My food falling through the bottom of the container.

I placed an online order for pickup on my way to work. Pickup was quick and easy, but when I got to work the food started falling out of the container into the bag. The food had been placed in the bag too hot and stacked on top of another container, which caused the containers to fuse together and pull apart when I lifted it. I called the restaurant to report the issue and was told I would need to bring the food back to receive a credit. I explained that I was already at work until 2 PM and even offered to send a photo, but that wasn't accepted. Being asked to come back later in St. Patrick's Day traffic just wasn't reasonable. I've been coming to White Palace Grill for over 13 years while working in the medical district, so this was disappointing. I hope management reviews their packaging and how situations like this are handled, because the customer service used to be much better.

We just ordered simple breakfast meal after a night of drinking, it was very busy and not a whole lot of room in the restaurant. Lots of to go orders being prepared! the staff was very friendly! They took good care of us we never had to ask for anything!

So yummy!

I always wanted to come but never had time. Food was decent for diner food but the staff was just so incredibly sweet, helpful and generous with service and portions that I greatly enjoyed it!

White Palace Grill is a true Chicago staple -- and if you know, you know. Open 24/7, it's one of those iconic spots that's seen the city at every hour. I've been here many times, but this was my first visit at a "reasonable" hour -- and wow, what a different vibe (in a good way)! We came with a party of nine, including family visiting from Mississippi, and they were all impressed. The food did not disappoint! I had the burger -- juicy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Also tried the liver and onions -- absolutely amazing. Comfort food done right. Now let me give a special shoutout to our server, Patrick -- double amazing. Honestly, a great server can make or break your dining experience, and Patrick made ours. He was friendly, patient with our big group, and gave spot-on recommendations. He didn't just sell us on the popular dishes; he gave honest opinions that helped us order what we'd truly enjoy. And let me tell you -- it worked. His personality and attention made the food taste even better. That kind of energy is priceless. Our whole family left full, happy, and talking about the experience. From the classic diner feel to the warm service and satisfying plates, White Palace Grill remains one of my go-to favorites in Chicago. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this is one of those places that never lets you down. Go hungry, and if you're lucky -- ask for Patrick!

Went there for dinner around 5 pm as it was just at the bus stop we dropped and were too tired to walk elsewhere so we dicided to give it a try . This place definitely doesn't hesitate wheen it comes to size burger in my opinion was quite big but if you like bacon you got some for your money they do put A LOT of bacon in your burger which compared to the cheese ratio was a bit disproportionned . Our waitress was really nice maybe a bit rushy for us to take our orders before we could even check on the menu but very good service otherwise. Also glad to mention that once we chose the place we discovered it been featured on DDD the TV show with Guy Fiery back in 2008 . Surely a good place that I recommand while in Chicago and it's open 24/7 and serves breakfast 24/7 so little bonus points right there ;)

Classic Onion Rings

We've been meaning to try out this Chicago staple for awhile and we're so happy we did! Love the classic diner ambiance, service was super friendly and attentive, and the food was comforting and a great serving size for the price. We got: - onion rings: very good with ranch - biscuits and gravy with sausage: not the best we've ever had, but a big portion - fried catfish: tons of sides and the catfish was cooked well with a good breading - chocolate chip pancakes: the highlight of the meal, definitely get these!! Super fluffy and big We would definitely come back!

Every place has a 24x7 place but this restaurant is the place to be especially in the city late at night. I had to get the 2x2x2x2x meal. The food was great and exactly what I needed and on time. I would say if you need something late night don't forget to stop by for a meal.

Perfect 24/7 joint. Went at like 4am on Christmas Eve after my friend's night shift and it was exactly what I needed it to be at that hour (a lil melancholy, and as some would say, a liminal space). Extensive menu, featured on Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives, rightfully. Solid breakfast hash

Eggs and hashbrowns

The country fried steak was so yummy. They have a really good gravy. Eggs and hash browns were pretty typical for diner food, nothing special. Decent coffee too! Service was quick and our server was kind.

Good BLT
Jay Ef Jai ..

So I came here after a night of drinking and got the BLT, cornbeef hash, side of sausage links and hash browns. Nothing special about the hash browns or the sausage links. Both are straight from the grocery store. Charged a quarter because it was carry out. Are you kidding me??? Cornbeef and the BLT was good. Service was ok. Being 24 hours is a huge plus. The place is a staple of Canal Street.

All American diner with a retro vibe. The walls are painted with pieces of Chicago history which is really fun. Service was fast and friendly. We ordered the Ruben deluxe which comes with soup and fries. The Ruben is delicious, I am not huge fan of rye bread and this was very good, not overpowering. Shopping is close by. You can park in the garage and get your ticket validated at one of the stores up to 90 minutes of free parking. Great spot!

Tammi W.

Diner ambiance and great diner food. Service was good. Soup and salad are the best! This is also a DDD spot.

Wow! So happy I finally got to come here. They have recently started accepting some reservations…read moreand I was lucky enough to get one. I understand why they are famous for their burgers. I had the single cheeseburger and it lived up to the hype. I learned that the single burger is actually a double and the double is actually a triple. I was recommended to add an egg and bacon to the burger and I'm glad I did. Each bite was a glorious burst of flavor. The bacon is epic. Thick juicy slices. The cheeseburger was perfect. I didn't need additional condiments and that never happens for me. The fries were good too and came with a delicious aioli. For beverages, I loved my Arnold Palmer. I also tried a cocktail--the Long Island Iced Coffee. It was pretty strong. I added a shot of bourbon cream to it and that sweetened it up and made it perfect for me. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for dessert. Cute restaurant. Cozy inside. They have an outdoor patio as well. If you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait. Excellent food. Excellent service. Jennifer took great care of me and made great suggestions. It's pricy but it's worth it.

My friend wanted to go to Au Cheval while we were both visiting Chicago, which is one of the most…read morepopular restaurants for tourists. I've heard the wait is insane, so it's recommended to make a reservation on Resy. Off the bat, I was already side-eyeing this process. I had to pay $2.49 per person to secure a reservation, which is crazy. This is not a deposit either, which I would have understood. I've just never encountered a restaurant that charges a fee to make a reservation. Upon arrival, we got seated immediately (which I would hope so, after paying to make a reservation). Our server collected our orders quickly and our food came out about 15-20 minutes later. CRISPY FRIES - 13.99 Charging $14 for a side of fries is wild enough, but topping it with a completely solid fried egg was baffling. I'm not sure what the culinary vision was. Are we supposed to mash it all together into some sort of hash brown situation, or awkwardly eat the fried egg on its own? The fries themselves were fine, nothing to write home about. However, I did enjoy the mornay sauce and garlic aioli that came on the side. SINGLE CHEESEBURGER - 17.99 +3.49 for egg Over $20 for a burger that doesn't come with sides? I was a little disappointed my burger came with a side of a knife instead. I thought the whole gimmick was having the knife strike straight down into the burger. Beyond that, the burger wasn't anything unique. The bun itself was dry and mid, not the soft and fluffy bun I had envisioned. Everything else was fine -- not bad, but certainly not great. While it wasn't a bad burger, I can't help but feel incredibly disappointed given the hype around Au Cheval burgers. My friend told me the way to "fully experience" Au Cheval is to get the cheeseburger plus both the egg and bacon add-ons, which our server also recommended. I did try a piece of my friend's bacon with my burger and it does add a depth of smoky sweetness. However, that becomes a 17.99 + 3.49 + 6.99 = 28.47 for a burger. That's insane. The add-ons themselves cost more than half of the burger. I'm not doing that to my wallet. Sorry, but this was a disappointing experience for me. I'd rather just go to Shake Shack, which at least comes with tasty and juicy burgers for 1/3 of the price.

An amazing experience! Highly recommend!…read more We experienced the tiniest goat, which you get to sit in front of the kitchen, all the action. You need reservations, paid a flat rate per person, only include a drink, absolutely worth it. The menu is set by the chef. The waiter is super knowledgeable and friendly. A disclosure is that the chef doesn't make your food in front of you, the show is to see all the kitchen staff in action, you have front row seats to where the magic happens. A unique experience, the food was super delicious with a mix of flavors from around the world. I left with an amazing experience in terms of food and flavors, but my greatest lesson was how hard the kitchen staff works and the passion: the orchestrated action to keep with the orders, the constant heat from the kitchen, the attention to details, and the love for flavor perfection. Plus, one of the best old fashioned I have ever had!

It took 45 mins to get our first dish, which was the halibut. First, just want to comment that the portion size is quite small relative to the price of the dishes. The halibut. This was very delicious. Somehow the blueberry nuoc cham works? The fish was tender and flaky. The sauce was salty and full of umami with a hint of blueberry sweetness. This fish dish made me crave for a bowl of steaming hot bfluffy white rice. The string beans. Unless you are allergic to nuts, this is a must get dish. Perfectly cooked string beans (still crispy but not raw) sautéed with fish sauce vinaigrette was an absolute delight. It's also on the salty side which made me crave rice but it's such a flavor bomb. The cashews provided a contrast in texture but yet complemented the seemingly simple dish. I wish the portions were bigger. The galbi. It's was good but compared to the first 2 dishes, didn't really wow me. The meat was one rib strip (4 rib bones) cut into 4 pieces so it's a rather small portion for the price. The stone fruit slices was a nice pairing in that it provided a sweet and tart contrast to the heavier meat flavor. After trying this dish, I felt I personally prefer the LA galbi marinade flavor and preparation for short ribs. Overall, I'm glad I got to try this place. Would come back for the string beans on a splurge day .
