While I have run into Petco before for treats, this is probably the longest I have spent in the store as I was looking for dog food with my wife for our new dog, and we also stopped by the adoption area to see some puppies. During this visit, we spoke a lot with the Petco staff, and they helped us out a lot. We have yet to bring our new golden doodle, so we'll need to come back with her another time so that she can pick out her own toy and enjoy the experience. We were only stopping by to look at dog food options as we were looking to buy food toppers. On the app, we found the specific brand, flavor, and size we were looking for with a 25% off coupon. Meanwhile, in the store, since it was a Labor Day sale, we had a 20% coupon. We could only find an end cap with the wrong flavor, but upon asking, we were shown a different area of the store with exactly what we were looking for. They also offered to price match the online promotion, which was great! In addition, the brand had a Buy 2, Get 1 Free promotion, so we were also able to use that promotion for a few smaller trial flavors for the future. We were very happy for the great service! We did notice that some of the bags had an expiration date that had passed, though we shared that with the staff, and they removed those bags from the shelf. The store is open daily from 9 AM to 9 PM except Sundays when they are open from 10 AM to 7 PM. At this location, you can book a grooming appointment, enroll a dog in a training class, book a vaccination appointment, or shop in their aquatics department. "The WORST kind of service, is NO service" I arrived on time for a small dog grooming appointment. I was asked if dog had any new health concerns. I replied that I had found ONE FLEA on his leg the other day. (he is on flea meds, this IS flea season here in AZ) The employee said "We can't take him if he's infested with fleas" I said, he's not INFESTED, I found ONE FLEA She bent over and check him carefully and proclaimed "I found a flea, we cant take him" At this point I asked for the Grooming Dept Manager. She informed me that she IS the grooming Dept Manager. I asked for the Facilitry Manager. I have a beta fish whom I adore, named Blue achoo ( bless you ). My grand named her that. It was bought for her as a first pet and we frequented this store asking Trey oodles and oodles of questions. He is the most even keeled, pleasant, friendly and helpful person. His patience is unmatched, seriously. Brought in my terrier mix Hudson for a grooming. He has bad separation anxiety and can sometimes show aggression. Meredith and the team did an amazing job with his bath and gland expression. They were unfortunately unable to complete the service due to Hudson's aggression but I am grateful for their patience with him and the quality service received. The whole grooming team showed compassion and kindness, and did not shame me or make me feel bad about my dogs behavior. Plus he got this super cute Christmas bandana! I am very grateful. read more

This particular store has really gone down the tubes since the pandemic. The only reason I go here is since we live nearby - the location by where I work near Talking Stick is way better. This location is a real mess inside - empty boxes and pallets all over the place, unorganized shelves. On more than one occasion I've had difficulty actually reaching the products I need because stacked boxes of products, etc were in the way. I hope they are treating the animals decently in there. My gf took our poodle to this store and not only did they basically shave off all his hair way shorter than what we asked for but the next day all of his private parts were the color of a tomato and had to take him to emergency vet. Vet said she got some kind of bacterial infection from the grooming my dogs been in agony for 5 days now he is on multiple anti biotics and I feel so bad for him! He can't sleep he keeps licking at the areas he can't sit because of all the inflammation. I have reached out to the corporate office of petco and it's been 4 days now no response what so ever. Ok. I called and made an appointment for my dog Sadie at the groomers for 2pm on a Sunday. Sadie is a frequent flyer at their groomers. Neurotic dog, Belgian Malinois. She does well here. Groomers s were great. Check out was a Nightmare. "Ana" the check out person was selling monthly subscriptions to their discount program " like Netflix, but better, and you'll use it". Told Ana No over 5 times while she ignored me and kept pitching the sale. Finally used my Nursing voice of "NO"! Ana rang up my grooming for $94,; my tip of $15,; my materials fee of $5 for groomers, and $6 in toys. Total was $159???? When I stated total was wrong, she stated, " No, that's right" in a condescending voice. Told her to read it and retotal. She then said "oh" stated it rang up services twice. Rerang bar codes and stated she forgot the material fee. I said ok, ring it up. No pin asked for when tried to pay. She stated card did not go through, was declined and I should try another card. I said nope, cards good. Do it again. (This woman was continually condescending, antagonizing, and demeaning towards me with tude and tone). This time it asked for pin and then she said I qualified for their credit card. I barked NO. I was finally released to freedom to get my dog from the groomers. I have never ever had this happen at Petco in the 10 years plus I have been coming here. Checking out is not supposed to be a confrontational, nerve wracking test of nerves. The person who clipped the nails of my dog was good but did not provide me an estimate done time. Having been here before it usually takes 40min-1hr and they call so I left. Got the call and a text so came back and at the salon an older employee scolded me for taking off. I told her I didn't get an estimate time and was nearby. She expected me to know it was only 5min work. Obviously if I would have known I would have waited. Additionally the first time I came here I tip cash to the groomer not knowing that it can be done at check out. When I went to pay at register a long hair teen cashier gave me attitude because I didn't put tip in the final checkout (I had already done so). I went in with my sister today to get some crickets for our bearded dragons and the cashier, Annabella literally said "ew" and gave us a disgusted look and started groaning when I said I needed to get crickets. And on top of that, she then proceeded to make us wait 10 minutes while she talked and chit chatted with another employee. And if it couldn't get worse, half the crickets were dead, the bag was not tied correctly and the crickets had no oxygen. I have been to this location twice for dog vaccines. The first time was OK, not great but not terrible. The second time was terrible and here is why. 1. When we arrived, the clinic had been moved to a different part of the store, so we had difficulty finding it until I went to the other side of the store and saw the long line of people with huge dogs during my "appointment" time. I canceled the "appointment" because it would have been at least an hour before they saw us. 2. While searching for the clinic line, our dog pooped on the floor (i was with my two kids). Being unfamiliar with the store, I did not know there were stations with free bags and spray. I was also frazzled being with two kids and trying to make our appointment (I had not yet seen the line), so I went to the front of the store to get a bag. There were lines at two of the registers, but the third register was empty, so I went there to get a bag and told the cashier at the register next to me that I was just grabbing a bag to pick up poop. He said they were $.10. I said, "That's fine, I'll pay for it." He proceeded to aggressively grab the bag out of my had before telling me about free bags at stations around the store. First of all, you never grab anything out of a customer's hand unless I'm actually stealing something significant or kidnapping someone's dog or kid--especially if that thing is a 10 cent plastic bag (which I'm sure Petsmart just gives for free like every other store). I was so enraged at his aggressiveness and unjustified physical contact, I almost slapped him. A crazier person might have done worse. Secondly, if I offer to pay 10 cents for the bag, which I did, then you don't need to worry about what I'm doing with it. If I want to pick up poop, then so be it. My daughter was going to buy the dog treats anyway--I would have added the bag to the cost. But now I will never go to Petco again. 3. I went online to try to contact corporate. There is no easy way to submit a complaint online. I will call tomorrow, but the lack of accessibility for customer feedback is no surprise given what I've seen. This store is extremely unorganized, cluttered, and unkept. I feel bad for the cats that are available for adoption. The cat kennels are directly in front of the dog training area. This made the experience for the cats and potential adopters very uncomfortable. When I walked in there were dogs barking and uncontrolled right in front of the cat kennels and some of the cats were scared. When dog training is occurring, cats are not allowed to come out of the kennels which makes it hard for anyone to find the right cat to adopt. I previously left a bad review after my first interaction with this store was a "same-day delivery" online order - but after personally going into the store and speaking with management about the issue I left happy. I didn't catch the employee's name, but he was really helpful in finding a nice size aquarium for my goldfish. The misconception is that when you get a small little goldfish from a friend or the fair, that you can just stick the fish in a small bowl or aquarium and all is good. No, those suckers get pretty big and you need a good size (10-20L) aquarium to accommodate their growth. My little old fish grew about 3.5 inches and I knew his aquarium was too small for him because you can just tell he couldn't move. It was like the fish was in solitary confinement. Poor fish. Headed up to petco and found a bigger size aquarium that was on sale, which the male employee recommended. When my fish gets to be too big for the aquarium I just purchased, I can donate him to petco and they will gladly accept him. read more

Super clean XL Petco. Picked a couple of items for my dog and went to check out the aquariums. There I found really clean tanks with healthy fish. You know how you go to other pet shops where you find dead fish, half eaten fish, or a bad water smell? NOT HERE!! They definitely take care of their aquatic lives here. Their aquarium plants we also in great condition. I had a chance to speak with Becky who was super knowledgeable about aquarium plants and helped me select one for my tank. She also explained to me the extra efforts they take to make everything look sharp. I think I'll make this specific Petco the one I go to. read more

I went here for the vetco! And I honestly didn't have the greatest experience! I'm very big about positive reinforcement when it comes to treating any animal and I brought my 6 month old puppy to get shots! I've bred and raised many dogs and I know how vaccines work! My puppy has her first two rounds of vaccines and I was late with the 3rd due to moving back home from Idaho but all her previous vaccines has documentation by her vet that she went to when I was living in Idaho! My puppy had ring worms when I first got her and we got it treated and she was finished with all the rounds of her dewormer and was also noted she was in her notes that her vet wrote in her paperwork! The lady proceeded to tell me she wants to give it again and when I asked why she proceeded to tell me she wanted to even tho my puppy didn't need it anymore! She also proceeded to tell me that she wanted to re-start all of my puppy's shots and I told her that it's unnecessary due to her having it on record that she's has two rounds of her shots by a certified veteran! She completely ignored me and I was done with the fight so she went ahead and did the de worm and restarted her on puppy vaccines! I was also unhappy with the fact of how they gave the shots! My puppy is a cattle dog and social skills with her are very important because that breed can be aggressive if they are not socialized right! So they took her from me when doing shots (I completely understand that due to covid) but I watched from a distance and they just put her on the table gave her all the shots and de wormer without treats or even just a pet to reinsure she was okay! And when I got my puppy back she was shaking and had released her anal glands witch is a sign that a dog is very stressed or scared! My puppy has had shots before and has been to the vet many times before and she's never acted like that.... It was upsetting to me just because I have put so much hard work into my puppy to not be scared of vets or even getting shots and I'm hoping this one experience didn't ruin it...... There for the petco staff had nothing to do with it and where very nice and friendly! It was the Vetco staff that was not okay! I will not ever go through a Vetco again! Due to the Lack of organization, the rudeness that I received and just the feeling they betrayed of just trying to get there job done so they can just leave for the day..... it honestly upset me so much! This is a bit of a mixed review. I had purchased a single fish to help cycle an aquarium. I had already STARTED the cycle process by dumping water and filter detritus from an established tank. Now, in truth it takes WEEKS to fully cycle an aquarium, so when the person told me she would not sell me two more fish because the tank had not cycled at least 4 days (it was 3) I was a little taken aback. 3 fish would not tax the system in this aquarium AND, while this may sound pompous and defensive, I have been keeping aquariums for 45 years... probably longer than twice as long as this person has been alive. I've kept fish alive and well for a decade at a time before giving them to friends and starting fresh. I also pointed out that they sold me one already, I was basically told "don't care." So I get that she was trying to save a dead fish return (which I would never do, a fish dies in my care it would be MY fault, because I would choose the healthiest fish I could find) or perhaps she really was concerned for the fishes health, not sure... but she would not reason at all or listen to the fact I had begun with aged tank water and bacteria goo... she just shut me down and ignored me. So... I will not go to petco again. I have instead been traveling farther, going to a pet smart where the people are at least reasonable. read more

I'm going to try hard and not be too brutal. Eek or should just say Meow! Usually come here to pick up some 20 pound bags of Nyjer Thistle Seed for my favorite Goldfinches. They live in my super old and very tall trees that we have both in the front and back yard. Always have a difficult time at this location. The inventory is rarely in the same place and they are usually out of the only thing we want. Wow! Service is friendly once you find someone. Then it just gets frustratingly worse from there. Almost feels like we are talking Pig Latin or something. Today they tell me that the 20 pound bag is no longer an option and we would need to buy several 8 pound bags instead. Just for the record the smaller bags are much more expensive per pound and not something I care to entertain. They educated me in what type of food is best for my puppy and even went over the labels. They offer pet clinics , grooming services, and training. Angel in the Grooming Center has been a groomer for a long time, and I'm so happy she's here at this convenient Petco! My Bichon looks WONDERFUL when he returns from her, and my Papillon, though a bit of a handful, seems to really fall in line when he's with her.
