When there's only 3 restaurants open during the winter months, "beggars can't be choosers" or something like that, but let me tell you this place was absolutely delicious. The server crushed it, considering we came in an hour before close with 8 people. The kitchen was on fire (no pun intended) and the food was way better than I could have hoped for given the current state of affairs. Nothing pretentious just good ol fashioned Alaskan eats!!!

Came here for lunch. The chili is ok. The fish in the fish and chips is a little chewy but the fries were delicious. There is a lodge and bar here. There is a beautiful view from the lake at this location. If you bring an old license plate, they can hang it up in the restaurant.

Stopped here on a whim after exploring some trails in the area. They have Alaska Brewery on tap. We were hoping for some local Cooper landing brews unfortunately. We both ordered the classic burgers. I didn't care for mine, the cheese was put on too early so it was entirely melted and had no taste to it. I ordered onion rings as a side and they were delicious. You get no shortage of your side. I had a lot of leftover onions rings and my partner got fries as a side and also couldn't finish them. We split the pie of the day - chocolate mint. I thought it was pretty good. Tasted like it was made with peppermint Pattie's. The best part of the experience was our server. She was very friendly. Kept our drinks filled. And checked in on us enough but not overly. We will stop here again.

Such an epic burger! We were heading to Seward and wanted to stay and eat a bit out of the touristy area. A coworker recommended Trail Lake Lodge and we loved it! After a long, difficult hike at Carter Lake, this meal was perfect. Delicious beef, great fries and onion rings, yummy dessert, it was great. We also tried one of their famous cinnamon rolls later during our drive. So good. Eat here, stay here, you'll love it, it's a quintessential Alaskan experience!

Trail lake lodge is a great little stop on the way to or from Seward. The town slows you down to 25 mph and you should stop. A full bar and with ample seating. We enjoyed the fried rock fish (or cod whichever they caught that day) and a burger. The fries were crispy and the local beer was cold. Fun signs around the bar will keep you entertained. We really enjoyed our stop. Would recommend.

Best burger in Alaska! Stopped by on the way back to Anchorage. This little place by the road side, is straight out a nice piece of Americana. Emily was terrific! She suggested their Texas burger and Oh my!!! It was AMAZING! Glad to have stopped over. This is a must for anyone looking for great flavors with nice service.

I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! We stopped here for dinner on our way to Anchorage from Seward. I got the char boiled salmon with warm Brussel sprouts and fries ( instead of mashed potato es). I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of these three items. I am someone who finds it difficult to finish any meal, but I ate everything and the plate was clean!! That's because the food was sooo good, and I took my sweet time to eat every bit of it. (My husband did steal some fries, Brussel sprouts and fish from my plate ;) ). That should tell you how good the food is!! And their fries - simple, crisp and perfect!! My husband ordered cod quesadilla and he loved it. The staff here are so friendly and accommodating, with always a smile on their face. Also, make sure you look at the view from the side yard of this place. Its just beautiful. Highly recommend this place!!

Our family hosted a family reunion at Trail Lake Lodge. They catered a Saturday night dinner for about 90 people and it was AMAZING. I admit I'm a little bougie, from a foodie city and accustom to some amazing cooks in my life and this lodge really made our family dinner special and delicious. I thanked the owner personally. Execution, customer service, quality of food, everything tasted great and I was impressed. The view of the lake with float planes parked, backdrop of mountains and watching the Alaska Railroad Trains go by was magical. I didn't actually stay the night at the lodge but a lot of my family did. You are in a town of 200 people, that was founded around 1918 to support railroad workers. . . it isn't the Four Seasons, its Alaska . . its going to be rustic. I have to say thou the bedspread was super soft. Very eclectic rooms. Not where I'd usually stay but if you want history and off the beaten path then there it is! Thank you!

It might be the best chai I've ever had, which says a lot. On the return trip we stopped again and I got a piece of strawberry-rhubarb pie that was delicious. There is a lovely patio with a view of the lake; I would have sat there longer but it was chilly and the metal chairs were a bit cold on my behind.

Over the years, there have been changes, but the dining room for the most part remains the same. Big light and airy space, with massive picture windows looking out over Summit Lake, and it's a beautiful view. There's a cosy seating area right at the entrance with comfy couches to relax on. If you can get a window seat, it's well worth it. Swallows swerve by the window with mere inches to spare, catching insects on the wing, it's quite a sight while you wait for your food. It has a rustic, log cabin Alaskan feel, but the napkins are fabric, the glassware is nice, and servers are in uniform. The menu is hard backed so it feels sophisticated. I ordered coconut shrimp from the appetizers menu, which came with some kind of special dipping sauce, and I got some French fries on the side. Husband ordered the Garbage Grinder burger and a salad. The shrimp were ok, nothing special, the dipping sauce was based on orange marmalade - I didn't enjoy that at all. The fries were ok. His Garbage Grinder burger was insurmountable in the state it is presented, there is no way a normal person can fit that in their mouth. It must be 6/7 inches high. He had to remove some items to make it thin enough to get it in. Whilst I was eating, a couple were seated on the table behind us. I didn't think my chair was sticking out that far, but this woman, when being seated, kept whacking her chair into mine, forcing me to push my chair in really tightly, which I thought it was rude and inconsiderate, as a normal person would say "excuse me, could you pull your hair in a little" but she just kept battering my chair with hers until I moved. We were obviously in very close proximity, and I heard them say they were tourists, from out of state and had just got married, and would they comp the meal? This was prior to even ordering, and not because anything was wrong with the meal, just merely because they had a strong sense of rude entitlement. You got married, why are you entitled to a free dinner? It was irritating. But obviously not the fault of Summit Lake Lodge. Anyway the server promised to ask her manager. (Who refused to comp the meal, but did offer a discount) Anyway, it's a beautiful place, in a beautiful location, you're paying for an experience, not just the food - which is slightly above average. The service is impeccable, the views are stunning, and an influencer's dream. The menu used to have a lot more items on it, simpler things - I had my first ever Reuben here years ago and it was amazing, but you can't get it anymore. It seems to change annually. Anyway, it's definitely worth stopping in.

The sleeping arrangement is perfect with all the beds upstairs and very nice blackout curtains. I was worried about the near-constant daylight but had no issues sleeping. The cabin is equipped with a wall heater that makes things surprisingly toasty, even at night (we came when lows were in the 40s). The mini kitchen works wonderfully for simple meals and breakfasts. The mini fridge is large enough to store several meals (4 dinners and 5 breakfasts) and has a small freezer compartment. The kitchen comes stocked with plastic utensils (metal available upon request), mugs, a coffee maker, coffee, tea (herbal and black), sweetener, and creamer which was a pleasant surprise. You can also request a kettle and/or toaster. The host/owner is super sweet and lovely to chat with. There's a wide selection of movies in the main house to use on the cabin's new TV and DVD player. There are also plenty of books available to borrow. We had a small issue with our water going out one night but she was able to reconnect us to cold water within 15 minutes and the hot was fixed overnight. The property uses well water so it was an issue with the pump which is totally understandable. The care and speed with which she handled the issue was impressive and made my experience outstanding. I would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others!
