery hollandaise. I don't like Canadian Bacon so that was okay. The homemade cinnamon roll was phenomenal ($6.75). Get it. Warm, fluffy dough with delicious cinammon flavor and gooey cream cheese icing. BF got the La Cabana ($16.75), I tried a bite and it was okay. Warm, inviting staff. If you come for brunch on a weekend you will likely have to wait.

TLDR: the carb options were the best part of this meal, egg dishes not as memorable. Potato cakes and cinnamon roll were particularly excellent! The potato cakes are basically flat topped garlicky mashed potatoes, and the cinnamon roll was soft and served warm. I also loved how they had house made strawberry jam for your toast option! Each had a unique twist to it and we were very happy about what we ordered! For egg dishes we tried the kitchen sink scramble which was nothing special, as well as the cabana. It's basically a Mexican breakfast casserole. There were 4 parties ahead of us on a Sunday at noon, but the tables turned over relatively quickly.

This cute brunch spot is all about the comfy cozy vibes. It's a historic mountain house-turned-cafe, so dining here was a super unique experience. My friend and I dropped by during the long weekend so there was a decent wait (~30 min). We ordered the Veggie Bennie and the Pimento grilled cheese (from the seasonal specials menu). The grilled cheese was great, but the Eggs Benedict wasn't particularly memorable and was a little bland for my liking. The garlic mashed potato cake that it comes with, however, was flavorful and creamy!

Cure All Mac N Chz

My friends took me here while I was visiting Seattle and I enjoyed it quite a bit. They were busy but we got a table immediately, and the wait wasn't long at all. Our server was super friendly and personable and always made sure our waters were topped off. The food was fantastic! I got the Cure All Mac and Chz with bacon and mushrooms and it was so so good. It was also a huge portion so I had lunch for the next day, which was great for me since I was travelling that day and didn't have time to go out for food. I also got one of the baked treats that was a special that day, and it was also delicious. The overall vibe of the restaurant was cozy and comfy. It felt like a cage that you would go to in the mountains, it felt very much like a cabin in the woods that has the best food you've ever had. I will definitely be going back.

This place is adorable. A converted craftsman home into a breakfast spot. There is two set of stairs to get to this place with a small table for outdoor dining. All parties need to be present to be seated. It gets crowded but you are able to get seated fairly fast. We sat at a two top in the bar and enjoyed the Piggy Patty Pile French toast and Greta Garbo with two seasonal alcoholic beverages. Greta Garbo is their gluten free Benedict and so delicious I didn't leave anything on the plate. Service was attentive and kind. Would for sure come back to check out their other menu items. Tips: would be great for earlier before the crush but they move tables quickly. Stairs would be an issue for accessibility folks and they have street parking :)

Breakfast burrito
Huong L.

We were hungry and wanted something quick to eat and so we decided on this place...well we definitely did not get our quickness as our food took really long time. We ordered take out and got the southern breakfast burrito. The burrito was fine, it came with a lot of eggs and some chicken sausage and cheese and chiles. It also come with a side of refried beans, sour cream and salsa. The burrito and bean was definitely on the bland side as well. It definitely needed salt. I had to use all the salsa to get some flavor in it. However, for it being around $16, I kinda expected more because it was a very simple burrito with pretty standard tasting.

They have a tiny parking lot in the back, otherwise, street parking is an option. The food was absolutely delicious, DELICIOUS. Packed with flavor, it came out fresh, hot, and quick. Like super quick. Think we waited maybe 5 minutes tops. You really come here for the meal because wow. The meat slid off the bone, the gumbo was perfectly seasoned, and the dessert was yum, yum. The service was also super excellent. Our server was on it. He was lightning quick and perceptive, letting you know where to get spoons or offering things you hadn't even thought of. We were impressed. Maybe this is why they were packed the weekday night we went. Even when one rush left, another one took its place only a few minutes later. They have live jazz, blues, and other types of shows here, so we'll try to catch one next time. My only critique was the lights. They use bright white hospital lights that are a little blinding, and I kind of wish they had more ambient lighting, but that's just a me thing.

Mixed Results, Some Very Good, Some Disappointing…read more Saw a food vlogger's video on YouTube mention S/T Hooligans, and he raved about the fried chicken & gumbo, so I popped in for lunch. Here's what I ordered and how I'd rate each item on a scale of 1 - 10, with 10 being best: Southern Combo Plate, included gumbo, cole slaw, hush puppies, and fried chicken. Individual ratings below. Gumbo (10): As good as any gumbo I had in New Orleans. Stellar! Its dark roux, rich flavorful stock, and sizable chunks of meat made it a home run. Highly recommend! Cole Slaw (8): Creamy and satisfying, but not overly flavorful. Hush Puppies (4): These Italian Meatball-sized hush puppies had a great texture to them, but for some reason were drizzled with an orange zest glaze that took their flavor profile in the wrong direction. I recommend asking for that glaze on the side. Fried Chicken (6): Hot & juicy with a great crunch, thanks to the most interesting fried chicken batter I've had in Seattle. However, not super flavorful on its own. Surprising they don't offer cajun seasoning, or other seasoning choices. Worse, because they put so much orange zest glaze on the hush puppies, the glaze run-off pooled up on the plate & drifted into the fried chicken, altering its flavor in an undesirable way. Bread Pudding (5): Underwhelming. Had a slightly burnt flavor with an overhang of tanginess that prevented the pumpkin flavor from coming through. Looked beautiful, but was disappointing tastewise. Service was exceptional, with the guy behind the bar being very attentive and friendly. That alone bumped up my score from 3 stars to 4.

Happy hour is daily 4-6pm but all day Monday, bar seating area only. Plenty of seating, plenty of parking in an unpaved lot, or accessible by the 5 bus. The menu uses a lot of strong ingredients that sound like it would turn away picky eaters - blue cheese, anchovies, balsamic, pickles, etc, and I frankly don't like blue cheese, but all the ingredients they use, they do it well. Just order and don't think too much about the specific ingredients, or be open-minded! I got the Butcher Burger which is soooo flavorful - I love the caramelized onions and how juicy the patty is. I also got the Fistful of Dollars cocktail which was also $12 - gin, basil, Chareau aloe, lime. This was so smooth to drink and looks elegant. Service is great - the bartender checked up on me a few times and proactively refilled my water, making sure my water is almost always full. If you want to make a visit for the burger, definitely recommend going on the earlier side because it is limited quantity. Even though it is 1 per guest per visit, still go early. I was there and of the 5 parties that got seated, I think almost everyone each got the burger, so definitely a hot item!!!

Outstanding Happy Hour & Incredible Vibe! It's been a while…read moresince I had such an amazing Happy Hour experience! We booked a table in advance to catch an early bite, but the Happy Hour menu looked so good that we decided to sit at the bar instead. We ordered the Tuna Tartare, Clams, Pork Ribs, Grilled Eggplant, and Fennel Pickles from the Happy Hour menu, plus the Roasted Olives with extra Sourdough Bread from the main menu. Honestly, every single dish was delicious. The absolute highlights for me were the olives, tuna, pickles, and the sourdough! Here's a quick breakdown of what we had: Sourdough & Herb Butter: Absolute perfection. Crisp on the outside, chewy and moist on the inside. The herb butter was heavenly! Roasted Olives: The ultimate cocktail pairing. Tuna Tartare: The addition of cucumber made it taste so fresh and vibrant. Fennel Pickles: So addicting--I'm still thinking about them! Pork Ribs: Loved the Gochujang (Korean chili paste) sauce, which felt familiar and comforting. The flavor was great, though it had a slight pork aroma that might appeal more to those who enjoy a richer meat flavor. The cocktails were fantastic across the board. Now I completely understand why this place was constantly packed--unbeatable prices, top-tier food quality, and excellent service. Finding great food always sets the mood for a perfect day, and this place definitely made my day!

I've been behind a bar for more than 30 years…read more Long enough to know the difference between service and hospitality. Service is getting the drink right. Hospitality is making somebody feel seen. Dark Room made me feel seen. There was something about this place that hit me almost immediately. Maybe it was the room. Maybe it was the weirdness. Maybe it was the absolute lack of anything cookie-cutter. Maybe it was the way the staff cared without performing the fact that they cared. If you've spent any real time in Seattle bars, you know being the first-timer can sometimes feel a little rough. You walk in and have to earn your way into the rhythm of the place. Not here. Dark Room had that old-school hospitality I built a career around. The kind where somebody notices you. Reads the room. Knows when to talk, when to leave you alone, when to make a recommendation, when to surprise you. The drinks were strange and thoughtful and beautifully made. The food had personality. The room had soul. And then Ewan put a $12.87 "industry credit" on our bill. Twelve dollars and eighty-seven cents. It wasn't the amount. It was the gesture. A little nod across the bar world. A tiny act of recognition from one hospitality person to another. After 30 years in this business, I can tell you that those things matter. A lot. Because the best bars don't just serve drinks. They create a temporary world -- one with its own language, rituals, surprises, and small acts of grace. They remind you that hospitality is not about being impressed. It is about being welcomed. It is about leaving a place feeling a little more connected than when you walked in. That is what Dark Room gave me. It reminded me why I stayed in this business for so long: for the ritual, the intimacy, the creativity, the care, and the beautiful weirdness of making strangers feel at home for a few hours. The ultimate. The unique. The weird. That's the stuff. And Dark Room absolutely gets it.i
