WHYTE PLUMBING Panic set in. It was 9 pm, and i had a flood in the kitchen cause the washing machine was not draining and i had no hot water, or any water coming out of the pipes. My brother, a businessman, who also is a licensed contractor who lives 700 miles away, offered to call a friend of his. David Whyte. Whyte Plumbing remodeled and changed my house pipes in my last home. He took the bathroom from 1957 to 2010. So my brother called him, and Whyte Plumbing, who is a professional witness and Plummer for various lawsuits and buildings that are owned by the city, state, and federal government. I recently had paid another Plummer that was recommended by my washing machine repair three times to fix the washing machine drain. Each time the bozo, told me it was 24 hrs after the Warranty. No receipts were ever given to me. Whyte Plumbing was different. He did not use a plunger, to fix the issue. No David and his assistant Plummer, brought in an electrical large item and cleaned the pipes from outside. I felt the entire house shake while it was cleaning out the clogs. The day before David and his assistant Plummer updated and repaired the continuous water heater. I was not aware that it needed to be cleaned out and the filter had to be changed every year. Both of these large repair jobs were not inexpensive, but they were done properly.. The two Plummers worked during two of the worse thunderstorms that we had that week. Since they were mostly outside, i was not aware of how bad it was until they knocked on the door for payment. Would i use them again?? Yes, remodelled a bathroom and changed the drain pipes in one one. Then cleaned out the drains and updated and fixed the continuous hot water supplier. Now i have other major jobs. Change out one of the toilets to make it taller, etc. Whyte Plumbing charges for the initial calls but many issues are fixed under the same cost umbrella. Which makes it done quicker. Really good plumber and a straight shooter. I hired Dave to add some pressure regulators, a pressure relief valve, and descale our tankless. When he came over for the original quote he was great about explaining everything so that it was easy to understand. He followed up with a quote and we hired him for the job. I have only the highest praise for David Whyte. With his over 40 years of experience, you know right away you're in excellent hands. He is so knowledgeable; with the added feature that he's just plain fun to be with. He installed a Takagi tankless water heater at my house years ago and has been servicing it yearly ever since. Sometimes you just get the feeling that someone is doing the least they can to finish a job just to move on to the next. David is the complete opposite. He is so thorough in his work and so attentive to details. He always go over and above what one would expect. As an example, I had a Kohler bathroom faucet that was leaking at the handles. After Kohler sent the replacement parts, I called David to install them. What should have been a routine installation turned into a marathon, hours and hours, because the parts turned out to be defective. But we didn't know that until David, part by part, tested every possible piece of the puzzle, over and over and over again, trying every possible way to make these parts work, only to discover the faucet couldn't be fixed with the defective parts we were given. And he never complained about the extra time he spent trying to fix it. Once I received a completely new Kohler faucet, David returned and had the whole unit installed in just over an hour. David was able to save me from spending thousands on a new tankless water heater by figuring out why my 10 year old tankless heater just decided to stop working. He figured out that it wasn't the heater or any parts I thought went bad after watching a few YouTube do it yourself repair videos, but instead a sticky earthquake gas valve that made the heater turn off as it was sensing low gas volume. I am impressed he was able to deduce that and the fact he is honest, upfront and knows a lot about tankless heaters. I called David yesterday. My Takagi tankless water heater, which we've had for at least 10 years and serviced yearly was frequently turning off while we were in the shower. When this happened with soap in my hair I figured I needed to call someone to fix it. I looked at the Takagi website and they had a list of companies that did installation and repair. I called the top five and most of them, I needed to leave a message. One I explained my situation and they said they'd call me back. The only one that actually talked to me was David Whyte. He explained his background and experience and asked me to describe my situation and about the physical installation. He asked me to send photos which I did. He said my unit was old and it might have to have the PCB replaced but that he had a stock of them. I have to say that he was sure of himself and that's a good thing. I asked when he could come out and he said tomorrow but he needed to check his schedule and would get back to me. At the time he said he would, he did. He showed up this morning at the time he said he would (notifying me when he was on the way). He looked at the unit and told me all the problems with the installation (which there was nothing I could or would want to do about except keep it clean and keep the airflow going) and then set to work. I ran diagnostics and cleaned the dirty insides and filed off the junk that had built up on the water sensor. He air blew the whole area and tested and retested and all seems well. I paid him and he took my check, gave me a receipt. All and all very professional. Bottom line, I didn't have to replace anything and all seems to be well at this point. read more

I used this guy to unclog my sewer line. He charged me a whole bunch of money to put special chemicals down and do some sort of inspection but said the the work would be "Guaranteed." Two weeks later we had the same problem and he would not return my calls. The short of it: Excellent, prompt service that fixed my sewer back-up for a reasonable price. The long of it: A long overdue review to say THANK YOU to Dave and his guy for fixing my plumbing issue. I've had an ongoing tree root issue that caused the occasional backup in my sewer line. Every year or so, I'd call out a plumber who would snake it, then leave once his snake hit the roots, citing the need to tear up the sidewalk and replace the pipe. (I even called a highly-rated plumber on Yelp who was trying to get thousands of dollars out of me - you can find my review of him on Yelp, too.) This summer, I had a pretty major mainline sewer backup - ick! Terrified at what it would cost, I started investigating the problem. I came across Dave's name and contact info in an LA Times article on the tree root problem in LA neighborhoods. Dave came out promptly and fixed the problem. He is a true expert. He had the right snake for the problem, ran it multiple times to make sure the problem was actually cleared, then used a herbicide to clear the roots.
