We became Wine Maker Select club members a little over a year ago. Living in the Phoenix, Az area, Wiens has become our Graceland of wine that is a quick 6 hour drive from home. This makes it the perfect weekend trip for the adults. Being Winemaker Select club members has so many perks. We get free daily tasting in their standard tasting room. Naturally we take advantage of that all 3 days we are in town. However it's the Cellar tasting the we get every two months that keeps us coming back. Normally the Cellar tasting is held in their beautiful cellar room. However with COVID it has been moved outside on the patio for the last year. During the summer it got a little hot on the patio but Wiens did their best to cool everyone off. During the winter they had heaters to keep everyone warm. At the Cellar tasting you get to sample all of Wiens best wines. They pair those amazing wines with cheese and salami. It's such a fun experience. read more

We love Wiens - it's a must when visiting Temecula. My husband picked up a 2020 reserve Cabernet Sauvignon on Friday that just won a Double Gold. Upon arriving we are always we are always greeted with a smile. Sandy the Cellar room manager is always very accommodating and knows what we enjoy. Ramona and Scott introduced us to new varietals that include sparking white and red. Which ever kind of wine you prefer, you can find it here. We enjoyed a couple of Wiens bottle last night. We really like the family atmosphere, and the wide variety of wine choices for all pallets. read more

Really enjoyed the 80's weekend. Fun atmosphere, music and games. Also loved the Italian food they are now serving there. It was so nice to have amazing Italian food, it goes so well with the wine. We had 2 types of tasty pasta, a pizza and a sandwich and even burrata (my favorite!). Delicious! Staff was very friendly too. Will definitely return. read more

One of my fave wineries in town! I literally joined their wine club on my first visit here. I've mainly been a guest during the weekdays, and this last weekend I went on a Saturday. Soooooo, on weekdays, it's not crazy busy. So if you like that scene, take advantage of the weekdays. I feel more catered to by the server and able to enjoy the calmness of the weekday scene. The servers I've had during the weekdays have been helpful in suggestions for the season and offering great options for purchase. Now, last Saturday, it was crazy busy, with mainly every patio table in the main patio having guests. I'm still not familiar with all the areas, and maybe on my next visit I should ask for a brief tour so that I know where it's off limits, like for the higher tier level club members go. Lol. Anywho, last Saturday there were a couple times I had to get up to go to the "bar" to have another tasting filled. Our server was all over the place and when my glass is empty, I'm really hoping to get that glass filled with more wine sooner than later! It was just a full 180 experience compared to a weekday is the best way to describe it. We just missed the live music too. We came down when the 91 East was closed so it took forever to drive down. :( Last time I was down here, I saw that folks were bringing their own crackers, chocolate, meats, cheeses, fruits, etc with them. So this time around, I did the same. Brought in a small cooler full of the above, and it was great! We fit into the crowd! Lol. Overall, love the variety of wines here. I initially signed up for the mixed club, because it includes a bottle of the amour de la , I think that's what it's called. Lol. But after doing a large purchase of it and getting a couple bottles thru the club, I was like I have too many on hand. So I recently changed to the red club. I was hoping in this first red club pick up to get a variety, but I received 2 of the sangiovese. Hmm, not sure I like that. Oh well, let's see what I pick up in 2 months! read more

Almost a decade ago now, we were very close on choosing Wiens for our wedding venue. It in my opinion is a staple in Temecula because of its history and consistency of delicious wines and beautiful landscape. It has become a mandatory stop in our wine tasting adventures in Temecula. They don't have a kitchen but you can find meats and cheeses inside. They also partnered with a taco truck and pizza vendor. Food is excellent. Here is my truthful opinion. I'm a huge advocate for Justin Wines. It was the wine that was featured at our wedding. Wiens comes a second best to Justin. This is 100% a compliment. because when we are not in Paso at Justins, you'll absolutely find us at Wiens. read more

We've been members for a while. We have to drive hours to come and visit, it's always worth the trip! The cellar room tastings are an exceptional experience and a great way to start the day. We almost always end up coming back at the end of the day as it's one of our favorite places. Here's a tip for anyone going wine tasting in Temecula, If the place you're going to has a great view, awesome restaurant, or the place to be, try Wiens first. We originally went here because of the red wine reputation. We've gone back monthly because all of the wines here are awesome! Reds, whites, rose. We love the staff, especially Ramona! We had a fantastic tasting today with Crystal. Came in expecting to just taste a few wines and move on for the day but we received exceptional service. She was so helpful explaining the different wines, exploring our pallets and pushing us out of our comfort zone with wines. She even gave us a tour of the grounds, which was quite unexpected. We found this to be a very hospitable tasting room. Our server was great ! Inside is the best experience. Outside is large with a covered patio but not too much atmosphere. At wineries we really look for pretty grounds or a view. We purchased a case of wine for a family event. Variety of choices. Their reds are awesome. We joined but then cancelled after 3 months because they put our favorite " in the library"... can't taste or purchase. That happens ! They have a VERY nice selection of whites too. Outside tasting isn't as good, mostly because it's hard for them to keep the whites cool and get around to everyone. I would suggest some food other than the packaged items. We will try pizza night sometime. Sounds great with their Montepulciano !! read more

Attended a private company dinner held in the Cellar Room after public hours. The Cellar Room was beautifully decorated and was able to seat 50+ guests. With the barrels stacked on each other and a few accent lights, it made for a rustic feel. The table settings were simple yet elegant as seen in the pictures. The color combinations were perfect. The bartender was friendly and had a heavy pour. We was quick! The servers were very attentive and efficient. All the offerings were delicious, from the appetizers, salad, main entree and dessert. Definitely enjoyed my time here. The property is beautiful and would probably be prettier during sunset. I'll be back for sure. Thanks Wiens for taking care of me and my co-workers. I've been to this winery as a guest of a member a few times. All experiences have been most positive. There are plenty of picnic tables around the tasting room for lunching. There are several venues for tasting, depending on your level of membership. This time, we enjoyed a private tasting in their cellar room, and then experienced the full offering in the member only tasting room. Friendly staff, generous ours, and great wine at reasonable pricing. I'm about to become a member now!!! read more

So update to Weins Family Cellars review. I was really annoyed with the fact that their memberships were either red only. Or, mixed. But... the mixed had one red, one whit and an orange sparkling wine they really push. It's good the first time but is not a repeat drink. We needed up cancelling out memberships because we could t get an all white shipment. 3 years later they still didn't offer a better solution and I ripped them a bit on here. Two years later (new years Eve) we stopped by for a tasting (as we have always liked the wines here) and low and behold, they have a white wine only membership option! We had been asking for nearly 5 years and now we are members again. The wine has always been good but the management finally listened to the customers who wanted to buy the fabulous white wines they offer. Very happy. I will return. read more

We are Southern California's premier winery & tasting room. We are open daily for tastings and offer award-winning red, white, and sparkling wines!

History

Established in 2000.

We began with a vision – create high quality, hand-crafted California wine from vine to glass. Upon planting our first vineyard by hand in 1996, our connection to the process deepened & that vision evolved. Five varietals became twenty-seven, one employee grew to more than fifty, and one 14-acre vineyard became over 150 acres of hand-cultivated vines. As our ambition expanded, so did our membership. A new family formed from the business & our connections became infinite. Mark and David Steinhafel, a father and son team, were searching for a shared business venture and through this process found Wiens Family Cellars. From the initial winery estate visit, they were impressed by the range and the quality of the wines, the expertise and passion of the staff, and the tasting room and production facilities. The Steinhafel family acquired Wiens Cellars in 2022 and continues to build upon the strong legacy the Wiens family built for over 20 years.

We came here after we checked out of our room and our favorite was the cuvée prestige. This place is very peaceful and secluded which makes for the perfect weekend getaway. There was so much meat on it that it pretty much covered the pasta itself. 4.5/5 We had a wine flight ($25) and I liked the pas doux and the vermentino. We also liked the vernaccia nera ($15), a sparkling wine and a specialty of the Temecula area. This was a very relaxing lunch followed by a nice stroll around the premises afterward.

It was less of a quiet wine-tasting vibe and more like a party-vibe. There were tons of people and we saw a lot of bachelorette parties. The music was loud and there was a fun social vibe. There were still some vineyards that you could walk through and take pictures, but the core of the action is where the food and drinks are. Even though it was geared toward adults I saw a lot of kids and strollers around. We spent a couple hours here drinking the different wines and relaxing at the table. It was fun to people-watch and just enjoy the experience and energy. If you are coming to Temecula Wine Country, this should be one of the places on your list to visit.

We recently visited WEINS Family Winery on a Friday night with friends visiting from South Carolina. Having raved about WEINS, we were excited to share what we thought would be a relaxing evening of wine tasting. Unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. Though the weather was nice, we had to sit inside to enjoy the music, which was only playing indoors. The tasting room was extremely crowded, and despite it being a busy Friday night, there were only two staff members working--a server and one person behind the bar. We purchased a tasting, but two hours into our experience, we had only tried 4 of the 8 wines. The server did not offer any descriptions of the wines and would come by every 30 minutes to ask what we wanted next. By 7:15 p.m., with half of our tasting still left, we were asked what we wanted to "finish off with." It felt rushed and unprofessional, especially with a manager noisily stacking chairs and sweeping while the music was still playing. The musician wrapped up around 7:30 p.m., and though the winery is open until 8:00 p.m., we felt pushed out and were unable to finish our tasting. Not once did the server apologize for the delays or the incomplete experience. We had arrived at 5:00 p.m.--ample time to finish a tasting--but poor service made that impossible. This was an embarrassing experience to share with our friends, especially since it was their first winery visit. We had planned to purchase bottles of our favorite wines, but due to the slow service and lack of attention, we left disappointed. The server simply collected our tasting cards with only 4/8 tastings completed. It's clear WEINS needs more staff on busy nights to ensure guests have the enjoyable experience they expect. We hope this feedback encourages improvements because this was a far cry from the exceptional experiences we've had in the past. read more

My sister is a wine club member here and took my mom (myself and siblings included) here for Mothers' day and we did a tasting. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I don't know if they normally do tours here, but I asked for one since my mom doesn't go wine tasting often. The gentleman who took us on the tour was very charismatic and took the time to explain every process of the wine-making to us. The lady who did our tasting was very personable and made very good suggestions for our different palates. One of my sisters and I like dry reds, while my mother and other sister prefer wines on the sweeter, lighter side. At the end of our wine tour, the guy who took us on the tour explained the benefits of upgrading my sister's wine club membership but was not pushy at all. I really liked that he just left it open-ended. Beautiful tasting room, and I also forgot to mention that they allowed us to try a couple of the wines in progress (from the steel tank AND the oak barrel!) All-in-all, a great experience and I will definitely be back the next time I'm in Temecula. Love. read more

My wife and I decided to try a new winery last Tuesday and found ourselves at the beautiful Wiens Cellars. After nearly five years of living in Temecula, we're always excited to discover new spots, and this one did not disappoint! Scott guided us through a fantastic tasting that we shared, and we were truly impressed by their selection. Their reds are complex and delicious, their whites are crisp and refreshing, and there's something enjoyable for every palate in between. The staff was warm and welcoming, making the entire experience even better. Though we didn't get a chance to explore the indoor space, the outdoor seating area was spacious and inviting--we're already looking forward to coming back and enjoying it.
