I never knew this shop existed until I needed something packaged. I've probably passed it dozens of times without realizing it was tucked in there. I needed a framed artwork packed to be moved and these folks delivered....pun intended. The pricing was very reasonable as well. The box itself was around $8 and the supplies needed to pack it were an additional $10. The act of them packing it up was no extra charge, which I appreciated very much, as I would have had no idea how to properly pack such a thing. Be cautious of mailing your items from this business. I shipped a 300 dollar designer shirt to Canada and paid over 46 dollars to include insurance. The package was lost and the center never added insurance only declared a value of 300. I am out an item and need to reimburse the buyer for the shirt. I lost $646.09 due the negligence of this business and not knowing how to handle a USPS transaction properly. I've contacted the business and was told they will do a search for the item and that it was insured. After pointing out they processed the transaction incorrectly and didn't add insurance they stopped responding. I guess it's not their problem and they won't take responsibility for their error. A great local business. I stopped by for a notary & was appreciative that they did this service. The price for notary is now $8 as of the new year. I was given last years pricing but because I had called in just a few mins before arriving, they graciously honored the pricing I was told on the phone. Staff is nice enough, it beats waiting in line on the weekends at the Post Office. The down side it appears their pickups by USPS and UPS are not daily, especially over Holiday Weekends. Several USPS packages were dropped off on Saturday 12/30 at noon, they close at 2pm. These packages were not scanned and did not start tracking until 2:15 pm on Tuesday 1/2. One UPS package dropped off at the same time is still not scanned ( obviously not picked up yet ) as of right now ( it's now Wednesday 1/3 ). I realize the Holidays may have something to do with it, and it may not necessarily be their fault, but this is not acceptable, especially when running a business and your customers are told their item will ship within 24 hours, and now the tracking looks like they weren't dropped off until 3 days later. I normally don't leave reviews, and this may not seem like a big issue, but my fast shipping times contribute to the success of my business, and it looks bad on me and will no doubt have an affect on future sales. read more

This place is most definitely understaffed and deals with several auction houses. When you call, it is hit or miss if you get someone to answer. I am sure the owner probably lives in Desert View or one of the other upscale neighborhoods north of Phoenix. Just sitting up there watching the cash roll in. Three weeks to ship and convoluted answers when you finally get through to a human. Turned me off on buying from the auction houses that use this place. The worst part is if they have your item and they want to charge you storage fee after two weeks. They had my item for three weeks. That should work both ways. But of course it is only items that have not been paid for shipping wise. Yep, watching the money roll in and then its just crickets and certainly on their terms and time line. I was surfing yelp and Westside Mail Center popped up on my screen. I seen the poor reviews and just couldn't believe some of the things I read. So I wanted to give my opinion about the service I've received from Westside Mail Center over the 10 years I've been using their services. I met Len, the owner the first time I stepped in his door and he has always presented himself in a professional and calm way. He's always been very nice and knows his business well. Len isn't a kiss ass and doesn't say "my pleasure" like some places have started doing. He seems like a down to earth small business owner, and I appreciate that. Prices at WMC are slightly higher than the post office, but not like the examples on the reviews! How could a business stay in business charging $80 more than USPS? (Maybe someone got charged a jerk fee !? haha) As for slightly higher fees at WMC, I gladly pay them to keep me in one place and not have the 10+ ppl lines like at the Post Office. Think of it as a convivence fee of sorts. The Post Office is Walmart, they are the QT. You can ship USPS, FedEx, UPS and probably more carriers all at one stop. I also drop off Amazon returns when my wife is with me, keeps her out of Kohls! Final thought, when a package leaves WMC, if it gets lost, broken, etc, that's not on WMC or Len personally. You lost or didn't get your tracking number? Are you 5? You didn't know you needed a tracking number? Take a picture of it with your phone? Life's hard, it's harder when you're stupid, but that's not WMC's fault! This is my personal rant now towards some of the reviewers to this establishment and other places. As for the 1 star ratings due to mask issues (this is written 06/27/21). It's your option to wear a mask! It's your option to wear a mask at Walmart, Costco and just about everywhere else these days. It's your option to open the door and walk in. If you're so worried about it, DON'T WALK IN!! I am surprised to see any negative reviews for Westside Mail Center. I ship a ton of stuff for work and have been here several times and the service is great plus I have never felt like their prices were unusually high. I usually check what it would cost to take a box to the UPS store online to compare prices and they are usually about the same here or cheaper. Also if you have fragile items or electronics AND you want your package to get there in one piece, UPS ground is NOT the way to go. I needed to ship a huge 60+ lb. server from here to Chicago. I had no box or packing material and needed to get it there in one piece. They made a custom box with packing and it got there in perfect condition, not a scratch and it was only $150 including packing. Try going to the UPS store and see it they will do that for ya! I guarantee it would cost 3X that and it will be damaged when it gets there. Local business that I am happy to support. They take care of their customers and I will continue to do business here. read more

Zero Stars! Would-be customers beware. I purchased over 100 Blu-ray discs through a local auction and was referred to Westside for shipping. When I called, I got the owner who was very cordial and agreed to pick up the items and gey back to me with a quote. Weĺl, within a few days, he called me back and again was very cordial. Base on the quoted weight, I went with the slow boat rate of $49 since there was no rush. Well. Long story short, the package never arrived. I make a lot of auction purchases, and though rare, it's not uncommon for shipments to take longer than usual, and that's even before this current environment we now find ourselves. But in any case, when I call to enquire, a young gentleman answers and attempts to assist me. After explaining the situation, he looks it up, but can't find anything in his system. He takes my contact info, says that he will look into it and give me a callback. Again, the young man was very courteous, so I think, hey, no big deal. Well, a few minutes later, I get a call from the owner (yes, recognize his voice). Only this time, he's immediately on the defensive. He tell me that according to the tracking number, the package was damaged so badly that it had to be destroyed in Atlanta, and that theres nothing he can do about it. By now I'm ticked! Not because of his claim about the package, but his attitude. By now he's being Grade A. He proceeded to rant on about 'what is he supposed to do with his employees that are making hourly wages'; in the meantime, I'm wondering what the heck does what he pays his employees have to do with my package! After a brief back and forth, he tells me that I'm more than welcome to call the USPS and argue with them. The one man team (Len) is less then desireable I went there for the first time, I had 2 documents to print because my printer is on the fritz and I went in, he asks me "What I need?" not "how can I help you?" I told him what I needed he pointed to a computer and said "you can use that computer over there" I go into my email I find my 2 single page documents and I print them out, I shut the email and go to pay, he tells me it will be $2.20 REALLY? for 2 printed copies of a document from an email, so I tell him, "I didn't want to buy the computer I just wanted to rent it" I then said "I won't be back" he said "that is up to you" I said "I know I won't be here again" and I go to leave and say "go F yourself" and then he starts in, He tells me to go do it to myself, he then flips me off all the way out the parking lot. what a real winner, I predict he will be out of business in 6 months. Long time customer at this mail center. All the employees have made me feel welcome. I get greeted by name. I've shipped items here on an almost daily basis and I also have my business and personal mail delivered here. Comparable rates for a P.O. Box without using the post office. Any time I need a package signed for they are always there to sign for me. on the occasion I need a notary there is someone here a few days a week to help me with that as well. Very convenient location and wonderful customer service, highly recommend their services. I know some people complain about the prices in other reviews, but they do need to make money somehow, and since the wait at most post offices, fed-ex, ups locations are long you find convenience of almost no lines or short lines and extra care of boxing items for you worth the extra cost.
