After the big St. Patrick's Day Race, we stopped in after Yelp suggested this was both on our way home AND a better bet than the food trucks. We were surprised that parking was a breeze, with multiple entrances. The seating os designed to fit couples or larger groups comfortably, and you can tell the local love to sit around the long bar and chat. We loved our booth! The staff was quick, knew a lot about the different food options, and cocktail selection and beer selection was great. We chose a different cocktail from the list, and shared a bunch of appetizers. The sprouts were good, and the wings were tasty. I think the only thing that got a "nah" was the crab cake. I definitely have it on my list to go back for a meal, noting several dinner specials that met my creative palette.

I had a cup of clam chowder and the short rib shepard's pie. I'm rarely satisfied with clam chowder, needing to add a pat of butter, some salt, or the ratios are off. No such worries here, and I had a pleasant cup of creamy chowder with a hearty mix of clams and bite size potatoes. The main course was so savory. Mashed potato topped with a flavorful beef gravy, covering a juicy layer of tender short rib. Underneath, peas, corn, and carrots that had been cooked by the skillet the whole thing is served in. While understaffed due to the greater-than-expected turnout on this beautiful summer Sunday evening, the attentiveness of our waitress and the wait for the food was better than expected. Best of all, the food that arrived had wonderful presentation and excellent taste. My cajun chicken Alfredo was perfectly cooked, with tender, grilled chicken, and the Alfredo sauce had the perfect consistency (neither pasty, nor runny). Everyone else in my party loved their food. And even my son's bolognese linguine "kids meal" was a real treat with an excellent red sauce (yes, I had to help myself to a few bites, after smelling it). All of the meals were served hot. The garlic bread that came with our meals was just right. Aside from the food, you can enjoy a fantastic view of Mt Tom and the Ledges golf course from the outdoor deck. I will definitely be going back!

Not entirely thrilled unfortunately today…read more Went to T&P's around 2:00pm today after a trip to the zoo as my daughter wanted pasta. We were one of six tables within the facility that were occupied. Our server came over and greeted us after about five minutes of sitting, so we'd already knew what we wanted to order. We placed our order and waited about 37 minutes for the food to come out. During the time we waited, all the table next to us did was complain. They complained the music was too loud, they complained the service wasn't fast enough, and then when they got their check to pay, the server accidentally placed the itemized receipt of another table on their table. Good lord, that caused the man to absolutely flip out. Very loudly he goes "ARE YOU KIDDING, CANT THEY DO ANYTHING RIGHT?" which was so very offputting. He flagged the server down who apologized tenfold. Our food came out, it looked...well..you can see from the pictures. The mushrooms and calamari were just disappointing. The mushrooms were very dry and could have used a lemon wedge, if not some kind of sauce. The calamari I had specifically ordered because it was named "Calamari RINGS Rhode Island Style" but when it came out, the plate was full of the body/tentacle style which I do not eat. The breading was also not crispy in the least, it was soft and soggy. Calamari should have that crunch to offset the seafood. The marinara was also very watery. My daughter (8) thought her pasta was okay, she didn't touch the meatballs but we took her leftovers home. This was the first time I'd been to Tony and Penny's in over a dozen years. Unless menu items change, I more than likely won't be going back.
