Just finished working a tough game. I-294 was a parking lot southbound, so my strategy was to grab a quick dinner and try later. Good plan. I picked White Castle - why? Because there are none within a reasonable drive distance of where I live, and I get a taste (crave, taste, potato, tomato) for them on occasion. Anyway, getting in from LaGrange Road takes some maneuvering when southbound, but I made the left turn and then the quick right, and was in. I waited patiently until they could take my order, so I ordered 6 White Castle burgers, a small order of fries, and a small drink. The drink machine is one of those wonders of Coke. I had a Cherry Fanta. My tongue is still red, but that tasted good. The 6 "sliders" were served nice and hot, with grilled onions. The fries were straight out of the fryer. I went through the drive-thru with my boyfriend, who ordered two chicken sliders. When we got to the window, we saw a young white male preparing orders and handing them off. Then, an obese Hispanic female approached the window. Although it was closed, we clearly saw her stick up her middle finger while the male employee shook his head and rolled his eyes. Despite this unprofessional behavior, we remained patient. However, a car pulled up behind us, and the young male took their payment while continuing to ignore us. It was our first time dining in at White Castle for Valentine's Day and my sons were excited! When we walked in it was a full house. It was beautifully decorated and they even had a Valentine's Day backdrop. They seemed to have goody bags as well but not sure if that was for everyone as we did not receive one. You needed to make reservations ahead of time on Open Table. It seemed like some of the staff was either new or just did not know how the Valentine's Day dining operated. They had the love cube on the menu and it was suppose to come in a cute box but they did not have the boxes made ahead of time. There were choices of sides too but I wasn't asked what sides I wanted. I heard multiple employees complaining about building the boxes as well. The food we ordered was just served on a plate and we received the box after the fact and I had to ask for it as well. I had to ask if our order was put in since another table received their order before us. Even my son was wondering were our food was because he was hungry. They gave coloring sheets but there were no crayons so they gave my sons pens instead. However the food did not disappointed all these years of waiting I finally ate here. I would have given this place a 5 star but it smelt funky and is very out of date. My favorite White Castle location in all of Chicagoland. They never mess up my order as I'm yelling it incoherently in their drive-thru during early morning hours. They always live up to the "fast" in the "fast food" label, even with a crowded drive-thru. While I don't expect fast food employees to be the happiest people on earth, the employees at this particular location are generally decent, in that they don't advertise their hatred toward their job by giving you an unpleasant attitude & experience. Most places have only ketchup/mustard and you typically have to ask for them, but all WC's I've been to have BBQ, brown mustard, tartar sauce, mayo, and a few others including their own HOT SAUCE! IN PACKETS! I usually 'borrow' a dozen or so for those emergency situations when I need hot sauce at work or in the car. Major props to them. Whilst eating here once, I discovered the greatest thing ever: dunk their buffalo-flavored chicken rings in ranch, and dip the ranch-flavored rings in buffalo sauce. OMG, it had been SO LONG since I had been to a White Castle! We only had a short time in the Chicago area, and stopping here was a 'must'. We ordered a sampler of several items: sliders with each kind of cheese (including smoked cheddar and ghost pepper), fries, onion rings, and cheese curds. It's your typical White Castle - nothing out of the ordinary. We've stopped by here a handful of times on our way to or from the airports. One time we happened to order 60 sliders - per request of my brother - to take with us. I had ordered it on the app and was given a time for when they'd be ready. We showed up and had to wait about an hour after the scheduled time. I did understand that it was a Friday and they had other orders coming for 30 or more. What was annoying was that instead of making our order they were making others that were walking in after us - we were on a time crunch because we had a catch a flight. Came into town from Arizona for a wedding, decided to hit up White Castle as it had been a while. Overall food was as expected but bathroom was gross. I only wish I had gone in there before ordering. Stopped in today (drive thru) to get something to snack on while riding around. Even though there was only two cars in front of me, the wait was extremely long.
