Due to last minute planning on my part, there was only 1 spot open on an introductory dive the next day which I ended up signing up for. Their boats have 6 spots and I was joining a family of 5 who had no scuba experience (I'm open water certified) but they assured me that I'd still have a fun dive experience. There were 2 instructors on the boat and they were aware that I already had dive experience so when we arrived at the dive site, 1 of the instructors got right in the water and I was able to essentially have a private dive tour with him while the other instructor was going over the basic dive info with the family! The first tank dive was 30 minutes of myself and 1 of the instructors and the last 2 minutes were with some of the others in the family. We saw 3 green sea turtles, an octopus, a ton of fish, and a bunch of cool sea slugs! All in all, I was so happy with how the team was able to accommodate my last minute desire for a dive and the differing skill levels within the group!

We wish the guide had checked on us more throughout, for example air amount left and ndl limit, because I reached mine and had to find him to let him know. The scenery was amazing and the staff were super friendly, I was nervous to dive and he was super reassuring. My husband and I will be back! The equipment was also very nice

I was nervous and inexperienced, but they were so patient and made me feel comfortable the entire time. Brian was especially helpful with my safety skills and guiding me through the dive. The whole team was incredible. We had all levels of divers from Discovery scuba, working on open water certification, and myself, an already certified diver who last dive was some mumbley years ago. Our instructors and divemasters were fantastic. Francesca and Brian are an incredible team. They made everybody feel comfortable with every level of diving that they were at. Both were incredibly knowledgeable, easygoing, and were even able to put up with our family dynamics, as they are. We were all laughing for a good part of the day. That I find incredibly important--giggling and trading stories, being comfortable with the people you're diving with. Once the dive started, they both were 100% professional, easygoing, and incredibly knowledgeable, helping all of us make memories that will last a lifetime. Even our boat skipper was fantastic. Quick ride out. Incredibly knowledgeable, not only about the diving, but told us about local places we could go, things that we need to make sure that we see. Was incredibly helpful getting in and out of the water. Skipper gets five stars as well. Folks, I can't recommend this place enough. If you're going to go scuba diving, snorkeling--beginner or advanced--this is the place to go. Geo aka James Bond.

Dan was fantastic from start to finish, making everyone feel comfortable, safe, and welcome. One thing we especially appreciated was the small group size. It created a much more personal experience, allowed for individual attention, and made all of us feel relaxed. Dan did a great job balancing safety and fun, and he was wonderful with our teenagers. The diving was great (saw eels, turtles, rays, lots of fish) and the entire operation was professional, organized, and easy to work with start to finish.

The whole process was seamless, Gabe was so responsive and so nice answering all of my annoying questions. Once I got to the island and got on the boat - immediately was welcomed in with open arms and made some friends too! I did a ton of dives with Gabe's team over the month and saw some incredible marine life and shipwrecks. Coming from LA - this was elite service - princess diving as Gabe calls it. Put my gear together? Incredible. Guided dives every time? Amazing. Gabe and his team provide the best service, are so attentive, prioritize safety, and always find the best and coolest species to look at. I truly cannot wait to be back diving with this crew! I walked into a few other surf and snorkel spots but they mostly carried short fins. I went with the Leaderfins which are the most affordable carbon fins. The fins do come separately from the foot pocket, so I also got their forza foot pockets. They do offer a service where they put together your fins and foot pockets but only certain people are trained on that, so I did have to pick it up just a few days later- and that service is $30. I also got a pair of diving socks to go with my fins. They have different sizes, thicknesses, and cuts (high vs low). I also got a new diving mask and snorkel. The best thing about going to a dive shop is the ability to try things on and Westside Dive has so many different options. Being able to put on the foot pockets with the diving socks or even just trying on a few different masks to find the one that best fits your face is why it's better to come in person than buying online. The service was also super friendly. I was making some big purchases, so I wanted to make sure that each component was exactly right and the staff here was helpful and overall super chill. We talked story for a bit, exchanged where we like to go diving and even some fish recipes. If you're looking for diving gear, support local and check out Westside Dive!

I've been dropping by every time we're back on the islands for over 20 years, and it's still the first stop off the plane. I will say though, service can be a little rough sometimes. Some days are good, some days not so much. But honestly, that's never been the point of this place. You're not coming here for some polished haole sales pitch of some sort, you're coming because these guys know what they're doing and they'll get you what you need so you can get back in the water. And that's where they really shine. Need a j tube? They've got it. Need a new band? They can fab it up in like 5 minutes so you can still make it to the spot on time. They almost always have exactly what I need in stock and at a fair price. You'll see some of the best divers in the islands and honestly, some of the best in the world just casually stopping in. The shirts and designs are also totally underrated. They've got their own local style and I've of course picked up a few over the years and they hold up good. Hanapa'a is one of those rare functional places you can always rely on. it's rooted in the community, and it delivers when it counts. If you dive, you already know. If you don't, this is where you start. Just don't be a Karen and you'll be good.
