Florentia omelette & a cinnamon roll. That's my ideal here. The Florentia has a metric crapton of bacon to go with the spinach and egg, leaving no room for it to be anything less than excellent, while the cinnamon roll is sugary and wonderful, just as a cinnamon roll should be. They run out, so you'll want to show up early, but it's so worth it. The staff has always been really nice and the coziness of the place can't be beat. I only wish it were closer to my apartment, but you can't win them all. read more

The vegetables did not taste seasoned, they were wet and soggy, and there was hardly any hollandaise sauce. It was also obvious that the fruit in my fruit cup was the last of the fruit in the restaurant. I've never even considered asking for a refund at a restaurant. But I regret not asking. This is an interesting little spot, it's an old house converted into a restaurant with mismatched tables, chairs and coffee mugs. The front of the house has a fireplace that would be a great area to be seated in. It has charm for sure but it is also on the small side and feels a little crowded. The menu had plenty of options for breakfast, even a build your own breakfast that seemed pretty appealing. Sometimes you want the French toast, the potatoes, the meat and all of that, you know? Settled on the Kitchen Sink scramble with toast, garlic potato cakes and a side of bacon ordered crisp. Breakfast arrived and it was a little bland. The scramble would have benefitted from some salt and pepper. The menu said the scramble included bacon, ham, pork sausage, grilled zucchini, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms and cheddar cheese. Mine was missing cheese and I had one piece of zucchini and mushroom. It was average but ingredient wise, lacking. The real disappointment was the garlic potato cakes. I expected something with more crunch, instead I got garlic mashed potatoes formed into a cake and browned. Maybe take the mashed potatoes, brown them in a pan to add some crispness then mold them into a cake and brown again? That's what I would have done. Definitely expected more than what I got. The service was somewhat attentive, I would have appreciated some water and coffee refills. The portions are good, definitely left feeling full. Considering the close quarters in each area and the average fare, there are better breakfast options in the area. read more

Stopped in for a great Sunday morning breakfast. Great atmosphere, feels like you're over at someone's house for a family meal. Different coffee mugs and an assortment of unique tables and chairs. There were people waiting, as it was a busy Sunday morning, but they were multiple larger groups and the hostess was able to seat the two of us immediately. *The lowdown on the garlic potato pancakes* My goal was to try the much discussed garlic potato pancake. I have been looking for some great German potato pancakes with very little success. Be advised, these ARE NOT German potato pancakes. In all the reviews and photos I looked through nobody properly described the pancakes. These things are mashed potato consistency and then fried up like a pancake on both sides. Don't get me wrong, they are delicious (extremely garlicky) and worth trying. But if anybody wants to know what they are like they are mushy like mashed potatoes. Potato pancakes aside the food was delicious. Thick salty bacon and eggs prepared eggsactly as ordered. Server was very friendly but we were tucked in a back corner so we really only saw her once or twice aside from when our food was delivered. I made sure to grab a cinnamon roll to go as I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it with my meal. The hunt for the best cinnamon roll continues but these gigantic beauties are definitely worth making your visit on Saturday or Sunday so you can partake in the oohy goohy goodness. read more

We brought our friends here for an early morning weekday breakfast and enjoyed arguably the best NW Eggs Benedict in town: eggs were poached just right and the Hollandaise sauce was tasty and fresh. Go for the cinnamon roll without the extra frosting--so good. One thing I noted, because the restaurant is located in an old house, it's not very accessible with a lot of steps to get to the dining room--so if that's an issue you may want to go for delivery. Met some friends here for breakfast and had a great time. The place is a house turned into a restaurant/bar, so cool. If I lived in this neighborhood I would be stopping here for happy hour and meals all the time! All 4 of us thought our breakfast was great and we inhaled it. I got the surefire omlette with green chilies, friend got the breakfast burrito and I don't remember what everyone else got but it was all delicious. Especially the garlic tater cakes, to die for. My only complaint would be they don't have any fancy coffee/tea, just your basics. Love the cozy atmosphere, and the fact they have a bar. I will definitely be back again. read more

This has been one of my favorite neighborhood restaurants for years. They have great breakfast and brunch options, and I can always find several options that can be made vegan and gluten-free. The cinnamon rolls are served only on weekends and are amazing. They aren't gluten-free, but I can make an exception once in awhile if it's really worth it, and it is for these tasty treats. Staff is always friendly, and they're doing amazing things right now during this pandemic trying to keep essential workers fed while not losing their own business. Definitely go support this place- they do curbside pickup, no contact delivery and someday we'll all be able to enjoy the super cute ambience inside again. read more

Walked into the cafe with a friend, was seated in a timely manner. Interesting to me was our server didn't say, hello, welcome or anything except, table for two? We sat there about 20 minutes and never once did our server come over to us and say, I will be right with you. Finally she dropped off two glasses of water for us. The place didn't look extremely busy but people were eating or waiting for their checks to pay. Mind you she was not in a hurry at all. She walked around in one speed, slow. Finally we got our menus and waited some more. We ordered our meals and waited for our food. I ordered a chicken pesto Sammie but felt like I was chewing shoe leather not chicken. If I had false teeth there would have been a situation.The cook didn't look like he was in any hurry either. What a disappointment. This was on September 27, 2022 came in at 11:45 am left at 1:00 pm. Strong meh on the food, perfectly good service. We arrived on a rainy Saturday a little after noon, and were seated immediately. My partner got the famed Eggs Benedict with garlic potato cake, and I got the Persian Sun french toast. For one, the garlic potato cake is nothing more than garlic mashed potatoes -- there is no crispness to speak of. Combined with a Hollandaise sauce that had no flavor but butter (i.e. falling short in the acidic brightness that lemon juice is supposed to bring) and English muffins that might not have been toasted, the dish lacked variety in texture and flavor. The fruit cup, however, is A+. The Persian Sun is intriguing -- french toast with cardamom-spiced tahini. Was this a Nordic adaptation, to add cardamom? I love cardamom, and choosing to be cautious, asked for the lemon honey syrup on the side. Boy was I glad! I got 8oz of hot pineapple in syrup (mostly sugar, no perceptible lemon) with my french toast. The tahini was delightful, but had no detectable cardamom. I dipped a forkful into the syrup to see if the syrup would amplify the spice: no dice. I think this is a good place to take someone who likes kitsch and coziness and doesn't care as much about what's on their plate. read more

Truly delightful "discovery". I've pedaled and driven past it many times and never noticed it until I looked up places for breakfast in Greenwoodshire. Good thing we got there early because we only had to wait about 10 minutes (8:30 a.m. on a Sunday). When we left (and it was pouring rain) the porch was packed with people waiting to get in. Everything that everyone had was tasty and well-made. Clearly popular with families because there were many children of all ages. This place is no frills, but has a very extensive menu for meat eaters and vegans alike. I love the vegetarian tower of power with the garlic cakes and toast! Do note the jam for the toast isn't all that flavorful if you're a jam snob like myself. My mom got the eggs benedict and enjoyed it. The staff is always friendly, and the coffee is always flowing. We have tried at least 1/2 dozen of their breakfast offerings and have never been disappointed. Reasonable prices, good food, attentive service. Only disappointment is their coffee. I love coming here before work! I work at Bartells in the neighborhood, so it's close and convenient. The food is delicious, love their eggs Benny and scrambles. The atmosphere is cute and charming. Big shout out to a lovely lady named Andrea. She is amazing, fast efficient, and super sweet. Every time I have been here, she has been my server, and I have always a very pleasant dining experience. A friend took us here this because it's her favorite brunch place, and she was mortified by our experience. The wait staff was uncommunicative and inattentive. When our friend arrived, she was told we'd be seated once the rest of the party (us) arrived. Once we got there, the hostess informed us that she didn't actually have a table and it would be another few minutes. That's a minor miscommunication, but it would have been nice to have a guesstimate of how long we'd be waiting from the beginning. Once we were seated, we had to flag the waitress down several times - first for milk for our toddlers; then for coffee for us (because she didn't stick around long enough when we were ordering milk to hear the "and coffee for the adults" part); and finally to order our food. The food itself was incredibly disappointing. I ordered the Persian Sun, which was supposed to be French toast stuffed with Tahini, and topped with pineapple and ham. In reality, it was two small pieces of French toast with a small amount of Tahini spread between them, topped with pineapple that looked like it had some straight out of a can, and ham on the side bathing in what was probably the juice from the pineapple can. I am a FRENCH TOAST FANATIC (seriously - ask my mom), but I left more than half the food on my plate. I was not into it. (Also, lololol at "Persian" French toast being served with ham. Like, what?) But our server wouldn't know that. She never checked in to see how we were doing. We had to flag her down several more times for refills on coffee and milk for the kids, and she delivered the check to us about five minutes after bringing our food - as if they expected us to pay, finish eating, and move along so they could have the table for other guests. It's unlikely we'll ever go back, but I'll give it two stars for being located in an adorable craftsman home. read more

Came here for Lunch on a Saturday so it was quite busy. However, the wait and estimate was accurate and we were promptly seated. The place has a local vibe and friendly staff served us coffee and foods. I ordered the standard eggs benedict but damn- it was loaded. Two bennies with enough hollandaise to drown it all. On top of this, you get a nice cup of fruit with every fruit imaginable and the thing everybody here loves: The garlic potato cake. It's simple, fluffy, garlicy. Just rad. Bottomless coffee, heavy food, friendly waitress, all of it inside of an old house. It is of my opinion that this is how every American diner should be. read more

I'm not going to lie; I was a little skeptical going into this converted house style restaurant... But to my surprise it was actually really great! They have a spacious outside deck where you wait for your table and enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee. This was a great way to ease my skepticism. Once we were seated in what seamed like the dining room, we ordered Bloody Marys right away (see photo). They had the perfect amount of spice while still being pretty boozy. I ordered the Parisian Sunrise and my boyfriend ordered their famous Eggs Benedict (see photo). We both really enjoyed our entrees and we're glad we chose what we did because the menu options are really extensive! Overall, this is a unique experience if your looking for a quaint brunch place in Crown Hill. Went here for the first time yesterday, and I must say... mission accomplished! It's one of those new places that's built inside of a house, so you feel like you're in someones living room... but personally I get off on breaking into strangers houses and eating on their coffee tables, so for me... this is bliss! Beyond the creature comfort of being within walking distance to my new place, the portions are HUGE! For breakfast, Wild Mountain is SOLID! I went for the traditional breakfast, and it came with five pieces of bacon! The menu said four, but I'm still fantasizing that the waitress, was either flirting with me or... far more likely... trying to kill me. Either way, I got her attention, and when you've been single as long as I have, you take what you can get! (Hi waitress!) The macaroni and cheese had tendrils of cheese that stretched across the table! That is not an exaggeration! You can get a good four feet of stretch room on this stuff! Gooey, gooey bliss! read more

The only thing that really pops out as you drive by is a small purplish sign with a crane-like profile figure on it, labeled "Wild Mountain Cafe." Otherwise, you will pass it by at least once whilst finding it as WMC noob. The eclectic interior is decked in mismatched tables and chairs. It lends a vintage coolness without pretense, so it's not hard to find yourself feeling right at home. Cinnamon bun: The thought of it makes me salivate. Fresh, homemade love groped my taste buds, thereby induced mouthgasms with every fork-full of warm gooey pastry. "Please, sir, I want some more" Grilled garlic mash p'tato patties: I love. Florentia: Bacon, spinach, mushrooms and Swiss cheese. Nice. Coffee: good. However, you must have the cinnamon bun first. That way, if you still have room, you can scarf off another before leaving. read more

Most recently I had the lox and cream cheese scramble with potato cakes. The scramble was well done and tasty. I love their potato cakes. They give you homemade jam for your toast or English muffin. Service is pretty slow but friendly which I remember from prior visits. I waited for quite sometime for a coffee refill and my food took almost a half hour to arrive which is a long time for a breakfast order. However, they offer great food and prices are reasonable. $10 range for most of their breakfast items. Accessibility isn't good for anyone who can't do stairs. read more
