If food alone was what I'm rating, this place would be a 3 or 4. I, myself, ordered the French toast breakfast with poached eggs and bacon. The food was fitting and definitely delicious. Price is a little iffy for the amount given, but the quality of the food was amazing. My family liked their food as well. However, removing the food aspect from the equation, the service was a bit off putting. From a simple glance around the room, there was a CLEAR difference how our table was treated in contrast to other tables from the way we were spoken to, checked on, and assisted, and I am sad to say it was not in a good way. I hope that this is a one time thing where the woman who assisted us was having a bad day, but with her showing kindness to other tables, but appearing as if we were a drag to assist throughout the whole meal, it's quite a disheartening feeling. I may try out this place again (maybe not for breakfast) but at the time being, this place is not somewhere I'd recommend.

Our table split the calamari appetizer, a Caesar salad, and a cheese pizza. The food was delivered piping hot and very quickly. They had a great wine selection, so we also decided to split a bottle of red. The dessert looked delicious, but we were too full from dinner to get to try it. There is a bar with plenty of seating right next to the restaurant, too, with a wide variety of beers, wine, and liquor for after dinner drinks.

This is not just a restaurant--it is a culinary experience that reflects passion, craftsmanship, and a deep respect for Alaska's incredible produce. The ambience is exceptional. The restaurant is housed in a beautifully restored old home that has been transformed into an architectural gem. Large French windows flood the dining room with natural light and frame breathtaking views of Mount Alyeska. Watching the lush green mountains as clouds gently drift across their peaks creates an atmosphere that is peaceful, intimate, and uniquely Alaskan. Even before the food arrives, the experience begins with the menu itself. It is beautifully designed, thoughtfully curated, and filled with clever, catchy dish names that immediately make you smile. It perfectly reflects the restaurant's creativity and personality, making you excited to order even before the first plate reaches the table. I ordered the blackened Alaska sablefish, one of Alaska's signature fish, and it was magnificent. The fish was incredibly buttery, perfectly cooked, and lightly finished with sea salt, allowing its natural flavors to shine. Every bite reminded me why sablefish is considered one of Alaska's finest seafood delicacies. My wife and son both had the meat burger, and it was outstanding. It was juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection--no ordinary burger. The quality of the beef really stood out and made it one of the best burgers we've had. The dessert was unforgettable. The olive oil chocolate cake with sea salt, layered with a luscious vanilla cream cheese filling, was simply to die for. Rich without being heavy, beautifully balanced, and one of the finest desserts we've had in a long time. What impressed me just as much as the food was the people. We had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Franz, the owner, who shared that he moved here from Michigan 25 years ago and has never looked back. His passion for Alaska, hospitality, and exceptional food is evident throughout the restaurant. That same passion is shared by the entire team. Every member of the staff genuinely cares about creating a memorable dining experience, and their warmth and enthusiasm make you feel incredibly welcome. It is also clear that the kitchen is led with experience and excellence. The current chef, having spent many years at the renowned Alyeska Resort, brings tremendous skill and refinement to every plate while celebrating local Alaskan ingredients. Fresh ingredients, flawless execution, spectacular views of Mount Alyeska, thoughtful architecture, a beautifully crafted menu brimming with personality, and heartfelt hospitality--Jack Sprat delivers on every level. This is easily one of the finest dining experiences we've had in Alaska, and a restaurant that deserves recognition far beyond Girdwood. We cannot wait to return.

I asked if I could wait until a table opened up, to which I was asked, "you want to wait?" - it felt as if they didn't want me there & I honestly wasn't sure why. Regardless I said yes & was able to wait 30 minutes to get a seat. The waiter was lovely. I ordered a stone bowl & he said I would be able to swap out the egg with mushrooms without any issues / fees. But when I got my bill later, they charged me $6 to do this. I kindly asked why & if they could adjust to which he said they absolutely would. But then he came back and said the owner said actually they won't be adjusting the bill. It just felt... odd & honestly not great customer service overall. I wouldn't have ordered my meal the way I did had I been told differently. I promptly paid my bill and left. I will say it was incredibly overpriced for what I got. I ordered the stone bowl + a soda and paid $60! For one person that is quite a bit. Unfortunately I won't be coming back or recommending this to others.

This was the restaurant where I had my very first pepper steak, and it remains absolutely incredible. The pepper sauce delivers a rich flavor that elevates an already stellar cut of meat. I'm not sure where they source their beef, but it easily tops most steaks I find back home in Montana. The tenderness, texture, and flavor profile are spot-on--I would take a Double Musky steak over Morton's or Ruth's Chris any day of the week. Thank you for making my return visit so memorable and for keeping the tradition of the Double Musky alive. It means so much to know that some classic places never change!"
