a white building with a blue and white stripe

Belly bombers, sliders, White Castles....whatever you call them they are still the same addicting little burgers I grew up eating and when the craving hits (which is about 2-3 times a year) I must indulge. Things have changed from the White Castles of old. You can no longer stare at the giant glass window facing out into the restaurant to watch those thin square burgers cooked in front of your eyes on the giant grill then covered with those delicious perfectly tiny diced sauteed onions, a slice of pickle and perhaps some cheese, then topped with their proprietary bun until the steam from the grill infuses it with the burger and onion flavors. Oh, and I also remember the tubular plastic thing hanging down from the ceiling that was used to squirt just the right amount of ketchup on each burger. Finally, each burger is placed into a perfectly sized box (yellow for cheese and blue for regular). Today, everything is done behind the scenes but I assure you the original burgers taste very much the same way I remember them and they still come in the same boxes. White Castle also offers an Impossible plant based slider and it's pretty good. The first iteration when it was released was a hand formed round one and didn't really hit the mark. However, they made some changes to make it more like the original by making it square and a little thinner. My only issue is that they use a different bun for it and it's not as good as the original slider bun. Additionally, although I appreciate that the impossible burger is thicker and has more meat I still think it should be made just as thin as the original. Burger King has an Impossible Whopper and you would be hard pressed to tell it apart from the original. This is not the case with White Castle and I'm not sure why. Anyway, I did order both burgers (the original and the Impossible) as well as a few different cheese options (jalapeno cheddar, smoked cheddar, regular american) and all were good. They also have the best onion rings around. Although, I'm not a fast food fan I have to admit that White Castle is still one of my guilty pleasures that I'll continue to enjoy when the crave hits. Tip - if this pandemic ever ends you may want to try White Castle for Valentines Day. Yes, you read that right!! A long standing tradition by reservation only White Castle decorates their restaurants and provides waiter service on Valentines day making it both the most cheesiest and also fun and unique experience. You may even see people coming in black tie!

Late night White Castle run.. delish

Out late? got hunger pains? or the ever popular-at least in my house---- "MA, were hungry can you take us to White Castle?" surrrrrrrrrrre It's the usual orders of lots and lots of sliders, chicken ring things, fries and pretty much anything they want to order. Its an epic feast of insane proportions and late night goodness, I'm always impressed on how much these kids can really pack away on a late night food fest. Service has always been pretty terrific and prices are reasonable. I know so many eat the frozen White Castle, I know I did when I lived in Cali and was jonesing for White Castle and that was my only every lovin' option, but do yourself a favor and have real White Castle meal at least once. It's a guilty pleasure I make no apologies for.

Double Jalapeno Sliders

I don't know about runs to White Castle after 2:00 am when the bars close. Never tried their sliders as a hangover cure. Haven't done a secret visit to pick up and devour their double cheeseburger brick packs tight in their white paper sacks. I don't relate to any of those attitudes and secret handshake pleasures. For me, White Castle has been a fun place to go for delicious onion juiced square burgers with holes since I was a kid and my father took me to my first one in Bayside, Queens, NY. We drove all the way out from Washington Heights, Manhattan. I was 8. The only thing he told me was that, "It is time to find out what great delicacies there are in America." He was so right. That first bite. My dad watching me to see my reaction, and breaking into a huge snorting guffaw when my eyes opened wide and I gasped in total pleasure. After that, the pilgrimage to Bayside became a monthly ritual. It was our bonding experience. My older sister never felt it. But, my friends came along sometimes and became part of the White Castle Club. When we moved to New Jersey, my father promised there were more WCs in the Garden State to encourage me that we weren't moving away from civilization. When my son was 8, we drove from Bucks County, PA, to Route 1 in Middlesex County, NJ, to introduce him to the glory of these sliders. It was over an hour away, but this right of passage had to be continued with the next generation. We continue this tradition as often as possible now that he is 18 and about to go to college. He assures me that any school he attends must have a White Castle with 50 miles. I believe him. He has a map on his bedroom wall with all of them across the Eastern USA pinned. So, when I found this store on RT 9 in Howell, NJ, on my way to a meeting, I had to stop and taste the flavor of my childhood and reminisce over a couple of double jalapeno sliders. For old times sake.

When I was driving in NJ, I saw White Castle sign on the exit sign. I had it a long time ago so I kinda forgot the taste of the food here. Also, my friend never had it and he wanted it because of Harold and Kumar. So we had to take a quick detour to visit this place. Due to Covid, the dining in area is blocked. No big deal. We got the share-a-meal no.8 (10 sliders, 20 chicken rings, and fries) and clam strips. The food was okay. I forgot how thin the patty in the slider is. The clam strip was pretty good but there were more fried doughs without clams. Overall, it was not bad and I mean you should try it if you have ever watched Harold and Kumar. However, it's not something that I would crave often.

I gotta confess I'm a 43 yo man that should not be eating this at 2 am in the morning. However sometimes when you've had too much to drink you need something bad to eat. I have to be honest. I stopped in this White Castle and took a chance. I am so thankful that my local White Castle did not make me regret eating this more then I could have. I got the for burger meal with fries, and 6 chicken rings. Everything was fresh. I enjoyed it very much until the belly bombs did what they do. At least it wasn't stale food and made me regret eating this at two am. Thanks White Castle for being fresh at 2 am. I'm gonna have to work out extra when I wake up and have buyers remorse.

I can't believe I waited so long to come back to Harvest. What was I thinking ?…read more We went out for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and Harvest turned out to be a great choice! The location is a little further than we would normally travel, but it was worth it. I loved all the farm to table foods they have. They even nicely promote all the partners they use right on the wall of the restaurant, so you know where all your food comes from. Everyone loved their meals! I had the Thai chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. It came with a side and I picked baked sweet potato wedges that were really good and so memorable that a week later I am still thinking about them. Other dishes ordered were the chicken salad and strawberry salad which my friends both enjoyed. Our server was very good and didn't rush us as we were just chatting up a storm. The restaurant suggests reservations which are a good idea, especially for dinner. I will definitely be back and can't wait to put Harvest on my restaurant rotation. Sorry no photos this time... the food was just so good and we were hungry!

Tucked away in a small town, you will find a cozy nook to discover American cuisine…read more Brand: 5/5 Harvest is a small restaurant in Farmingdale specializing in New American cuisine. The entrance stands out in this borough, despite its small size. I do think that sign with the wooden background reflected the cozy interior quite well with a homey style. The country décor on the walls also enhances the aesthetics. Website: 5/5 It wastes no time, for it immediately opens you to the menu where most of the items have their own images. I appreciated the minimalistic design where the understandable font provides you with the information. The basic description of the establishment does say that they rely on locally sourced ingredients. Ambiance: 5/5 Normally, dark interiors would not necessarily work for eateries unless they achieve a cozy vibe; which is what Harvest did perfectly. The wooden walls provide a sense of comfort underneath lights dim enough to not offend the eyes but bright enough to see. Despite the cramped space, I did think that the interior fitted the ambiance, along with the smooth country music playing over the radio. Service: 5/5 The staff was quite jovial and patiently explained a part of the menu. We had no issues with our orders. Wait Time: 5/5 I did wait awhile for the meals, though we managed to get our orders without any interruptions. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Grilled Chicken Thai Sandwich with no additional sides, with a free, complementary glass of water. It has ciabatta beard containing grilled chicken, spinach, cucumbers, and Thai sauce. I do not know if the signature sauce is authentically Thai, but I will say that I could barely tolerate the pungent taste and smell. I cannot say whether it is the feature. Every other part, such as the spinach and the cucumbers, definitely complemented the grilled chicken with a juicy taste. The ciabatta bread buns managed to hold their form, even as the contents started to fall off. Worth The Money?: 2/5 I will say that Harvest brand has as much of a highfalutin status as its prices. While the restaurant reflects the New American cuisine, it does not come off as condescending. Nevertheless, I still thought that the limited menu items just do not help with the prices. For the website, I would suggest a list of all the farms and independent distributors that Harvest relies on for ingredients, and to include a backstory about how Harvest began and where the name came from. I find local-sourcing incredibly important and commend Harvest for incorporating this into their business model. Concerning the food, I will say that the Grilled Chicken Thai sandwich did have suffice within the ambiance. The wait time it took to make the meal was appropriate enough. I will say that the wait time did feel long within the establishment, especially when no one else was around. Nevertheless, the service did make the food worth the wait and the ambiance worth immersing in. With all of this being said, would I say that the overall price would bring me back? Not really. Even the complementary water could not win me over when compared to the prices. Prestigious New American eateries tend to have a focus on specific consumer bases, and I am just not one of them. I do not score low on this part out of spite, rather based on my current station and many other people. I did tip the staff and I did have enough satisfaction with the meal. Rating: 4/5 Stars I do not know how Harvest would carry itself into the future, though I can see how it would suffice as a New American restaurant. Recommend To... Anyone with enough disposable income looking for a quiet restaurant.

The manager at the time, no idea who he was, came around the counter and was berating Derick. He kept telling him to spit it out but Derick anaconda'd the entire thing. It looked so painful. "YOU GOTTA SPIT IT OUT!" the manager yelled at him. His eyes were filled with tears and his entire face was purple but I swear to God that he did it. I thought he was legit gonna die. College turned him into a tech wiz or something, honestly I'm not sure exactly what his job is. But he was a legend. "Derickburger" was his nickname for the next few years of college lol. I came in to try their new menu items and ended up going all in--and honestly, everything delivered. What stood out right away is how much variety they have. Yes, the burgers are great (I tried the double American smash and the Oklahoma outlaw smash--both were juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly), but the menu goes way beyond that. I was especially impressed with the salads and bowls. I tried a mix including the chicken Caesar, crispy chicken bacon ranch, buffalo chicken, honey mustard, and the southwest avocado chicken, plus the avocado chicken burger bowl. Everything tasted super fresh, generous portions, and actually filling--not your typical boring salad situation. The wraps are also a great option if you want something quick but still satisfying. Now let's talk about the indulgent side--the Nashville hot chicken sandwich had the perfect kick, and pairing it with the Nashville hot chicken fries was a must. The Philly cheesesteak fries were absolutely loaded and easily one of my favorite things I tried. The California chicken BLT is another item I would definitely go back for. Overall, I love that you can go here whether you're in the mood for something lighter like a salad or going full comfort food with burgers and loaded fries. Everything felt fresh, flavorful, and made to order. Definitely worth checking out--and the best part is you can find these items at any of their locations.

The onion rings overall were tasty, however, despite most of them being cooked well, one of them was a little burnt. The sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious, however, the fries could have used a little seasoning. Overall, both beef burgers were delicious. They were well cooked and the toppings were fresh. We thought the bison burger was good but we would reccomend the beef patty over the bison burger (this may be because we prefer beef over bison). There were a lot of sweet potato fries and onion rings, however, the burgers were a little small. A bigger guy might need 2 burgers instead of one. Because of this, we thought it was a little bit pricey, but the sides were well priced. Overall, the staff was very friendly! Both cashiers asked if we needed help as we were waiting to order! The restaurant was also clean, and it was well decorated. If you decide to go, the restaurant has a similar feel to a restaurant like Smash Burger. We do reccomend trying this place out. The food was good despite little critiques, and we enjoyed the ambiance

But here I am, sharing the goods on a neighborhood restaurant that you have to try. My order was to-go, but they have tables to eat there if you want, and the ambiance is casual. They also offer sandwiches and pizza, but my reviews is strictly for the Mexican food they offer. If you know my reviews, then you know my dilemma with finding good Mexican food here in NJ, its far and few between, so I'm happy to report, I have found a place that I'll be visiting often. If you're ever craving Mexican food??! Like our family does, then, that's a yes, and ALWAYS, is probably the answer.. so I decided to stop here for a family "to-go" order. Taco order is 4 tacos your choice, I ordered 1 carnitas, 1 chicken, and 2 birria. My family loves chicken wings, so while I was at it, I ordered 6 to share.. and you know you have to have Jarrito's, so 4 bottles added. All orders were packed very well for travel and nothing spilled they use (earthchoice) containers. Service was friendly, fast and the restaurant is clea. Chicken tacos - meat was juicy, not dry, lots of flavor and little crispy bits from the grill, seasoned well and not overly salty like some places, plenty of chicken in each taco. Carnitas tacos- were a hit as well. Sometimes at restaurants, you'll get a good taco or two, but then lots of fat or the meat is dry and burnt, these carnita tacos had plenty of meat for each bite, definitely a winner, nothing burnt, I really liked them. Birria tacos - these two orders were gone so fast!! I'm lucky i got to even try them. Next time I'll have to buy an additional order. Some might like lots of dipping broth and at times I do too, but as we all know, sometimes we can't finish it, I'm happy to say, they give plenty of flavorful broth to dip all 4 tacos in, and there is enough left for a sip or two after you're all done. They were not greasy or tough, tender and had good bite. Family and I really enjoyed our lunch, great price for the food and I am very happy to support our local businesses here. Stop by its on the corner, private parking as well.

We ordered our drinks and were asked what type of free app we'd like. We opted for the boneless chicken wings. Then for entrees my wife and I both ordered sirloins, i opted for the combo with ribs, she got the steak by itself. We both asked for them to be cooked medium. Her steak was grey (well-done) mine was perfect. I cut mine in 1/2 and gave it to her. I ate a piece of my steak which was very nice. Then i cut into my ribs which turned out to be the driest ribs i've ever eaten. I literally had to grab my drink out of fear of choking (I'm not exaggerating). I've heard too many stories as to why you never send food back, so we opted to hold onto what we had. Sitting next to us was an older couple. They both ordered steak, the lady returned her steak as it was overcooked as well. By the time they brought her a new steak, her husbands steak was cold.
