At the beginning of this year, I signed up for a vision manifestation workshop put on by Yarah…read moreSutra (yes that is her real name!), a healer, priestess, and expert facilitator, based in Seattle, WA. It was a transformative, multi-sensory, and emotional experience that transitioned me, the participant, through a multitude of experiences and activities, from meditation, to work sheeting, to soul cleansing dance, and finally to the creation of a vision board as a physical artifact to represent the experience and the future manifestation of my desires. Over the past 11 years, as I have dove further into researching the power of the subconscious mind (psychology) and how our brain influences motivation and emotional control (neuroscience), I have quickly realized that more people in the world would benefit from this sort of experience where personal strategic planning meets psychological transformation. Many people want to better connect with their desires, achieve more happiness and success, and gain more self awareness, and I believe this type of workshop is a great way to kick off a change in your life. In particular, women tend to display particular self limiting beliefs (stemming from our patriarchal culture) that can result in us holding back from truly chasing our desires and dreams. What's really cool about Yarah's methods are the strong connection to human cultural traditions that have been in place for thousands of years: dance, drums, and meditation. She takes these elements and adds in process driven writing and visioning to add the right amount of structure and organization to complete the workshop experience. As someone who also works with people to build an immersive visioning workshop, I know the importance of compelling imagery and a moving experience to stir deep motivation and clarity not only within the rational brain, but also within the emotional brain. I have a couple of pictures from the event here, as well as my vision board itself. Every time I see this beautiful work of art, created by yours truly, it reignites a sense of clarity and intention around what I want to achieve this year. I can't recommend Yarah highly enough as a facilitator and guide for this type of experience. After I visited her, I can honestly say that I'd be willing to pay full price for the massage that she gives - and anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a huge cheapskate and don't say these things lightly. Yes, the parking is annoying (take the bus, people, it's the U. District, there's no parking anywhere) and she can be hard to get hold of now that she''s sold so many deals and is often booked far in advance (but it seems she's now got an assistant to make her bookings so it's much easier to do). However, these minor annoyances aside, the massage itself is five-star solid! Aine gives a true full-body massage that's the perfect balance between relaxing and therapeutic, and makes sure to really work out your kinks and sore spots. She's warm and kind and it's clear that she truly cares about her customers. The space is nicely decorated and dim, soft music playing, the temperature just right, and the whole office is nice and quiet so your massage isn't disturbed by outside noises. I hope that Aine gets the boost in sales that she deserves from the daily deals, but at the same time I don't want her to get too popular because I want to keep her all to myself!

It basically was a $29 deal for 1.5 hours which was too good to be true. I left her a fat tip because her services were way too awesome for the Tippr deal. I hope more people hear about her because she really is super nice and really cares about fixing the kinks and knots in your body. She teaches you different stretches and ways to remove tension too, that was super helpful. She spent a lot of time working on my glutes too which was new to me because I never realized how sore they were until she was rubbing on them. I asked for a deep tissue but I guess I wasn't really able to handle the "deepness" so it was more of a Swedish massage. But she even used hot stones towards the end on my calves and thighs, that was a nice touch too! Parking isn't too bad for the building, just drive up a little and street parking is everywhere.

She creates a peaceful space where I can connect with myself amidst the craziness of life. No matter how I enter, I always leave feeling refreshed and taken care of. Here's what's next: 1. Through a few sessions, she was able to help relieve the tightness and soreness in my lower back and shoulders that had accumulated through years of weightlifting. I work with families and children intimately and I understand cancellations happen, and people become sick, but to cancel an AM appointment with under two hours notice without a call was not a great way to handle the situation. I was already getting ready and on my way to the appointment. Upon arriving I sat there thinking she was possibly late, then I called the number on the door because I figured that was the best option to figure out if the appointment still stood or not which. Then after back and forth email with Danielle she was upset that I had called the number on the door because it was for someone else. How was a client to know that? I waited for 40 minutes and left. When I arrived home I had seen on my desktop the reason I didn't get her email was because It was sent from her personal email instead of her business email which was the one email we had ever used prior. We sent some Emails back and fourth and because I had expressed how inconvenient it was for me she decided she didn't want to see me for my other appointment or reschedule. I had told her many times I understand these things happen and hope she will feel better and was kind, I just wanted her to know that a call for a two hour or less cancellation would be more ideal since clients are likely to be up and already getting ready to leave their homes. She then basically replies she doesn't want to see me as a client anymore while also being smart saying "in the age of smartphones" her email with 1.5 hours notice was appropriate. Especially when people are likely already on their way. Since I had bought 2 massages via Groupon I had asked if she would then work with me to help get a refund, she agreed and even wrote me an email saying she contacted them, and they would be reaching out to me within the day via phone. (Side note she also said she didn't want to see me because she only makes 17 dollars from her groupons, which i though was wildly inappropriate to tell a client.) When I didn't hear anything from them and emailed her back stating all I saw was that my account was flagged and had not received a call, her reply was so rude calling me challenged and whiny. I really don't know how someone would work in this industry and be so rude and able to personally jab at clients but I was completely taken aback by her unprofessionalism through-and-through. I would not recommend her place of business, as when things come up she cannot handle them appropriately, timely, or professionally and will attack you for it.
