Great experience for the beginners hand gun course. The instructor Chris was great and I really liked how he went into the psychological aspect of firearm ownership and the defensive nature of it. You could tell he has high EQ, which is a relief. I felt more comfortable and less anxious while around guns after having some past trauma etc. Lance joined the class and gave some great info himself, along with giving us the FSC test which was convenient. Also, kudos to Lance again - I signed up for this in Feb/March but never found the 8 hour Sunday I needed until this weekend. I had clear communication when I could not attend in spring, and he let me join this class in September so I did not feel like I threw the $ away and got everything out of it. So far taken Basics Hand Guns course and 16 Hr CCW class with FAST OC so far and let me tell you... 1) it's whole alotta FUN. being a first time firearms owner I was nervous at first but training with FAST made me feel more comfortable about safe handling a gun and building the proper techniques. 2) the classes are long and there's lots of informations that get covered but Lance makes the experience more enjoyable by making the class more of a discussion, where people can participate and ask questions 3) CCW classes were kept small in size (8 people only) so each person got 1v1 instructions on how to improve on the range. 4) Lance is a funny guy, Kylie & Ray is really cool too. This was the most unprofessional firearm training course I had ever attended. Ended up, leaving during the break because I could not tolerate the tirade of F bombs, and anti-police rhetoric for another three hours. The guy teaching the class has some serious anger management problems, and I have serious concerns if he should even be having a firearm. What a great experience the basic hand gun course at Fast OC. The course was very thorough and Lance did a great job taking his time to answer all questions. The best thing was that everything to be done on the range was done in the classroom before we went to the range. We loaded blank bullets into the magazines, took them out, inserted the magazine into the gun and removed it, and simulated actually aiming and firing the pistol. For those not experienced, it is so much less stressful handling a weapon for the first time in the classroom and not in the range. Overall I would totally recommend FAST OC to anyone (experienced or inexperienced) wishing to learn or fine tune their basic skills. Great job FAST OC!! read more

I've taken 10 courses with FAST OC between Jan 2018 and April 2020. Basic and Intermediate Handgun, CCW, Basic Rifle, and numerous Advanced CCW handgun clinics. I've taken at least many as that from other schools in Southern California. The monthly Advanced CCW Clinics are the best value of any firearms class I've taken, anywhere. First time taking it is a regular price, then returning students are at a much lower rate. For 3-4 hours of top quality instruction. This is not a beginner class. If you are new to handguns, my advice is that you are only as good as your training and these are perishable skills so keep training for the rest of your life, not just a class or two. Being the best shooter in the world is useless if you don't have your tools on you, so consider getting CCW. First you learn gun safety and be strict in following the Rules. Focus on fundamentals exclusively in the beginning, and then continue to refine them over time. Spend 5 minutes drilling every night, yeah every night, drilling. You might drill your trigger pull i.e. dry firing. Drill your draw from concealment. Drill your emergency reload and tactical reload from concealment. Drill your stationary turns, your presentation and quickly switching your focus from target to the front sight as the sight comes into view as arms are being extended. Drill having the front sight end up inside the rears when you draw and present the gun with your eyes closed. Drill transitioning between targets smoothly and not overshooting. Moving off the X during shooting and reloading. If you have a DA/SA handgun, use that DA to drill your smooth trigger press on a heavier trigger without disturbing your sight alignment and sight picture, then speed it up. Then demonstrate and test the skills when you go to the range by yourself, or in the classes you take, with live fire. For every hour at the range burning through ammo, you should be spending at least an hour if not more at home troubleshooting your technique and developing the muscle memory through repetitions. For every trigger press that goes bang! there should be 100 trigger presses where it goes click (at home). Only practicing your skills when you show up to class or go shooting at the range is like only picking up a basketball on game nights; in any endeavor serious people train on their own, identify their weaknesses, and improve at home through repetition. read more

Of course we all moaned and groaned at the 8am time on a Sunday, but I knew that if I was going to be around firearms in the future, I wanted to know how to operate one safely in case I ever needed to use it. Being a homeowner, and witnessing some recent robberies occur in our neighborhood, I felt it was necessary for me to learn how to use a firearm. Like Trent taught me today, a gun sitting on a table, fully loaded, is not dangerous. What is dangerous, however, is the people around it, and how they may choose to use it. // Price // $100-$125 depending on the week // Location // Easy to find in the City of Orange. The sign in the plaza might trick you, and it says there's some sort of training thing in Suite D, but just follow the directions in the email, and go to the 1095 building, second floor, Suite S! // Instructors // Trent and Madison were our instructors for the day and they were absolutely fabulous. Trent taught majority of the didactics, and his experience in the military and in the field made him a credible and engaging teacher. Madison was also great, especially during the hands on range portion time, and she gave me a lot of great tips to help me improve my precision. // Class Content // Very informative! Something's off I emailed on March 7th inquiring about their class and age requirements, being that I'd like to take my son. I didn't receive a response until March 20th. In their response I was told that they were following up to see if I had received their email and to contact them if still interested. However I never received anything from them prior to this. I checked my emails, checked spam, trash, etc... Just in case their email got lost somewhere in the cyber mess. Nope... Nothing. So I responded telling then I never received anything and if he would mind resending the non existent "initial" email. Still no response. 2 days later I messaged again, providing my phone number and saying that maybe he should just text me the info on the off chance that the emails really just aren't getting through for whatever reason. 3 weeks later ....no email, no text. My husband and I took the basic class. We enjoyed the class and learned so much. It starts off with instruction, lunch then the gun range. We felt safe from the beginning to the end of the class. We went to the gun range in the afternoon. Each of us stepped into the bay and Lance gave us step by step of what we needed to do. The classroom instruction had went over everything but now we are ready to shoot a gun and he wanted to make sure we understood what to do. We did a step by step process, loading the magazine, inserting the magazine, etc. No one was allowed to shoot on their own until Lance felt we were ready. He and Kylie were watching everyone and quickly stepping in to correct any issues. Throughout the entire course, Lance kept stressing the importance to keep our finger off the trigger until we we're ready to shoot and would remind us or anyone if they forgot. The other important thing was the grip, how to hold a gun along with gun safety. There are many things to remember but all of them are important. We definitely recommend his course! My wife took an 8-5 basic handgun course by herself and loved it. Said it's one of the best things she has invested in. It gave her a strong basic understanding of handguns and the laws surrounding it, mechanics, safety and functionality. Lance and Chris are the real deal. I just took their 16 hour CCW certificate course and I was very happy with the quality of instruction. They aren't an irresponsible certificate factory like some of the other less scrupulous training facilities out there. They really want to train responsible CCW holders to be prepared for all the possible challenging situations you might find yourself in. During the live fire portion of the course, I felt my skills pushed to their limits, but in a very safe manner.
