This woman literally kicked me out of her office for asking very nicely for her to turn off the television... as flashing imagery can cause seizures for me. I asked nicely 5 times and tried to explain why, but she kept cutting me off and saying, "Just don't worry about it." If I could simply not worry about it without making myself sick, I wouldn't have asked. I then said, "Please, can you just turn it off before we begin so I can open my eyes?" And she preceeded to kick me out, saying that "alright it's not the vibe, just go to massage envy,' and 'this is not the dynamic of Sanar massage." Okay? Then why are you making it the vibe?? She literally said, "I'm a healer! I don't play these games!" Girl... if you were a healer, then WHY would you subject someone to something that would make them physically ill when it's simple enough to just turn the massive television taking up the entire room OFF? She wouldn't let me finish a thought. Wouldn't let me explain why I was asking for this simple accommodation. My partner tried to interject and explain that I do infact need this in order to avoid a dangerous neurological response. She wouldn't let him speak either. I begged her to just please just hear me out , and then she threatened to call the cops... I am taken aback. I have no idea how this woman stays in business when she treats her kind, genuine, well-paying clients like absolute garbage. To Serena: I have to protect myself constantly from triggers in the outside world... I came in fully loaded with sunglasses (at night), ear plugs, a brimmed hat to help block out unwanted visual input, and a face covering because I'm immunocompromised. I did everything I could to protect myself and make my needs clear. It's your job to LEARN about your clientele so that you can best treat their underlying conditions causing pain in the body. If you won't listen to this one sentence, how am I expected to effectively explain my other ailments that may determine the treatment I can endure? I hope this message helps you learn the invaluable lesson of being open and loving to those with different needs than your own, and perhaps open your mind up to the idea that not everyone's perception of the world is identical. If you were a true "healer," then you wouldn't let your ego get in the way of providing care to those who need it most.

I had the pleasure of experiencing a full-body massage from Sadiqua…read more I rely on bodywork to release emotional storages in my body. It's more than a relaxation sanctuary for me (although that's important to have, and a place that I appreciate)--it's a site for deep healing of the unprocessed, unresolved, and unmet. I trust few massage therapists to support me in this way, and occasionally, I find people like Sadiqua, with whom I can fully relax, and surrender, in her care. I think that Sadiqua's massage therapy works so well for me because her presence and practice merges three aspects: hands that are so naturally poised for bodywork that you can, by extension, feel her joy and warmth as she works, anatomical knowledge that helps her so easily laser in on misalignment or tension, and therefore, informs her helpful post-session advice, and an emotional intelligence that allows her to have a conversation with your body's physicality, as well as its emotional, and energetic sides, which for me, complete the picture of where I am and what I need in the future. Her hands, knowledge, and insight combines for a deeply-restorative experience, on many levels. I'm looking forward to more massage therapy with Sadiqua. I'm excited to combine therapeutic oils, sound therapy, and other elements that I've wanted to incorporate into a holistic bodywork routine, but haven't found a practitioner with the level of experience or skill. If you're looking for healing massage therapy, with a wholehearted and strong spirit, I couldn't recommend What You Knead any more enthusiastically.

Please read before booking: dangerous massage/terrible customer service…read more I resisted writing a review because I wanted to give the business a chance to make things right, but the owner emailed me saying I must have given them my wrong email in their contact form, despite emailing me directly...tell me how that makes sense? He claimed he responded, and told me to "log into Contact Us" to find his response which again, was really weird and almost felt like he was messing with me. I explained to him that website contact forms don't work that way, and after a few unproductive back and forths - there is yet to be a solution. Now about the experience: While the therapist was kind and welcoming, there were several concerning issues: Un-safe massage + language barrier: Despite repeatedly telling the therapist she was hurting me and asking her to go lighter, she did not adjust. At one point, she used a translation device on her phone, but even after that, the pressure remained too intense. She mostly used her elbows and forearms directly on my spine and scapula, which was extremely painful and did not feel safe. There was also a point where she rubbed her forearm across my neck horizontally, which was not only dangerous but was not relaxing in the slightest. Stretching Concerns: I am hypermobile (very flexible), 112lbs, and without asking permission, the therapist sat on my back (guessing she is somewhere in the range of 160+), had me hold her wrists, and pulled me far past a comfortable range. I was in pain and had no way to make her to stop, given that she had my arms pulled back...and strained my back in the process.l Equipment and Comfort: The plastic face pillow did not fit properly, forcing my neck into an awkward angle throughout the session. Either my chin jutted out while my eyes were squished, or my mouth and nose were squished but my eyes were ok. lol Both options put my head at a weird angle and the pillow was really firm. It honestly looked like a toddler toilet seat cover and was such a weird shape. The sanitary cover used was nothing more than a rough paper towel that kept slipping, causing my face to rest directly on the uncomfortable plastic surface. Payment Process: At checkout, I tried to show the therapist a website promotion for $10 off this month from the company's website, but she did not understand. She kept asking about the tip, then FaceTimed (presumably) the owner, and did not know how to operate the credit card machine. Like at all. I ended up assisting her with the transaction, navigating the device for her, and had to show her where to find completed transactions. I could see how this situation might make other clients feel pressured or uncomfortable. I was mind boggled that she had no idea how to run a payment. I left the massage in significant pain and had significant visual bruising on my back and pain in my lower spine that has been going on for 4 days. I ended up at urgent care where the Dr was able to confirm that my back was strained by the massage. This review is not exaggerated or inflammatory, it's literally what happened. In my inital email, I expressed my concerns about safety and pain and asked for a refund...yet no solution has been presented from the business's side. I will update if that changes.
