We were starving after an Astros game and was not about to pay 30 bucks for a single meal at the new Whataburger in Daikin Park. It's a principle thing. I happened to have some freebies that were about to expire on my Whataburger app, so coming here was the move. It was the closest Whataburger en route to my house. It is located in the parking lot of a large shopping complex so parking is not an issue. Walking in, the place was pretty busy with alot of older customers so it was nice, calm and clean inside. I also knew I wasn't in the burbs anymore because you had to have a code to get into the bathrooms. The staff was young but very professional. I ordered the new Bacon Steakhouse Double because it was free with the purchase of fries and a drink. The Whataburger app is great like that! The food came out in a timely manner and the burger was almost picture perfect. It was neatly made and not sloppy like other fast food chains. That being said, the burger wasn't all that. I gave it an honest try and I can see why it's a rotating item as opposed to a main stay. Odds are I probably won't be back at this location because I am hardly in the area. I'm from SoCal and everyone in Texas raves about Whataburger. I just don't see the hype. In and Out Burger blows Whataburger away. The quality is nothing special, I ordered a triple protein style at Whataburger and really didn't fill me up. I protein triple at In and Out... well that is plenty. I needed a breather from work, so I ran to the closest restaurant just get. quick bite to eat before my lunch time was over. Before driving to the restaurant, I placed my order in the app because I already knew the lunch hour crowd was present. The app's estimated time to complete the order was the same amount of time it would take me to get there, which was great-if it was accurate. I hadn't been to this Whataburger in years, so I expected them to be like the ones on my side of town-slooooooow- even with an online order, so I decided to park as far away from the front door as possible so I would not gwt blocked in or have issues getting out. I noticed my that the drive thru was going pretty fast, so I was hoping the same for the inside. As soon as I entered, I was greeted. Secondly, I didn't wait long at all to get my order. When the manager handed me my food, he informed me that he made sure my fries were hot. I SURELY appreciated that! As I made my way back to work, of course I was eating my fries ( dont judge- couldnt let them get cold)! but I finally had a chance to look in the bag once I made it back to work and received an extra fry! I could tell one was fresher than the other, so I appreciated the manager looking out for me and making sure I was satisfied. Plus, letting me keep the 1st feu instead of just throwing them away because they weren't fresh without salt like I requested. This Whataburger has great customer service and the food as delicious. My chicken tenders were fresh and not oily tasting like the oil needed to change. The gravy was smooth and not salty. I wish I could mention something about the ambiance, but I wasn't inside long enough to even observe it, which is a good thing because that means they were on top of their orders and getting them out. I came into the office on a Sunday to do a little work. Around lunch time I started getting starving. I normally try to eat healthy but on this day, I could give 2 s***ts on the health content of my meal. Since I have been in Houston for about a month now, I had yet to have Whataburger. The last time I had one of these burgers was about 6 years ago when I was in El Paso visiting some family. I was on a mission to find a Whataburger and kill my craving. I figured I could probably just go on any freeway and find one. Since my office is right off of the 10, I headed east and found a Whataburger about 3 miles down the way. It was in a sketchy neighborhood, but I was on a mission. I ordered the Whataburger with cheese and bacon combo meal. The food came to my table and holy hell, I was in fast food heaven when I bit into the burger. I don't remember the one in El Paso and so it was almost like having my first Whataburger. Even though this is a fast food place and fairly large chain, the burger reminds me of something you'd get at a hole in the wall. The bacon wasn't the limp kind and the bun was awesome. Plus, the burger wasn't dripping everywhere with sauce or anything. I am a fan of the messing Carl's Jr burgers, but I would probably say this one is better. They have this new thing where they have an employee standing taking orders for drive thru. You give them your money, pull up the the window expecting to receive your order, are told to pull up to the side doors, and end up waiting half an hour for "fast food". They were fast and friendly food fresh a employee by the name of Virginia greeted customers at the door and asked if it was ok to extend a hug. In shock cause I eat out a little more than I should I never had that to happen to me it was welcoming and sweet. The area was clean bathroom clean and they ate very accommodation to what you need and checked on me to make sure I didn't need anything else. Went to the drive-thru for breakfast this past weekend. We were looking for a quick bite while heading out to Winnie, and the earlier places were all in the heart of Downtown...NOT QUICK. Now this location isn't in a great area, but the employees were pretty nice. And service was fairly quick. However, there was a crazy bum sitting on the curb on Wayside...while we were stopped at the red light, he started writing the F-word on my husband's truck with his finger! Haha!! Creepy.
