I had trans work done about 2 years ago. I supplied my own parts and oil including extra trans gasget extra filter extra oil. I asked for an out of door price since i supplied all materials. They agreed. When i picked up my GLK350 he had an extra $50 on the bill i said whats this. Oh you supplied your own parts. Fed up I left. I got home and found the $120 of extra stuff that was in the trunk was gone. I was taken for a ride. Now trans started to act up. Took to a better repair shop in Mundelin. They fond that Manfreds did not bolt wired back in place post trans oil change. Burned wire harness on exhaust. . Cost $500 to fix. Be afraid very afraid of this shop. read more

Is Alex writing his own reviews? I've been going to Manfred's occasionally for the past 10 years. I thought it was better when the older guy with the accent was there. I would drop the car off and when I picked it up, work was done right and would last for years. This last time I went there the bigger guy with the beard was really nice and tried to explain the work that was done but the younger guy with the short dark hair kept interrupting with negative, cocky comments. This past time I had a couple thousand dollars worth of work done on my car (I feel I paid the surcharge for being female) and now my car rattles and clunks as I go over every bump in road. I don't feel like be talked down to by the condescending guy so I'm not bringing it back, I'll just replace the car I'm not as confident in the work done there as I used to be. read more

This place is worth the drive! It's no wonder they have 5 star reviews; they're awesome!! I was referred to Manfred's so I called to make an appointment and order tires. That was on a Tuesday. I was able to make the appointment for that Thursday and made the trek from Naperville to Cary for new tires, an oil change, and a service B on my Mercedes. I was generously offered a loaner car, which made my time in the area much more efficient, and for that I'm thankful! Always a little nervous to walk into a new auto shop, I easily parked out front and went in where I was greeted by three super nice men and one handsome German shepherd. Within a few minutes, I was back out the door in a lovely loaner car. Everything was ready within the hour and a half promised. In fact, I wasn't even done with the couple errands I had to do! My car is now driving nicely with its new tires, my service notification is no longer telling me I'm overdue, the fluids are topped off, and I drove back to Naperville, happy and confident that my car was in great condition! As a woman, I am always wary of taking my car blindly into an auto place for the first time. In the past, I have been more than once overcharged for services, or sold services that I'm not altogether convinced I needed. Manfred's is not that place. Alex, the owner, is a young guy that not only knows his sh*t, but is also the most honest mechanic you could ever hope for. Be careful! they charge way more than the dealer. Following recommendations from friends took my 328ic for service. Did not expect such high prices so did not ask prior to service. The service was great but then they gouged me on the price - 27.5% higher than the dealer. The reasons to go to private repair shops is honest and good service at a price lower than the dealer. Manfred's price was higher so I feel cheated and abused. The dealer does this same excellent service at a lower price, gives me a loaner car, a nice waiting lounge with free wi-fi and TV etc, free drinks/snacks and in addition I know that BMW is available if there is a problem. With these guys, I only get good service and nothing else for a higher price. So people, be very very careful and check prices BEFORE the repair. I wrote to them but was just ignored and absolutely no response from them. read more

I was very impressed with their knowledge of the my car and the general niggles that accompany the particular year and model. While friendly, quick, and cost-effective; their complete lack of knowledge about my original W210 was disappointing. After spending 10 minutes telling me my car was a fake, including the parts, the service records, and even the original window sticker, I left feeling like they no clue what they were doing. And then 20 minutes later I get the call that they were in fact wrong and everything on my car was real and original. I've several cars, and I spend and expect the best treatment for all of them regardless of age and pedigree.
