I stopped and checked out their menu and it looked good, so I decided to try their "Portobello Mushroom and Goat Cheese Burger"....it was very good! Wow! Simple yet oh so delicious! I like that the portobello mushroom is the size of the bun so it's mushroom in every bite. Goat cheese pairs well with it and made it real tasty. Not dry, nicely and lightly seasoned just right. Comes with fries or a salad, so fries was the obvious choice. Level up your fries.....GET THE KOREAN STYLE KETCHUP for dipping, it was real good! Smoky, spicy, and it was the business! Fries are not overly salted so I appreciate that. Staff working there was real nice, worked hard to fix up your order, only took them like 5 mins or so, line wasn't too long so that may have been why. OMG Pork Belly Banh Mi, where have you been all my life? I stumbled upon this food truck at Obec Brewing during the recent WA Brewery Open House Saturday, and (as usual) found my tummy rumbling. I often shy away from pork belly, as it seems many places don't cook it to my liking. It's either too chewy, or not well seasoned. But I asked the dude at the Wich Wagon counter which sandwich I should choose, and he suggested the PB Banh Mi and I couldn't say no. People, this sandwich was phenomenal! The pork was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. Served with all the goodness of fresh/pickled vegetables on a perfect French bun, it was all things banh mi should be. Without a doubt, one of the highlights of our bachelor party trip to Seattle was having Chef Patrick Frank of Cochon Catering prepare a personalized five-course dinner for us at our Airbnb rental house in Ballard. Our friend Kevin, who organized the trip, learned about Chef Patrick through one of his connections in Seattle. He arranged to have Chef Patrick cook us a meal at home on the final night of our multi-day visit. It was a fantastic end to our stay. Chef Patrick is a personal chef who has been cooking for almost his entire life. He worked at various restaurants throughout his career before starting his own business, Cochon Catering. Cochon is French for pig. He prepares private, personalized meals for parties big and small. He'll do one-time gigs like the dinner he prepared for us. He'll also go to your house and prepare a week's worth of meals for you if you want. I think that's pretty awesome. Chef Patrick goes out and buys all the groceries, brings all the necessary plating, and brings everything to your house to cook, serve, and clean. You don't have to do anything except sit back and enjoy the meal. Your kitchen becomes his kitchen. We booked Chef Patrick on a Saturday night at 6pm. He arrived on-time with his Sous Chef Rachael. They brought in a few bags and boxes worth of ingredients, kitchenware, and plating to feed our group of 10. They scoped out our kitchen and went to work immediately. This was my first-ever personal (paid) chef experience, so I was excited to see these guys in action. The chefs let me watch them up-close and Chef Patrick even offered to teach us how to cook while he was prepping and cooking. I think it's fascinating how these guys can prepare such high quality gourmet meals from a regular residential kitchen. I thought they'd have to be in a restaurant quality kitchen to pull off some of these dishes. Chef Patrick worked with Kevin on the menu. Chef Patrick's menus are inspired by his guests' tastes and ideas. Here's what we had: First Course: * Creamy grits with braised beef short ribs and fire-roasted tomato gravy (non-dairy) Second Course: * Fried chicken with crispy slaw Third Course: * Mint julep fruit salad Fourth Course: * Blackened snapper with andoullie and potato hash with fried green tomato garnish Fifth Course: * Roasted apple and peach with granola crumble and whipped cream The meal was absolutely delicious and the experience was simply outstanding. Everything was made from scratch. I watched as Sous Chef Rachael cut all the fruit and vegetables. I watched Chef Patrick batter and fry the chicken. Yes, he fried 10 large pieces of chicken in our little kitchen (and that was just part of one course). I watched him season the fresh red snapper he had just purchased from Pike Place Market (now that's local). It was fun watching Patrick and Rachael plate each course. I told Rachael food is art and she agreed. I commented to everyone before the first course was served that watching and interacting with the chefs was like sitting at the chef's counter at a fancy restaurant. Of course, it was way better than that. Our group as a whole had plenty of great conversation with Chef Patrick throughout the evening. As Patrick and Rachael served each course, Patrick described each dish in detail, from the sourcing of ingredients to the preparation process. We had *a lot* of food. The grits were hot, soft, and creamy and the beef short ribs were tender and juicy. I particularly liked the fried chicken because it was crispy, but not too greasy. It was also very meaty. The shredded slaw was fresh and crunchy. The mint julep fruit salad was terrific. Light, healthy, and refreshing. Me and another person in the party didn't drink, so Chef Patrick made two special non-alcoholic versions of the fruit salad for us. The blackened snapper was excellent. It was deboned and, like the chicken, meaty. I thought the bits of andouille sausage and slice of fried green tomato were a nice touch. The dessert was simple yet amazing. The apple and peach were sweet, ripe, and nicely spiced. One of the guys in our group is lactose intolerant, so Chef Patrick made sure to serve his whipped cream on the side. Dishes were taken away and cleaned after each course. By the time dessert was over, just about all the dishes had been cleaned and the kitchen was spotless. Both the food and service were top-notch. These guys are efficient and on top of their game. Chef Patrick's experience really shone through. I believe the total bill for our party came out to roughly $600-700 including groceries, labor, tax, gratuity, etc. Drinks were not included. For a private seated dinner for 10 with fantastic personalized food and service, I thought that was very reasonable. If you are looking for a good personal chef in the Seattle area, I cannot recommend Chef Patrick and Cochon Catering enough. read more

TL;dr: fries and pork belly bahn mi are incredibly delicious. First, I had their fries because someone else at the brewery where they were parked brought in a big serving to share. It was so good, I went out to order something. At first glance, I though the Bahn Mi looked slightly small, but then I realized it was only in comparison to the ginormous amount of fries that came with it! During that time, he has made us weekly meals, helped us host dinner parties at our house (10-20 people), and even catered our wedding (100 people). During our wedding, the power went out for an hour and he and his amazing crew continued to cook in the dark without any interruption to the scheduled reception service! Patrick will provide you a menu that you can customize to your personal preferences and/or dietary restrictions. After settling on the menu, he does the grocery shopping, cooks it at your home or venue, and cleans up after he's all done. Cochon Catering was one of the best pieces to our wedding day! I wasn't sure they would do a heavy appetizer wedding reception for 200 people (the reviews I read were for smaller group numbers). I am so glad they had our date open and were willing to be our caterer. First of all, I have never met a more accommodating, patient, and thoughtful wedding vendor EVER. From the first conversation with Patrick, to my moments of panic, through the morning after when he graciously also catered a breakfast for out of town guests, we had THE BEST experience. We so appreciated his attention to detail in the menu items. The presentation was lovely. There was never a moment when a particular appetizer was "out." There were vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters in the crowd and everyone was taken care of. The "morning after" breakfast (for about 40 people) was spectacular. Our guests watched as the Cochon crew freshly scrambled the eggs, fried the hash-browns, and baked the bacon right in front of them. Maybe I just got the wrong thing, but asked the woman working there what her favorite sandwich was and that was the recommendation. In any event, it should be illegal to call that a Cuban sandwich. Patrick came to our office, and gave us an on-premise food option (not something we normally have). The roast beef panini was insane. I was talking with Patrick as he was making my sandwich. The carmelized onions were cooked over the course of several hours with thyme (i think, maybe it was another herb), and towards the end he added some balsamic vinger. They were delicious, and kind of just wanted to a big bowl of those. The roast beef had about an 1/8th of an inch of browned edge, and the rest was perfectly pink. Everything was very tender. The horseradish potato salad had nice big chunks of red potatoes. The dressing had a nice little kick from the horseradish, and some good flavor from the chives. And to top it all off, Chocolate Chip Cookies that were amazing. I tried a bite of a coworkers mocha-dipped cookie. Both are definitely worth the calories. Thank you Patrick! My wife and I had a big wedding last August, but we recently made it legal (yeah, Washington!) and threw a party to celebrate in our home. I was so excited for Cochon to cater it! Patrick offered such an array of yummy-sounding choices, it was difficult to pick which appetizers we wanted, but we finally settled on a few that included a roasted beet and quinoa salad served on a Chinese spoon, goat cheese and roasted mushroom phyllo cups, and a smoked salmon on rye with creme freshe and chives. My standout fave was a perfectly seasoned, pleasantly tangy artichoke and spinach salad served on crostini - YUM! I used Cochon's services recently to cater a friend's baby shower! I wanted to do a Halloween/Pumpkin theme since Halloween is the mom's favorite holiday but I wasn't sure how to pull off the food. Once I told Patrick my idea for the theme, his eyes lit up with excitement and you could tell the creativity was flowing. He put together such a fun menu: Black Bean & Roasted Pumpkin salad served in tortilla chips, Pumpkin soup in mini pumpkins, crispy pumpkin cakes w/ smoked salmon and creme fraiche, Roasted Red pepper hummus w/ toasted pita & a Quinoa salad w/ roasted beets, sweet potatoes, dried cranberries, almonds and candied pears. It was delish! You can tell that Patrick puts a lot of time and love into his cooking. He came over and did all of the set-up for me. He even brought his own plates so that I didn't have to worry about a thing! His enthusiasm is contagious--I was so excited to showcase the food at the shower and it was a huge success. Patrick is amazing. I've hired him for two different jobs. The first was for a New Years Eve party with 5 couples. He came in advance of the party and prepped everything so that all we had to do was heat a few things up and plate it. Everything he made was absolutely delicious. We all split the cost and it ended up being more affordable than a fancy meal out on the town. The second time Patrick helped me out was when my gluten-free-eating mother-in-law was staying with us for 3 weeks. I emailed Patrick, he came up with a great menu of 8 gluten-free entrees that I could freeze and reheat as needed. My in-laws are from South America, and he even did some research to see what food is like in their home country and recommended dishes that he thought they would like. He did all of the grocery shopping, prepped everything at my house, cleaned the kitchen and had everything he cooked stored away in pyrex dishes and tupperware. He left me very helpful, detailed notes about how to reheat and serve each dish. My husband, my in-laws, even my children loved his food. He was a life-saver!! Best of all, Patrick is a really nice guy. He listened to my needs and was flexible and creative about meeting them. I also appreciate that he is cost-conscious about his menu choices, making scrumptious and healthy meals without super expensive ingredients. One of my new favorite food trucks. I am low-carb so I had a bacon double cheeseburger lettuce wrap. The sauces they have went so well with it. The last cater I used was Chef Jason Wilson who now owns Crush (love) and Cochon Catering was another amazing experience. Wish I could afford to do this more often! I had never had a party catered before, so didn't know what I was getting into. From my first query, Patrick was easy to work with and answered e-mails promptly. His proposed menu (Italian) was creative and delicious. I saw my guests look up from each of his amazing courses with "Whoa!!" on their faces. Plus, he is so personable and competent and reassuring, which is exactly what you need when throwing a party! Besides whisking everything away at the end of the evening (thank God there were some leftovers in the frig - YUM!), his price was totally reasonable and within his first estimate. We hired Patrick for a birthday party for a dear friend. He was such a breeze to work with and gave us an amazing evening. We asked for a series of appetizers that focused on local, seasonal, and special ingredients.
