An Alaskan IPA and Alaskan Seltzer with the new koozie design. The deck faces directly out over Prince William Sound.

This place is a great spot to enjoy a cold beer or wine on the deck on nice days, or sip some coffee and utilize the WiFi inside the cozy cafe on not so nice days. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service is top notch and friendly!

Oceanfront Cafe has undeniably one of the best views in Whittier. Their perfect little patio is legit. We happened to be in Whittier for a jet ski tour, on the sunniest day since having consistent rainy conditions. The weather was perfect; the sun was beaming. We came straight to Oceanfront Cafe afterwards, to grab a few chowders to warm up. The middle table on the deck was waiting for us. Oceanfront's salmon chowder is hearty and filling. A little bland to accommodate multiple tastes I assume, but they do include salt and pepper on the table. Hot sauce helps too.

We had such a great time checking out oceanfront cafe, which we just happened to wander up to while looking for a quick lunch before our jet ski tour. I wish I had a picture of the sandwiches and soup because they were SO good, but we kinda ate on the go. We enjoyed the service and scenery so much that we went back after our tour too. We got to know the owners and one ended up being from Missouri as well, which made us feel right at home. 10/10 wish I was back there right now!

Halibut bites paired with a PBR for the win Cutest little spot - so homey, great employees and incredible food!

Can not say enough praise for this little cafe! The staff is super friendly and the chowder was full of clams, potatoes, and love! Don't come expecting fast food service everything is fresh! And you can't beat the views!

Great place! Great coffee! Great customer service! Great food! Highly recommend. View of seating outside was beautiful

I was expecting their standard tasty seafood chowder and a good cup of espresso like I had their last summer. Turns out they have a new chef up there with a cool new menu. The halibut tacos were slammin! Awesome house made "Baja" sauce really made it pop. They also offer it in salmon, which my son had and he really dug it. They have a super cool reindeer dog menu as well. Some really cool concoctions there. My favorite was the Seoul Dog I think it was called. Had a house made vegan kimchi and some other fixings, was so good. There were also some even more out there offerings, one was a berry jam and cream cheese topped reindeer dog. My wife got that and we really like it. They also have more standard options and of course their seafood chowder. Hanging out on the ocean front deck on a sunny day was amazing, didn't want to leave! No better place in Whittier to hang out and watch for whales! We'll be back next time were around.

We were so pleased with our lunch here. Everything we ordered was delicious! They use real (not American) cheese in the grilled cheese, the kimchi (on the Seoul food dog) was homemade and the salmon chowder was the best we have had to date. If you're doing low carb or keto, skip the bun and get the fixings on your dog with mustard and mayo. The staff/cook were so kind and served us well. We will definitely be back soon!

We had the salmon special and tofu bibimbap and both dishes were exceptional. The gochujang sauce was spicy and sweet with the bibimbap and the salmon was perfectly cooked - the crispy skin was amazing. Also had the Black Diamond sundae - amazing. Great wine pairing in Stoller as well. Service was fast and friendly, which was welcomed.

We did get the dip bread appetizer about 15 minutes after ordering which helped. Then we waited another full hour after finishing it before our food arrived. The food was inconsistent. The chow fun noodles were undercooked. More like al dente pasta which does not work for a Chinese dish. The burgers came with fries that were cold and hard. They did fix that quickly and brought fresh fries which were much better. The wagyu burger was the biggest disappointment. The meat tasted very gamey. That is not what you expect from wagyu which should be rich and buttery. I ended up trying to cover the taste with toppings just to eat it. Not enjoyable. Our child did enjoy her grass fed beef burger and had no complaints. The atmosphere is great. Live music adds a nice touch. We also liked the shop next door and the outdoor wood fire. We like this place and wanted it to be a great experience. The food and timing just missed the mark this time. Hoping they improve because the setting is really nice.

Super amazing atmosphere tucked away down a logging road between several mountains, inside feels like a small hunting lodge! Expert great service but a long wait. Typically, knuckle meat in king crab is my least favorite....not here, it was my favorite part, sweet and tender without any hint of fishy or gamey taste. Service here was mostly very good. Very attentive and friendly, a couple of small miss steps, but accidental. I liked the atmosphere here, very unique and in my opinion Jimmy Buffett meets Cajun bayou mixed with Alaskan flair. That's the oddest combination ever, but it worked.

I ordered the game burger and added an additional patty. The waitress (I think her name was Zoey) acknowledged this request. My burger came out first but was missing the extra patty. Shortly thereafter, the meals for 4 people in my party were served. They had forgotten my son's cheeseburger. I let the woman who dropped off our food that I was missing a patty and my son didn't get his cheeseburger. "Well it wasn't written on the ticket,"she said. "OK. But we ordered it." I replied. "Alright. We'll get those out shortly," she stated. Shortly?!?! Everyone the table finished their entire meals before my son's cheeseburger was served and he finished his meal before my extra patty was served. My young children were getting impatient and my wife took them outside to play. At this point the first patty was cold and I was left to eat my overcooked burger by myself. My father-in-law came back inside as I was finishing up my uninspired meal and asked our server if he could get a separate bill for he and his wife. "We don't split bills for parties of 6 or more people AND there's an automatic 20% gratuity . What a racket. The food sucked, the service was worse, and our server was automatically over tipped. Worst Father's Day dinner I have ever had. PS - I looked at their website when writing this review. It states that parties of 6 or more will have an automatic 15% gratuity. So the server is bad at her job AND a liar?

Spectacular scenery is everywhere, so don't expect the view alone to justify the cost. Our dinner was one of the biggest disappointments of our entire trip. We were celebrating our friends' 30th wedding anniversary, making the evening especially meaningful. Our bill was over $1,700 for our group, and not one person at our table said they even liked their meal. Several dishes were barely edible. My scallop soup contained one scallop that was not fully cooked and a tiny piece of cracker. The gazpacho was overwhelmingly spicy. The beet salad was served over scattered drops of horseradish that weren't even applied consistently from one plate to another, making the dish feel careless and unbalanced. The main courses were average at best. Some people didn't even finish their filet mignon, which should be one of the easiest dishes for a restaurant of this caliber to get right. The desserts were just as disappointing. No one finished theirs, and no one had anything positive to say about them. The service was equally unacceptable. Before dinner even began, one of our friends quietly asked the waiter if he could please bring a candle with the anniversary dessert to help celebrate the couple's 30th wedding anniversary. It was the very first request made after we were seated, yet it was completely overlooked. The desserts arrived with no candle, no acknowledgment of the occasion, and no apology. It may seem like a small detail, but it reflected the lack of attentiveness we experienced throughout the evening. Our waiter repeatedly reached across guests instead of serving properly, refused to clear plates himself because he wanted the bus staff to do it, and the overall service felt slow, awkward, and very unprofessional. Even though the restaurant wasn't busy, every part of the meal seemed to take far longer than it should have. What really confirmed that it wasn't just us was talking to the family seated next to us--a group of 14--who felt exactly the same way about both the food and the service. I consider myself a true foodie. I love trying new restaurants and cuisines, and I'm far from being a picky eater. I almost never write negative reviews, but this experience was simply unacceptable. I had heard this restaurant was a "must-do" while visiting the area, which made the experience even more disappointing. In my opinion, it's simply not worth the money. I wouldn't even recommend paying to ride the tram just to dine here, because you'll find breathtaking scenery all over Alaska without spending hundreds of dollars on a meal that falls far short of expectations. I sincerely hope this review helps other travelers avoid making the same very expensive mistake we did.

We were traveling for business and trying to squeeze three people into the bar area, so we knew it might be a bit of a challenge. We eventually made it work, but service took a while to get rolling. That said, once it did start, it got really good. Our server FraniP did a great job. It took a little bit for her to engage and warm up with us, but once she did, she was attentive, friendly, and made the experience feel much more welcoming. Food-wise, we were impressed. Two of us ordered the burger and it was honestly excellent--made with a blend of ribeye and tenderloin, and you could taste the difference. Really well constructed and flavorful. I went with the mushroom soup and a Caesar salad, and both were solid choices; fresh, satisfying, and better than your average "safe" menu items. The cocktail selection was also strong, but the smoked old fashioned was way too sweet. It needed to be toned down on the sugar to let the bourbon and smoke shine through. Overall: great food, great drinks selection, and a good bar atmosphere.. just be prepared for a slower start on service during peak nights.
