Nice clean atmosphere. Decent staff but a frustrating situation arose in August. Bought my vehicle from one dealership in Wisconsin that actually committed consumer fraud only to have to get Ford corporate involved and Wickstrom Ford to fix those issues. When it was all said and done, a majority of the work was fixed without issue I figured I'd get a $49.00 oil change and inspection with tire rotation. Witnessed the guy only change the oil. They still wanted to charge me full price and gave me some flack. Ended up negotiating a $20 oil change instead for the work that they did do. Follow up: On September 23, 2019, I decided to change my attitude and give this place another shot. This time, I bought a used car from them and I have to tell you, it was a great experience. You got to go in here knowing what you want to spend because if you don't, they're going to do their job but it's not their fault if you don't feel like you negotiated the best deal. In my situation, I feel like I got a good deal and a great experience all the way around. People make mistakes, we all do and either learn from those mistakes or you don't and I feel like I might have approached these people a little aggressively. My encouragement to you would be that if you go to any dealership and they give you a bad time, try to work with them and if that doesn't work, then proceed accordingly but I definitely would recommend this dealership and especially my sales associate Rich Cline and Brian Powell. read more

After I posted my initial review about break issues, and owned my side of the issue, Joe at Wickstrom called me personally to discuss the situation. We had an honest conversation, and Joe encouraged me to come back in to re-evaluate the breaks. So glad that he did. I also met with Frank in service - and after an honest assessment - Frank had his service department make the appropriate adjustments to the breaks. Awesome. My family has been dong business with Wickstrom for decades, but this was personally my first vehicle purchased from Wickstrom. I went here to purchase a new car, a 2016 Mustang GT. I was looking for a white performance pack model, with premium audio. I originally ordered it, but the order at the factory ran too long and I was running out of summer! The search was on. Dealer trading is difficult. Often times when a dealer wants another car, they have to work a deal to trade. One dealer up north had what I wanted but they simply said no. It took a lot of searching to find another 2016 new performance pack premium with upgraded audio. Ruby Red was my 2nd choice color. Lee Werner searched in over a 100 mile radius to find one 60 miles north in Wisconsin. The next day, they sent somebody to pick it up, drive it back, and I left the same day in my new car. It was my first new car experience, and it was so effortless. Finance did everything for me, got a fantastic deal, and even took my deposit I thought I lost on the factory order, and put it toward the down payment! The detail team did a great job too, I've never seen a car so flawlessly clean. All in all, the process was so refined, friendly, laidback and professional, it makes me wonder how anyone could be annoyed by the new car buying process. So I took my car for the works package (oil change, tire rotation, inspection) a transmission fluid flush and a recall for roof rack rails. I dropped off my car in the morning since I had made an appointment to get this done. I go to pick up my car and they said they were still working on it, no problem I didn't mind the wait because I have been to this dealer before and have no problems. It is now 45 min later and they come and tell me it's all done no issues, at this point I am one happy customer. On my way home I just happens to look up at my oil change reminder sticker and noticed that it was not changed, no biggie I figured they just forgot so I looked at the oil life meter and it was not changed now the wheels are turning. I get home and look at my tires and they look like they have not been touched, they were covered in road salt so if they touched them you would see the markings. I pop the hood and look at my oil and its dirty, I go under the car and the oil filter is the old one. I called the dealer and they asked for me to go back to check, I drive the 40min and they take my car. The service writer comes back and apologized and said that the techs got confused and thought that the other did the change, as I am sitting in the waiting room they have the bays on video so I can see what they are doing. The car goes up they change the oil they look at the tires and the car is out, no tire rotation no inspection. The service writer comes back and says all done, I asked about the tire rotation and he said yup all done. I have no problem with the service writer he can only say what the techs tell him but the credibility of the dealership is shot with me, I spent $300 for a service that almost didn't get done and what's worse is that I had to sit there and supervise them to make sure they do their job. I am still waiting for their service manager to call me about this, it's been 2 weeks and not a word guess that's how they treat their customers stay away from this place. read more

I have been a loyal client for many years. I purchased tires for my previous vehicles and loved the customer service. That is why I kept coming back. This Spring I purchased 3 Run on Flat tires for my BMW paid over $1200.00. I also bought winter tires and I have been having them switching for few seasons. It was great experience when Barbara was working there. Never had an issue with anyone until now. On 12/21/19 my husband took my BMW to have my tires switched to my winter tires. Sounds real easy but one of the technician has broke wheel lock on the lug nut. SAM who was taking care of this situation has told my husband they can't find a tool to fix this issue and they also can't change this one tire. What kind of dealership is this without correct tools. Plus if they break it they should fix it. Not a great Customer service SAM. Clearly SAM needs couching on how to deal with customers or get a manager involved if he can't resolve this situation. Sam never apologized for this incident and told my husband that was wear and tear and there is nothing they can do or they can't even fix their mistake! Wow, they clearly don't care about their customers!!!!! I sure don't want them to touch my car since they clearly don't know what they are doing. I did not purchase my car here but did work with AUSTIN over the phone. I let Austin know I was tired of cheesy car dealers trying to rip me off and he handled my situation with kit gloves. Normally a car salesman will NOT help you out over the phone but Austin wanted to gain my trust so he helped me the best he could without me being in the actual dealership. Austin was all about customer service and adding no surprises. He advised me of every surprise I may come across the way. I had been to 4 or 5 dealerships and only Austin told me about the first payment being needed up front. I did not expect to make my first payment the day of leasing the car because no dealership told me about this. This would be my first leases. Austin wants a return customer not just a one time pissed off customer. He was unbelievably patient with me. I can be pretty tough to wheel and deal with. I was beyond frustrated and he had all the patience in the world. I car shop and pretty aggressively, I want the best deal for my hard earned money. Purchased my car a few years ago from this location. I dont live near the service center, so I normally use someone closer. My check engine light has been coming on/off since purchasing the vehicle, so I figured I'd bring it back to have them check it out. The service center is over priced and I tried to get to work and just leave with an oil change, but was going to have a recall done and a diagnostic test, the service agent kept saying "only a few more minutes". We have purchased two vehicles from Wickstrom. We had a part go out on our second vehicle. They replaced the part, only to have it fail within a week. We aren't clear if it was the part or the service. We brought it back within a week and waited a total of three months to get our vehicle back. The part was backordered and Wickstrom refused to put on an aftermarket part because Ford wouldn't reimburse them for the part or labor if they did. They also refused to assist us with a loaner vehicle because they said they didn't know how long it would take for a Ford part to become available and it would be costly for the dealership. While I understand this is a business, their service failed and yet they kept our vehicle hostage for a few hundred dollars worth of reimbursement from Ford. Wickstrom deflected the accountability to Ford when convenient. Our family was left without the vehicle for months and they didn't address it until we became extremely forceful in the conversations with them. In the end, they put on an after market part which very well could have been done within the first week. I would never recommend Wickstrom again due to their lack of responsiveness, lack of empathy for the customer and rude service managers. read more

Brought my vehicle to this dealership for the Ford Motor Co recall on Explorers for the rear toe link replacement. After replacement the front wheel alignment should be checked for alignment with the rear wheels. This is part of servicing these replacement parts. My wife received a telephone call from the service writer who advised that the rear wheel alignment with the front wheels is not covered under the recall and will cost an additional $59. I called and spoke to a different service writer who advised the front wheels were out of alignment and that is the reason for the additional charge. So we have 2 different claims for the same repair. I find the business ethics of this dealership to be concerning. The truth never changes but I guess the story does at Wickstrom. I called another Ford dealer who advised that the alignment of the front wheels with the rear wheels is part of the covered repair by Ford. This isn't the first time I have questioned the ethics of the service writers. The service writers make money on the additional services they sell over the counter and it makes me wonder if that is the driving force of the up charge. This type of behavior makes a bad customer experience but when a dealer sells as many cars as Wickstrom does maybe customer experience isn't a priority read more

I bought a 2016 Explorer 3- days in my battery dies Ok Fine -replaced no issues. Then I Notice there are chips in the window brought it to get fixed they said they replaced my whole window ok fine But-My trim holding the window down was sticking an almost 2 inches out very visible to the eye. Found I had a major whistle in the windshield called them they treated me like I was crazy but then got a call stating that their glass guys was def and was able to hear the whistle . Per them they fixed it. I picked the car up again and guess what still a whistle for the made a call was told John would call me back two weeks now no call. Brought to my company's auto place their glass guy looked at it said the trim was all messed up and also my glass was loose in the windshield which is why I still have the whistle so basically Ford tried to glue down the side thinking this fixed the problem which stayed down for a week and then popped back up-- they did nothing to fix it at all and thank god that my windshield didn't break while driving . Purchase included 2 Fobs only received one keep calling to see if they found and keep being told no. Bottom Line Wickstrom ford in barrington, IL is not nice people and do not service you like they should. They do very bad work and they do not stand by there word or the work they do on your vehicle. When the Manager Looked at me and said " Maybe this car isnt for you" I should have gotten up and walked out of that place. They have made my experiance horrible. I regret not walking out and I regret every knowing anything about this place I should .. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with our experience here. We bought a brand new vehicle from Wickstrom that subsequently had a reoccurring leak in both passenger and driver side windows. After multiple repairs the problem still persisted. When addressing it with Wickstrom multiple times they were consistently dismissive and unhelpful, refusing to investigate an issue with multiple reoccurrences. Furthermore, we had several negative experiences with the staff that we felt were racially driven and when addressing it with the general manager, Robert Palazzo, we were completely dismissed. This was very significant as it relates to how this place is run and managed. To this day the issues with the car have not been resolved. If you are looking for good customer service and a company that operates with integrity, I would look elsewhere. Below is what we also submitted to the BBB. To whom it may concern, As a customer of Wickstrom Ford, I have been treated poorly, misled through multiple contracts by multiple employees (e.g. rental car with warranty, scope of work on previous service/warranty), and met with what I deem to be racism from multiple employees since 2018 when I purchased my vehicle. I recently addressed my concerns with General Manager- Robert Palazzo, in late June. When I told him I felt discriminated against based on my race, he immediately spoke over me aggressively and would not allow me to explain exactly what happened and how I had been treated by his employees, and experienced racial discrimination. He insisted that I was wrong without even knowing my experience and assured me that as a white male, he was more qualified to define what is racism and what is not. As the general manager, this behavior has led me to believe that my experience is rooted in systemic racism that stems from the top. In this case being General Manager- Robert Palazzo. I am left with the impression that the owners of Wickstrom Ford Auto Group- Colin Wickstrom and Richard Wickstrom , are allowing this behavior to occur. My experience with Palazzo leaves me with no choice but to file reports with the BBB, Ford Corporate Customer Relations, and the Department of Human Rights. Since 2018, I've had multiple employees treat me with respect initially, only to have their tone and overall diction devolve to rude and flat out degrading towards me- once they asked for my last name or had me come in physically and realized I was Hispanic. I have multiple friends and family who have purchased vehicles at Wickstrom Ford. Those who are minorities- have all reported degrading treatment and misleading service. Those who are white, have not. When I purchased the vehicle, a white male attempted to sell me an extended warranty. I declined and told him I would only purchase the vehicle if my base warranty included a rental car anytime the base warranty was utilized. He agreed to those terms verbally. I was later told that was not placed in my contract. When I tried to explain this to the general manager, he insisted it must have been the Hispanic car salesmen's fault, not the Caucasian man selling the warranty. On multiple occasions I've called for service. They've made it clear I would receive a rental car if the repair is on warranty and then immediately retract when I give them my name, which is Hispanic. Always coming up with a reason why I can't receive a rental car. The same thing has happened when I come physically in person. Nice on the phone when I don't give my name, and then degrading when I come in person and they see I'm Hispanic. The vehicle was purchased brand new and has had the same window mechanical issue 3 times despite multiple repairs. When I've told them I'm concerned that either I purchased a defective vehicle or it hasn't been repaired properly- I have been told it's my problem, not theirs. I am a first generation Hispanic. My family and I have experienced racism on many occasions. I thoroughly recognize racial discrimination. I am also a pharmacist with a doctoral education and I work with the general public myself. I know poor customer service when I experience it. In regards to a resolution; it is only fair that all repairs from BOTH defective windows are repaired IMMEDIATELY at no cost to myself with a complimentary rental car provided (as verbally promised by multiple employees). This would be the second and third time the windows are fixed so I would need a thorough explanation as to how the repair is being done more thoroughly this time and a guarantee of work done would need to extend 24 months, given the defective nature of the issue and multiple repairs rendered. In regards to my experience of racial discrimination from Wickstrom Ford employees, I will require a direct apology via email from both the general manager and at least 1 owner of Wickstrom Ford. During the peak of Covid we dropped car at quick lane and not ONE guy in there was wearing masks or gloves. Not one! Zero. Also, when picking up car we paid by phone before heading over there expecting the keys and receipt to be in car already. They made us come inside once more and waiting more than 10 minutes walked right up to us within 2 feet to hand keys and receipt -again with no gloves or mask.
