Lisa is extremely knowledgeable and aside from learning how the gun operates, safety and cleaning of the weapon, she also provided great information on regulatory laws, types of safes and correct methods of transporting your firearm. The trip to the gun range gave me a chance to put into practice what she taught us. She's ex-military so if you feel like you're in boot camp while at the range, it's all good. She wants to make sure that you learn safety not only for yourself, but for others around you. An added benefit, for an additional cost, you can also get your Firearm Safety Certificate. I highly recommend taking this course. I definitely plan on taking additional courses. Thanks Lisa!

It was highly informative and challenging for all of us. The Friday classes are usually very small handful of people and allows us to go for more advanced drills which we wouldn't be able to do otherwise in a larger class of say 10-16. I much prefer it this way. Tim is an excellent trainer and I appreciate his depth of knowledge and willingness to tailor his approach to each students level of abilities. I've taken rifle-1, shotgun-1, tactical pistol 1 and have scheduled pistol-2 next month. I plan to try and take one of his classes at least a couple times a year

Walk in and greeted by the guys, Ricky and the boys are a fun and professional team. They were very helpful and answered my many questions about a new platform that I had just started getting into. They offer a great amount of rentals you can try out at the standard inexpensive rental fee but purchase their ammunition to use. Best lane fees this side of the Mojave. I'll spend 3 hours there easily and won't cost anything extra. Lane configuration is great with plenty of room to prepare to shoot at the line and a bench in the back to put your range gear or sit while your waiting for you turn in your group. This place isn't bougie or boutique, it feels like a family owned small business offering a great product at an incredible price. So if you get a chance give em a visit and say hi to Ricky and the boys cause they always make me feel welcome and I'm sure you will feel the same too.

I've been to a couple shooting ranges before, and…read morefor some reason a lot of them tend to have that same vibe where the staff acts too cool just because they have a gun on their hip or know more about firearms than the average person. Insight Shooting Range in Artesia was the complete opposite. From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel welcomed, safe, and comfortable. Natalie especially was super helpful, educational, and easy to talk to. You can tell the staff here genuinely enjoy what they do and actually care about teaching people the right way instead of trying to intimidate anyone. The whole process is smooth and easy. Of course safety is taken seriously, which is exactly how it should be, but overall it's very easy to walk in, shoot, and get out without any stress. Their gun rentals are also very reasonable and affordable. Every time I come here it's always a breeze. Great environment, great people, and honestly one of the few ranges that makes you feel comfortable whether you're experienced or newer to shooting. Definitely recommend checking this place out.

EXCELLENT... in the truest sense of the word. Tom Nguyen has developed a training program that…read moreexceeded my expectations and has left me eager to go back and do everything else in the curriculum. The ENTIRE beginner's course is built around learning the principles of firearm SAFETY, and Tom and his crew never let you forget why. The attention given to safety and critical thinking from the top rendered me fully trusting of my instructor and her team, which was also critical to my positive experience. I have so much more I could say about LA Progressive Shooters, but I will finish with two critical points for me: First, I chose LAPS very deliberately because I wanted to work with people committed to progressive values, and I found them here -- if you feel intimidated or politically repulsed by typical American macho, conservative gun culture, rest assured you will be at home with LAPS. It is the antithesis of all that. Second, I wish very much that I had done the Pistol 101 course before I ever picked up a gun. If you pay attention and follow instructions, you will be shooting 'holes in holes', as promised. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

To be completely honest, I started this class with a significant amount of fear regarding firearms. However, the patient, safe, and professional manner in which we were taught immediately put my mind at ease. Tom does an incredible job of prioritizing safety above all else, ensuring that every step is understood before moving forward. His teaching partner Val added such a wonderful, welcoming touch to the class. Her presence and guidance made the experience feel even more approachable and inclusive. Because of their combined efforts, I walked away with so much more confidence than I ever thought possible. If you have been hesitant or nervous about taking that first step, I cannot recommend this course enough--you will be in great hands.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. It sounded like they made special accommodations for myself and some other shooters, by opening up the "tactical" range, since there were no members shooting at that time. That was awesome, because it got me on the range sooner. I also brought with me a new firearm - Canik Mete MC9LS with a new optic. I forgot my regular range bag with my tools; however, the range staff allowed me to use one of their tools to adjust my new optic. I don't know how the targets move on the regular range, but on the tactical range, you can push buttons to automatically set the targets at a specified distance, move the targets manually back and forth, and automatically have the target return. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable. $20 per lane and $0.50 targets - WAAAAAY better than prices in the Bay Area. If I were a resident of the area, I'd definitely become a member. (I overheard one of the staff members informing another customer of the benefits and price.). Top Notch outfit in my opinion.

As it turns out, a thorough understanding of firearms safety and proper firearms training changed all of that for me, and that's where Applied Fundamentals Consulting comes in. Julian is as professional as they come, and will cater to your level of expertise, from novice to expert. With over two decades of law enforcement experience under his belt, Julian has had extensive training himself, and his ability to patiently and effectively convey his knowledge and expertise to his clients is absolutely apparent. Aside from the hands-on training that you'll receive from Julian, he makes it a very important point to also teach you about firearms safety. Muzzle awareness, being aware of your surroundings, finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot, and much more. On top of this, his philosophy that if you're going to learn to make holes, you should learn to plug them as well, shows how adamant he is about ensuring that his hands-on training and safety go hand in hand. Additionally, Julian has also consulted me in terms of the various options that are available to me as a firearms consumer. From handguns, to ammunition, gun belts, holsters, weapon mounted flashlights and optics, safety gear and emergency/medical equipment, expect to be FULLY educated by Julian when it comes to firearms. Needless to say, Julian's training has given me all the confidence that I need to have a gun in my home, and to safely and confidently use it, if and when necessary. In fact, I am so comfortable with my pistol now that Julian recently consulted me on spec'ing out a rifle to meet my needs and even acquired the parts and accessories that I needed for this build. I have no doubt that with Julian's training, I will become as confident with my rifle as I've become with my pistol. If you're looking for a true professional to guide you, and more importantly, provide you with the training and knowledge necessary to become a law abiding gun owner, reach out to Julian with Applied Fundamentals Consulting.
