Very dive-bar but food is great! Went for breakfast and had the "breakfast of champions" which was a couple eggs, toast, bacon, fried potatoes & 2 pancakes. Everything was cooked perfectly, and I especially liked the pancakes which were light fluffy and delicious. I do wish they'd added butter to the side of the pancakes however. The server was very nice and prompt. There is an espresso menu so maybe next time I would try something from there. They've also got a bar in there so if you feel like an adult beverage they've got you covered. I will be back for more of their pancakes in the future. read more

This cute pub is located next to the Mercantile and across the street from Spoonline and Basecamp. We arrived on a Friday evening shortly after 9pm. My HS English teacher, Mr. Joe Schumacher was playing his set in the corner and the menus we received said "Fat and Sally's (I think...don't hold me to that). I noticed almost immediately that there isn't a sign anywhere outside or inside that says "Hightower Pub." After speaking with our server, I was told we were indeed at Hightower Pub, but weekend nights they turn into "Fat and Sally's" (man I hope I'm remembering that name right.) Any way, they had a nice selection of local tap options. We tried a few. The food menu was creative. I ordered cheese sticks that were fried in a way I've never experienced, and came with tomato soup in cup, perfect for dipping. I was able to add crispy fried chicken strips. My spouse got an "animal style smash burger," that was massive and oozing. We loved everything but most items were noticeably salty. We had lots of leftovers........and....forgot them, there. Boo! I can't wait to return to try Hightowers regular breakfast/lunch menus (what they're popular for). It should be noted that most restaurants in Girdwood close by 9pm. Glad we know where to return for food and entertainment (besides the Sitz), on a weekend evening in Girdwood. read more

Our waitress was sweet and service was efficient and we received our food within 15 minutes. Delicious breakfast and everything was cooked to perfection. It's kind of hard to see the pub/restaurant from heh road but you just kinda have to keep your eyes open for it and you'll see the entrance! We were on our way back from camping, and stopped in Girdwood for brunch. As we had tried BaseCamp just a few days earlier we decided to try Hightower Pub this go round. We were greeted at the door, not by a hostess, but by a regular sitting at the bar, called Kevin (lol) he told us to have a seat, and not to mind him. One of the servers told us to grab a menu. It's by no means posh, or fancy inside. Just very basic decor. We got a coffee which was from a vacuum pump thing. It was hot and tasty. We ordered from the breakfast menu, and as it happened we both went for the burrito, which came with tortilla chips. It was a really good breakfast burrito. The breakfast potatoes that were in it, tasted like home fries - as though they had been pre-caramelized. Super yummy. Sausage, bacon,sour cream, salsa, cheese, and beans. It was a big fat burrito, and it was really filling. I couldn't eat it all, and i have a BIG appetite. Can there be anything better than breakfast, all smushed up inside of a tortilla? I don't think so, though I'd have definitely opted for Home Fries on the side than tortilla chips (only cos i love potatoes so much - and these one were delicious) I'd happily go here again and have this burrito. Service was good too, the staff were very cheerful, and efficient. The husband && I were disappointed when leaving here since I had read such good reviews - but maybe it was just an off day. The husband got biscuits & gravy w/ reindeer sausage - he misunderstood the menu && thought it had big pieces of reindeer in it, not the ground kind. I tasted it && it really didn't taste like reindeer to me. Just tasted like regular sausage. Other than that he enjoys his meal. I'm glad that I got breakfast sausage on the side of my "Huevos Ranchero". I barely ate any of the actual dish after eating the eggs off the top. The sauce was way too thick && looked and tasted more like chili than anything. It contained cold potatoes, but no mention on the menu about potatoes being in it. AND just to set me off - the menu said it contained Cotija cheese, which I'm not allergic to && my dish must of had shredded cheese that was yellow, cotija is not yellow. Overall the service was decent. Not super attentive but refilled our water when we needed it. I would def give them another try just because they have such good reviews. read more

Decent breakfast spot in town. Very low key diner. Seemingly a one woman show when we were there, but service didn't suffer for it. They have self serve drip coffee but will happily make you a tasty espresso. My maple latte was really good. I ordered the huevos rancheros which were pretty spicy. I liked them but my breakfast date would have been breathing fire. I heard good reports on the bacon and the breakfast burrito which looked hearty. read more

This especially was nice, as we had been traveling a long time to get to Girdwood. When we arrived in Girdwood most everything was closed, as it was late. First, the place is a bit of a dump. But don't let that throw you off. The service is friendly and attentive, the food good, and the beer cold with great selections and a nice mixed drinks selection. Left a little disappointed. Maybe they were short staffed and/or poorly stocked: there was no curry option (no reason given) and they were out of their homemade sauce for the cheesesteak. They did offer to put shredded cheese on the cheesesteak, however, which was nice of them. Instead, I chose the very average Kahuna burger. Seating is limited inside but there is an outside seating option in which you may order at the bar and they bring out your food. If you're lucky, they've remembered to fill up the outdoor water cooler so that you can have more than one cup of water. Maybe the breakfast options are better. Luckily, we're only here for one night so I won't have to endure the same punishment twice. read more

We stopped through on our way back from Whittier. They serve their lunch menu through until 10pm even though the hours stated differently. The staff was super nice, and we enjoyed the interesting, albeit small menu. Unfortunately, this place is not deserving of 5 stars or in my opinion even 4. The delivery of food was quick but lacking in several ways. All of our group that ordered fries were served cold fries, one members burger was med-rare, another was well done when they asked for the same. The Caesar salad was extremely salty. The salmon seemed to be a standout great dish, but the rest of the food was mediocre. From what I gather, the place is lost in "hipster'esc" appeal, and needs to dial basic food service before it wears 5 stars and can ask $15+ for a burger and fries. Service was excellent from the moment we stepped in. Small space and there were 5 of us but they more than accommodated. Locals were also very welcoming. To make it even better their menu had an amazing variety of food I didnt expect. I ordered the wutang which was a vegan bowl. They used unagi sauce which made big impact. Nonetheless we came back for breakfast the next day since their breakfast menu looked amazing too...and tasted just as good as their dinner. Service similarly was top level.
