5 stars - Outstanding LASD CCW training with Hansen Firearms Training I recently completed my initial 16-hour Concealed Carry Weapon course with Hansen Firearms Training for my Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department application, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. The classroom portion was thorough, well-organized, and engaging. The instructor did a fantastic job covering everything required under the current California standards while keeping the material clear and practical. What stood out most was the hands-on instruction on the range. The instructor took the time to teach proper firearm grip and handling techniques drawn from his prior professional training experience. These methods made a noticeable difference and helped build real confidence with the firearm. The Long Beach training location was very convenient for me living in Lakewood. Scheduling was straightforward, the process was efficient, and everything needed for the LASD paperwork (Certificate of Completion and Shooting Proficiency Standards form) was handled smoothly and professionally. Overall, this was high-quality, no-nonsense training that prepared me well for the qualification and the rest of the CCW process. I would highly recommend Hansen Firearms Training to anyone going through their LASD (or other Southern California) permit. Great instruction, solid facility, and a positive experience all around. read more

I just want to give a big shout out to Ben and his ccw training course. I got my certification with Ben and it was the smoothest process. I did his initial online 16 hour ccw classes and it was very thorough. It really helped to have the online class to accommodate my schedule. The in person stuff was great, and you can tell Ben wants you to succeed! I highly recommend Hansen Firearms training if you just need general training or your ccw certification. Will be coming back for my renewal! read more

I have trusted Ben for years. I referred multiple people to him for their CCW. Ben is very responsive. Highly recommended.

My husband and I started with Ben back in 2019 getting our California CCWs. Throughout the years, we have done all our renews, qualifying, and add-ones with him and his online courses. I cannot recommend Ben enough. I would not want to work with anyone else. He is so nice, helpful, encouraging, informative, and very thorough. Each time I learn more and more from him. He does a lot for his students and goes above and beyond to help teach us everything we need to know to be responsible gun owners. Highly recommended‼ read more

I love Ben's classes. He is a wealth of knowledge, he treats every student with the utmost respect and truly wants everyone to enjoy themself. He makes all the boring literature fun and gives you the ability to interact with the information. I have been in his class several times already and I always leave feeling more empowered than when I started. If you are looking for someone who is truly passionate about the firearms community and your experience, Ben is the man for all your training needs. A++ in my book, if I could give Hansens 10 stars, I would! read more

My husband and I took classes here. Very informative, interactive and altogether fun.

Ben is a great instructor. A lot of knowledge and experience. Easy going. Makes learning fun. Great price. Highly recommend this class.

I used this company to renew my ccw and they made it very convenient and got my class time and qualifying done very quickly.

Great class. More informative and valuable that classes my peers reported taking with other businesses and trainers. When I need to renew I'll be back here. read more

This was the most informative class I've been to, Ben is great, he answered questions and made this process so much easier then it could have been, very enjoyable I would recommend Ben for your CCW training, local and down to earth kind of guy. I highly recommend taking Ben's CCW course. The course is very educational. Ben makes the class engaging by sharing personal stories instead of just reading slides. Although we weren't able to practice firearm retention on one another due to covid protocols, it was helpful to watch Ben demonstrate the movements, and being able to practice the moves by ourselves. I've also taken Ben's Stop the Bleed course through UDT, and look forward to taking more of Ben's tac med and firearms courses in the future! read more

Ben provides classes at a top level. Ben shares real life experiences and knowledge that he has acquired throughout his career and also provides a great atmosphere for learning and practicing. You will not be disappointed when you selected Hansen Firearm training for any of your needs. read more

Initial CCW applicant review. Do not feel any bit intimidated about going to Ben's CCW class. Ben is an excellent instructor and is very accommodating. I took his one day CCW class with a friend, and we both left the class with a lot more knowledge than expected. I cannot compare to other instructors as this is my first class, but what Ben taught in class and at the range were practical things we could encounter in real life. Ben has great stories to share and everything he shares feels applicable to when you get your CCW permit. I don't think I would be able to review another instructor as I'll be coming back for my renewal I look forward to his advance courses once they are available. Also you can't beat his price. read more

Just went in for my renewal class. Still great training and I learned a lot of new stuff. Ben is great a great instructor and takes the time to make sure everyone in class is learning without making the class feel slow read more

This class was awesome!! Really informative about all aspects of carrying concealed. From clothing, firearms, holsters and the legal side of it. Ben was great. Good stories, wish we had time for more. The scenarios he posed were very relatable. And the training outside the class was really fun. My class had 9 people in it, and it was prefect. We were able to ask lots of questions and really go back and forth on the topic at hand. The range was even better!! His instructions were clear, precise and fun. Not only will I return in 2 years for the renewal but I will be taking his advanced classes as well. read more

Ben is truly a great instructor with a calm, easy-to-follow demeanor. After spending the day taking his class I am confident in recommending him for anyone looking to not only qualify for their CCW but also learn how to safely carry. I enjoyed his focus on techniques like weapon retention and drawing in addition to basic classroom instruction on use of force and other subject-matter. In the class he was candid and frank and didn't blow hot-air or sugarcoat anything which is reassuring. Definitely go to Ben if you want to learn (as opposed to just getting the certificate). read more

Very great instructor and highly recommended. Ben cares about his students and their safety.

Great guy and he made the LONG course feel short and full of information. I highly recommend using Ben Hansen for your CCW qualification. If you don't you're going to miss out on his free stories and cool free prizes for initial qualification! read more

Hansen Firearms Training - Possibly the tightest grouping of the class! - Firearm Training Near Me - Huntington Beach, California

This class was awesome. Due to COVID, we did initial CCW training class in one day, which was great. We watched a few videos prior to class which were informative. The instructor, Ben, is super knowledgeable and hilarious. He's extremely helpful as well and has responded to all of my emails pretty quickly given how busy he is. You won't regret taking this class, whether it's for initial CCW or renewal. He teaches advanced classes as well which I will eventually sign up for when this COVID craziness is over. read more

Just finished my CCW class with Ben at United Defense Tactical. Ben was super informative, took his time answering any and all questions. The content was to the point, and with all his knowledge and experience I walked out the class with a greater understanding of the laws and my personal responsibility when it comes to obtaining my CCW. I highly recommend anyone thinking of going through the CCW process to reach out to MR. Hansen and sign up for his course. read more

Word of mouth is the reason many people use Yelp. By word of mouth, a good friend of mine had told me about and recommended Hansen Firearms Training. The bar and my expectations had already been set high. Once I took a course from Ben, that bar and those expectations had been more than exceeded. Ben has an impressive resume that most people would boast about, but you would never guess it by how humble and down to earth he is. Prior to the course, I got to talk with him on the phone and communicate with him via email. I was impressed by how quickly he would respond and the thoroughness of his answers. His course was no different. I came out of it feeling like I had learned so much. Ben is a great instructor and has a great way of simplifying and explaining things while injecting his great sense of humor. He was so knowledgeable and took the time to ensure everyone understood what was being taught. I genuinely enjoyed the training. I challenge you to take a course from Ben- You'll be hard-pressed to find such a high caliber of instruction at a price and value that can't be beat read more

Out of all of the Trainers that I have worked with, Ben is by far my most favorite. Not only was he very knowledgeable across the board regarding all of my questions, he addressed my wife's questions in a manner that I have not been able to do, that being with patience, understanding of where she was coming from, and why she was asking the question. He was able keep the interest of the entire class as the same time. That has made my life much more pleasurable as I now get to more spend time at the range and with her as she is very comfortable with her new lifestyle. Many thanks to Ben and his training. My wife and I have been to quite a few of his training sessions at this point and all have been well worth the value and knowledge gained. Thank you, Ben! read more

I just completed the one day CCW class yesterday. I really enjoyed the class. Ben has a way of teaching that helped keep me engaged throughout a long day and a lot of material. The hands on training was great as well. Ben shared holstering tactics as well as some other self-defense tactics that were quite helpful. I'd recommend this class to anyone looking to complete their CCW class. It's a good class, good value, and done in one long day. read more

Ben's class was very informative. He is very knowledgeable and offers many tips in obtaining your CCW smoothly. He is well updated with the law and regulations that constantly changes. This is the 2nd time I've taken the CCW class with Ben, his techniques both on and off the range will be an asset to all that takes his class. If you sign up, you will get a bit of hands on technique on how to de-escalate situations without using a gun. This is not just a firearm safety course, even experienced shooters can benefit from his teaching. I highly recommend his classes. And his CCW course is the cheapest I've found in OC County. Great job Ben and thanks for another informative lesson. read more

Nothing but good things to say about Ben's CCW class. It was informative yet concise, and Ben did a great job of keeping it interesting. He has a lot of first-hand experience, so it's nice to learn from someone that has real-world experience with firearms and concealed carry. Additionally, I felt that the prices were very competitive compared to other CCW classes I looked at. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone looking to get their initial CCW or renew their existing permit. I will definitely be back when its time for my renewal. read more

I highly recommend Ben Hansen's CCW training. I have taken Mr Hansen's CCW class and am very impressed with all aspects of the process! Firstly, Mr Hansens course is among the most reasonably priced of these in Southern California but it -- IN NO WAY -- does it stint on quality or abundance of material and training. Mr Hansen's CV is impressive and it comes across in his teaching of the class. He communicates all facets of this with authority, necessary humor, and cheerfulness. He does not talk down nor condescend and answers all questions with patience and clarity. You leave the class with a clear understanding of what your rights and responsibilities are as a CCW holder. One of Mr Hansen's great strengths is his ability to communicate -- both in and out of the class. In my run-up to the academic session, Ben took the time to inform me what I would have to do to qualify and prepare. His frequent AND PERSONAL emails were a great help in my matriculation. I will be attending further classes and training as the needs arise. read more

If you need ANY type of firearms training this is the man to see! I just completed his 16 hour CCW Course, and I am ready for more. His CCW course is complete, comprehensive, enjoyable and most importantly puts emphasis on what you need to know to carry successfully once approved. Frankly, I don't know why is class cost so little, for everything that he provides you including a holster and tactical training gun, he could easily charge $100 bucks more! Now while I appreciate the value he offers, its obvious that this man does this because he really loves what he does, and that his motivation is not $$ but a true love of his practice. Well done Sir! and thank you very much for some great training! I'm looking forward to more sessions with you! read more

This is the only place you should go for your required 16 hour course. Ben has a unique teaching style that mixes professionalism, humor, and a pretty unbiased point of view. He doesn't tell you his opinion on things unless you ask. This is absolutely commendable. He wont try to steer you in any direction to be against or for something. He has a "This is how it is." kind of approach. Again, he will tell you his personal opinion if asked. He keeps his power points lively, so there's no need to worry about the infamous "death by power point." Make no mistake, he doesn't just offer this course, he offers many other advanced courses for follow on training which I plan on signing up for once I finish up this semester at school. Also, he's not some douche either... He's a totally humble, easy to talk to, and down to earth guy. This is great considering this mans extensive background. I look forward to getting more follow on instruction from him. read more

I recently completed a firearms training course taught by Ben Hansen. It was outstanding. Ben is very personable and makes the class interesting. It was a long class (as required by law), but he kept the course moving along. From his sharing of personal experiences to his knowledge of law and training - I would highly recommend Hansen Firearms Training to anyone looking to develop their knowledge base. This applies for beginners to the more advanced. Ben's approach to class was very balanced. By this I mean that he kept it serious when necessary but wasn't above adding humor here and there, which was much appreciated after a long day. His sharing of open-hand combat techniques definitely added to the overall experience. All in all, the class and Ben's instruction provided a well-rounded, informative and entertaining day. I will absolutely continue to use Hansen Firearms Training in the future. I would recommend Ben to my family and friends. read more
