Greenwood barely has options for sushi in the neighborhood so it was nice to see Box Nature Sushi parked in my neighborhood. Their special of the day allows one to order 2 seafood rolls, edamame, seaweed salad and miso soup for under $11. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. I went with a salmon roll and a scallop roll. The man running the truck was pleasant and made my food in a timely manner. Personally, I thought the food was just ok. The rice seasoning in both rolls was pretty much non-existent, which didn't help with the blandness of the scallop. The seaweed salad was alright, as well as the soup and edamame but those are pretty hard to mess up (to me at least). I think this place has a lot of opportunities to improve on, especially their menu. It would be awesome if they did offer nigiri and sashimi instead of just rolls. I probably will give this another try in the future, since the presence of sushi restaurants isn't strong in the neighborhood. read more

As Katy says they r in SLU so so convenient for those of use who live there. There are lots of choices in the area but for me this is the top choice because I just love udon as long as it is al dente and not too salty. Which these guys certainly did. I got the combo with a salmon roll and this was a great combo for $11 and it was fast. The salmon roll was freshly made and the rice was great. I like to get salmon rolls because the quality is usually pretty good in Seattle and this wasn't an exception. They have a nice special sushi sauce which was great. Fast, fresh, and delicious. At less than $5 a roll, Box Nature's pretty darn good for for the price. I highly recommend the BN Spicy roll. They offer a choice of white or brown rice, and though I've only tried the former, it has always been soft, sticky, and just the right temperature. The rolls are a bit on the small side, but they always give you a decent portion of meat per roll. The service is fast and friendly, and they provide extra soy sauce and Sriracha. read more

For the price (4.25 for a 5-piece seafood roll) the food was pretty good. Food trucks are notoriously yummy, though, and I don't know if this one is quite yummy-grade. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, California shrimp roll, and yuzu pie (frozen citrus cream pie.) Both rolls fell apart easily - the center popped out as soon as it was lifted slightly. The packaging also had a strong seaweedy smell although it didn't seem to come from my rolls. (?) The spicy tuna ended up being not the freshest stuff, but the California shrimp roll was ok. Heaven bless the yuzu pie. I could eat ten of those for breakfast. read more

This is pretty awesome, actually - sushi from a truck! I had a BN's Spicy roll, a spicy vegetable roll, and a miso soup. The miso had little bits of sweet potato in it, along with the more-standard tofu, wakame, and green onion. That was a nice touch. The two sushi rolls were a good size (larger than I could finish, for the two) - 5 pieces for the fish roll and I think 6 pieces for the veggie roll. The ends were a little sloppy and fell apart easily, but the other pieces stuck together and had a nice shape, texture, and taste to them. The only odd note for me was their not-soy-sauce, that they call their sushi sauce. It's a thickened soy sauce that is lower in salt than regular soy, and I just missed my soy sauce! The sushi sauce seemed to be less flavorful. I also tried a bite of my friend's sunomono, which had cucumber and kale - it was nice, with a bright flavor and tasty veggies, but not really cold-weather appropriate. read more

Just got sushi from BoxNature in Greenwood at 84th. Good quality and fresh taste. The selection is limited but you can get your sushi fix for sure. A good value as the rolls are decent size and they have brown rice if you prefer a healthier option. I just got three rolls so I have not tried the whole menu but I will be back to try some more. This place is good if you just want some grab and go food that is fresh. The owner is always selling and works a lot so he moves through fish and stuff stays fresh. Its funny how people are concerned about Sushi from a Truck, I'm a firm believer in modern technology commonly referred to as refrigeration! Regardless, Nice people, pretty fast service, surprisingly no line unlike what many have reported (outside of City Target by Pike Place Market). The Sushi was great, the home made low salt soy sauce actually burned my throat a little making me ponder how low salt it really is, besides that it is thick and tasty like other reviewers have pointed out. BoxNature's made it a habit to show up in SLU during lunch, and one of my coworkers and I headed over the other rainy day to pick up some sushi. It was so good! I had the salmon and albacore rolls with multigrain rice, and it was delicious. The soy sauce was interesting because it was thicker than I'm used to? But that could be that I'm just used to cheap soy sauce. (I have no idea. I'm super white.) I'll definitely be picking up lunch from BoxNature more often. First food truck that has food truck prices! I liked that the rice was warm, sticky, and tenderly fell apart. Ingredients were flavorful but not overpowering. The texture was gentle and you could taste every ingredient. Some corrections to other reviews and info. They now take credit/debit through the Square app. Their schedule is also posted and accurate. I don't understand all the Haterade directed at this place. I ordered the leafy roll and the spicy tuna, and both were good, if a little sloppily assembled. I like that they use nonfarmed fish; the tuna was clearly very fresh, and the flavors blended nicely. The abundance of vegan/vegetarian roll options is great, too, and I could happily have filled up on that area of the menu. The thick soy sauce was unusual but tasted great. Service was polite and serious - not particularly friendly, but not rude, either. It's a quick, healthy lunch that's conveniently located on the way to and from other things. I'll be back. read more

Why does this place only have 1 (and now 2) reviews! There's always a line outside for it in SLU. Every time I saw this truck in SLU, I swore I would never eat sushi out of a food truck but there I was, at the Vlogger Fair, and this was there so I gave it a shot. I'm glad I did. This place does hand rolls only. They don't have a lot of options: there's about 4 types of vegetarian ones and then 4 seafood: salmon, smoked salmon, tuna and shrimp. Kind of boring but honestly, its probably for the best considering its...a truck. The wait can be a while because they make it to order but its better this way. I had the salmon hand roll and the tuna handroll. They sell a combo so I combined it with the spicy tofu salad and a drink for about $11. Everything tasted fresh which is, of course, my top concern. The tofu salad was tasty. I don't recall getting any wasabi so it was just soy sauce with my handroll. Sad. I'm giving this food truck 3 stars because the food was fresh, healthy and the combo was filling. At the same time, it was very basic sushi and not super exciting but really, how much can they do in a truck? Was I right about not eating sushi out of a truck? Not exactly. I didn't get food poisoning or anything but it sure isn't as exciting or have as many varieties as an actual restaurant. read more

My coworkers and I all love this truck. There are a lot of options for sushi lunch downtown, but we make a point of hitting up Box Nature with some frequency. I love that their seafood is all sustainable, and their vegetarian options provide welcome variety and great taste. Their salads are really nice as well. They do take credit cards and I've found it very easy to keep track of which days they'll be downtown, based on their website. The prices are very reasonable as well. Finally, unlike some commenters, I think the special thickened soy sauce is great - like the sign says, less likely to splash on your shirt. read more

This truck parks in SLU a few days a week across the street from my work so I've been meaning to try them for a while - today I finally did and was not impressed. They were fast and friendly but the food was less than mediocre - sushi rolls with the teeny tiniest pieces of fish (really stingy portions of fish), way too much rice, and weird soy sauce - almost sweet tasting - icky. I do not think I will go back even though they are so close. They get 2 stars only because they were friendly and the food at least seemed fresh enough even if flavor and protein portions were severely lacking. read more

Was very surprised to find this truck parked at Second and Pike last night next to one of the Japanese hot dog trucks. I don't eat hot dogs so this was a very welcome addition. The rolls were good and fresh and reasonably priced. I loved the thicker soy sauce. Most importantly they had two flavours of the superb Japanese soda Ramune. Welcome to the neighborhood! read more
