We stopped in for dinner after reading the Yelp reviews. The place was clean and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. The view was great. They have an extensive wine and drink menu and a wide variety of options to choose from for dining as well. We share the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were a nice size but there was no Bang. The sauce was pretty mild. The burger which was a brisket and short rib combo was huge and was very juicy and tasty. The fries were also good, nice crunchy. Overall good food with high marks for service and view. read more

Best food on the boardwalk! Decided to finally try this restaurant after staying on the boardwalk for a week. Did not disappoint. Had a Caesar Salad that was not pictured, but very delicious. Had the lobster ravioli which was phenomenal, a couple of shrimps. I have a big appetite so I ordered the margherita pizza afterwards and my goodness, very delicious. Don't be fooled with the cheese, I had my fair shares of margherita pizzas in Italy and this was as good! Did not disappoint. -18% gratitude added as other restaurants in boardwalk have. read more

We had a great dinner at Why Not? Our group had 3 different pasta dishes and sushi. Each pasta was very tasty. The sauce on the spinach and ricotta ravioli was so fresh and light. The star was the Fiocchetti Alle Pere E Tartufo. It was so rich and the flavors were amazing. The portion isn't large, but it was delicious. Also good was the Spinach and Ricotta Ravoli. My son loved his Rainbow Roll Sushi. The waiter was prompt and professional. We also enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant - cozy and cool. read more

We were among the last few customers before they close for the night. A small restaurant with option for outdoor seating by the broadwalk with wonderful view of the ocean. The menu has quite good selections of seafood. We had grilled salmon, mahi-mahi fillet and jumbo prawns. Why not?!? This place did not disappoint these hungry travelers. At first we thought it was a bit pricey for an early dinner. Then came the drinks and sushi---take my money!!! I had the why not signature drink - Bourbon and lemon - why not?!? We had the why not signature sushi roll--so good, so fresh, so tasty with mounds of fresh crab and lobster. Then we tried the surf and turf roll--this was amazing, top 4 rolls we've experienced anywhere (from south beach to San Diego to the shores of Hawaii). Sit outside--the ocean view an hour before sunset is spectacular. Thanks, Why Not! read more

Came from NY to FL for a weekend. My cousin brought me To the Hollywood boardwalk for a nice evening and bite to eat. There were other restaurants but Why Not stood out for its decor and the fact there were many full seated tables said something to me. Okay, what we came for. Oh my goodness the drinks and food were 10/10 and the cherry on top was our server Stefania. She answered our questions with attentive ears and conversed warmly with us. I'm not going into detail with the specifics of all we ordered but the Shelley street drink and the burgers with fries were amazing! Super small hole in the wall plate right on the beach in Hollywood FL! We sat out front so we could watch the waves while we ate. They had like 30+ kinds of mojitos and they were so good! The sushi was delicious. I got the lobster roll and there was so much fish, even on top. The mahi burger and fries were also great. The tacos were just okay - wish everything wasn't fried. I wasn't aware of that when I ordered it, and they didn't come out hot. But otherwise we had a great meal and the service was fast and friendly! Nice out door seating even though building is under construction. Our food was fine but my disappointment is with the sidewalk "marketing" by the hostesses/owners. They throw out specials at you as you are walking the boardwalk to bring you in. Ours was, "come on in, 20% off the whole menu" (on a Wednesday night). Then when we get the bill they said it was only for steaks and burgers. Make sure to clarify the specials- there's always a detail they conveniently leave out or switch! Everything is over-priced on the boardwalk but you are getting great ocean views. One of our favorites is Giorgio's, just across the street on the bay side. Reasonably priced with nice meals. read more

Worst experience ever! Waitress dropped an entire tray in my lap, covering my clothes in food, ketchup, and mayonnaise. Offered club soda but the mess was far too extensive for the small spot club soda would usually be used for. We had just arrived to Boardwalk, paid $25 to park, and as soon as we ate had to leave to return to hotel for change of clothing. They offered a "dessert" for the incident which I did not want, and thought that was an appropriate solution. My kids were finished eating before my food even arrived and lunch took twice as long as planned. After all of this had no problem dropping a check for the full amount, not even a discount. We wanted to try here and I placed an online order that's supposed to ready at 2:30pm, but the restaurant is closed. Again, on here and their website, it says they're open. But physically at the restaurant, it's not open, it's dark inside. I call the restaurant at 5pm, when they're supposedly open for dine-in and told me that they called me to discuss my order. I check after and they did call me, but I don't answer unknown numbers and they never left any voice messages. So he tells me they can refund the order, great, problem solved, right? Nope. I get off the phone and then receive an email from someone saying they wanted my address because they'll deliver my order. Confused, I call the restaurant back and end up speaking with someone else. We ask when the order was completed since we placed this order at 2pm? When did they make this order and are deciding to deliver us food that's been sitting for hours? They're telling me that they'll deliver the order, but they don't have the matcha tiramisu, a $9.88 item, so they'll use that as a "delivery fee." I refuse and tell them that their website let me complete the order, we were there to pick-up the order as mentioned on the confirmation, but they weren't open. The matcha tiramisu was processed, why would I get penalized for it? So he then offers to change it with something else, I say okay and give him our address. My husband also checks GPS and tells him how far and how long it'll be to deliver (30+ minutes). The guy says okay, we get off the phone. Problem solved again? Nope. I get an email saying, "We apologize but we won't be able to drop it off. It is too far of a drive for our associate . We'll process a refund as soon as possible." Guess I will wait for my refund since I wasn't told how long it'll be until I receive it. I'd avoid or call before placing orders. This place is crazy and confusing - and not just the hours. Told we'd get refunded, then get our food delivered, then not delivered.

Our server took quite a while to come over. When she did, she was very nice. We started with Kirin beers that were ice cold. He ordered some fancy eel roll. I had a piece but I am not a fan of eel. It did seem well put together. My JB roll was the best one I ever had. Truly delicious and fresh. We also ordered Mongolian beef. This was really delicious and not overly salted. I was surprised the portion wasn't bigger for a $25 price. Still, very tasty. The side dish of brown rice came about 10 minutes after the dish arrived. This was a bit annoying. We ordered the fried rice with chicken and shrimp later on. When it arrived, I thought it didn't look great. That all changed when I tasted it. The flavors here for the hot food items are very authentic. This dish doesn't seem to photograph well either but let me tell you, it is awesome! There are big tasty shrimps in there, maybe 6 of them. My words cannot adequately describe how good the food is at Why Not? I admit, I wasn't expecting much at a beach front place, but boy was I wrong! I had the salmon, which was grilled perfectly, and oh so delicious. sautéed spinach on the side. My dinner companion and I shared the linguine cacio e pepe, which was divine. I also enjoyed a classic Paloma made perfectly with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. To top things off the service was very good by people who really care about their restaurant and their guests. Looking at you, Stephanie! Yeah, like there's any doubt, I highly recommend Why Not? read more

Why Not, is an absolute must-visit! The beachy vibe paired with a warm and welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy incredible food. Our server, Andres, was fantastic--friendly, attentive, and really knew the menu. We tried the Tony Montana Roll, which was phenomenal, and the Fiocchetti alle Pere e Tartufo, which was simply out of this world. The creamy sauce, sweet pear, and truffle combination was perfection. If you're in Hollywood Beach and looking for a spot that delivers fantastic food and exceptional service, Why Not is the place. I highly recommend it! read more

My gf goes to school in Miami and i come to visit her monthly. After walking around Hollywood beach we decided "why not?" Let me tell you we couldn't have made a better choice. Starting with the service we had a very very nice and helpful hostess and then Sunny, our waiter, was super friendly. Very cozy and clean place and the food is absolutely amazing. I had both the ribeye and the skirt steak and it was exactly how i wanted it. I brought my family back a week after and whenever we are in Miami we will be back! read more

The live music was a nice touch to the atmosphere. They had two acts while I was there and both were great. The tomahawk steak pictured was cooked to perfection and was presented beautifully. 12/10 recommend. OH and John was a great server! Extremely kind and attentive! read more

So happy with our Broadwalk choice to come to Why Not? The mojito and the linguine carbonara were delicious and the best I've had. Our 6 party members were all really pleased with their food. Just keep driving straight until you reach the valet. Parking was only $10, and from the moment I walked in, I realized this place is a true hidden gem. As the evening goes on they even have a live singer performing throughout the restaurant which completely changes the atmosphere and makes the experience feel special. If you can come around sunset. I started outside overlooking the water, watching boats cruise by while the sun was setting then moved inside for dinner. It was honestly the perfect combination. The food... wow. We started with the meatballs, and they were incredibly tender, flavorful, and filling. The Caesar salad was fresh, crisp, and loaded with freshly grated Parmesan. For the main course, I had the Fettuccini Wheel and I was honestly speechless. Watching them finish it tableside was entertaining but the flavor was even better than the presentation. Rich, creamy, and perfectly coated. easily one of the best pasta dishes I've had however the Truffle Cacio e Peppe was a much larger portion while actually costing less, no big deal but something to consider. And of course, we couldn't leave without trying the tiramisu which was light, creamy, and the perfect way to end the meal. My tab was $199 with tip included so I'll be coming back for special occasions. I had the rigatoni with a vodka sauce. The sauce was very good. We also had a spaghetti with meat sauce - also very good. If there was one disappointment, it was the Alfredo sauce. It just didn't have a lot of flavor. I added a lot of pepper and salt to it. That helped. We only got one chunk of bread - definitely would've liked a little more with four orders of pasta. All said, it was very good. I'm sure it would've been even better in person.

The indoors is so well themed that it transports you to Japan! They have beautiful murals on the walls throughout, a ton of decor like the cherry blossom trees, the Japanese famous red archways, and of course and entire koi pond that circles a ton of the tables with which you have to take a bridge to sit at! They have a very spacious inside too, with a ton of traditional seating, a long bar, and over a dozen hibachi tables to sit at! It's a capacity machine and it's beautiful inside. I've never seen such a large and well taken care of koi pond indoors before so I was fascinated with it! The hibachi was also great! We had a party of 5 and got to luckily have our own private chef! I ordered the hibachi chicken and it comes with soup, salad, steamed white rice, veggies, chicken, and a shrimp appetizer! The hibachi chef and all the waitstaff were super friendly and the entire hibachi presentation was super well done. All the food was delicious and plentiful. I def was stuffed after we finished. I've never been here but I'm always ready to try something new. I really wanted to like this place and I don't normally write a review on a one off visit to anyplace. But this is interesting place in itself. The decor is very pedestrian and slightly over the top. There is a great Koi Pond in the middle of the restaurant. We started our order and there were eight of us so it took a little bit. I ordered a SoftShell Crab as an appetizer. It was overcooked! I mean way overcooked, it's the worst SoftShell Crab I've ever had. It's a shame because Sebastian gave his life to be an appetizer. I also ordered Steak (med-rare) with Scallops White Rice not Fried Rice. Chef comes out everything starts fine. The Chef is friendly and entertaining. I was a bit concerned about the cross contamination but the Hibachi is screaming hot so the was low...I guess. He gives me my Steak and watching how long it was on the griddle I knew it was wasaaaaaay past MedRare. I started to eat my Church Shoe.....apologies my Steak and vegetables as I watched my Scallops turn into machinery gaskets. He finally gave them to me in fact it was next to last thing to come off the griddle. I really enjoyed the soup and the salad. As I said at the start of the review, I really wanted to like this place but I left chiefly disappointed. I may return and sit at the bar and stick to Appetizers and Sushi. The drink menu seems pretty decent.

The Food Corner

We've seen their sign for a couple of years now on Federal heading north between Hollywood and…read moreSheridan. The name never landed with us as it sounded like a standalone food court. It was the sign underneath that read, "Too tired to cook today?" that made us take notice. Looking at the online menu we found that it was not only a who's who of Latin dishes of different nationalities, but they also served bar fare - chicken wings, burgers, quesadillas, etc. Not knowing what their specialty was, we never committed to it. But today was one of those days where we felt like something different and we took a chance. The gamble paid off big. The menu was all over the place, so not knowing what direction to go in, I addressed the waiter who was all too ready to help. He pointed me to some of his faves: the Bandeja Paisa, Lomo Saltado, and Ropa Vieja. I'd had my eye on the Lomo Saltado, a popular Peruvian stir fry dish. The Bandeja Paisa is Colombian, and the Ropa Vieja - Cuban. I asked him what the nationality of the ownership was, when he revealed it was Colombian. I was immediately skeptical of ordering the ropa vieja - being half Cuban, I could not fathom the idea of a Colombian-owned restaurant pulling this off. So Joe took one for the team there. The waiter assured me that everything he has tried has in fact been delectable. But hey, what else is he supposed to say? But no, he assured me these were not marketing words, but words of experience. So I went for the Lomo Saltado which was served with black beans and rice, and french fries. He didn't hesitate to vouch for the black beans... I think he sensed my Colombian skepticism. Joe had replaced his fries for sweet plantains, so I took his cue and substituted my fries for tostones. But, not before warning the waiter that I would be particularly particular about the quality of my favorite plantain dish. He gave me a confident nod - so I played along. Joe's dish came out a few seconds before mine, and being the impatient carnivore that I am, I (let's say borrowed) his ropa vieja before he had a chance to pick up his fork. I was very pleasantly surprised. On par with any old clothes I have tried at any Cuban restaurant... and even better than some, albeit in longer strands than I've experienced. However, extremely juicy, full of flavor and tender. Then came my Lomo. I'm a first-timer, so I have nothing to compare it to, but it was fan-tastic. A bit charred outside with a juicy medium innard that cuts like butter, and to my relief, deceivingly tender. The lomo napped on a bed of sautée-charred veggies whose sweetness was a nicely balanced contrast to the savory meat. The black beans were definitely on point and seasoned with Colombian love. And those ten-ton-tostones!!! By far the thickest fried medallions I've had, but with a brutally loud crunch and still a real easy chew. And unlike John Travolta in a black T-Bird jacket, totally Greaseless. Often times, tostones of this variety are tough and as chewable as week-old yellow paper mache. Nope, these are some of the best tostones I've had in a couple of years. But by far the best of their kind. I also borrowed one of Joe's sweet plantations which once again left no trace of greased lightning and were rendered a perfect dark brown with a nice and plush sunshine yellow inside. The portions were more than generous and the price was comfortably modest. I expressed my deepest gratitude to our waiter for his patience and his spot on recommendations. He also swore by their burger which he had just sampled for the first time and which is made partly with Colombian chorizo and served with a side of chimichurri. Chorizo and chimichurri for little cha-ching.... I'm sure I'll be chowing on that real soon. Food Corner is a cornucopia of Latin influences, and so far, it's also a master of two of them. (We were too excited to take photos)
