Chicken Thai Green Curry Sauce
R B.

Haven't been here in a while and tonight's meal was just okay. The green curry didn't have enough broth but that flavors were great. Some veggies were cut far too large. The gyoza was good. The Thai basil beef was very strong of flavor kinda too salty. The service is always good. Maybe just an off night.

"Pad See-Ew", sike Pad Thaiiii

Came in for lunch special. Ordered spicy salmon roll and tofu pad see ew. Spicy salmon roll was delicious, and surprisingly fresh! However- the pad see ew was definitely more a pad Thai, thin pho noodles, with lime, cooked very pad Thai style. I was disappointed and sad because I was in the mood for some savory wide noodles. In other news, service was friendly and quick, and ambiance was cool. I would come back for the sushi and maybe just soup next time.

Chicken? Teriyaki

Chicken teriyaki looked glossy and I honestly couldn't tell what I was eating. We tossed it after tasting it. Yellow curry was tasteless and veggies were mushy. Again tossed it after a few bites. 2 of the 4 items ordered were incorrect. We've eaten here before and it was decent but unfortunately $40 down the drain. This place is a no go for us anymore. Service was okay, however they messed up 2 of the 4 orders. Ambiance was clean.

Located in a typical strip on Rt 9, this restaurant was established over 50 years ago. One gets a sense of pride upon entering. Everything seems in order here. The pace is just right, not too fast nor too sluggish. Since I did not have too much time to spare, I ordered a shrimp pad Thai and a Kani salad to go. The meal was excellent and quite large for $13. A real clean and orderly place. PS Though the Kani salad was small, it was very tasty. You can order it plain or spicy. Don't order it if you're allergic to seafood, it's crabby.

I really wanted to like this place. I did! But, unfortunately the food is not good. We came here tonight to give it a 2nd chance. Tried the pad see ew (which is Thai) - this was not good at all!! What an embarrassment to Thai food. Don't think we'll be coming back ever again!

I had already devoured some of the rolls before taking this photo.

Glad my fiancé's getting the hang of using Yelp because now I (not so much we - lol) have an awesome sushi place to go to! I'm usually iffy about going to a restaurant that serves more than one type of cuisine because the food just tastes...confused... If that makes any sense. Anyhow, I noticed that the restaurant's online menu featured more Japanese dishes so I took the safe route and ordered the Sweet Heart Roll for $16. It came with a side of salad. To my surprise, both were delicious! Thank goodness. My fiancé, on the other hand, went with Beef Pad See-Ew for $13 and Walnut Shrimp that came with 6 shrimps over a sad bed of greens sprinkled with a few plain walnut halves, miso soup and white rice for $15.95 (yikes). I warned him... The Beef Pad See-Ew overall texture was perfect (beef was amazing), but the flavor... There was a strong licorice flavor from the spice, star anise, that just doesn't quite belong. Walnut Shrimp was soooo not the walnut shrimp I've ever ordered from a Chinese restaurant. It's not bad. It was surprisingly good with the sauce, but not what either of us would call "Walnut Shrimp". If you're looking for the real deal then hit up an authentic Chinese restaurant for a plate definitely worth $15 of fried shrimp and HONEY walnuts. The miso was delicious, btw. We didn't try the rice.

Take out sushi from Asian Harbor

I'm very picky about my sushi places. After this place was recommended by a friend multiple times, I decided to give it a shot. I ordered take out as it was just for me and I only live about 10 minutes away. I got the 7 piece sashimi (chef's choice), a specialty roll, a regular roll and 2 sauces on the side. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, I know! I ordered and paid online. I called when I arrived to pick it up and the gentleman actually brought my order out to my car! The sushi was fresh, tasty and packed perfectly and was still chilled when I got home. I would definitely order from here again.

Fried shrimp and fried vegetables

Went here the other day as the only ones inside. Started with the miso soup and fried shrimp appetizer. It was pretty good I thought, I got the lunch special of sushi was the chefs choice of sushi. Really good, and the service was great. Definitely a good sushi spot!

Nagoya

For years, I had come to Friendship Plaza, though I never took the chance to the go to Nagoya. I…read moregot the chance and I will say that the food perfectly represents the concept of friendship. Brand: 5/5 Nagoya is a Japanese restaurant located in Friendship Plaza in Howell Township. I do like the brush stroke of the logo, which shows well on the entrance sign and the leather-bound menu. Website: 3/5 I do like the first impressions that Nagoya's website gives you, with an image of the sushi and an option to select "Pick Up and Delivery," which leads you to their usage of the app MenuSifu. The gallery of images of the food do provide a glimpse into the establishment's cuisine. While a couple of the menu items had images, most of them did not. It should be noted that Nagoya has unusual time lapses in terms of when they are open or closed, which the Yelp description provides a better format for explaining it than the website does. Wait Time: 5/5 I experienced no delays or disruptions during the wait time. Ambiance: 5/5 This Japanese restaurant has the unique ambiance of having multicolored lights shown upon the glass walls, while the dimmed lights gave the interior a cool vibe. This includes the dark color of the tables and the seats, all of which felt comfortable. I can clearly see how this establishment would be used for celebrations. The well-spaced tables percolated throughout the large space. The music showcased Japanese Christmas songs throughout the establishment. Food: 4/5 I ordered the Alaskan Roll, which consists of salmon, cucumber, and avocado. The vegetables gave the special roll its sharp, distinct taste. Clearly, I can see how Alaska would have a major theme in the roll with the presence of salmon. The rice and the nori sheet did not stay, and the sushi rolls did fall apart, though I did think that the rice and the other ingredients had good texture. Service: 5/5 The staff managed to provide my order without any issues. Worth The Money?: 5/5 The Alaskan Roll perfectly represents the brand of Nagoya, as among its selection of unique sushi rolls. I personally suggest creating a more unique rolls, for I would be curious as to what they would taste like. Indeed, the website provides you with many other selections of Japanese cuisine. You can also expect to find your sushi roll well-tended despite the nori sheet and the wait time it took to make them. Throughout my meal, the ambiance greatly matched the experience. The service matched the food well, since the meal had the sushi roll, the wasabi, and the yellowtail available. Concerning the first impressions of Nagoya, I definitely did not expect the establishment to have the more upbeat ambiance compared to other Japanese restaurants I went to. I will say that it did give me a new experience, despite the website's presentation. As such, the ambiance never once tried my patience while awaiting my order. I can see how the staff managed to keep the establishment cared for. I will say that the Alaskan Roll and the experience overall managed to match the price and make it worth it. Rating: 5/5 Stars With an establishment like Nagoya, I see plenty of hope for improvement and it will continue to represent Friendship Plaza pleasantly. I would definitely consider Nagoya my second choice when searching for Japanese restaurants in the Howell Township area. Recommend To... Anyone wandering around the large Friendship Plaza if they go to the Shoprite there if they are looking to try Japanese cuisine.

Wow - this was a truly excellent sushi option when we were in Jackson. Great special rolls and very…read morereasonable lunch specials that even included some rolls normally considered special elsewhere. Please serve tea in a pot for those who want it. Also, the bubbles in the bubble tea were WAY overcooked to the point of exploding. Please either cook them correctly or don't serve it at all. Skip the drinks and go for the sushi! It was delicious, very generous, beautifully presented and very fresh.

Brand: 5/5 I appreciate the vivacious logo of Ichi Sushi, for the bouncy letters invite the community to the sushi restaurant, and the artsy fish prepares you for what to expect. You will find the simplistic Japanese interior inside, from the paintings to the glass wood tables. I really like the leather-bound menus that the restaurant has. Website: 4/5 The website opens up to an option to order online, along with a gallery of photos of the menu items. While the website maintains a simple design, it does not specifically describe the menu items in the gallery. The menu items only had a few images in the Order Online section. Ambiance: 5/5 The pop music over the radio had the right amount of volume, soft enough to match the minimalistic appearance. The booths and tables had enough space between them despite being a medium-sized establishment. I am not sure if the lights being off are a normal occurrence, but I cannot say that it outweighed my experience with the ambiance. Service: 5/5 The staff was incredibly accommodating, asking if I needed anything else. Wait Time: 5/5 I did not experience any interruptions and the order came within a very short span of time. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Beauty Beast Roll, which consists of tuna, salmon, yellowtail, spicy mayo, avocado, tobiko, and scallion, with a side of wasabi. I will say that nobody makes a spicy sushi roll like Ichi Sushi. The huskiness of the avocado and the fish manage to give the roll a unique taste, while the tobiko, the mayonnaise, and the scallion manage to give it a tangy flavor, while the wasabi brings the zest. The preparation of the dish manages to match the form, since none of the roll slices fell apart, even as I lifted them with my chopsticks. Worth The Money?: 5/5 I have not had a sushi roll since I was 13, and I welcomed it back this time. Apparently, sushi rolls so unique they practically have their own personalities is a tale as old as time for sushi restaurants; and Ichi Sushi managed to succeed. So many unique sushi rolls exist well-worth the wait. I did knock off a star for the website not having enough photos of the menu items, since Americans typically do not familiarize themselves with Japanese cuisine, with the exception of sushi and teriyaki sauce. However, I do not think that it works against the overall experience, since there is always opportunity to try such vibrant dishes. Ichi Sushi thrives in its simplicity pertaining to the ambiance. It reflects the Japanese restaurant in many aspects. Despite the dimmed lights, the ambiance of the establishment during the wait did not feel tedious, especially since I was able to read what I was writing. The website only does so barely, but nothing substantial enough to really entice people to take an interest in Japanese cuisine. I would recommend doing something with the website, such as writing entries about unique Japanese word meanings and which Japanese meals are most popular during different time periods. I did pay up to $20 for the Beauty Beast sushi roll, though it was one of the more exclusive sushi rolls with unique selections known as the Special Raw Rolls. There are cheaper sushi rolls and Japanese courses available. Ultimately, I will say that Ichi Sushi is definitely worth it, and I would absolutely make it my first choice if I am in the mood for Japanese cuisine nearby. Another personal suggestion I have is to keep making new Special Raw Rolls. Rating: 5/5 Stars I am truly grateful to come to Ichi Sushi. Recommend To... Anyone looking to try Japanese cuisine with a unique New Jersey twist. There are options for cooked sushi, but if you would like the traditional sushi, then be my guest. I also recommend to anyone looking for a writing space that can entice you with a unique sushi roll at every time you go.
