I came here with a Groupon that was $66 for the 10 taco platter and the tequila tower an amazing deal! The taxes were $20 and after a $10 tip, this comes to almost $100 which honestly isn't bad at all since the drinks are strong and huge. The menu did say that the platter came with chips and when asked, the server told us it didn't even though it said on the menu it did? Whatever, I wasn't gonna argue a menu with someone that works there and I was just grateful for the generous deal! The tower came out which was so well presented and comes with 4 different margaritas that are all incredible! The salsitas on the side are great and the tacos were all amazing and loaded with meat! They are on the small size so more like street tacos but I appreciate the double tortilla per taco and they're not skimping out at all here! It was 10pm on a Monday but our server was so slow that she was FaceTiming while we were waiting 25 minutes to be checked up on to order the check. We eventually decided to just interrupt her and flag her down. Our food did come quick but after that, the service was just ok. Definitely better places in the area. Pros: there are some vegetarian options on the menu, a couple could be made vegan (tacos and fajitas). Drink menu seems expansive and there are fun and unique options! Unfortunately, we didn't get to try any. Food itself was fine, but there's definitely better just a minutes walking in either direction. Cons: our service wasn't good. Our waitress misunderstood our order almost entirely, despite pointing to what we wanted on the menu. She took my order then walked away without ever asking my husband what he wanted (hence we weren't able to get drinks as he was picking which frozen we wanted to share). Service was also very slow getting to the table, and this was a Sunday afternoon. I would be hesitant to come in the evening when it could be even busier. The ambience was just ok. There is definitely better on Calle Ocho, just steps away. I'd say, for lunch, save your money and go to Pollo Tropical for the same ambience In summary: wish we had chosen somewhere else nearby. The drinks were too sugary, definitely not strong enough, and presentation was just ok. The service was not great either. Very conflicted here... My fiancé and I came here for a private party. It was a charge per person that included open bar and food selections. There were many issues, and I don't think they were prepared for our large group. The first issue was only having -two- bartenders. This caused a long wait time and I'm sure the two bartenders working were overwhelmed. The second issue was the servers. As soon as each of them entered our private room they ALL went to the right leaving the left side of the room with absolutely zero food. That isn't how you serve a party effectively and efficiently. We went on an off night (Tuesday) so I can only imagine what is going to happen on a weekend day, probably loud and even more lights. Food quality was good. I liked my vegetarian tacos even though they were a touch skimpy with the fillings. Yes to the guac and chips. To finish off we had the flan. I liked it because it was traditional with the burnt sauce and the flan wasn't that sweet. My friend was the opposite, he wasn't crazy about it because it wasn't that sweet and he prefers a sauce that is not dark. We had 2 main dishes, the guac and two drinks and the shared flan for about $64.00 which I found to be reasonable. Tip will be included in your bill, you can add more if you would like. Parking is street only in this area. As a plus, this restaurant is open late, making it perfect for a late dinner or late snack. We made a reservation at 9:15pm for 7 people. Once arriving we were asked if we wanted a seat in the back or the front and we just said wherever was warmer so we sat in the front of the restaurant near the open windows and bar. Our server did not speak much English which was fine because she spoke enough to get by and still provided great service. Everything was taken down on a handheld device and kept track of with each of our names which was nice. We ordered two Mexican mojitos that came with a cute souvenir mini sombrero on top and a jumbo margarita that 4 of us shared. Our table also got a complimentary basket of chicharrones which were great. For food, we ordered a quesadilla, quesabirria tacos, and asada tacos. We were given two sauces at the table: one green and one red. Our table probably used the entire green bottle on our food because it was so good. It was sour and thick which is something I love. Not spicy at all. It went great on the asada tacos. All of the food tasted amazing. We each paid our own bills and it was easy since everything was ordered attached to each of our names. At some point during our meal, the mariachi arrived and began playing for us which was very entertaining. Overall, the experience went smoothly and the food was very good. We had a fun time! The three star average on Yelp sounds about right, if maybe a bit generous. After passing by many times when driving in Calle Ocho, I stopped by for an early dinner after my jog. I found the place half empty, with maybe 2 or 3 other tables taken including one by a vendor selling arts & crafts in the restaurant. Foodwise, I liked that their chips are more like chicharrones. They serve them with a red sauce and a green sauce but no fresh pico de gallo. Four small cheese tequenos were decent, although not a classic Mexican restaurant dish. My burrito - although not on the menu - was really good, perfectly messy and they customized it with no guacamole. However, being deliciously messy means it fell apart on the plate. I almost had to channel Saul the barbershop client in "Coming to America" because I had to ask for and wait for utensils. There were none already at the table. On the surface, they have TV and they did have the Dolphins game on. But music was just too loud. The service was fairly slow. And the atmosphere just wasn't comfortable to the point that you'd want to hang out for a couple of hours to watch a game. The plan was to eat, drink, and watch football. Instead we ended up leaving after one drink. Again, certainly not the worst spot. But there are a few minor things they could do to make it much more inviting. Wanted to love this place, but the experience was off... I stopped by WhiskeyLucan to check it out for the first time and grabbed a seat at the bar. When I asked the bartender for a menu, he told us to order with a waitress, but after a few minutes, he ended up taking our order himself. We asked for tacos and a margarita. Unfortunately, the food came but the drinks never did. It seemed like the bartender was having a rough night--we overheard him arguing with the waitress, which made the vibe a little uncomfortable. We had such a great time here 2 weeks ago! As locals, we're always looking for fun, walkable spots with good happy hour deals, and Whiskylucan seemed perfect. On our first Taco Tuesday, tacos were $2 and select drinks were $5--it was a blast. The service was pretty slow, but we didn't mind much because we enjoyed the atmosphere and watching the games on TV. We were excited to come back the next Tuesday, planning to make it a regular thing--but when we found out the deal had changed to just $2 off, we didn't even end up staying. What was once a roughly $50 outing turned into something way over $100 --not the same vibe at all. We love the concept, and really wanted this to be our go-to, but between the price hike and the consistently poor service, we're not sure we'll be back. This place is so cute and has a very mexican vibe. I will say I think the menu isn't 100% mexican to appeal to others, for examples, we don't really eat arepas or tequenos but they're on the menu, lol. What I did have which was the queso fundido and the sopes were good. The micheladas were delicious. Towards the back they have a mini club called shotimilco and had a fun vibe.
