Are they still open? The phone number doesn't work. They were great about 12 years ago. They helped my wife and I get our CCW's.

From the moment I walked into the classroom, Edmund made everyone feel welcome. You can tell he genuinely cares about his students and has put a tremendous amount of thought into every aspect of the course. Everything was organized, professional, and ran smoothly. Day two on the range was just as impressive. Robert and Dave brought the same level of professionalism, patience, and enthusiasm. No matter your experience level, they take the time to coach, answer questions, and make sure you're learning the right way. I never felt rushed or intimidated--just encouraged to become a safer and more confident shooter. I walked away with far more knowledge, confidence, and practical skills than I expected. I genuinely feel like I'm leaving as a more proficient shooter and a more responsible gun owner. If you're on the fence or comparing CCW courses, do yourself a favor and stop searching. This is the class you want to take. Thanks again to Edmund, Robert, and Dave for an outstanding experience!

The in-class session with Edmund was incredibly informative and engaging, and the live-fire range training with Edmund, Dave, Gio, Don, and Robert was exciting all the way through. This powerhouse team consists of great people teaching highly practical, useful skills and knowledge. This class is not for the weak, but neither is handling and being truly proficient with firearms. I had so much fun that I'm already looking forward to taking more advanced training sessions, and I would highly recommend Shoot Safe to anyone looking to level up their skills!

He's polite, helpful, and supportive and he really helped me learn very helpful safe handling and technique. Honestly the value of the class was very worth it for the knowledge I gained and the practice and training I received. Course taken: Beginner Pistol Training Course…read more Summary: 2-day course. First day was in the office where topics were covered via PowerPoint presentation and Pete allowed us to do dry firing with airsoft guns. Second day was at the range for about 1.5hr where he taught us safe operation (i.e. grip, stance, aiming, accuracy, loading, unloading). Special remarks: Pete's dedication to gun safety and safe gun operation is apparent in the way he teaches. He is passionate about safety and an enthusiastic teacher which made the class fun. One of his most valuable strengths is that he was able to teach in a way that I could understand. (Side note: I am afraid of guns but took this class to combat that fear!) Pete was able to keep the class engaged, provided constructive feedback, and attention to detail. With his guidance and support, I was able to see a significant improvement in my grouping and decrease my fear of guns overall. Also, I made new friends in the class :) **I will be returning for other classes. Definitely recommend.

First Time and Excellent Experience…read more This was our first time taking a firearm course, and we came as a group of four wanting to learn the basics and, most importantly, how to handle firearms safely and responsibly. From the moment we arrived, we felt that safety was the top priority. The setting was amazing, the location was great, and the entire experience was extremely well organized. Doug and Paula were fantastic instructors. They paid incredible attention to detail and were very patient throughout the entire course. They explained everything clearly, including proper handling, safety procedures, and how to keep everyone around us safe. They took the time to walk us through every step, answered all of our questions, and never made us feel rushed or uncomfortable asking for clarification. By the time we left, we felt much more knowledgeable and confident about the fundamentals of safe firearm handling. We couldn't have asked for a better experience for our first course. Doug and Paula were professional, knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely focused on making sure everyone was safe. Highly recommend them to anyone looking to learn the fundamentals of firearm safety and responsible handling.

I later spoke with Paula who was friendly and helpful, she told me she was gathering enough people for a small beginners class for women, I asked if I could bring some friends and she said yes. We signed up and she provided all the information via email. I nor my friends had ever shot guns before so we were a little nervous. We got to the range and met Sayaka, who was badass! She assisted us to get geared up and shared about her expertise. There was about 6 people in our class, so it made it very intimate and they were able to assist us individually if needed! Paula and Sayaka went over various topics of safety. Already it made me feel at ease. Paula is so knowledgeable and quite hilarious she had be cracking up the entire class. Paula and Sayaka made a great team and they explained everything thoroughly. Such cool ladies! I was so inspired by them! We went over the movement of pulling the gun out from the holster over and over and over. But we didn't use the gun just learned the movements so we can get comfortable. Then we moved on to actually holding the gun. It was really helpful, because once we began shooting the adrenaline spiked! I got a lil scared and so did my friend but Paula and Sayaka were extremely patient and helpful. They showed us how to shot, where to shot, and how to reload. They gave me so much confidence that I could be badass like them! I will definitely be back and taking the next course. The three hours flew by! It was a lot of fun! We didn't know we were gonna get to shot in the shoothouse so that was a surprise and such a great time! Paula got some cool pics of us. 10/10 experience and I def recommend to women who have never shot before. It's definitely a necessity to protect ourselves and our loved ones!

Their website goes into detail relative to courses and they also offer memberships with ongoing training opportunities inclusive of live fire range skills and shooting. I took my initial CCW 16 hour two day course with Artemis Defense Institute and it was comprehensive, rewarding and even fun. Steven and Sandy Lieberman have this coursework mastered. Steven led the class and has vast knowledge in concealed carry and constitutional law. It was refreshing listening to the legal parameters as it relates to 1st, 2nd and 14th amendment issues and recent changes affecting concealed carry and future insights and possibilities. The class is enlightening and held in a comfortable and well designed conference classroom. Steven outlines the doctrine of necessity, Cooper's colors, the importance of mastering at skill at arms and the preservation of human life as core essentials. Professionalism at arms and the preservation of existence was a true focal point during the coursework. I so enjoyed Steven's style of teaching with real world scenarios, application and of course humor. This class is a must for anyone looking at a first time CCW, renewal or refresher, it's fantastic. Steven covers all aspects of SB2 (AB1078), philosophical doctrine, constitutional law, threat cycle, strategic and tactical environment characteristics and so much more. Sarah who manages the front end, provides training, handles all documentation inclusive of applications for additional CCW states such at AZ and UT and so much more. Sarah is phenomenal and another key player and pleasure to have in your corner. The team at Artemis is highly skilled, knowledgable, professional, helpful and caring. Kavon was our live fire qualification instructor and what an amazing professional and quality individual. Kavon is skilled in all aspects of firearms safety and operation and is another key staff member to compliment this amazing defense institute. Sandy was not present during our training due to a family emergency but Steven provided a summary of her background and skill traits as co-owner of the facility and her skills are quite impressive as well. I also purchased Steven's book which is available on Amazon titled Sword and Quill co-authored by Steve Tarani another self defense professional. I highly recommend this coursework through Artemis Defense Institute as this was rewarding and I plan to take additional training throughout the year when my wife and I are not traveling. 5 stars plus

We also wanted to find out information about classes, as many of the rec club people are interested in having spouses and Their older children get basic safety and protection training. No one present at the desk to answer our questions. We had to walk around for some time before we found anyone. Person was rude and stand-offish. Simply refused to answer questions and directed us towards their web site. We Do NOT Recommend. We took the rec club business elsewhere and never went back.

They have classroom spaces upstairs, which is where my instructor provided a lot of useful, practical information on my firearm: I assembled my AR on my own and learned quite a bit during that process, but he further showed me how to disassemble it completely (I purchased a complete upper so didn't know how the BCG fully operated) and best practices for using and cleaning it. Then we went down to lane 18 for hands-on training. Shot about 100 rounds -- my instructor helped me zero in both my iron sights and a red dot with magnifier I installed on my AR. Everyone there seemed to be expert firearms owners, which is a good thing vs. people who are unsafe and not following safe usage guidelines (I've heard other ranges in L.A. County allow newbies on the range without instruction -- not a good idea for obvious safety reasons). I also like that they have a lounge area where people who are not shooting can still look through thick glass/plexiglass and be safe doing it. Also, they provide a sink and soap so you can wash your hands afterwards (hint: you don't want gunpowder or other after-effects of shooting on your hands should law enforcement pull you over for another reason). You can rent a lane by the hour ($25/hour). No reservations so first come, first served. Will definitely be going back here for more practice. Recommended!

I asked specific questions regarding how Zoom/virtual teaching would work, because I thought it was a one on one situation. And Eric is right, I have no ability to judge their teaching because I did not take a class, but this review is not in regard to their teaching, it is for their unprofessional and angry/reactive correspondence that I am reviewing.
