In Howell Plaza, you will find a little spot where you can find bagels, subs, sandwiches, and…read moremuffins. Brand: 4/5 Outside, the sign outside the business did not reflect the logo used for the brand, which has an updated look. Despite the outdated sign, I will say that I like the new logo, since it has that western aesthetic that maintains a sense of classiness. Inside, the classic brown tiles of the floor have an inviting vibe, along with the glass counters showing the food. Website: 3/5 It welcomes you with the standard Slice theme that comes with restaurant website, but only at the bare minimum. Because it typically applies to pizzerias, this red-and-green theme works against the website, since it could mislead the consumers. Also, none of the menu items have any images accompanying them. Ambiance: 4/5 The television did blare a little bit, and the table we sat at was near the cleaning area, so that sink smell kept coming. Nonetheless, I did think that the chairs felt comfortable enough and the tables had a large enough space between them. The waiting counter has a wide enough space to bring anyone's order into view without it becoming a nuisance. Service: 5/5 The staff went through great lengths to ensure we had an accommodated experience. Wait Time: 5/5 We experienced no interruptions during our wait time, and the orders came quickly. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Italian, which is essentially an Italian sub with salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, lettuce, onion, tomato, mayonnaise, vinegar, and oil, with orange juice. The ingredients and the buns had a fresh, natural preparedness. The buns held their form even as the ingredients started to pour out. I will say that the flavor resembles the Italian subs from other restaurants, though in this case, the mayonnaise had the most profound flavor which complemented the sub well. I did think that it had too much grease on it. A rule of thumb of mine is if I need to use multiple napkins to wipe my hands, then the food is too greasy. Worth The Money?: 3/5 Concerning food, I think that it reflects the internal conflict of the establishment's identity. Is it Italian-based? Is it diner-based? A strong recommendation I can make is to provide some menu items so unique they set King of Bagels and Subs apart from the other eateries into its own niche buffer zone. Hybrid eateries do exist and I can see a bagel-and-Italian diner working, but I just do not see it with the website. The food works with the ambiance, since it will offer you many options with a clear space. Likewise, the meals had the appropriate amounts of wait time and service. I did not have to worry about waiting, since the staff care about their customers. I do think that while the logo does have a good design, it only works so much, since I do not know how much the business itself reflects off the theme, especially if the menu appears pretty standard. I would recommend including that logo into more spaces, including even the sign if becomes possible. I will say that the menu items can have a high price. Is the price ultimately worth it? Not unless you wish to support local businesses. Other than that, any issues beyond principles will not entice you to go to King of Bagels and Subs. Rating: 4/5 Stars I can see how this establishment could become the King of Bagels and Subs, with the Howell Plaza as its demesne and the consumers' happiness as its regal mandate. For now, I do not see it. Recommend To... Anyone who works around Howell Plaza and need a quick bite at any time of the day. I can easily see how the King of Bagels and Subs could serve someone three courses in a single day, whether breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner.

We ordered a Fettuccine Alfredo, a truffle grilled cheese, a blackened salmon sandwich and an eggplant Parmesan on a bed of pasta. We heard their pizza is good, but we weren't in the mood for pizza. The fettuccine was nice as was the truffle grilled cheese. I was told the blackened salmon was missing that little bit of spice usually found with a blackened dish. The eggplant Parmesan contained ricotta cheese between the slices which we were okay with, but the eggplant breading was a little overdone. For us, this place seems hit or miss and we're thinking we should have tried the pizza since that was a more popular dish. Maybe we'll get back there to try the pizza.

If you're going for kosher dairy food in Lakewood, this place is probably one of two good places in…read morethe area. Difference here is that these guys know dough and pizza, which means their pizzas (and dessert calzones) will be great. We went on a busy weekend and they had both indoor and outdoor seating. Pizzas were great, and some very funky. There's one with onion rings and bbq sauce, another with mini mozzarella sticks (which is basically just cheese on cheese), and more with roasted cauliflower or broccoli under some more cheese. My advice here is really to try and stick with the stuff with tomato sauce. Would be nice if they incorporated arugula or truffle like some of the more modern NYC Italian restaurants do. Appetizers is where it's at. We didn't try fries, but we did try the tuna tostadas (fish seemed pretty fresh and it was kind of like a crunchy rice), and the nachos (really good and cheesy). This place probably ain't a great idea if you're lactose intolerant. For dessert you definitely want to try the nutella/oreo calzone. Save room. Some minor issues I had was that the service was pretty lacking. Waiters didn't care to properly serve customers and seemed to have an impatient attitude. People that came to bring extra utensils didn't take back our dirty dishes, and for the second half of the meal our table was full of dirty plates. Also the bathroom was used as storage for other stuff, was not clean, and the camera to flush the toilet didn't work. They should put some more money into the staff, clean bathrooms a bit better, and maybe install camera systems for better management. Just my two cents.

YAY!!!! Driving back from AC we were hungry and I wanted breakfast, hubby chose here and it did not disappoint. We were actually seated at the last table available it was close to 1pm, we ordered coffee and I wanted apple juice- so for a large, they charge you for two smalls-*fine by me. I ordered the steak med rare and eggs over med with house potatoes and toast- Hubby had corn beef hash eggs fried hard, and french toast- his meal came with extra potatoes and toast. It took over 30 min to get out food- but it was super busy with some large groups and our server let us know about the delay--and with our coffee cups kept full, we were fine. Our food arrived and my steak was already cut, not sure how I feel about that, lol. My breakfast was tasty and hit the spot, hubby liked his, felt it was a bit short on the corn beef part, but he cleaned his plate lol-- we both agreed, we would be back again- as it is literally walking distance from home, NOT that either of us would ever temp fate- trying to cross RTE 9. 100% delicious long may may they prosper here in Howell

It was a quiet Monday, President's Day, late afternoon and coming back from a road trip. Brooklyn Square was the perfect pit stop! We had some pizza, some pasta and some salad and it was all really good. Our server highly recommended sandwich #17 and it was so good. I would have never ordered a grilled shrimp panini - - but this one was loaded with shrimp, avocado, broccoli rabe and fresh mozz -- SO GOOD - - definitely try that one! Service was also very good. Our server had so much patience - - it's hard to decide on an order because everything is so good! There's a reason Dave Portnoy gave Brooklyn Square a 8.9 rating - - the signature "upside down" pizza is so good. (Cheese on the bottom, sauce on the top). It's actually hard to even pick one slice - - so you'll have to go back and try other ones. My husband loves the eggplant rollatini....breaded eggplant rolled with ricotta, spinach, roasted red peppers with mozz on top - -that brings him back to Brooklyn Square every time! There are also quite a few other locations - Manalapan, Toms River, Bradley Beach, and the new Shrewsbury restaurant. I can't wait for them to open up their Marlboro location!
