I've passed by here many times and many of those times I was hungry. I would've gone to Loxicha but they only take cash which is my main issue. I rarely carry cash, but I'd built up a bunch of singles over time and figured I'd do lunch. I decided I'd go with a staple favorite - Mole chicken enchiladas. After about a 10-minute wait with a couple of others also waiting, I took food to go even though there are tables to enjoy your food at if you wish. The mole sauce was actually pretty decent, but something about the chicken was just kinda eh. As another reviewer mentioned it seems like a it might be slightly old or something and even the sauce couldn't hide it. The rice and beans were fine. As mentioned Loxicha is fine as you simply walk up and can likely get your food fast if you're on the move but TNT Taqueria is right around the corner, with better food for about the same price, more options and isn't restricted to cash only making it the better choice.

But if you can get a solid meal for $12, it's a good deal! I tried the taco specials often. I like Al pastor and carnitas. The Al pastor comes with pineapple which is pretty rare. They do have regular burritos and other plate combos but I haven't had a chance to try all of them yet. Orders usually take from 10 to 20 minutes. The service has been quick and polite. I like how the truck setup reminds me of truck food scene in LA and definitely has all the marks of legit taco spot. Cash only. This is to be expected in authentic taco trucks. So...bring cash. Don't be lame.

I ordered two sides and a rice bowl with carne asada with a Korean twist, and after tip it was $35 and change. I'm so pleased with the easy ordering at Project 9 Brewing. They have tablets to order from, QR codes, and of course you can order straight from the food truck. I really liked how the tablets also offered common modifications, so the egg on mine was easy to order fully cooked through. I didn't love how buttery the caramelized kimchi was. It completely takes away from the flavor, so all I really could taste was butter. Kimchi aside, there are so many generous toppings and it really compliments the salty meat and seasoned rice. They also have a big condiment tray so you can even top your food with extra pickled veggies, sauces, and the like. My kids devoured the rice. Their packaging is fully compostable or recyclable. Wonderful addition to a fun, family friendly brewery!

Toss in some kimchi, rice, and cheese and you got yourself a fantastic meal. I was blown away by the sauce bar. They have your classic green and red salsas, but then they have an ultra spicy mayo sauce that is meant to be smothered on a burrito. The pickled cabbage is a must-add to your meal, and there are also these tiny little diced up caramelized onions that are PACKED with flavor. And they're giving those thangs out FOR FREE! I feel like I could create an entree just with items from the sauce bar. The symbiotic relationship between food truck and brewery has to be an ideal pairing, otherwise it just won't work. Mexican Seoul and Project Nine are meant for each other. But I wouldn't be surprised if this little food truck emerges from its cocoon to become a full fledged butterfly eventually. More people need to know about this gem.

Their special of the day allows one to order 2 seafood rolls, edamame, seaweed salad and miso soup for under $11. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. I went with a salmon roll and a scallop roll. The man running the truck was pleasant and made my food in a timely manner. Personally, I thought the food was just ok. The rice seasoning in both rolls was pretty much non-existent, which didn't help with the blandness of the scallop. The seaweed salad was alright, as well as the soup and edamame but those are pretty hard to mess up (to me at least). I think this place has a lot of opportunities to improve on, especially their menu. It would be awesome if they did offer nigiri and sashimi instead of just rolls. I probably will give this another try in the future, since the presence of sushi restaurants isn't strong in the neighborhood.

Which these guys certainly did. I got the combo with a salmon roll and this was a great combo for $11 and it was fast. The salmon roll was freshly made and the rice was great. I like to get salmon rolls because the quality is usually pretty good in Seattle and this wasn't an exception. They have a nice special sushi sauce which was great. Overall a great lunch option!

By the end I couldn't even eat them with my hands because they were so overloaded with meat. Truly worth the price. But this place was not good. I ordered 1 veggie taco and 1 veggie tamale. My partner ordered a chicken burrito. We also got a side order of chips & churros. The veggies in the taco were super soggy and bland. The corn tortillas were soggy, floppy, and seemed hardly cooked. The pico de gallo did not have good flavor. The tamale was wrapped in a banana leaf, and the tamale itself was also soggy and bland. It had a weird "vegetable soup" taste and was frankly inedible. My partner said the burrito was fine but not something he enjoyed or would crave. The churros were dry, stale, and also inedible. The chips were fine, but we only liked 1 of the 4 salsas we tried. Service was friendly, but we paid almost $40 for mostly inedible food.

Updated review from 2 Months ago…read more.. I've been back roughly 6 times from my previous review of Kona Kitchen. Then it was too many staff, not many customers and it was difficult to get service, that has been improved upon. They are nice and attentive when they see you. Service was normal, the wait staff came around and offered more beverage. This time it was still slow period, so what gives it only 3 stars instead of more? It's the fact that the main door the employee use to go into the kitchen to give their orders to the cooks had cob webs on the top of the door.i mean everyone of them walk through that door hundreds of times throughout the week because I could tell it's been there for some time. Where's the food inspector, should be a concern because if it's there in full view of customers and employees, what else is happening as far as cleanliness at Kona Kitchen. I will be there within two or three days and wonder if the cobweb will still be a fixture there... it's something that is annoying because nobody's done anything about it. Amazing.
