I know I've been going to this place for at least 30 years, still one of the best feed stores in Phoenix... The people are friendly and helpful, 98%!of the time they have what you need for your chickens, your horse, your dog, your duck whatever it is that you have critter wise.... In a world a big box everything stores it's nice to walk into an old school family owned business that survived for years and feel like back in the day when Phoenix was still a cowboy town. A lot of people had horses in their backyard. that's what this place is hell they still have Bulk feed that you can buy by the pound and wire and hardware cloth by the foot. Nobody does that anymore. I usually love this place because the woman who's normally working is always super helpful and kind. But today was a completely different experience. There was a guy at the register who clearly just wanted to close up and get me out. I told him I wanted the pellets that are high in protein--the kind I always get--and mentioned that the bag is usually more red. (It's actually purple, but I was close.) When I saw the other guy grab a bright green bag, I said it didn't look right. The cashier just said, "Nature's Valley pellets?" and that was it. No effort to confirm what I meant or double-check. For the record, I didn't know the brand name--I just knew I always buy the higher protein feed. The one I usually get is 22% protein. The one they gave me is only 17%, and it's a smaller 40 lb bag instead of 50 lbs. So now I'm stuck with the wrong feed, even after I spoke up. They clearly didn't care to make sure I got what I asked for. Super frustrating, lazy service, and a waste of money. Their tack is good quality but we haven't needed much of that for awhile. Dottie and crew there have always been kind and helpful and they have excellent hay and horse supplies. The prices here seem to be very fair , the amount of products they carry are amazing , while I was there I noticed they had a dog mobile care company in parking lot to serve the public's needs . Cute little feed store and has just about anything you would need for your pets! We recently bought a sulcata tortoise and we needed alfalfa and Bermuda grass hay. They only sold them in bales so I got 1 bale of Bermuda for $16.95. they also gave me a bag of loose alfalfa hay because I didn't have enough space in my car. The bale of Bermuda was just a little too big for my trunk, but they tied my trunk to make it work and made sure it didn't fly open on the freeway. I was able to safely transport the hay back to my house and now our little tortoise has food for DAYS! The staff was very friendly and it made for a better overall experience, especially for a newbie like me who has never owned a pet. I don't think we'll have to buy anymore hay in a while, but when I need to restock I'll definitely come back here read more

Going for a 5 here like everyone else. It's a bit expensive. But if you've got animals that need the products they carry, you either shop here or drive another 45 minutes to another store. Plus... The people that work there. That's the charm. They're friendly and helpful. They have just about everything. I needed more than one chicken treadle and there was someone on staff to build me one. My neighbor wanted a custom coop to fit in her side yard and there was a guy to build her one. Best part, they've got cowboys running around to toss your heavy orders into your car or truck for you. They've got chicks to increase your flock and a rescue board for any other critter to add to your farm. I love it. Wish it were closer to me. I'd go in just to wander the crammed isles and purchase random things for my dogs and chickens. read more

Great family run business with everything you would possibly need for livestock and even dogs. Found seeds to buy at bulk pricing, and it's way better than other places I've been to as far as quality, service, and price. The people that work here are all very friendly and helpful, never making you feel rushed or silly for asking questions. Also, they have chicks! This was the only store that had available bales of straw that I needed for my western party that I was throwing. Not only did they have plenty available but also able to get money returned since the straw was returned in good shape. Nicest people with the greatest selection! Needed straw last minute for a Halloween hay ride for neighborhood kids. Went in and they said what they had left wasn't that great, which is understandable last minute. Asked how much for the 4 bales they had and he said as long as I am bringing them back, just take them. Was such a great experience. Great place for chicken feed and all sorts of supplies for your ranch pets. I came here because they are the only ones that have a treadle feeder for chickens (see my picture). This thing prevents the squatter birds that constantly feed off our chicken feed that quickly adds up. The chickens have to step on the front to open the feed area and they are the only birds that can get in their cage and weigh enough to open the feeder. I have been looking for one of these for over a year. You can make one with the instructions on line but I cant make anything so these guys really helped me out. read more

Maybe driven by this place a couple hundred times. It sits just south of Bell on 32nd St; has the horse out front painted with the Arizona flag. It's interesting because they have been there since 1966, (had no idea?) and has been family owned the whole time. The property consists of at least an acre, it's huge. Behind the store they have every type of feed, including dog food, a person would want. And is't neat because they have little building facades in front of the feed barns, so its like a little western town. The store itself is really cool too. All the practical items like tools, saddles, hats, as well some vintage cowboy suff, ie spurs and buckles and bracelets. It's the kind of store you'd want to stop and checkout even if it didn't seem like it was for you. read more
