    Bingo & espresso martinis
    Victoria N.

Came here for Thursday bingo night and $4 espresso martinis! The ambiance is super lively and fun with lots of seating available. It does get pretty busy on Thursdays though, so seats and parking do fill up pretty quickly.

Wicklow is that little house tucked away off all the walkable bars and restaurants in the Heights like Bungalow, Cedar Creek, Drift, McIntyre's, etc. The parking is small, but there's a gravel lot across the street and parking next door at Cedar Creek. There's a small food truck outside for food options. Everything is QR code to order food. I've been here with friends, birthdays, and recently suggested this bar to one of my co-managers retiring who was looking for a chill HH place after her last day of work. She loved it, as well as the other managers and employees. We went on a Wednesday, which is their steak night for $25. You can't order anything else off the menu on that day. I had the ribeye with Brussels sprouts and Cajun potatoes. It had to have been a 12 oz ribeye, which I share half with another manager. I just wish they gave more sides proportionate to the meat. It was perfectly cooked medium, and the char from the grill was nice. You could tell it was topped with butter. A few of them saw what I ordered, and they were enticed to order one, too. Lol. I tend to lean towards gin drinks, and I like their Summer Fling cocktail and G+T which comes in what seems like a mini fish bowl glass. Two and a half of those will get me. Haha. I've also ordered green tea shots for a friend's birthday. I tried a rum drink for the first time. It was a specialty cocktail called Nice Melons which was created by one of the bartenders, and he happened to be there to make it for me. I quite enjoyed the pineapple and tropical flavors. It reminded me of rum punch I had in Turks and Caicos. They also have wine and mocktails which a few co-workers ordered. There's plenty of seating here. You can sit in the A/C at booths inside or stand at the standing tables. There are picnic tables and outdoor booth seating with fans blowing at the patio areas along the front, side, and back. My favorite is the multicolored heart wall that's inconspicuous from the outside. The only thing missing are swings. I won't hesitate to come back here for a drink or steak night. You shouldn't either.

I have been to Wicklow Heights a handful of times over the past year. They offer fancy cocktails in a laid back setting. They have a small indoor area and a huge outdoor area with couches and benches. The patio is great when the weather is nice, though they have fans and heaters depending on the season. The patio has a huge screen which is great for catching a game. At night, they turn the music up inside so it can be hard to have a conversation. The menu has a lot to offer. The bartenders are very friendly and make great drinks. I'm a fan of the variations on the classic G&T. On my last visit, I had an espresso martini and it was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised at how good they made it. I have yet to order a drink that I did not like. They have a small parking lot out front. There's also street parking. Given that it's near a few bars, parking can be difficult during peak times. Wicklow Heights is great for a stop on a bar crawl or for a chill afternoon with friends.

One of my tops in the area for sure. It's a great spot to hunker down at a table with friends and enjoy some drinks instead of fighting people at the bar to get noticed. You can order a drink at the bar or find a seat where wait staff will find you. They use QR codes at the table (and there are even some random specials on there!). If you want to take on the rest of the bars on the street, they're easy to get to as well.

Wicklow Heights is always a good time. I loved the Old Fashioned made with William Price Cask Strength. Love seeing great whiskey behind the bar!

Fun bar! We mostly come here for bingo so service can be slow. Haven't tried the food but nothing beats the $4 espresso martinis!

I came here on a Saturday early evening. This is a bar hoping area for sure, where essentially you could park/ride share here, and walk up and down 19th, bar to bar. It was Kentucky Derby weekend. We sat on the patio out back. The inside of bar is cute too. Nice large screen TV to enjoy a game. It started out with a small crowd but grew larger, as it got later in the evening. My pals and I enjoyed this place. It was our first stop of the night. Drinks-I had the Oaxaca Flocka. I enjoyed all of fruit/veg in my drink. It became a snack after I sipped, lol. Cucumber, jalapeño, strawberries with the Tajin. I wish it was a larger size cocktail, but no complaints. My friends seemed to enjoy their cocktails as well. Parking is typical for heights, at your own risk.

Great cocktail bar with one of the best patios in Houston! Went by on Thursday and they had $4 espresso martinis and $2 tiny tinis, free bingo and a food truck on site with awesome smash burgers. Will definitely be back again

Really enjoyed coming here for happy hour! They have $8 cocktails until 6pm on weekdays which worked out well for my friend and I! We received great service - it was a quiet afternoon and we had plenty of great seating to choose from. I got the Better Half and it was beautiful and tasty - not too sweet and had a great floral flavor from the lavender bitters. They are currently renovating their bathroom area but what's nice is that you could pop across the way to use the other bar's bathroom if you didn't want to use the portable toilet. Definitely enjoyed this place a ton. Give them some love and try their tasty drinks!

Wonderful bar with a unique list of craft cocktails. The espresso martini is very good. They do a free bingo on Thursday nights starting at 7. Great give away prizes and the espresso martini's are on special for $4. They have a nice onsite food truck. Inside seating is somewhat limited, but they have a large patio with plenty of tables. Parking lot is pretty small, but street parking is readily available. Staff is fantastic and always helpful. Avery is the best!

This is a hidden gem! Literally googled late night bars and this place popped up! Staff is friendly, available parking in the lot, heavy handed bartender and cool music! Definitely will be back

    The Gardeners Daughter

Found this spot and met up with my friend for some cocktails due to reopening. Located in the Heights neighborhood, it's got interesting cocktails/drinks, a large bright outside seating setting, and a taco truck out front. All things that make Houston pretty dope! Drinks are a bit pricy so choose wisely. I enjoyed the Oaxaca Flocka cocktail due to the taste of the strawberry which complements the lime/jalapeño combo garnish. The Gardeners daughter is ok but not one of my favorites: kinda plain with just vodka, syrup, lemon juice, and basil garnish. I wanted the When Doves Cry cocktail but they were out of the jalapeño infused tequila sadly. The outdoor seating is inviting and colorful with lots of chairs/tables and fans. Also a large screen tv for events which makes this a social gathering spot waiting to pop although that may wait due to COVID-19. For eats, they have the taco planet food truck out front and they'll bring the food to you which is cool. They have no menus so use your phone to browse and find what you want. Servers/bartenders are getting used to this new method so it may take a while before you can put in your drink order. Hopefully they'll figure it out. While there are so many other bars to visit, the outside seating and unique drink concoctions make this a must visit. Whether you decide to return is up to you.

When my friend made the reservation, she received an email encouraging customers to visit the tasting room before or after dinner. We showed up an hour early to visit the tasting room, however the host had no idea what we were talking about. Turns out they weren't doing tastings. Luckily, we didn't have to wait to be seated. We initially had a table that was not near a heat lamp, however an employee came over and let us know that we could switch to a table near the heat lamp which was appreciated because it was chilly. Our server was Laura. She was nice and funny. They had $25 flight specials. I went with the Sayanara Flight which had white wines. I really enjoyed them and they weren't too sweet. My friend had an NA wine which she enjoyed. We ordered the Truffle Fries and Meatballs. Both dishes were tasty. I enjoyed the aioli that came with the fries. They had discounted wines for purchase. Not all bottles were 50% off, however the gentleman that we spoke to went ahead and gave me a 50% discount on both the rosé and pinot grigio that I purchased which was so appreciated! It seems like there are quite a few businesses around town that are closing. I'm sad to see Mutiny go, but I'm glad my friend and I got to dine in on their final night.

I often pass by it going through a shortcut to I-45 and sometimes going home around the area. It's literally a 5-minute drive. I booked reservations Friday since I saw they opened up the 31st on Resy. It wasn't earlier in the week, but I knew it was the last day, and my friend and I really wanted to try. I'm glad we made reservations because they were at capacity (150 person capacity) and weren't taking any walk ins. We got there early cause Resy suggested checking out the Tasting Room before or after the reservation time. We got there about an hour earlier, and the host said he didn't know anything about that except that the Tasting Room area was used for events. Interesting. We were seated earlier on the patio on this freezing evening. At first, we were at a table that didn't have a heat lamp, but when one freed up, they were so nice to suggest that we move closer to the heat lamp since they saw us shivering. Lol. We were thankful for that. I wore fleece lined jeans and brought gloves and a beanie anyway having been in the below freezing winter in London. Laura was our server and was kind and funny. So was this other guy who checked in every now and then. He made light of their last day situation. The dining area is so beautiful inside. I love the limestone-looking interior and chandeliers. Reminds me of Fredericksburg or something. They had many large groups and a few small groups of friends or couples dining on this last day. Way to go out with a bang. A lot of the wines were selling out or already sold out around 7-8 pm. We tried the truffle fries and Sicilian meatballs with focaccia bread. I like the thick cut of the fries and the black garlic aioli. It reminded me of yuca fries. The Sicilian meatballs were a bit small, peppery and salty. I wish the marinara was a little more tart. The focaccia helped cut through the saltiness. I had 2 glasses of the NA Sauvignon blanc which was light and a little tart. They ran out of the NA red blend. My friend ordered Sayonara, one of their farewell flights which were aptly named for "goodbye". It was a great night on the patio but chilly. My friend purchased a rosé and a Pinot Grigio as part of their Last Sail wines. Actually, the Pinot Grigio wasn't part of the sale, and he was going to take off 20%, but he also made it 50% off. So nice!! I'm glad we got to try them on their last day. Bon voyage, Mutiny.

Our group had a couple of tables reserved and they had no problem having everyone pay on separate tabs. Service is offered both at the table and bar. Our waiter was attentive and had great recommendations for wine. When I was conflicted between two whites, he graciously brought me out both to taste and decide. I went with the Cacciabruco Malvasia/Trebbiano, which is a skin-contact white wine, so it had more of a reddish hue to it and almost looked like a rose in the dim lighting of the restaurant. The fig, prosciutto and other toppings complimented each other well. The flatbread dough itself was ok but could've benefited from a little more flavor such as some garlic, butter and herbs. I also would've liked it a bit thinner so I could taste less of the bread and more of those delicious toppings. Don't get me wrong it was good and I ate all of it but these are small suggestions I'd recommend to bring it to perfection. I could see parking and seating being tricky. One of our friends who arrived early got to switch us to a booth since we'd have a few plates to share for the four of us. My friend and I shared the NA red sangria. I liked that there was a NA option for that, and you can choose either red or white. We ordered a pitcher since we were sharing. It was delicious and refreshing. I think I had about 3 wine glasses of it. Our group shared the red fish à la plancha, patatas bravas, spinach frittata, olive oil pancakes and bacon-wrapped dates. Some of the dishes were bigger than others. Tapas is meant to be small plates, and they were, but it's a little overpriced. For example, the red fish was $15.50 for maybe 2 oz of fish. The stack of olive oil pancakes were small and thin for $8.50. If you're sharing, it's not that much food. I was going to order another personal stack of olive oil pancakes because that cinnamon butter was so good! I decided not to after I let all of what we ordered and drank settle for a bit after. The valdeon whipped blue cheese under the bacon-wrapped dates didn't taste very good and seemed grainy to me. It was my least favorite. The standouts for me were the olive oil pancakes, spinach frittata that was actually loaded with more veggies and bell peppers and the patatas bravas which was piled with potatoes topped with mayo that melted down and looked almost like melted cheese on top. It's a fun place for friends to gather or a cute date spot. You may or may not be hungry after depending what you order. There are larger plates/entrees like paella and branzino to share.

I've been coming here since 2021 and it's still my favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! My top favorite: The Wild Mushroom Chicken is out of this world with the king trumpet mushroom cream sauce. It's a very good portion as they give you (almost) half of a roasted chicken, topped with Parmesan gnocchi. Definitely worth sharing with the table! The Le Cochon or The Pig is a fun one as it's served in a big board with the options of eating your slow-cooked Berkshire pork with your steamed buns or lettuce wraps. The flavors are even more colorful when you add the toppings and in-house sauce that looks like it might be bbq sauce... but better because it's got a little bit of a bite to it! It's fresh, colorful and the pork is tenderrr! Last but not least, the 72 Hour Short Rib is a must try! The meat falls apart as soon as you touch it and sits on the best grits I've ever had, Plonk's Anson mills cheddar grits. The wine reduction compliments the dish and every bite makes you wish that the dish doesn't end. I highly recommend this restaurant for a date night, a casual night, a family night or just any night! They never disappoint and is truly a staple within the neighborhood.

I actually did not get to try anything here, and I do not plan to return…read more Before visiting, I specifically checked Google Maps because I had my dog with me. The listing for this exact location says "pets welcome," so I felt confident stopping by. However, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by two customers fawning over my dog. Before any staff member greeted me or even acknowledged me as a customer, someone from behind the far counter told me that dogs were not allowed inside. I mentioned that their Google listing says pets are welcome, and the response was that it applies to a different location. That would be fine if it were clear, but the listing I checked had this location's address directly underneath "pets welcome." That is confusing and misleading. What made it more frustrating was the lack of hospitality. There was no greeting, no attempt to clarify kindly, no "We're sorry for the confusion," and no effort to offer a solution like helping me quickly order to go. It felt dismissive. Clear and accurate information matters. If pets are not welcome at this location, the listing should reflect that. I drove out of my way based on that detail, and it ended up being a waste of time and gas. Because of that experience, I chose not to patronize the this location but may try another location one day.

It's a nice lowkey neighborhood spot with a bar and outdoor seating as well. The ambiance was chill and casual which I am all for. They are pet friendly as I got to see some fur babies come in which is always nice. We started with some glasses of Cabernet and told our waiter we were celebrating my birthday. The food didn't take long to come out and was so darn good. It was probably one of the best steak nights I've had in a while. We had the ribeyes, mash potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and French fries. The steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled to the perfect temperature to my liking. We are still talking about it, I can't wait to come back and try their chimichurri sauce. We ended with the strawberry and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cheese cake. They weren't too sweet and just the right amount of richness. If they aren't on your list for steak night I definitely recommend!

Parking: Tons of parking here surprisingly, both a paved lot and a pebble lot. We had a reservation for 3 at 7PM and were promptly seated at a booth after a small line of people. Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.
