I usually don't have high expectations when it comes to chain restaurants. Most of the time, I'm just looking for a quick, affordable meal. They're generally cheaper than local restaurants, so I don't tend to be too picky. But today, I experienced one of the best customer service moments I've ever had! I placed my order online but got caught up with something and ended up arriving an hour late to pick it up. When I got there, the cashier noticed that my order had been sitting for an hour and kindly asked if I'd like them to remake it or heat it up for me. Wow! I was genuinely surprised by such a thoughtful gesture, especially at a chain restaurant where I would never expect that level of care. It's such a simple thing, but it really made my day! As for the location, there are quite a few offices nearby, so lunchtime can get busy. Although the parking lot has plenty of spaces, finding one close to the restaurant during the lunch rush can be a challenge. Inside, there are probably around eight tables, which seems sufficient since most customers are office workers grabbing a quick bite before heading back to work. The ambiance is pretty typical for a casual chain restaurant--nothing fancy, but clean, simple, and practical. One thing worth mentioning: based on my previous visits, ordering in person usually means waiting at least 10-15 minutes. That's why I often end up going to a nearby fast-food place instead, or simply ordering online ahead of time. Overall, the food may be what you'd expect from a chain restaurant, but the customer service today was anything but ordinary. I don't think I've been ever been to Ono, but I was at an LAFC game the night before and because they won, they were doing a promo for 6.99 lunch plate. I believe when they say lunch you can order this plate all day. And to use the promo, you will need to order online and use the promo code. The ordering took awhile for me because the sign in process took forever (not the restaurants fault) but once I ordered they gave me a time, so I showed up around the time. I think all of SGV had the same idea because there were sooo many people ordering and picking up. The problem I had with the restaurant is that they were way understaffed for this promo day, so if you're not there when your order is called, then they won't call it again. So, you kind of have to flag down the employee (who is also trying to a million other things) and it's hard. I got lucky cuz I had 2 seperate orders and right when I came in they called one of my order and I waited about a minutes for my other order. I would definitely suggest getting there a little earlier to make sure you hear your name called. Aside from the ordering and picking up experience, for a promo lunch plate, it was pretty good deal. I'm really disappointed with my experience here. According to my receipt, the employee who helped me was Daniela. From the start, she had a very unfriendly attitude and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her by ordering. She had an angry expression and was not welcoming at all. After placing my order, I went next door to grab food for my child and came back 20 minutes later to check if it was ready. When I asked if they had called my number yet, another employee reacted as if it were unreasonable for me to even ask, even though it had already been a while. Then, when it was time for my number to be called, she stood there repeating my number over and over, knowing it was mine and clearly just being rude. In total, I waited 30 minutes, which feels excessive for fast food. The restaurant was completely packed, and we had to wait 30 minutes just to get a table. Seeing how busy it was, I assumed the food would be worth the wait. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The chicken was extremely salty and basically inedible. I could only manage a few bites. Ono's is so nostalgic to me because I use to get it after my collegiate games. I always get the pick two because I like the salad just a bit more than I do of the mac salad (unpopular opinion). Also no sauce on my salad! They packed my bowl and I was not able to finish all at once. Ate it the day after and it was still very good! I've always enjoyed onos and this place is no different. Picked up an online order at 7:30 and had no issues. They pack tons of sauce for you for pickup which is also nice. I tried out the bbq beef musubi for the first time and would say it's worth a try, personally feel like it's better than the spam musubi. For the mains I got the melemele curry chicken and it tasted like it had some Indian spices. Overall pretty good but don't know if I'd go to onos for that. Ono is one of my favorite go-to meals when I want some etching satisfying and most importantly, to get me full! I've never dined at the Rosemead location yet but thanks to the Yelp Elite event I was glad it introduced me to this branch. Ashley was so helpful and such a sweetheart when coming to take my order. Although I've had Ono before, I felt like trying something new and letting Ashely choose for me. She was able to answer all my questions, give me suggestions, and allowed me to alter some of the order to encompass everything I wanted. Thank you! I was lucky to get in right before the dinner rush to order but never felt rushed. The service was quick, my order being ready in about 5 minutes. The food was hot and fresh and smelled amazing. I always love their BBQ Chicken and Beef. Tender chicken made with thigh so you know it's gonna be good. Galbi sometimes is hit or miss but I just wanted to try it, bit oily in general. Veggies under are always just good to cut through the meat but THE MAC SALAD. I usually order extra but it's always a staple when it comes to Ono orders. My partner said the katsu was really crispy and had a good amount of meat. Biggest advice is to NOT LEAVE WITHOUT SAUCE. If anything ask for extra if you like sipping like me. Credit Cards: They're accepted Restroom: They do have restrooms, but they're not accessible during this time due to the coronavirus. Location/Parking: Located between Subway and Panda Express. Parking can be a bit stressful depending on the time of day you go. Due to the stay at home order, parking can be had with less stress. Ambiance/Decor: Nice ambiance with modern furnishings. There is a 10 person limit at the shop now. Also, there is plexi glass that protects the staffer behind the register Service: Staffers are nice, friendly, and attentive. Food comes out at a decent time also. Just make a mental note that it's only delivery or take out only. It's been awhile since I had Hawaiian BBQ so I came here for lunch. My cousin that brought me here suggested the Ono Hawaiian BBQ Mix which consists of BBQ Chicken, BBQ Beef, and Kailbi Short Ribs. Served with rice and Macaroni Salad the meal is a meat lover's afternoon delight. Even with the available sauces I've felt that they were unnecessary because the meats were so flavorful already. The short ribs were nice and tender from the fat and sweet savory BBQ sauce - like eating meat candy. The chicken was great too with its tangy smokey flavor. The beef was also enjoyable but was eclipsed by the short ribs. Being a glutton I also had a Spam Musubi which is fried Spam with Japanese rice wrapped in Seaweed. Quite good.
