Ambiance: 5/5 I do like the blue, twinkly lights upon the upper parts of the wood-paneled walls that gave the establishment a calm, cool vibe, along with the smoothly low volume of the pop music. There is a large circular light at the center of the ceiling, which I presume is turned out at night or during special events. The seats felt comfortable and the booths and the tables had a tolerable space. Be advised that it is authentically Asian in the sense they do not have forks or knives, rather only chopsticks. So, please know how to use them before coming. Food: 5/5 I ordered the Dream Roll, which is a specialty roll consisting of steamed shrimp, avocado, cucumber, and topped with lobster salad, seaweed salad, and honey sauce. I did enjoy the shrimp which gave it a hearty taste along with the avocado, seaweed, and honey sauce. I should forewarn that their wasabi did get pretty zesty, for it was not the diluted store-bought version (and most certainly not pistachio ice cream). Even as I ate half of a sushi roll, it still held its form and did not completely break apart. Clearly, this specialty roll is a dream encapsulated within a roll. I also had a side of water that came free of charge, which I wish more restaurants start doing more for a liquid that takes little effort to acquire. The prevalence of seafood and vegetables managed to help me get a more healthy meal. Service: 5/5 The owner served during a slow time and accommodated me throughout my time there. Worth The Money?: 5/5 The allure of the specialty rolls and the presence of Japanese and Thai food reflects the brand of Asian Harbor perfectly. Food can definitely speak in a universal language through the sensation of taste. What Asian Harbor tells me is that it has a lot to offer Aldrich Plaza. The website I would say does not evoke the aesthetics well, particularly considering how Americans typically know little about China and Japan (and even little about the rest of Asia). It would help to perhaps teach some Japanese or Thai words and history on the site. At no point did the wait for the Dream Roll feel cumbersome when accounting for the ambiance. The soothing atmosphere made it easy for me to wait as I wrote, and it fits the brand quite well. Just as well, the atmosphere let me immerse myself into the Dream Roll, as though the experience itself was a dream. Overall, I could find nothing seriously wrong about Asian Harbor. My experience was too pleasant to give it a low score. Considering the status of the Dream Roll as a Specialty Roll, I expected it to have a high price, which comes with the ingredients packed into it. I would absolutely consider it my first choice for Asian cuisine, and I would say that the price is worth it. My review will be about the food- but right now I am talking tea- I do not know what brand they have here, I really should ask- but when I usually eat sushi I like soda or ice water, but the tea here is so good, I find that I probably drink a pot or two during my meal. Probably doesn't matter to some, but in case you like tea, the tea here is really good. Ok, I enjoy the godzilla roll- and the tuna tataki, they always have the fish I am craving at the time and mackerel is an all time favorite of mine- I often have been dining with friends and they don't like this particular fish, I find it really an all time favorite and if it's on the menu I do order it. Hubby usually get the pain inthe ass roll and the lobster roll, he will eat sushi or sashimi, but he is more of a roll person. I can say that sometimes after I get off work at 7p, it's all I can do to just make it home, but calling in an order or online- is super easy, food is ready and always quality and packaged well for transport. However- the pad see ew was definitely more a pad Thai, thin pho noodles, with lime, cooked very pad Thai style. I was disappointed and sad because I was in the mood for some savory wide noodles. The sushi was exceptional. We also tried the beef amprigwoow (sp?) that was really good as well as the salad and soup. All fresh and tasty. But the star of the meal was the sushi. Glad my fiancé's getting the hang of using Yelp because now I (not so much we - lol) have an awesome sushi place to go to! Anyhow, I noticed that the restaurant's online menu featured more Japanese dishes so I took the safe route and ordered the Sweet Heart Roll for $16. It came with a side of salad. To my surprise, both were delicious! Thank goodness. My fiancé, on the other hand, went with Beef Pad See-Ew for $13 and Walnut Shrimp that came with 6 shrimps over a sad bed of greens sprinkled with a few plain walnut halves, miso soup and white rice for $15.95 (yikes). I warned him... The Beef Pad See-Ew overall texture was perfect (beef was amazing), but the flavor... There was a strong licorice flavor from the spice, star anise, that just doesn't quite belong. Walnut Shrimp was soooo not the walnut shrimp I've ever ordered from a Chinese restaurant. It's not bad. It was surprisingly good with the sauce, but not what either of us would call "Walnut Shrimp". If you're looking for the real deal then hit up an authentic Chinese restaurant for a plate definitely worth $15 of fried shrimp and HONEY walnuts. The miso was delicious, btw. I'm very picky about my sushi places. After this place was recommended by a friend multiple times, I decided to give it a shot. I ordered take out as it was just for me and I only live about 10 minutes away. I got the 7 piece sashimi (chef's choice), a specialty roll, a regular roll and 2 sauces on the side. Although Asian Harbor has been here for about 5 years, I never noticed it before. Being in a strip mall I overlooked it in the past but will surely be returning. It is decorated befitting an Asian restaurant. There's a sushi bar towards the rear with both booth and table seating available. There were Chinese, Japanese, and Thai offerings and many pages of food to sift through. Sushi, sashimi, & special rolls abound, along with tempura. I decided on a Thai walnut shrimp on a bed of Asian noodles. It came with miso soup and a salad with an Asian dressing. I asked if they could make it spicier than normal. The waitress said she'd see what she could do. The salad was plain but the dressing was good. The miso was excellent and the shrimp were moist, fresh tasting, & delicious. The waitress brought out an extra side sauce with my shrimp that was spiced up nicely. BYOB, very reasonably priced, sushi ultra fresh (I tried my wife's), and excellent service. Asian Harbor appears to be a mom & pop restaurant evident by the young children around the servers. Miso soup came with the meals which was excellent, as well as a tasty house salad with a ginger dressing. I ordered 2 sushi rolls, the Monkey Roll & the Sweetheart roll. The monkey roll has crabmeat, shrimp, fresh mango with a fried banana slice on top. It sounded interesting however I found it to be a bit too sweet. The sweetheart roll with shrimp tempura, spicy tuna & avocado was delicious. Prices are quite reasonable & the atmosphere is very relaxing. Not once did we feel rushed to enjoy our dinners. Ordered a pickup of a sushi and sashimi combo dinner with a spicy tuna roll and a salmon and avocado roll. Disappointed is not strong enough a word to explain what I picked up. When ordering I was given the choice of hand rolled rolls or regular rolls. I choose hand rolled. They could have been hand rolled, but rolled a week ago. Rice was hard and partially uncooked and the tuna and salmon inside the rolls was a paste with no flavor. Passing on the rolls for the dinner, nothing changed. Hard rice in the sushi and past its prime rubbery fish in both the sushi and sashimi. Thank heavens the soup and salad were okay. I have been coming to Asian Harbor for few years now. I order usually chicken red curry which is amazing if you can find the chicken in the dish as lately every time I order they get very stingy on the chicken. At first I thought it was an accident but after few more times and especially last week when I ordered and I found two pieces of chicken a size of a quarter I called and I complained. They did not seem to care much but they offered me a credit. I ordered the same dish today and again the amount of chicken was negligible. The dish is $17.00 and a pound of chicken is $2! If you want repeat customers you can't cut orders and expect people not to notice. Needless to say my family or me will not be ordering from Asian Harbor again or at least not any time soon. read more

Owners did a nice job renovating the space - very clean aesthetics and well laid out. Unfortunately the atmosphere is ruined by two televisions (although to give credit, they were muted), and horrible music. Happily enough, that can be fixed; just trade in the Alvin & the Chipmunks and bad rap for something a bit more suitable. The food is good, especially the Chinese rock shrimp appetizer we ordered (go figure!), but the Japanese dishes are strangely interpreted, though tasty enough. Shumai is served without mustard, agedashi dofu served with dashi on the side and likewise, no daikon nor scallions to accompany. On a similar note, Unagi donburi is served with the eel carefully separated from a pile of sushi rice. The eel was, by the way, decent quality, and I'm sure if asked, could be served in a more traditional fashion. We did not order any of the Thai dishes and cannot comment there. Despite indications to the contrary, the restaurant does not accept American Express. Since their take-out menus currently list it as accepted, they should post a sign on the door making it clear for those like myself who do not carry another card and very little cash! read more
