Food is NOT prepared in a safe environment. I've seen cockroaches walking EVERYWHERE when I ordered my food. Apparently they used the gas bomb to get rid of the cockroaches instead of professionally having the roaches exterminated. Nothing is fresh besides the tomatoes and onions. Please for your safety, report this location due to unsafe conditions, like cockroaches in this establishment. Absolutely appalled by this. Was craving a corn dog, fries, ice cream and chili hot dog at 9 pm! The ice cream was soft serve and wasn't too sweet which was to my liking, I enjoyed it. They wrapped a napkin around my cone to hold it so I want to say I appreciate them being considerate to be clean because some places don't do that!! Their fries were a bit dry and there was a slight difference in flavor for the corn dog that I've ate a year ago. I hope they improve things as I've seen a lot of other locations close down lately. I have to admit I was a little disheartened to see that this der Weinerschnitzel had some rough reviews. To be honest, I don't have really high expectations for a franchise hot dog joint... it isn't fine dining; it's assorted animal parts blended and molded into sausage-shaped links, and served with white bread and condiments, wrapped in lightly-waxed paper. I've never met a sour face there, and it's funny how often courtesy, kindness, and patience on one side of the order window prompts the same on the other side. But for me, Weinerschnitzel hot dogs are about childhood memories with my brothers, mom and dad. "Der Wein" as we called it, was a sometimes-place we would visit after a Little League game, on the way home from fishing on the rocks of Palos Verdes, or before a Dodger game... it seems even then, Der Wein's dogs were a lot cheaper than Doyer Dogs. My 5 brothers and I still laugh about the time we convinced my dad to buy 20 kraut dogs, 20 chili dogs, 20 ketchup dogs, and 20 mustard dogs... then hid under the seats of the van when he pulled up to the drive thru window, so it looked like he was going solo toe to toe with the big Ochenta. Seatbelts were optional then, but spanking your kids for being punks and making you look like a glutton was encouraged. I don't come here often; Garvey isn't on my frequent route, and Mrs. Picante gets on me for eating hot dogs and fast food in general. But every now and then, when I'm traveling on the right side of the street, I'll pull into the drive thru with ten minutes to kill and get a couple of all beef kraut dogs just for kicks, and order a fountain drink to wash it down. They're incredibly the same as they've always been... sometimes a little too steamy/soggy in the bun, sometimes not enough mustard (ask nicely for an extra pack or two in the bag), and my Lithuanian ancestry can't get enough of that warm fermented cabbage smell. As I was chatting with my mom I noticed that NONE OF the employees were wearing gloves while handling the food. Not even the cashier. I was in uttermost shock that vI have been in a while. I mean use to manage a restaurant and it's restaurant 101 to wear gloves!! On top of that there's been that covid 19 delta surge in la. I love coming here for their chili cheese fries. It's the old school, back in the days, type of chili cheese fries. Nothing fancy, but I love it. Brings be back to my childhood. I love dipping my chili cheese fries in tapatio (hot sause). Trust me, it's good. They have tapatio packets available, so don't forget to ask. The only other thing that I get here is their corn dog. Wienerschnitzel rocks! I've been going to this one for years and other than an occasional order screw-up I've never been disappointed with this place. There was a time a few years ago when it closed down "due to fire" and opened up with new equipment and an overall cleaner kitchen. Mainly, anything with their chili or their corn dogs are good. Don't forget their fries! In my opinion, better than McDonald's. My recommendation: 2 chili cheese dogs with extra chili and extra cheese, and chili cheese fries. Walk up window and drive-thru. This review is not for the location or food but for the worker Brad. When I say he is a douche bag that is being kind! Treating the other workers horribly that it seriously made me and others uncomfortable. We changed part of our order and you could clearly hear him telling an employee "make sure you get the order right because people think they could get free food if they say their order isn't right" ummm excuse me? Wow he seriously needs manners. And if he's unhappy with his job please change it. Beware of Brad is my advice. Went here today around 8:00 pm. Told the lady I wanted two of each of these coupons (I used non expired ones but the exact same thing as these) plus one extra corn dog which I also had a coupon for. I was originally told no and I said that was fine. I continued my order and then the male employee said that it was fine. But when the manager realized his mistake she went off on him. I'm well aware as she tried to explain that there was no substitutes and I told her that was fine to go back to our original order.
