Awful service. Even my boyfriend who's very laid-back, agreed. So, here was our experience: My boyfriend and I wanted to celebrate a very special occasion tonight. We booked reservations for 2 people for 6:30 p.m. The hostess was friendly and sat us pretty quickly. Our server Louis was very prompt at greeting us but right off the bat it was obvious he was only directing us to buy the most expensive items on the menu. We ordered drinks and an appetizer, both arrived fairly quickly. Then we ordered our meals... I ordered a sandwich but asked that the chef not put butter on the bread (I hate butter) and I also asked for a side of their warm dill potato salad. We waited a REALLY long time for our food, to the point where we looked at each other at one point and were like, "Is our food ever going to come?" Mind you, this was on a Tuesday night. Finally our food arrived and yep, butter on the bread and NO potato salad. Louis was darting all over the place and didn't stop to ask how our food was. I finally snagged him to tell him there was butter on my bread to which he snatched my plate and took off. It all happened so fast, I didn't get a chance to mention that there was no potato salad. More time passed, nothing. Louis passed our table at least 3 times, not once did he apologize that my boyfriend was now 3/4 through his dinner and mine was still not there. Nothing, no word about when it would arrive. After another 5-10 minutes, Louis walked by and I stopped him again and said, "I'm not sure where my sandwich is but please box it up." Dinner was ruined. He never once apologized, only came up with reasons why HE was so slammed.... they had more people than expected, were short-staffed, had a private party... he finally brought a box with the check, said he comped one of our drinks (he should've comped my dinner!) and off we went, realizing later that we never even received the warm potato salad for which I'd requested AND was up-charged. I was even hoping for a nice dessert but we were both so tired of waiting and the mood was lost, we didn't bother. This dinner was RUINED. I will never return to Wicked Sisters. I come here all the time with my family. Came into the bar recently and saw a new face. Not a fan. The bartender was super rude on Thursday 12/20 downstairs. Bar tender arguing with a little girl and couldnt even make me a proper manhatten. Who doesnt put a cherry in a manhatten? I dont know what his name was, but next time im in there and see him working the bar, im going to the next one. I love this place, but geez, could you find a ruder bartender? Wicked Sisters is now my go to when I want casual Hampden dining. The food whether it be dinner or brunch is just good to the last bite. We had dinner a few weeks ago and liked everything we ate from the yummy creamy hot squash soup to the salads and the burgers. We tried brunch on Sunday and we were not disappointed. There is something for everyone. We had eggs, omelettes, bacon, waffles, pancakes, coffee and good Stonemill marble bread and left totally stuffed and pleased with our choices. My omelette was egg ceptional. It was filled with spinach, tomatoes and wonderful mozzarella and was was perfectly cooked so that it was done on the inside and golden brown on the outside. The only item that was not tasty were the two very thin dry pancakes that cost $4. They can do better based on everything we have eaten so far. I told the hostess that the pancakes tasted like flat cakes and needed to be moister and fluffier. The place is small and the tables and chairs are really not meant for comfort. It would be nice if they replaced those black plastic chairs meant for little people and found something more comfortable. Everyone is so nice and pleasant that I overlook the seating discomfort and focus on the food. The prices are a bit high but this is part of an upscale restaurant group...Woodberry Kitchen. The valet parking is appreciated on Sundays because parking can be tough at times. Lastly the restroom is very clean and well stocked. read more

Had the insanity burger, it was delicious, and sat at the bar where the bar tenders were excellent hosts. However neither of those were the memorable experiences of the night. We literally watched a female server unravel tonight. Directly in front of us at the bar she spoke openly about how much she hated her job, how much she disliked some of her coworkers and how much she hated the customers (discussing how she wanted to throw water in their faces, how she overcharged them for drinks etc). She spoke several times of wanting to kill herself and in depth discussed the ways she would do it. We even learned how frequently she took birth control. It was wild. Food was great, bar was great, but unfortunately it was hard to enjoy the meal. read more

I took some of my staff here last evening for a little New Year's happy hour celebration. We get there at 4:45 and all the tables were empty, both upstairs and downstairs, except one. Literally about 35 empty tables. Not only would they not let us sit at ANY table to order our happy hour drinks AND food, which we made clear we would, they were quite snotty about not letting us do so. Yes, in fairness it is made clear on their website that happy hour is bar-only, but when there were clearly no available seats at the bar and virtually 100% open seating available elsewhere, it just was beyond unwelcoming (plus, we wanted to talk and have fun, not line up in an awkward row). All this was before 5pm. No one took the time to talk to us or explain either. We just stood there staring around an empty restaurant uncomfortable as hell. We ended up going elsewhere and spent a nice chunk of change too. Help me understand why a service industry staff would behave like they did and what their upside could possibly be?! read more

I am sad to write that this place did not live up to expectations, especially since I live in Hampden. First some positive things-they were very nice about getting us in when I called ahead on a Friday night. The decor and atmosphere of the place was lovely. I got the McCabe burger and was wishing that McCabes was still there. It was very greasy and I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The other items on the menu really didn't seem that interesting. We got two cocktails and both were weak and watery tasting. We were grateful that the waitress took the last one away and did not charge us. Though not sure why she said that she had to ask a manager first. If something is not good, not right, I don't think that it should be a problem to just apologize and take it away. The glass was still full. My husband took a small sip and then I did and immediately thought it was bad. The desserts were not interesting, maybe the wine ice cream, though at this point we were not feeling too adventurous. We settled on the berger cookie sundae after realizing that the salted caramel was not salted caramel ice cream and for some reason had popcorn in it?? The sundae came in a mason jar, which was incredibly hard to eat out of. Not sure what thought went in on that?? We took off the whipped cream and some ice cream from the top to put it on a plate so that we could get down to the berger cookies and small amount of chocolate syrup on the bottom. It was just awkward and not good. The vanilla ice cream was a little icey and nothing great. Also we ordered the last cocktail and ice cream at the same time and the cocktail did not arrive until the ice cream was half gone. It looked as though most of the items on the happy hour menu were just a dollar off. Not much of an incentive to get there early. No goodnight or have a nice night from the two hostesses when we left. So I want to like this place and give it another try, but not sure. I read other reviews by others that tried again and still had a bad experience. As others have stated, you're in Hampden and going out is a treat, so this place could and should do better. read more

Tonight we had our second meal at Wicked Sisters with another couple. On my first visit I had the McCabe burger, modeled after the former restaurant that shared this space. Tonight's visit confirmed this is a 4 our of 5 restaurant/tavern. They have a free lot (I didn't notice it a year earlier when we visited), but there was also ample street parking tonight as well. We were seated at an alcove on the far side of the restaurant, so conversation was easier than last years visit where we ate upstairs along side a very noisy bar. The 4 of us split an appetizer of roasted Brussels sprouts and a hummus plate. The sprouts were delicious, somewhat crispy with a light sauce. They were the better of the 2 appetizers - the hummus had little flavor, and the triangles of pita bread that were served with it was not crispy or warm, just soft right out of the package pita bread like you can buy at the supermarket. They did try to add some pizzazz to the plate by covering the hummus with cut vegetables, but they really didn't add anything to the dish. We also had 'the cocktail of the day", a concoction of ice tea vodka, lioncels liquor, and a dash of honey. It was delicious. For the main courses, my wife had the tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich. She enjoyed both. I had the crab cake with 2 sides. The crab cake was excellent, mostly crab and very little filling. Not sure what seasonings they used, but with a dash of Worcestershire sauce (I always add it to crab cakes to bring out the sweetness of the crab meat) it was one of the better crab cakes I've had this season. My sides were both potato - one was sautéed cut potatoes in a flavored oil, the other very good French fries with "wicked sisters sauce - it looked like thousand island dressing, but had a unique flavor that was addicting,. The other couple split a wedge salad and a fish dish. They enjoyed it, but thought the portion of the fish was small, especially for the price charged. All in all, it was a 4 star evening. I will go back, and next time maybe try something else, although I think my memory of the excellent crab cake may make me repeat my dinner. choice. read more

I've been to this place twice because I wanted to try something new and will never return. Both times, the customer service sucked!! The first time, our server wasn't very attentive but I gave her the benefit of the doubt as she may have been overwhelmed with the busy evening. The following week when I returned for a second time, my guest and I were greeted in a very aloof and cold manner as if we didn't belong. Our server, who was obviously in a hurry and had better things to do, had no time to explain to me the drink specials, food details, etc. He tone was very off-putting. He even rudely walked off when I was attempting to place an order after looking at his watch as if we were on his time. I literally sat there with my mouth open in disbelief as I watched him turn his back and attend to another patron. After the way we were treated, I didn't order anything as you guest and I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable. My guest paid for his beer, I've explained my issue with the manager and we left to go to another local establishment where we were treated with more dignity. Any place where the service is abrasive and just down right cold will not be getting my patronage. read more

The hostess was super friendly explained how busy it was and that it would be difficult to accommodate our extra guests right away because of how busy they were due to Hampden fest, but she made it work for us! We wanted to like this restaurant. We have been here twice. We loved the food at its predecessor (McCabe's had amazing juicy burgers). Unfortunately, it really is not good. The atmosphere gets an A. They have brightened up the location and added the second floor, but the food is just not good. The best dishes were the cheese board (nothing to cook there) and the butternut squash soup (although not a fan of the parsley on top). The next best thing was the crab mac and cheese but it was a little too salty and too rich. The chicken sandwich and burger were both dry. The muscles were way over salted to the point that it was burning the mouth from the salt. The Cesar salad was also over salted and over dressed. The brussel sprouts were too sweet and had no spice. We left with 3 of the 4 of us with upset stomachs. Maybe it will improve over time but it is not there yet. read more

However, I ordered the Crab Louis salad which was described on the menu as MD Lump Crab meat... and I wish I had taken a photo of the tragic salad that arrived to the table. First I thought that they had forgotten the crab meat altogether, but when I lifted up the half-avocado that was round side up in the center of wilted mixed greens, there was the unmistakeable smell of canned crab. About a half can's worth, about as much as would fit in the middle of a cored avocado. The salad was billed as $16 and I was charged $15, without any warning from the kitchen that I was getting a half portion of thin, flavorless canned crab. I honestly would have taken canned albacore tuna as that would have been far more substantial! However the wings we got were super. Overall, some menu items such as the Canned Crab Louis salad are way overpriced for what the kitchen delivered. read more

OMG!! The pork shank is to die for. The meat was cooked to utter perfection with a taste that was outstanding. It was very very tender but left a little bit of a kick in your mouth after you finished eating it that was just phenomenal. The mashed potatoes and carrots that came with it complemented the pork shank perfectly. We split some asparagus cooked to perfection and some cheese garlic toast that perfectly sopped up some of the juices left from the pork shank. I would recommend this meal highly!id read more

Went with a friend on a Friday night. We were seated quickly upstairs. I had the roasted veggies and brussel sprouts. Veggies were pretty good. Brussels were outstanding. The waiter forgot to ask if we wanted another drink. It became too much of a hassle to have one with dinner so after dinner we had a drink at the bar. Hanging at the bar was very enjoyable. We especially enjoyed talking to Danny the bartender. He was funny and made sure we were always happy with our drinks. If you eat here, make sure to look for Danny the bartender. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. Eating at Wicked Sisters this afternoon was the most awful and confusing experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was absolute horrible. The food was honestly rancid. I feel bad for the owners because the hostess was telling everyone that there was an hour and 45 to 2 hour wait. We made a reservation though open table 5 min before we got there and then thought it was odd that there was this long wait for tables. We checked open table again and saw that there were tables at all times. All while this was happening, we were waiting for our two person table yet the hostess though we were a party of 4. When she finally realized it was just us two standing in front of her, she ended up seating us at a table that had been open and clean from the start. We sat down and ordered sodas. All of our soda was flat. Then We ordered a spicy mussels, a turkey burger, and a crab cake sandwich. The food was cold and unflavored. My crab cake bun was burnt and dry and chipped into pieces on my plate. My side salad was drenched in Caesar dressing and was warm. Felt like it was sitting under the hot lamp on the line for awhile. (Surprised they have one since the rest of the food was cold!!). The man who brought us our food looks like he came from the kitchen as a cook and was dressed in black jeans that had food handprints all over. In addition the server was cleaning a table next to us and squirting disinfectant on our hands-and most definitely got on our food. My fiancé and I have been working in and around the food/hospitality Industry for a while and we understand that when it's busy sometimes things happen and and and we've all been in those types of situations. But this was absolutely ridiculous because there was no one in the restaurant and there were at least 7 empty tables with more finishing up during the time we were sitting. All in all this was honestly the worst experience I've ever had and in the words of Jon Taffer "shut it down". read more

The food quality and flavor was consistently good across all five meals that we ordered, and the grapefruit juice was freshly squeezed. I recommend the waffle sandwich and cheesy grits. Visiting from out of town, we had a few recommendations in the Hampden area but they were closed on Mondays so we checked yelp for a good dinner & drink option and came across Wicked Sisters. Wasn't disappointed at all. In fact, this place has been the highlight of our trip so far. We ordered the mussels and Brussels sprouts to share as an appetizer. Both plates were unique and delicious. We split the crab cake sandwich as our main plate and it was also absolutely delicious. The bar area is clean, looks modern and nice. The place itself has a welcoming layout. Eric, our bartender, was amazing and deserves 100% of the credit for our great experience. We couldn't decide between a few beers and each time we even thought about an option, he was more than happy to get us a little taste so we could decide for ourselves. I had two beers that were absolutely delicious thanks to Eric allowing us to try them out before purchasing them on tap. Another cool aspect of our visit was that my husband saw Eric playing around with some ingredients. We asked him about it and he mentioned that himself and the Chef were collaborating on a seasonal cocktail and allowed us to try his experiment. Off the first try, it was one of the most delicious gin cocktails I've ever had. We recommended to add an herb, like basil, in which Eric thought would be cool, and mixed it in. It turned out to be a really unique cocktail and it was a blast to collaborate back and forth with him while hanging out at the bar. Eric is the type of guy that makes an experience or visit unforgettable and we can't thank him enough for providing us such a fun first night in town filled with good conversation and even better drinks. If we return, we will definitely be making a trip back to visit Eric and Wicked Sisters. read more

My friends and I had a great time at Wicked Sisters Tavern this past Saturday. Not only was the flank steak some of the best I've ever eaten, I really enjoyed sitting out on the patio. The place has a lot of charm. The wait staff is very attentive and working hard to make their customers happy. For example, I really enjoyed the Malbec I had with dinner and asked the waitress for the name of it. She not only wrote down the name of the wine, but brought us the rest of the bottle in a to-go bag. That pretty much guarantees that my friends and I will return. Went here tonight for dinner and was excited to try it based on previous reviews. Unfortunately I was disappointed and most likely won't be back. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is attentive but the food was lacking. I ordered the pork chop which came out quickly but undercooked and then when it came back out it was just kinda heaped on the plate like they were disgusted they had to cook it again. The rabini was bitter and the pork chop overall didn't taste great. Not worth $23, sorry. I had high hopes for this place and hopefully they can make some improvements. read more

The rock fish was perfect, crab cakes great with very generous portions, crab Mac & cheese awesome along with the sweet & spicy brussel sprouts - my favorite! My husband & our daughter had the insanity burger & said it was the best burger they ever had! The Banana Creme Smith Island Cake was simply yummy & very favorable. Went for my anniversary on New Years Day. While I've enjoyed my visits in the past, this time was a disappointment. The service was extremely slow, as it took our server 10-15 minutes to come to our table to take our order. She seemed to pay a lot of attention to every other guest, chatting and laughing while we're sitting next to them with closed menus and empty water glasses. We had to flag her down multiple times to get any service. We guess it's because we're young (the others were all older), but that's not fair at all. Then, when the Brussels sprouts came they were soggier than usual. One of the ovens was broken, causing our food to take almost 30 minutes to come out. I understand it happens, but our server did not seem concerned and only told us after we waited for a long time for our food. I will still come back knowing that this time was probably different because it was New Years Day and the staff was tired, but I had definitely expected better. read more
