Thought I'd add on to my previous review -- ordering that You Pick Two (this time with the cheaper Bacon Turkey Bravo) and mac and cheese is still just expensive, but adding a small fountain drink makes this total $16.50. Yikes. Food was fine, but considering you need to clean up after yourself and grab your own drink, is this seriously worth it? Take out's always been the move, but if there's something good about dine-in, you could probably just come in and spend however long you want to talk or study in the dining room. read more

Two half sandwich and soup specials including a drink and a bag of chips left my crisp fifty dollar bill in tatters. Went back to Panera almost 2 years later. I ordered a Grilled Cheese and Bacon on White Miche. Well not much has changed. The outside of the bread was as chewy as leather. The cheese was broiled to the point that no moisture remained. In another words, awful still! read more

If you want fast casual dining, cannot get better. I had a new Cuban chicken panini and chicken Caesar salad. I enjoyed this new sandwich. Creamy dressing and seasoned. I think Panera has one of the best Caesar dressing's. Don't judge!!! My wife had the French onion soup and lobster roll. First off, we didn't know this lobster roll was $16 dollars! Damn! I tried it and it was too chewy and didn't taste any seasoning. I would of been very upset with the meal, but she liked it. I will say, the French onion soup is the best!!! I always get the plum tea. No extra sugar and is the best tea they have. I enjoy going to this Panera for the outdoor seating during the summer time. Timing on receiving the meal meets my expectations. Price is effecting the rating. They are starting to increase higher and higher. Just turns me away when a sushi place down the street, gives more the value. read more

Been here a few times and while it's not fantastic you get a fairly good sandwich for not a great deal of money. The ordering process is a bit bothersome but you do get a beeper that lets you know when your meal is ready. I ordered a turkey sandwich on whole grain bread which had bacon and avocado on it. Amazing food and the staff are so kind. I love to get the Grill cheese and it comes out looking and tasting so delicious ( I am the most picky person ever).It isn't that dirty. Also, my favorite drink is the papaya green tea and they are always filling the drinks if they are low. The food comes out so fast but so fresh at the some time. Do recommend. I had never eaten at Panera Bread before, in part, because the idea of quick comfort food just didn't appeal to me, and the other reason being that I just didn't know what they served. For a week, I have been on a very specific diet, and needed a good salad place to go to. Upon my search for salad places, I found out that Panera Bread offered a wide assortment of customizable salads to-go. I was thrilled with this realization, and headed over to the location in Howell. Inside the restaurant, there was an option to order on this ipad style screen. I ordered a Green Goddess salad (no shame), and eliminated the bacon, adding cucumber instead. I paid and waited. While waiting, I was able to look around at the menus, and was surprised to note how many healthy options they had. I always thought of Panera Bread as, "the home of the bread bowl", never kale salads and cold brew. I picked up my order further down at a second counter, and ate in my car. I have to say the salad was excellent. It had chicken, avocado, some type of onions, and they also gave me a free complimentary baguette slice (which I gave to someone at home, as I am no carbs). The salad dressing was unusual, in a good way, unlike anything I had tasted before. I believe it was cilantro based, or consisting of some other type of leafy green that gave it a stand-out flavor. It was the dressing that came with the salad. It was overall, a very filling meal that was enjoyable and pleasant. I will be back, and am happy to inform that Panera makes a great salad. Whether I'm late to the party, or not, I am unsure, but at least now I know I'm invited. read more

I come here for breakfast a lot. There always seems to be issues here. The coffee urns 6:15-9:15 empty or not hot. People always seem to be waiting around for someone to refill the coffee. Ron, is one grumpy employee. Okay dude, if you are having a bad day don't be on the register. Go sit in the back and cut bread. People lined up waiting for their coffee. Worst Panera ever. Waited 10 minutes to order (quick self serve ordering pad was occupied, and the second one was broken). Only two people were on line ahead of me. Then waited 10 minutes for food. Got served Mac and cheese with a hair super visible right on top. Oh, and no real spoons available--only plastic. Yum. Love the taste of hot plastic. Anyway, returned the mac because of the hair. I always go for the combo... usually salad and soup w/ bread bowl.. but this time I went for the salad and the mac&cheese combo. I've had the mac&cheese before and its really delicious.. but this time it wasn't that warm and kinda was just like a blob of mac&cheese. It may have been because I went on an off hour of the day.. i dunnooo... I'm slightly confused on the bad reviews for Panera, this one in particular. I've been going to the Panera in Howell for a few years now and have never had a bad experience. The only aggravation I experienced was the day they stopped making the ham and swiss breakfast soufflé, it's absolutely delicious, and I was NOT a happy camper when it was removed from the menu. But then to my surprise it was brought back! The servers seem nice and courteous, the food is pretty good. I don't really feel the prices are that bad, they are a little more than other establishments but not overboard. I love the French Onion soup and the panini's. The only gripe I have is with the rewards program. It's ok. You get free items every 6 or 7 visits, but why don't I get a free soufflé? I go to Panera for breakfast on my way to work a couple times a week and I always get the ham and swiss soufflé, yet every reward I get is a bagel! I don't buy bagels so why give me one as a reward? And it's just one after the other. At one point I think I had about 3 or 4 free bagels stacked up and they just expired because I do not want bagels! If you see that I am a regular and I purchase the same thing every time I come in, then I should receive that item as a reward once in a while, not something I do not eat over and over. This costs a star for me. I wish they would fix this aspect of the rewards program. Mmm, i'm getting hungry just thinking about those soufflé's.... read more

I've been going to the Howell Panera since they've opened. However the last couple of times I've gone, the service was horrible. They had one girl at the register and the line was out the door. There was no coffee in the regular coffee urn and no milk or cream in the pitchers. I asked someone to refill the coffee urn but it never happened. There were also flys on the pastries behind the glass. These should be totally covered. Plus there was no soap in the woman's bathroom dispenser. I think they need a wake up call and get back to good business and customer service. read more

I was really kind of surprised to see such low reviews to this place. Albeit, this was my first check-in, but I have been here a million times and never encountered a problem with the food or service. It is most definitely in one of the busiest strip malls in town. So, with that, you are going to have mistakes made and maybe some under-staffing. However, you know before you walk in the door where you are and how much you are paying for a sandwich and soup, so for people to review based on their corporate-decided prices, to me, is not fair. As I said, I have been here lots of times and never had a bad experience. The food is good, it's quick to come out, even on the busiest afternoons, (was there during a lunch rush today, and it took less than 10 minutes for our food), and while the staff does look a bit overworked, they have never been rude or unprofessional. This restaurant is absolutely absurd. The customer service, the wait time, the hygiene, the food itself, horrible. My daughter and I decided to go to this Panera location for a late brunch and were highly dissatisfied with it. When we got up to the register, the cashier was awfully rude and rushing. She couldn't get my order right for the love of God. I understand the overwhelming feeling of a cashier, but to mess an order as simple as a chicken caesar salad with bacon and cucumbers should not be this difficult. My daughter had just ordered a grilled cheese. The wait time to get my order was 40 minutes or more, with little to almost no people at the restaurant. When the food came, her grilled cheese was like ice. And my salad had been soggy and tasted like it had been made days prior. The bread I received was as hard as a rock. For the amount of money I payed, we should have gotten better. The water tastes like sink water and the hot chocolate my daughter had gotten was grey and reheated in a microwave. When it was time to leave, my daughter had forgotten her cellphone at the table, and as she was walking in to retrieve her cellular device, the manager came out frustrated with it and pushed the door into her, and basically threw her phone at her. We did not think much of it until we got home, so nothing was done at the scene. But overall, from my personal experience and as an old supporter of this Panera Bread location, I will no longer be coming back, even if it meant life or death. read more
