I can't believe I waited so long to come back to Harvest. What was I thinking ? We went out for lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and Harvest turned out to be a great choice! The location is a little further than we would normally travel, but it was worth it. I loved all the farm to table foods they have. They even nicely promote all the partners they use right on the wall of the restaurant, so you know where all your food comes from. Everyone loved their meals! I had the Thai chicken sandwich and it was so flavorful and delicious. It came with a side and I picked baked sweet potato wedges that were really good and so memorable that a week later I am still thinking about them. Other dishes ordered were the chicken salad and strawberry salad which my friends both enjoyed. Our server was very good and didn't rush us as we were just chatting up a storm. The restaurant suggests reservations which are a good idea, especially for dinner. I will definitely be back and can't wait to put Harvest on my restaurant rotation. The entrance stands out in this borough, despite its small size. I do think that sign with the wooden background reflected the cozy interior quite well with a homey style. The country décor on the walls also enhances the aesthetics. Website: 5/5 It wastes no time, for it immediately opens you to the menu where most of the items have their own images. I appreciated the minimalistic design where the understandable font provides you with the information. The basic description of the establishment does say that they rely on locally sourced ingredients. Ambiance: 5/5 Normally, dark interiors would not necessarily work for eateries unless they achieve a cozy vibe; which is what Harvest did perfectly. The wooden walls provide a sense of comfort underneath lights dim enough to not offend the eyes but bright enough to see. Despite the cramped space, I did think that the interior fitted the ambiance, along with the smooth country music playing over the radio. Service: 5/5 The staff was quite jovial and patiently explained a part of the menu. We had no issues with our orders. Wait Time: 5/5 I did wait awhile for the meals, though we managed to get our orders without any interruptions. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Grilled Chicken Thai Sandwich with no additional sides, with a free, complementary glass of water. It has ciabatta beard containing grilled chicken, spinach, cucumbers, and Thai sauce. I do not know if the signature sauce is authentically Thai, but I will say that I could barely tolerate the pungent taste and smell. I cannot say whether it is the feature. Every other part, such as the spinach and the cucumbers, definitely complemented the grilled chicken with a juicy taste. The ciabatta bread buns managed to hold their form, even as the contents started to fall off. Worth The Money?: 2/5 I will say that Harvest brand has as much of a highfalutin status as its prices. While the restaurant reflects the New American cuisine, it does not come off as condescending. Nevertheless, I still thought that the limited menu items just do not help with the prices. For the website, I would suggest a list of all the farms and independent distributors that Harvest relies on for ingredients, and to include a backstory about how Harvest began and where the name came from. I find local-sourcing incredibly important and commend Harvest for incorporating this into their business model. Concerning the food, I will say that the Grilled Chicken Thai sandwich did have suffice within the ambiance. The wait time it took to make the meal was appropriate enough. I will say that the wait time did feel long within the establishment, especially when no one else was around. Nevertheless, the service did make the food worth the wait and the ambiance worth immersing in. With all of this being said, would I say that the overall price would bring me back? Not really. Even the complementary water could not win me over when compared to the prices. Prestigious New American eateries tend to have a focus on specific consumer bases, and I am just not one of them. I do not score low on this part out of spite, rather based on my current station and many other people. I did tip the staff and I did have enough satisfaction with the meal. Rating: 4/5 Stars I do not know how Harvest would carry itself into the future, though I can see how it would suffice as a New American restaurant. Recommend To... We discovered Harvest in 2018 (see my previous review) and have been coming here regularly since then. Always excellent whether we order specials or from regular menu. Last eve, Gena was our attentive and friendly server. We started sharing a tasty, large beet salad. For entrees, we had Dill Salmon and Cioppino, fisherman's stew. Both absolutely delicious. No room for dessert. Do prices seem high? Consider that this is a BYOB, you will save so much compared to ordering wine in a restaurant with a liquor license. Forgot to bring a bottle? No problem, there is a liquor store right next door. This eatery is small. So make a reservation especially if you are coming Friday or Saturday evening. read more

Having lived in Howell for the past 46 years, my husband and I decided to try this local restaurant. It's a very small restaurant with just an ok atmosphere. We both ordered the strip steak, which was recommended because of its "melt in your mouth" review. Although it was very tasty, it was far from melting in your mouth, and both of ours were quite chewy. It might've just been a bad night, but I wouldn't get it again. Our waitress, Sabrina, was very very good. She was very attentive without being pushy and very personal. She felt so bad we didn't like our steaks that she gave us free desserts. The prices were a little high, but maybe because it was a BYOB. We probably won't go again, but maybe it might've just been a bad night and you might wanna try it. read more

Eating here since their opening nearly 10 years ago we have enjoyed many delicious meals. The early years were awesome. But, that said we have watched them slowly go down hill over recent years. The food although still alright is overpriced and nothing memorable. The service compares to a dinner that is rushed and not very friendly or professional. We just had to go back after having been there a few weeks ago. It is the best beet salad, ever! I had the "surf and turf" which consisted of delicious local scallops and filet mignon. My husband had the chicken Milanese (which was enough for the next night). The desserts looked amazing from what we could being served around us, we just didn't leave enough room. Next time, I think we will split something so we can get one of their desserts. The staff is always friendly and efficient. We have dined here probably 8 times. The reception was always warm. It is a small location, and they would always accommodate a handicapped dining companion, with a comfortable table. The service has always been excellent, and prompt. Now to the food part, the preparation is always thoughtful and the food quality is excellent. They use local ingredients and even it is not the most extensive menu, there are adequate choices . I plan to dine with them again in the immediate future. It is a great local restaurant ! The only negative is there is not a great deal of room to wait if you arrive early. read more

Once again, a long hiatus and we were not disappointed. Harvest is still BYOB (a good thing, for sure) and reservations are recommended. We went with 4 other "Yelpers" and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Our server (Sierra?) was excellent - personable and cooperative with a group that had a lot of questions. She appeared to be working alone but that did not seem to have any effect on our meals. The dining room is comfortable and appears much as it did awhile ago. Appetizers were delivered quickly - we had the Oven Roasted Thai Chili Wings (good, but I expected a little more "heat"). Also shared an order of Mussels and they were excellent. Entree's consisted of the Harvest Pork Chop (2), Pork Loin (3) and an order of Shrimp and Brussels Sprouts. Everything came out piping hot and in a timely manner. Food is fresh and always made perfect. Little pricey but the quality is there! My favorites are the chicken salad sandwiches. The apple slaw is my personal favorite but cherry/bacon is also great! My wife and I had a reservation for 5:45pm on 7/11/25.It was my wife's 70th Birthday. When we arrived. The front of the restaurant had a large party. There was a table for 2. 2 tables that sat 4 at each table. They were going to sit us behind a large wall. Very dark. We said something to the manager and asked to move to a table wil more light. She told us we would have to cut our dinner short.There will be another reservation coming. The manager was very flipped about it. It seems they were more worried about the people after us. Then the people that was already there. We got up and left. I'm not going to spend the kind of money for dinner and be rushed. We will go back when she turns 70 again!!! This was not a great experience. First, it was 80 degrees inside the restaurant the whole time we were there (the bathroom was even hotter). Second, the food is very overpriced for what you get. Third, our server couldn't have been less interested in us. She didn't make eye contact, didn't tell us her name, barely checked on us, and when we were done she walked away muttering "have a good night" without even looking at us. Finally, I ordered a burger. When I eat a burger, I want to eat it with my hands - not with a knife and fork, which I had to do with this one because they loaded it with so much stuff, including sauces, that it instantly fell apart when I tried to pick it up and the bread was horribly soggy. (I didn't want to spend $42 on scallops, so my choices were limited.) I have had a couple bad experiences in a row here, so I think we'll retire this one from our restaurant rotation. Heading here tonight for an early Father's Day Dinner for the hubby!! I can't wait!!! and I bet you can't wait for the pictures of the Scrumdiddlyumptious food we are going to be eating!!! Mini-Me loved her sandwich and Hubby is so happy the clams in white wine broth is still on the menu, just so you know- he remembered to order extra garlic bread for the broth LOL.. The scallops once again he enjoyed and he even said he now enjoys polenta, (WTHeck?!) how does this happen??? something he never was fond off, I tell you.. this restaurant... is doing amazing things in expanding the foodie in my hubby!! and once again the salads here are fresh, crunchy and so darn tasty a meal in themselves. I ordered the Bell & Evans Chicken I want-- waittttt- no- I NEEEED that recipe for the sweet potato puree- I didn't leave even a bit on my plate and sauteed spinach with garlic, so yummy. Let's take the desserts here- I went with the apple dessert because it is THAT good and I even asked for extra honey to drizzle- no problem! but that chocolate bread pudding OMGoodness.. I tasted it twice and when I went to take a 3rd- I got "The look" from my otherwise cool-calm-and collected hubby-- and I knew--there was gonna be a rumble in Farmingdale if I even so much as nudged my spoon over to that dssert of his... Everything here is amazing and it's all locally sourced informed a table. Definitely need a reservation as the place is small but well worth it. I've gone a couple of times and every time the food quality and service was excellent. My only complaint is that the last time I was there I ordered the special which they read off to you but of course don't mention the price. When I got the bill I was surprised to see it was more than twice the price of the rest of the entrées. Harvest is a great local restaurant in Farmingdale NJ. Joy, our server, was attentive and friendly. The pace of the service was just right. It is quaint, so a reservation is a must. Most importantly, the food is excellent. They customize their menu selections based on the season. We ate there in Sept., so examples of ingredients included butternut squash, pumpkin, and apples. Everything is locally sourced and of high quality. My dining partner enjoyed the duck while I enjoyed the pork chop.with cranberry and red onion. First time eating here, and I highly recommend this wonderful little place. Food was phenomenal! My pork chop was the best I've ever had - very moist and not at all dry. My wife enjoyed her chicken & proscuitto dish over gnocchi. We also had the Mushroom Crepe app and Lobster Bisque, both excellent. Portions for both small plates and mains were large. Great ambiance - unpretentious and quiet enough for conversation. Attentive service. Others in the comments section mention this being pricey, but I think the prices are comparable and I've been in pricier restaurants that aren't nearly as good as Harvest. BYOB, which I love. I love this farm to table restaurant & how he switches up the menu according to the season & always with better quality foods. The food is amazing every time I go there. All of the servers are very helpful & always very friendly, which is a beautiful thing when you just want to go out to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner. It's a cute little place that offers outside seating on those gorgeous days where you just want to be outside. I would definitely recommend it to anyone no matter who it was or what they prefer to eat, as there's options for anyone. Definitely a must go to, if you haven't been there yet. Make sure you call to get a reservation! I'm not very choosy what restaurants I visit however my family would say differently. The three major factors are service, and quality and quantity of food. I've eaten in many restaurants in my life from the fancy to the hole in the wall. I can honestly say I've had varied experiences in all of them. Let me just Harvest fulfills all three of my criteria. Although it is quite a small establishment they manage to serve quality food. This recent stop was the second time we had visited the restaurant. The first time we were so happy with the food and service we could not wait to come back. Multiple times we were in the area and was sad to see that they were closed. On this day however it was open. We went late in the afternoon and did not have a reservation. The hostess/waitress was kind enough to provide seating for us although we were told about the time constrain due to reserved customer seating, we were fine with that. I went with my 2 grown children and my wife. We were told that no soup of the day was available and was sad due to the epic corn soup we had the last time. My wife was disappointed that Bell & Evans chicken was not available, but they were able to provide a substitute that my wife felt was just as tasty. I had the peach chipotle pork chop, cooked perfectly moist and tender, the mash potato substitute was delicious. My daughter had the flank steak special, medium rare. We also had the scallops, served over risotto and the beet salad. All delicious and quite filling. We were all satisfied after the meal and I might add the 1 waitress/hostess managed to fulfill our request all while serving the other customers. I only hope that this secret jewel in Howell is not destroyed by time and the rush of patrons. We will return, thank you chef for a great meal. read more

What a great little spot. Its a comfy farm to table place with a welcoming atmosphere and staff. I like how they put up on their wall where most of all their produce & proteins come from. We started with a Caesar salad and the grilled shrimp to start. Both were really really good; and the Caesar salad is probably on the top 5 best I've had. Also it's a big salad. The shrimp was really good on top of a bed of spinach and dressing. Delicious & fresh and big . We then got the duck for our main along with a special menu item, the surf and turf. Both were prepared perfectly. The duck was moist, and tender. It came with a side of green beans and mashed sweet potatoes. All delicious. My husband steak was cooked to perfection and the truffle sauce/gravy on it was such a great touch. We also enjoyed some dessert afterwards. We got the s'mores bread pudding and Wow. Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. We will definitely come back to try other dishes. read more

Harvest is a very quaint farm to table restaurant. They have a limited menu but they cover all of the bases. We started off with the squash soup, which we slurped all up! My brother and mother both got the pork chop & I had the quinoa bowl. There was A LOT of quinoa...too much to digest...so I took half home. They loved their pork chops however they were going to charge $5 for scalloped potatoes instead of sweet potato purée or wedges. That's unnecessary especially because the prices aren't cheap. He gives you giant portions & its BYOB so that makes up for the expensive cost. Our server was lovely and gave us everything we needed. Xoxo read more

I came here for a late lunch (3:30pm) with a friend after peach picking in Colts Necks. Service was friendly and the food was superb! I ordered the caesar salad with an add on of chicken. Best caesar I've had in a while and the chicken was juicy and moist. My friend got a side of sweet potatoes which I happily took one from to try and they were seasoned great and tender. I love the interior of the restaurant, and appreciate the signs on the walls that tell you where the ingredients came from (farm to table concept is great and wish more restaurants would adopt this concept.) read more
