Went for a date night with my wife. We were promptly sat by the hostess and give water but the were forgotten about. The hostess came back and asked if we were helped yet and directed someone to our table. I asked the server for a suggestion among the few plates I was considering and he steered my wife and I towards the ribeye (most expensive item on the menu). This was by far the worst ribeye I have ever had. It was super thin, mostly large chunks of fat, and poorly cooked with 0 flavor. My wife's sweet potato fries came out cold but my regular fries were the best item there and delicious. We never got asked if we wanted refills or an additional beer. There was no service between food delivery and having to ask for our check. Overall sorely disappointed. I will not go back to this restaurant. read more

Great stop after a 4-hr hike in Zion Park. The staff were great, very attentive and very welcoming ambiance. Got there and the place was empty. As soon as we ordered people started arriving. It got packed by the time we finished our meal. The food was amazing. The coconut shrimp appetizer is a must! Had a dish that was not on the menu and it was more than I expected. Had a Buffalo steak perfectly cooked as ordered, with Brussels sprouts and fries. One of the best meals I've had in a while. The portions were more than enough but I suggest you ask about this if you don't eat much to find a better option for you in the menu which is varied. Easily accessible just outside of Zion NP. Super hungry after hiking all Day and stopped on our way out. Outside seating which was nice as the weather was just perfect. Hostess got the family seated quickly. Server immediately got us drinks and we order chips and salsa for appetizer. Ordered chili burger (amazing) wife got chicken tacos, and daughter got chicken quesadilla. Food was OUTSTANDING! Pricing is a little on the high side, but you have to keep in mind this is a small town (Springdale is less than 1000 people) so factor in higher operational costs and unique market dynamics. My family had a superb dinner, with excellent outdoor canyon ambiance and awesome service. After a day in Zion with tired legs, we took the shuttle to Whiptail and had one of the best meals in our vacation (including Moab). My Chile Rellano - apparently the house special - knocked my socks off. The house adds goat cheese to the chile which adds some great complexity to the flavor. The plating was next level with sauces artfully textured and salads on either side. What a dish. My family really enjoyed their spaghetti squash enchiladas as well. For the vegetarians in the area this is a nice option - however the house also serves a lot of BBQ/burger options. The burger with green chiles looked especially awesome on a neighboring table. I tried a strawberry jalapeno margarita that hit the spot. We also had a chocolate tres leches cake that was quickly devoured. I would give this place 6 stars if I could. Wow! We drove to Zion from San Diego, CA today and wanted to check out a local place for dinner. San Diego has some of the best Mexican food out there, so our expectations of great Mexican food in southern Utah were not super high, but I have to give it to this place, everything we had was delicious! We loved it all! The brussel sprouts with pork belly and habanero jelly were a flavor bomb, the spaghetti squash enchiladas were awesome and the sweet pork tacos were super tender and full of flavor. Everything was well seasoned, service was quick and friendly, and we really enjoyed everything we ordered. I will definitely be trying to replicate those brussels with the pork belly at home! read more

I do not understand all the positive reviews on this place. Not only is it tremendously overpriced (I get it, we are in a tourist my area but $23 for 1 relleno is crazy ) the food is also not good. In that relleno it was filled with easily over 1 cup of goat cheese. Like a full measuring cup. More goat cheese than I would even serve on a charcuterie board. My friend got the pork tacos and it was sopping wet with sauce, same with the little salad we got with the coconut shrimp. Drowning in dressing. As usual, I asked some of the local shop owners where to eat and this came up as one of the best options. And, they were correct - always ask a local! The service here was exceptional. Our server greeted us immediately and was very nice. They have a decent beer selection for Utah (remember the 5% max abv limit which concerned me regarding IPA's). My kids both got the chicken tenders and liked them. I had carne asada tacos and my wife had shrimp tacos. They were both fantastic entrees. For mine, the beef was very tender and the portion size was ample. My wife loved her shrimp tacos and was unwilling to share much of them - a good sign. Anyway, sometimes it's hard to pick out a good restaurant in a tourist driven town like Zion. You really can't go wrong here if you are in the mood for Mexican. We ate inside, nothing to write home about, but the outside looked really nice. It's just my kids were too tired of the heat despite the water spray they had to cool people down. Had such a great dinner on our first night in town that we went back for our second/last night. Tainer was our server both times & was very friendly and helpful. It was also great to see everyone that works there helping to serve the customers. The hostess would often bring waters to the tables, kitchen staff would bring out food and clear tables, and servers would help each other (Alex welcomed us bs k though he wasn't our server either time). But the best part is the food! It's a great menu and everything we had tasted fantastic, was abundant and prepared/served quickly. The goat cheese stuffed chile relleno (recommended by Tainer) was delicious and the plate was so pretty with all of the sauces. I had the carne assada burrito and it was loaded with tasty & tender steak. Most importantly places often use a lot of fillers but not here - tons of streak! Each was served with a plentiful and tasty side. On night two, we weren't as hungry, but thoroughly enjoyed sharing the chips with delicious salsa (a little spicy but smooth) and queso dip, the carne asada quesadilla (again a huge portion of steak) and chicken wings served with fries. Several really good sauces (we did buffalo and sweet chili) and the wings were very meaty. We had a few mixed drinks and beers which were all enjoyed. This is my second time at this restaurant. The first time I truly did enjoy my visit (last fall), but this time we had a completely different experience leaving me wondering if I will return. Of course upon arrival there was a 15 minute wait, completely okay and we even got sat in 10 minutes, outside. They have nice water misters that help bring down the hot heat in the summer which I appreciate. I feel like the menu didn't have much for a "picky eater" which we had two in our party. They both got quesadillas, and they were flavorless, and really nothing special ($7 to add chicken was crazy to me). With the quesadilla, our server asked if we wanted rice and beans with it, seemed like it was included as a side, it wasn't. We ordered the whiptail burrito with no onions and when the order came out, onions. We told our server and although he told us to keep the plate (which we obviously didn't eat), he also charged us for an additional burrito. We also never received the rice and beans side. We were charged for things we didn't purchase unfortunately. I get accidents happen, but our server didn't even fix it, another server did. I do really appreciate this servers efforts to take time away from their own tables to help us. 3 stars because just not a great experience for us, but we did like the burrito and the sweet potato fries. On our first night in town we decided to give Whiptail Grill a try. It was a good decision. The restaurant makes use of an old gas station building and offers indoor and outdoor seating. There was a wait for outdoor seating so we opted to go inside. The dining room is airy and modern. The decor plays off the building's previous use. The staff was friendly and efficient. My husband opted for the chicken burrito with a side of beans and rice. I chose the chili relleno with a side salad with their avocado dressing. We also ordered a round of the lime margaritas. All of the food was very good! If you like goat cheese you'll enjoy the chili relleno. We were a little disappointed to learn the chocolate, habanero and peanut butter flan was not available but the flan cheesecake we had instead didn't disappoint. Good mexican restaurant by Zion National Park. Really close restaurant right outside to the entrance of the National Park. The table where we were seated, there were incredible amount of flies. We had to move from inside the restaurant to the outside seating. The food was good but I was kind of mad that they didn't tell us that there was 18% gratuity already included in the receipt. So we tipped them generously on top of the tip. So ended up tipping 36%. They were nice but there were bunch of flies and it landed on my salad. Experience wasn't all that great due to bunch of flies trying to land on our food. Not the staffs fault but bad experience with flies and double tipping. read more

Ambience: Set against the national park backdrop is this restaurant with an outdoor and indoor setup. Sprinklers to beat the heat made the outside seating very appealing. We sat there on a sunny afternoon after our narrows hike. Definitely a good decision as the ambience lifted us from the rather tiring day! Food: Our group ordered standard Mexican food - tacos and burritos - the tacos were great although I'd say pork, and shrimp burrito were more flavorful. The chicken felt a bit dry. You can substitute the beans and rice on the side for anything else. We ordered brussel sprouts, pico de gallo, sour cream and the brussel sprouts were baked to perfection - although the salt could have been more this was a quick fix and we found ourselves ordering another one! Oh and the crème brûlée was inhaled within a couple mins of arrival (hence the missing picture). Don't forget to order it for it has several ingredients that won't quite feel like they fit right (yes, it has habanero you heard that right!) hints of different flavors balanced it out to become the star of the meal! Service: The staff was friendly and helpful for our endless ambiguity on the substitutes to be resolved! Accommodating and lively, our staff helped us make choices we felt incapable of because of how tired we felt. (I'm never opposed to a doggy bag) The outdoor patio was pleasant and full. We enjoyed the activity of seeing hikers go by and families enjoying the area. Service was outstanding; the cook/manager even came out to make sure everyone enjoyed their meals. Our waiter was so nice, friendly, and was light-hearted and cracked jokes. He was also very quick with our drinks and food. The chips, salsa, and guacamole we ordered for the table tasted fresh. The guacamole was well flavored. Our main course was tasty as well. The chile relleno was especially unique with the Goat cheese but it worked very nicely with the dish. The burrito was packed with a juicy and smoky tasting carne asada with a cheesy sauce that coated the burrito. I fully recommend eating here when visiting Zion National Park. read more

Came here on our last day in Zion camp ground and decided to eat something different before we leave the next morning. Food was delicious and portion size were HUGE! Great to share and we had tons of left over. we got tacos, quesadilla, nachos, wings, and burrito. All were great and flavorful. I would recommended sitting outside as the view was absolutely breath taken. The whole time while waiting for our food, I just stared at the mountains and enjoy the view.
