Interior Designer: Laura Koshel Details: COVID lockdowns reminded us what we love about our Chapel Hill home, and highlighted what we didn't. Topping the list: Our master bedroom; a sad and soulless room with a bed - equal parts beige and obsolete. Laura guided us, nay glided us through a collaborative design experience resulting in our dream bedroom. From the bespoke oak bed system with hand-tufted headboard to the full-wall remote motorized window treatments, she delivered us the perfect slumber chamber. The stunning lighting, soothing fabrics, and sexy sightlines make this our favorite room in the house. Decidedly luxe with a touch of swank, our new sanctuary all but beckons us to relax. We met with Lisa to discuss ideas on remodeling our 1990s-era bathrooms because we were unsure of how to proceed. Lisa was able to present us a new vision, rescaling our plans and saving us a significant amount of money while still achieving our goal of creating an elegant, updated look and enhancing the function of the spaces. The savings on our bathroom remodels will allow us to embark on other redecorating projects that we thought were beyond our reach. We are thrilled! Lisa has amazing insights into melding function with beauty, and she has an appreciation of and respect for collectibles and antiques, and how best to display them to tell our family story. She has extensive resources to help us realize our vision. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Lisa to enhance our entire home, thereby enriching our family life. We are so pleased to have her as our guide in this journey! Kristine W.

During work on neighbors home they cut an irrigation pipe without being aware of it. The leak then flooded our driveway for over a week. They showed no interest in helping us deal with the mess it created in our driveway drainage system. When cement footings were poured the cement waste generated during cleanup was deposited in the road and along the devil strip and sidewalk. This cement waste subsequently turned to dust and this hazardous material is a known irritant of skin, eyes and lungs. For this reason we no longer walk our dogs past the neighbors' home. Such discharge may be a violation and is being looked at by the Town. We also experienced troubling behavior by a senior member of Johnson Building Company. He was on our property to look at the flooding issue and was being very disagreeable. He then he refused 3 demands I made for him to leave. It wasn't until I told him he would be trespassing if he did not leave that he finally left. Finally, our front yard was used by one of their contractors as a staging area for unloading materials from their truck. When we asked him to stop and remove the material he was disagreeable. All of this happened during the first few weeks of the project's commencement. Why should neighbors be impacted in this way.

She was very available and was often able to meet with us for early am appointments but also came back by independently at different times of the day to check the color in dIfferent lights. She was easy to work with and quickly understood our style and vision. We are extremely pleased with how our projects turned out. Her pricing is very reasonable as well. I consider myself to be reasonably adept at color, but knew this was going to be a challenging room, and Barbara helped sort it all out. She was able to determine how the room was going to be used and based on that, come up with colors that would match the "vibe" we were going for. She knows an amazing amount about color, types of paint, and other things that help in making good choices. She was very professional and she worked hard to help us find the exact right shades (we ended up using 4 different colors in the room). More amazingly, when one of the colors ended up looking a little more fluorescent than the paint swatch when it was on the wall, so she was able to tell us what tint to add to the paint to mellow it and it worked perfectly! We are so happy with our room. Given the expense of painting a large room, it makes so much sense to use a colorist and I would strongly recommend Barbara!!
