I don't know of any customer facing business that was significantly improved by an infusion of MBAs and the accumulation of massive debt but time will tell here. I grew up with Mike's subs, and whenever I left the state (for college, job, etc.) , it was one of the first places I headed to when I visited. Now, sadly, the quality is uneven, very uneven. It's either overly wet or has no oil and vinegar; it sometimes has very slim pickings when it comes to meat and cheese. How sad. I've never been to the Point Pleasant Beach branch but there is a Jersey Mike's right down the street from me in Sea Girt. I guess it would be Manasquan. The only real complaint I have is their prices. Any sandwich that costs over $20 when I'm not getting anything special on it is too expensive. They call a regular size sub a "giant" like you'd be able to cut it up and a whole family could eat one. Give me a break. Also be wary of all the fake reviews. I've been to the Jersey Mike's in Manasquan about 1/2 a dozen times or I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving a review. No service- Nothing ever constituted or justified an almost $30 sub. read more

Bread was hard 2 out of 4 subs made wrong. Had to tell the slicer 4 times what the order was then had to ask the dresser to remove the cheese from the sandwich he made wrong. Next two sandwiches were made correct and the last one was made with pepperoni not salami after restating the order 4 times. Used to go here all the time until they hired that pus filled pimply faced girl. She would scowl at me when I ordered my sub. Arrived at prime lunch time - 12:30. The line was to the door but I didn't mind waiting. The first gentleman on the slicer took my order which was a regular #8 Club Sub on Rosemary Parm bread (my favorite!). The girl in the middle who was topping everything had to stop to make some phone orders so we waited. My boyfriend got a giant #13 Italian sub. After she put everything together, she threw our subs to the register gentleman who was very sweet. She then told him they are "switching" and she took over on the register. For a half sub, full sub, small bag of chips and a drink the total came to $35!!!!! I knew something was off - turns out the girl charged me extra for the bacon on my CLUB sub. Went to get my fountain drink and there were no lids or straws and the counter was soaked. On a whole "super sub", there was only 2 slices of each meat, the thinnest 2 slices of provolone, about a head of lettuce, no spices (as ordered), and absolutely no taste whatsoever. Ok so I've been to Jersey Mike's.......in Texas. But never to one in New Jersey, so why not the go to the one they dub the "New Original" The Original store in Point Pleasant isn't open anymore so this place is store #1 as far as the franchaise goes. As with all Jersey Mike's the subs are great, no question about that. This one is slightly different. You can only get white bread, but it's white bread that is freshly baked right down the street at the original bakery that's been doing it since the beginning. So that's pretty cool. And for some reason they didn't have lemonade in their array of fountain drinks. As for the subs, it's all the same you expect, and being that I reviewed a Jersey Mike's before, I will say it again. If you've never been, start with the roast beef. They make it in house, although with this peticular store, it might be made locally like the bread as well, not sure on that one. I believe this is the original jersey Mike's location. I was greeted with a smile and there is ample parking in the parking lot to get in and out . I ordered a jersey special which was delicious and served on extra squishy bread and had a tasty root beer. The bathroom was clean and amply stocked with extra rolls of toilet paper and paper towels and I like how there is an extra young man roving the store: wiping down the tables and tidying up the chairs-at this location details definitely matter. In all the years this place has existed, I had never gone. Now in the last few months I've been to 2 of them. One in Texas and now the "New Original" in Point Pleasant. It is a good version of a classic Jersey sub. When you come here you know the food will be consistent. Again I had the Roast Beef (made in house), but this time ate it right there as opposed to the last time when I took it on the plane with me and didn't eat it until the next day. This time, no soggy bread. They usually have a choice of white or wheat bread, but this store does not make the bread in house so they only offer white. Not a huge deal. The sandwiches are a bit on the spendy side. Roughly $7.50 for a half, but it is a pretty good size and they stuff it pretty well with meat and veggies. Really the subs are just average, (no Boars head), but a family member was craving any kind of sub this week and Jersey Mike's was the closest. They screwed up the order, as this Point Beach Jersey Mikes always does, but I was just happy to spend $9 dollars less for a cheesesteak here after getting ripped off at Whitehouse subs in Atlantic City last weekend. Subs and Mexican food have the highest markups in the food industry. Way more than the standard 300 percent markup, but Whitehouse in AC is just ridiculous. $25 for a skinny tasteless cheesesteak in the Hardrock and suckers (like me that day) pay that all the time. There're over 2,000 Jersey Mikes stores. They need to put one in AC. read more

I've heard a lot about Jersey Mike's and it's funny that until this weekend, I hadn't eaten at a Jersey Mike's even though I lived in New Jersey for 14 years. On the whole, this restaurant is not bad. It looked clean and there is an outdoor seating area for when the weather is good. Also, the advantage of locating this restaurant just a bit outside the downtown area is they have their own parking lot. While back home in Jersey, we just had to visit the original Jersey Mike's sub shop. June and I used to eat here back in the day when we were still in High School (back when ships still had wooden decks and were powered by sail...LOL). The shop is well lit with huge windows for natural lighting, and it's very clean. The staff was very friendly. I mentioned to them that we used to eat there like forty years ago, and that we now lived in SoCal. There are a couple Jersey Mike's out by us now (one in San Marcos and one in Vista) and we just had to compare...LOL. I had my favorite, the #2, which is ham, cappocola and provolone. Had to have it Mike's way which is lettuce, tomato, onion with celery salt and vinegar and oil. It was absolutely wonderful! June had the Tuna, Mike's way, and it too was awesome. The shops out in SoCal, I am happy to report, are doing it just like Mike would have wanted. Our trip to Jersey Mike's in Point Pleasant was well worth it. Never learn my lesson. I live in point pleasant and usually do not go to Jersey Mikes for a sandwich because their meat gives me acid reflux and gas. I went there today for the first time in 3 years and wouldn't you know it, upset stomach. I always eat Boars Head meats and nothing else. JM meats are from ??? Correct, no one knows because they put their own name on the meat. Will never go again for sure now, I thought maybe something changed but nope. By the way, they have a kids working there who don't listen to what you want on a sub either. They are like machines that have been trained to make sandwiches. Ordered a BLT and was told they were cooking more bacon because they ran out? Really? Run out of cooked bacon at 2 in the afternoon July 4th weekend? We waited for 15m until more bacon was cooked.
