I don't own or even want to own a gun (yet, maybe), but in this day and age, unfortunately, I feel it's necessary to learn how to use one and use one safely and confidently. So I've been wanting to take a firearms training course for a long time and this course was exactly what I was looking for. The first part of the course, we go over everything about the workings of a gun and how to properly handle one. We learn about gun etiquette and laws; it was a lot of material to go over, but Jesse, the owner, was really great at teaching and explaining everything step by step. By the time we actually got to handle a gun, I felt prepared. Not going to lie, I was still a nervous wreck, but with Jesse showing us and reminding us each step of the way, I felt very safe. To my surprise, my aim was actually not bad for a beginner! But I do have to give all the credit to the instructor. I cant say enough just how much I learned that day and I can keep raving about it, but if you're looking for a beginner firearms course, this one is definitely worth it! Thank you Jesse and his team for providing such an awesome learning experience.

I had been contemplating purchasing a firearm for a few years, however I always seemed to convince…read moremyself not to do so, particularly because I was afraid of having a gun in my home. As it turns out, a thorough understanding of firearms safety and proper firearms training changed all of that for me, and that's where Applied Fundamentals Consulting comes in. Julian is as professional as they come, and will cater to your level of expertise, from novice to expert. With over two decades of law enforcement experience under his belt, Julian has had extensive training himself, and his ability to patiently and effectively convey his knowledge and expertise to his clients is absolutely apparent. Aside from the hands-on training that you'll receive from Julian, he makes it a very important point to also teach you about firearms safety. Muzzle awareness, being aware of your surroundings, finger off the trigger until you're ready to shoot, and much more. On top of this, his philosophy that if you're going to learn to make holes, you should learn to plug them as well, shows how adamant he is about ensuring that his hands-on training and safety go hand in hand. Additionally, Julian has also consulted me in terms of the various options that are available to me as a firearms consumer. From handguns, to ammunition, gun belts, holsters, weapon mounted flashlights and optics, safety gear and emergency/medical equipment, expect to be FULLY educated by Julian when it comes to firearms. Needless to say, Julian's training has given me all the confidence that I need to have a gun in my home, and to safely and confidently use it, if and when necessary. In fact, I am so comfortable with my pistol now that Julian recently consulted me on spec'ing out a rifle to meet my needs and even acquired the parts and accessories that I needed for this build. I have no doubt that with Julian's training, I will become as confident with my rifle as I've become with my pistol. If you're looking for a true professional to guide you, and more importantly, provide you with the training and knowledge necessary to become a law abiding gun owner, reach out to Julian with Applied Fundamentals Consulting. I assure you, you will not be disappointed!

To be completely honest, I started this class with a significant amount of fear regarding firearms. However, the patient, safe, and professional manner in which we were taught immediately put my mind at ease. Tom does an incredible job of prioritizing safety above all else, ensuring that every step is understood before moving forward. His teaching partner Val added such a wonderful, welcoming touch to the class. Her presence and guidance made the experience feel even more approachable and inclusive. Because of their combined efforts, I walked away with so much more confidence than I ever thought possible. If you have been hesitant or nervous about taking that first step, I cannot recommend this course enough--you will be in great hands.

The prices are not my favorite thing about this place but you have to realize this is a small business and they can't price things as cheap as the big name stores however you can still get things for a decent price and you get to support a small business while your at it.

Not knowing much about what I had just bought I went home and looked it up. I paid about half of what that shotgun goes for at Bass Pro. I was pretty happy with that purchase and very happy the guys behind the counter had my back and best interest in mind. PS. The shotgun in the photo is not the one I bought. But they do have it on sale for $400.

I attended their intro to handguns class, covering the basics of safety and proper form, and getting in some introductory shooting experience. John, our instructor, was very engaging and great at commanding attention when needed and building up the class's confidence. Afterward, I took them up on their 'newbie' offer of free range time and rental after class. Kevin signed me up for a lane, let me rent a couple of handgun models I researched previously, and critiqued my targets, giving some general feedback and advice. He also pointed me toward a couple other models that are known to be more friendly to left-handed shooters that I can test out in the future. Great place; a little on the older and smaller sides, but staff was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. I get the feeling that as I 'shop around' for my go-to range there's a strong chance I will gravitate back here, since these guys are passionate about what they do, and seem to want to inspire that passion in others. Definitely will make it a point to stop by again.

As expected for a weekend, there was a wait, but since we were off for the day, we didn't mind hanging out on the folding chairs in the retail section for 30 minutes. The staff is awesome--super friendly and easy to talk to--and the check-in was painless. While waiting, I noticed their optics prices are actually lower than most other shops in OC. I'll definitely be back when I'm ready to pick up another Holosun. The only real downside is their range rule: you have to reload your magazines at the shooting stall, not the back table. Because the space is tight, I couldn't reload while my friend was shooting. We ended up spending half our time just loading mags, which really cut into our actual trigger time. It's a solid spot and less expensive than other local ranges, so I'd come back alone, but I'll probably skip the "buddy trips" here since the reload rule makes it hard for two people to get their money's worth.

It was highly informative and challenging for all of us. The Friday classes are usually very small handful of people and allows us to go for more advanced drills which we wouldn't be able to do otherwise in a larger class of say 10-16. I much prefer it this way. Tim is an excellent trainer and I appreciate his depth of knowledge and willingness to tailor his approach to each students level of abilities. Lisa is extremely knowledgeable and aside from learning how the gun operates, safety and cleaning of the weapon, she also provided great information on regulatory laws, types of safes and correct methods of transporting your firearm. She wants to make sure that you learn safety not only for yourself, but for others around you. An added benefit, for an additional cost, you can also get your Firearm Safety Certificate. I highly recommend taking this course. I definitely plan on taking additional courses. Thanks Lisa!
